(AllHipHop News) One of America’s biggest traditions, The Super Bowl, kicks off today with the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens facing off in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Two brothers, Jim and John Harbaugh face off as coaches of the respective teams. Many commentators have even gone as far as to call this game the Hargh-bowl.
Also this will be Ray Lewis’ last game, as he announced his retirement after coming back from torn triceps prior to the playoffs.
In the days leading up to the game Ray Lewis has been surrounded by controversy as a Sports Illustrated writer produced a story claiming Ray Lewis used performance enhancing drugs to get rehabilitated, specifically a substance found in deer antler spray.
The 49ers are seeking their 6th Superbowl, which would tie Wiz and Mac Miller’s Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowls ever by a franchise.
Rappers from the across the country weighed in on the big game that is likely to get over 100 million views. Last year’s Super Bowl reached 111.3 million viewers as the Giants‘ beat the Patriots.
“The @49ers ain’t never been to the Big Dance & tripped over they pants! #Questforsix,” 49ers supporter E-40 said.
But many in Hip-Hop seem to be cheering on the Ravens in Super Bowl 47 as Rick Ross, Pusha T, A$AP Rocky and others have side for Ray Lewis’ squad.
“#GoRavens #SuperBowl #Wings RT @wingstop: @WingstopMemphis Have a great Sunday guys!” Rick Ross said as he re-Tweeted Wingstop’s tweet to the Wingstop he owns in Memphis.
“You know the Baltimore Ravens are gonna win that joint,” Pusha T said in an interview with MTV. “Ray Lewis is saying he’s going to retire [and] I think he brings a lot of energy to the whole National Football League, and what better way for him to go out?”
“They’ve got a team member called Flacco,” A$AP Rocky said of the Baltimore Ravens Joe Flacco and eluding to a Baltimore Ravens victory.
“My team’s not in it,” Weezy said of his Green Bay Packers. “So I ain’t trippin’.”
While Lil Wayne was indifferent, he was also happy for the Hall of Famers that were announced this weekend as well.
“Yeaaaah C. C!!! Congrats 2 Cris Carter & Warren Sapp! Hard work is better than all work but nothing is better than when it’s appreciated,” Lil Wayne Tweeted.
