EXCLUSIVE: Master P Discloses Why Fat Trel Deal Wouldn’t Work On No Limit

(AllHipHop News) Last February, Master P, Fat Trel and Alley Boy released their debut mixtape as the group Louie V Mob with New World Order. Five months after the release of that mixtape, Fat Trel announced he was signing with Maybach Music Group and today (April 5th), Master P explains why Fat Trel would not have  worked well on No Limit Records.

During an interview with MTV this past Thursday (April 3rd), Fat Trel explained vaguely why his working relationship with Master P

It didn’t go right. Things weren’t done correctly on the business tip, so me and Master P have no relationship

In an EXCLUSIVE  by AllHipHop, Master P states “what didn’t go right? I didn’t have any business deal with Trel, we  only did a mix tape . We had no there business but, I wish him the best of luck on MMG.” He also goes on to state:

I went above and beyond for Fat Trel. I took him out a negative environment, got him a safe place to stay in Los Angeles, transportation, put money in his pocket, paid for plane tickets and hotels for him and his team, got him exposure, put him on music with me and all without a contract just because I believed in the little homie.

P affirms that him and other Louie V Mob member Alley Boy “built a real relationship” and “he understands loyalty and respect”.

Check out the full statement below:

“Fat Trel is a good rap artist but the No Limit Forever brand is about building entrepreneurs and business partners. When I was around Fat Trel, he was in a rush to getting a check and a record deal versus being patient and building his own to be a true boss. I even spoke with his manager and told him that this was not an overnight process. I’m not in the business of signing artists, this second go round I want to help all of my artists/partners to become their own boss but that requires sacrifice and hard work if you want to make millions. I’m not just cutting checks and taking care of artists anymore. No Limit Forever is a real independent company, this is not just a write-off for us. And if you’re a real street dude, you would appreciate me for what I’ve already done for you and your family. And I told his mother that I would do my best to help him. I admit I was surprised when I heard that he did a deal with Wale because I thought they didn’t like each other. But I wish him the best with MMG, I think it’s a better fit for him as an artist.

Alley Boy is my partner. We built a real relationship. He’s a real stand-up street guy, he understands loyalty and respect. It ain’t just about music with us, we thug it out no matter what. He still has his own business Duck Tape Records. We’re working on new music projects with No Limit Forever and movies. The movement continues

While Master P is a loyal nicca, some might say he threw his brother under the bus (C-Murder).
Shout out to Master P for being one of the first southern niccas I Fu(ked with, Ghetto D, CLASSIC in the hood. May no of gotten no play in NYC but I still got my No Limit CD cases in all them Starburst colors! WHo remember those? Who remember the Dip Set and Master P song?
Trel, nicca would of been dumb to sign the No Limit. 15-17 years ago, 100% go for it. MMG will let you eat, Ross like to show his plate to starving niccas.
    QUEENS!

    • Mike

Fat Trel didn’t wanna be patient and learn how to get independent money and be a real boss instead he goes and get sign to three labels Wale, Ross, and Atlantic that’s 3 different dudes taking there not counting his manager cut. P is basically saying Artist will jump teams and sign on the dotted line for a quick buck and fame instead of being a real independent boss and being in control of your money and not having to answer to no one.

      • Inmadopicouroz✓QUEENSᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

  • Montezuma1

Master P is damn near 50 years old. I respect his legacy but his lane been shut down as an artist. Fat Trel realized he had to cash in now or never and as well intentioned as P may’ve been it’s not gonna happen with him. I’m not gonna get into the speculation but signing to No Limit at this point is like signing to SoSo Def. It’s a new day. And please don’t start talking about how much money P got because no one knows for sure what any of these rap moguls have. There’s so many lies and deceptions going on I don’t believe anything I hear about these people.

    • tha OG

      So true!

    • Flight_91

      Nah P got long money 4real..People lie..but.Forbes doesn’t lie..

      • NeronWillRise

Forbes lies constantly. What are you talking about?

You honestly believe those figures they say?

      • Flight_91

Give Me an example of where they lied..

      • NeronWillRise

Every single net worth figure they’ve ever given.

There’s no way to know a person’s exact net worth unless you’re their accountant and often even that’s just a guesstimate because numbers fluctuate. Plus, you don’t think PR people pay for that kind of placement? Not to mention silent investments, stocks, etc.

Jay Z might be worth twice what we know and 50 Cent might be worth 1/3.

