Atlanta’s International Music Conference Gives Aspiring Artists Access to the Global Music Scene

THE 2012 INT’L. MUSIC CONFERENCE TOUCHES DOWN IN ATLANTA ON AUGUST 8

(AllHipHop News) With a goal to present aspiring artists with clear routes to accessing the global music scene, the 2nd Annual International Music Conference (IMC) returns to Atlanta from August 8-11, with a star-studded panel of recording industry heavyweights.

“The IMC provides invaluable feedback and advice about taking your career to the next level,” says IMC CEO/Founder Julia Huie-Martin. “A lot of our registrants from last year are still in contact with panelists from last year.”

In addition to the showcases, there are numerous panels including: Breaking into International Markets, Maximizing the DJ Network, and Crossing the Globe: Marketing & Promoting Overseas. Last year’s IMC panelists included Rico Love, Bangladesh, and Don Cannon.

This year proves to be no less of a stellar panel draw, featuring DJ Green Lantern, as well as Grammy-award winning producers J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Chuck Harmony, Drumma Boy, and Kane Beatz. The panels also feature dozens of recording industry executives and attorneys.

“It’s a great opportunity to do some real networking,” says Huie-Martin. “The IMC prides itself on quality over quantity. We have some of the biggest names in the business that can help you get that one step further in your career.”

This year’s conference offers attendees prizes that include a trip to London, England, the opportunity to work with a chart-topping act from Europe, and one-on-one meetings with executives and VPs from Sony Records and Atlantic Records.

Established in 2011, the four-day event brings together key music professionals, radio personalities, DJs, executives, artists, managers, producers, songwriters, booking agents, and promoters from around the globe for panel discussions, workshops, closed-door meetings and networking opportunities. The IMC also features showcases for producers, artists, and songwriters, which provide the registered attendees with immediate feedback on their work and its viability to translate into global success.

The 2012 IMC will kick off on Wednesday, August 8 with a private “Welcome to Atlanta” Industry Mixer; Thursday will feature the DJ Mix-Off and Producer Showcase; Friday is the Artist Showcase; and Saturday is dedicated to a full day of educating developing artists from 9AM to 7PM.

“Atlanta’s a great music mecca that needs to be put on the global map, much in the same way Nashville, L.A., and NY is. A lot of people from overseas overlook Atlanta and it’s a shame because most of the biggest stars out right now are from here,” says Huie-Martin. “Having IMC here is exciting because of the potential of people from all over the world coming together, working, and making great music.”
