So, folks are still doing the blame a Black guy thing.
Ashley Depew, a 23-year-old St. Louis woman, told police she was hit in the face by “black thugs,” according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. She said a group of young black men approached her while she was standing outside of a bar and began beating her. She claimed the men scattered leaving her eye swollen shut.
Upon further investigation police uncovered that no one in the bar could recall the incident and Depew’s story was generally not adding up. As it turned out, Depe’s boyfriend, Justin Simms, punched her in the face and she lied to keep him from getting arrested.
Depew and her boyfriend were arrested for making a false report to the police but there’s no word yet on whether charges will be filed.
They should get some kind of disciplinary action. Her selfish lie could have gotten innocent men, who are already racially profiled in excess, arrested or possibly even killed.
