Hip-Hop Rumors: Drake And Kanye End Beef

This sh*t has Jamie Foxx happy.

I forgot that Kanye West and Drake had some issues with each other. (Ok, I really didn’t know unless it stems back to Kanye producing Drake’s first disaster video) But they managed to get past it at the OVO Festival over the weekend.

OK, we don’t care. But anytime beef is deaded, its a good thing.

Seems like Mase and Diddy linked up too. One big funky bunch!

EXCLUSIVE: Don’t Sleep. Stalley Plans To Wake Up The Masses With ‘Honest Cowboy’ Mixtape

(AllHipHop Feature) Maybach Music Group’s Stalley has been releasing music for over 5 years. After dropping three independent mixtapes prior to 2012 and his first project under the MMG umbrella last year, Stalley believes his latest mixtape, Honest Cowboy, is the definitive work that will force the non-believers to take notice.

“It’s going to be one that people will remember for a long time. I think this one will solidify me in the game as being top dog and not slept on,” says Stalley on Honest Cowboy. “People come up to me and they always say that I’m slept or that I’m overlooked, but I think this is that one that’s going to open people’s eyes up. The music is going to speak for itself.”

Honest Cowboy is a free project that Stalley describes as a musical exploration of who he really is and where he came from. The title was inspired by his troubled father who left the family in Ohio to pursue work as a rancher in San Antonio, Texas.

“I didn’t really grow up with [my father]. That’s the reason that sparked the title and the feel of the album. That was me trying to understand a little more about why he left his family and went down south to go be a cowboy,” explains Stalley. “I saw the parallel of a cowboy and Hip Hop artists today. You go on these frontiers, and you work hard and try to provide for your family. As an artist, you spend a lot of time away from your family and people that’s close to you to try and build this life.”

Honest Cowboy

Kyle “Stalley” Myricks grew up in Massillon, Ohio, deeply connected to the car culture and high school sports. Massillon, a town of about 30,000 people roughly an hour outside of Cleveland, was also the place where Stalley’s grandmother introduced him to the songs of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and the storytelling of country music. Eventually, a young Kyle was exposed to Hip Hop, and the future rapper found his new passion.

“When I first heard Hip Hop was 2Pac’s Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. ‘Brenda’s Got A Baby’, those types of records, really touched me,” says Stalley. “I dove into other music like N.W.A., Ice Cube, Scarface, E-40, Nas, OutKast.”

With tracks like Honest Cowboy’s “Raise Your Weapons” the 30-year-old emcee is harkening back to the social conscious records of artists like Tupac who used their music to make statements about the political state of the nation, the injustice of the judicial system, and the institutionalized oppression that affect the community of his listeners.

“I sit around and I get mad at times because nobody speaks for us. Nobody has that voice. Even people with a bigger voice than me. These artists who have a wider reach and bigger audience never speak on things, because I think people are so afraid to get criticized on social networks and in the media,” says Stalley. “I started [“Raise Your Weapons”] out saying, ‘They saying I’m the last of a dying breed in a generation in a dire need of a voice like me.’ I honestly feel like that. I feel like the generation has a dire, dire need for someone to just stand up and speak for the community.”

Stalley also uses his new project as an homage to his loves like buckets and southern Hip Hop. Both of those interests come together on the lead single “Swangin’” featuring shout outs to Houston rap, a sample of Alabama rap duo G-side, and a verse from legendary Geto Boys member Scarface.

“You don’t really hear Scarface talking much about cars. We’re use to hearing street talk from him and the ghetto tales,” says Stalley. “I wanted to have him do a little something different from what people are used to hearing.”

Stalley also recruited a Western voice for Honest Cowboy. TDE’s Schoolboy Q will make an appearance on “NINETEENEIGHTY7.” The pair recently shot a video for the record in Q’s hometown of Los Angeles.

Stalley Schoolboy Q

“That’s one of them records that’s going to turn up the hood. It’s definitely one that I think is going to stick and stay for a minute. It’s a big record.”

Stalley’s desire to create a masterful work led him to record over a 100 verses. He eventually dwindling the tunes down to ten tracks which features production from DJ Quik, Block Beataz, S1, Terence Martin, Rashad, Soundtrakk, and Black Diamond. Stalley hopes what he calls “the album before the album” satisfies his core fans and also appeals to new audience as well.

“For anybody that listens to The Autobiography to Lincoln Way Nights to Savage Journey they know that the sound stays similar, but it always grows and gets bigger,” says Stalley. “I just focus on getting sharper with the pen, sharper with the flow, and making sure that the production stays my sound, but also grows and gets more worldly so that it can reach a wider audience. Every artist wants to grasp the attention of a new fan every time out, and I think that’s what I did with this project.”

Stalley’s Honest Cowboy will be available for download August 8. Follow Stalley on Twitter @Stalley

Hip-Hop Rumors: Female Rapper Makes Sensational Claims Against Jay Z

Check this:

I could have messed with Jay, but got respect for Bey/ We were on the same set of a commercial, see / I was sitting by myself, and he sat next to me / I was handling it well, and he was shocked to see, I was getting up to leave, he sent his guards to me/ Excuse me Miss, do me a favor, put your number on this piece of paper When Jay get settled and he’ll call you later/ I know most chicks would have took the bait, but then those chicks be the ones I hate / I wonder to this day if I’d have gave it up would it be me on stage throwing it up!

This chick claims that Jay Z hit on her and she said no, because she likes Beyonce so much. I hope she doesn’t think this will make her friends with Bey. Anyway, Jay Z and the folks at Roc Nation have not responded to this yet and they probably won’t. If they do, it becomes news.

