Drake Gets 12 Nominations for BET Awards; Show to Air Live on June 30th
(AllHipHop News) Toronto’s own Drake has been nominated for 12 awards at this year’s BET Awards set to air live on June 30th from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.
BET announced the nominees Tuesday (May 14) as rappers Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz were offered eight awards, A$AP Rocky is up for five, Miguel for four, while Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, and Miguel are up for a trio of awards for their work this year.
Drake was nominated three times for the video of the year (“Started from the Bottom,” “No Lie,” “Problems”) but will face some popular competition that includes Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie,” Kanye West’s “Mercy,” “Adorn” by Miguel and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop.”
Chris Brown and R. Kelly are also set to perform, while Chris Tucker will host the BET Awards.

The Roots, J. Cole, Marsha Ambrosious and More Set to Perform at Wawa Welcome America! Festival
(AllHipHop News) As part of celebrating the nation’s birthday, Wawa, VH1 and the city of Philadelphia have teamed up to the put together the Wawa Welcome America! Festival, billed as “The Largest Free Concert in America.”
Joined by Mayor Michael N#####, the city of Philadelphia will celebrate the 4th of July Jam with a host of artists including The Roots, John Mayer, Jill Scott, Demi Lovato, Neyo, Grace Potter and J. Cole. Also set to perform will be Ben Taylor, son of legendary folk rock artists James Taylor and Carly Simon, and several surprise guests. An additional performance will be by Marsha Ambrosious on July 6th at the Taste of Philadelphia.
“The City of Philadelphia is proud to welcome an incredibly talented group of musicians to our city this Fourth of July,” said Mayor N#####. “We believe that this year’s festival will go down in history as the best yet. We know that Philadelphia is the foremost place to celebrate our nation’s birthday. With this superb lineup of talent, we have an opportunity to prove it to the world.”
There will be many highlights from the festival, one of which will be the Adventure Aquarium Waterfront Fireworks Spectacular on July 6th after Marsha Ambrosious’ performance on July 6th
This year’s 2013 festival calendar looks to boost tourism by providing visitors with enticing reasons to stay in Philadelphia after the Fourth of July holiday.
“Wawa Welcome America! is looking forward to putting on another outstanding festival this year,” said Desiree Peterkin-Bell, City Representative and Executive Director of Welcome America, Inc. “We are determined to provide our guests with the best possible experience during this 20th anniversary year, and we believe that the musical talent secured for this year’s festival will help us achieve just that.”

(AllHipHop News) Eve is only 34 years old and is a 15 year veteran in the Hip Hop game. Her last album, Eve-olution released in 2002 and 11 years later, the Ruff Ryders legend is gearing up to release her fourth studio album Liplock.
While label troubles severely prevented her from releasing new music, the Philly bred rhyme spitter is now the head of her own label, From The Rib Music and has partnered with SONY Red Distribution to release her new album. Eve sat down exclusively with AllHipHop to talk about the sound of Liplock, her legacy and more, including her take on today’s current music scene.