But, she is doing interview with some people that have an internet radio station. For the record, I don’t believe her, especially seeing how Jay dotes over B. She’s doing her job though since she is getting the promotion. These days, the best way to get some attention is to mention Jay’s name.

Drake Didn’t See Kanye Before He Brought Him Out At OVO Fest(VIDEO)

“Maybe we can do more music now like we were supposed to”-Drake

(AllHipHop News) Drake spoke with Revolt TV following his OVO Fest and explained how the surprise appearance of Kanye West came about.

After attesting their lack of communication to the high competitive nature of Hip Hop, Drake said he did not speak or see Kanye until the Yeezus rapper appeared on the stage to perform “New Slaves” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”.

Near the end of the interview, Drizzy leaves the door open to the possibility of more collaborations between the two MC’s who have never did a song together outside of the Forever posse cut from 2009.

Check out Drake explain his relationship with Kanye, the moment of sharing that stage with him and more:

EXCLUSIVE: Jim Jones Experiences A Down Syndrome Diddy Bop (VIDEO)

Let’s rewind a bit. Yesterday (August 5th) we showed you footage of Jim Jones explaining how he was almost killed due to him dissing the honorable Louis Farrakahn. If you watch that video carefully, Jim Jones told Cipha Sounds his diddy bop had down syndrome.

If you didn’t look closely do not worry because the UCB Theater improv actors, especially Christian Capozzoli, put on a few hilarious reenactments of what down syndrome diddy bops actually look like.

Cipha Sounds’ Take It Personal is every Friday at 9pm at the UCB Theater on 153 3rd St on Avenue A.

Check out the UCB Theater’s improv actors show Jim Jones what happens when someone’s diddy bop has down syndrome:

Non Hip-Hop Rumors: Media Take Out Records?

I heard a crazy rumor! But, I’m thinking there may be some truth to it. OK, crazy, but could the gossip giant Media TakeOut be creating a record label to pump out R&B music that would appeal to the masses?

A birdie told me that is possible in the form of MTO Records! Now, I was told that – IF this is real – they would target talented artists that live in the reality world. For example, K. Michelle is dope and she would be a candidate for MTO Records. She’s obviously signed, but you get the picture.

The only thing I have yet to determine – aside from verifying the facts – is who will be running this venture. Typically, a mogul or former label executive would run this. I’ve yet to determine WHO this person could be and have no leads. Maybe JD? I don’t know. This can’t be life.

Just Blaze Talks About How His Computer Skills Helped Revolutionize The Industry

(AllHipHop News) In today’s world a music producer and a computer engineer have a lot in common. Both technicians manipulate digital software to create a desired outcome. One well-known Hip Hop beat maker happens to literally be both. Just Blaze spoke with Wired.com about how he originally broke into the music industry by reprogramming Motorola P900 two-way pagers.

“Back then, there wasn’t such a thing as ringtones for your phone,” said the former Rutgers computer science student. “But Motorola included an app that allowed you to make customizable tones. The way you had to enter the music into the pager wasn’t really a musical approach. It was more a mathematical thing.”

Just mastered creating exclusive ringtone remixes of popular songs that included reverb, delay, and drum sounds. His innovative technique helped gain him notoriety.

He goes on to talk about how he built a Pro Tools rig on his laptop back in 1997, something the program’s creators said was not possible at the time.

“It took a lot of time, a lot of trial and error, and quite a bit of money, but I was able to fashion my own Pro Tools rig that ran off an old Powerbook,” explained Just. “I used to roll it into sessions and engineers would look at me like I was from another planet because nobody had anything like this in New York, or in the business, at all.”

The producer of tracks like Jay Z’s “Girls, Girls, Girls,” Kanye West’s “Touch The Sky,” Jay Electronica’s “Exhibit C,” and Eminem & Lil Wayne’s “No Love” recently joined the revamped Priority Records.

Kanye West Will Perform BLKKK SKKKN HEAD At MTV Video Music Awards

(AllHipHop News) The MTV Video Music Awards will feature a BLKKK HEAD after MTV confirmed that Kanye West will perform at this year’s VMA’s from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

This will be Kanye West’s first solo performance at the Video Music Awards since 2008’s “Love Lockdown” show ender. That performance was infamously succeeded by Kanye’s music exile-inducing interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 Video Music Awards.

Hip-Hop Rumors: DMC Responds To Rumors Of Dissing Jay-Z and Lil Wayne!

DMC has reached out to me to clear up the rumors of him dissing Jay-Z. Peep what he told me EXCLUSIVELY! If you use the following, please credit illseed and AllHipHop.com. THANKS! Thank it away, DMC!:

I could never DISS Lil Wayne or Jay Z!

They are very good and successful at what they do! I would and could never disrespect either of these two men!

Their success is my success!

I love and respect Lil Wayne! He treats me well and is very very nice to me and my family!

And Jay Z inspired me and assured me  that great Hip Hop will exist forever in all generations and eras when he dropped Hard Knock Life, which one of my favorite Hip Hop songs ever! Hard Knock is incredible to me!

After reading the negative comments coming at all of us, I had to personally apologize to my two fellow artist!

I do not like negative s###! I cannot tolerate anything that will divide us and our Hip Hop Culture!

The power is in Wayne, D and Jay standing side by side representing this sacred culture together! No matter how “different” we may be!
Now with that being said, the point I was trying to make is that Jay and Wayne(and even me when I was on radio all day) aren’t the only ones that are so called “hot” because there is a lot of talent that may be just as “hot” and even better, but they don’t get heard on the radio.

All I’m saying is a DJ should be able to discover an incredible ass rapper in any city state or country today, and be able to come on the air tomorrow, and play that song…but he or she can’t…because of programming!