      • Flight_91

But Think about it..everything Jayz is doing now..P did it first..So you don’t think this man is worth a couple 100 M’s or so?

      • NeronWillRise

No. If you take those figures as truth, it’s about what they value assets at if they sodl right NOW. Like if Jay sold his stake in Roc Nation, Rocafella, everything he owned, right at this moment. He’s not gonna do that. They’re not just banking $200 million in cash.

So imagine Jay Z fell off like P has. No Limit isn’t worth 1/10th of what it used to be. He’s not a sports agent anymore. He’s not putting out albums. Plus No Limit went bankrupt. So no, he doesn’t have hundreds of millions.

      • Flight_91

No Limit went bankrupt. Not P..That’s what business men do when they don’t want to keep Financing A company when it’s not doing as well as it once did. They file that company for bankruptcy..doesn’t mean they’re bankrupt..it’s A smart business move..You see your ship sinking..you sink it yourself..and walk away with all your chips without losing anything..Donald Trump has done it with quite A few of his businesses..

      • NeronWillRise

Not the point. Master P’s net worth was/is tied directly to No Limit’s worth. And No Limit isn’t worth much.

      • Flight_91

No..it’s his personal net worth..you do know money doesn’t disappear just because it gets old right?

      • Mike

You sound stupid P is a businessman he knew everybody is only hot for so long so he dropped a album every week for 2 years he then took all that money he made with that 80% deal he had and invested it into movies, cloths, real estate, gas stations, stocks, investments, and etc.

      • Sean Taylor

If you think Master P’s money is all tied up in No Limit you’re an idiot. You don’t what his portfolio looks like nor do I but I can guarantee you it’s not all tied up in music and or No Limit.

      • ZUBU

Bro, you speaking the truth. I always use Trump as the example of a person who has bankrupted several companies and lost money personally as well, but he is a billionaire once again. It is easy as heck rich folks influence elect/give monetary support to politicians, who design legislation that will benefit those who empower them. So as a result the laws/rules are designed to help the wealthy. The Trumps buy-up a company restructure it gut all the money out of the company then bankrupt the company then do it all over again after having made a substantial profit. Business 101…………………

      • Sean Taylor

        Finally someone who gets it!!!

I laugh when people think Diddy Jay etc. actually have 400K sitting in the bank. They are worth that IF they sold everything they own, have shares / stakes in IE: everything they can liquidate.

      • Work(s) Hard

        lol Forbes don’t lie.

      • Montezuma1

Man, I’m laughing like shit over here cause I know that was a joke. If his money was so long his wife wouldn’t be bailing. Women don’t abandon ship until it’s shipwrecked. His catalog and masters are worthless. His music isn’t the type to end up in major marketing plans. He’s done and he’s been done. I’m sure he has more money than me (lol) but he has no real influence. Smart guy but his reign has run its course.

      • Flight_91

lol Y’all saying Forbes lies..but give me an example of where they said somebody had 100 Million and up but they don’t have it..

      • Montezuma1

        They lied about P. lmao

      • Flight_91

So they tell the truth..about everybody but P lol..My point exactly

      • Flight_91

And now you see she begging him for support and tryna sue for half now right?..

      • Bust_1_InyaEye

Paul Mcartney’s wife bailed on him and his money is longer than the yellow brick road. Bitches roll cuz bitches wanna roll.

      • ZUBU

Exactly, bitches bounce for some of the oddest reasons in the world. Brothas need to revisit CASINO hmm… Ginger bounced on Sam and she got with that smuck scrub dude who didn’t have any paper. Biggie Small’s voice “I guess I’m Sam and you Ginger, go figure.” Tim “Mr. Fundamentally-Boring” Duncan’s wife bounced and slept with a personal trainer/ fitness-gym manager. Jordans wife bounced, Tiger’s wife bounced and I don’t think no athletes or former athletes have more money than Jordan and Tiger. Possibly Magic has a money on the same level, but Magic got the ultimate ride or die chick, shhiit wife stuck wth him when he came down with HIV….

      • Mike

P is a businessman you can ask any rapper even Birdman his so called rival and he said recently I’m still trying to catch up to Master P paper.

    • redcons

Trel wasn’t going to be signing to No Limit, the article says P doesn’t sign artists he wants business partners. He is trying to make artists into entrepreneurs, I see you too, would have done like Trel in just end up making other artists more money.

      • Montezuma1

Man P ain’t making no money. Trel figured it out. I never even heard of Trel but you gotta read between the lines. He’s in it for the paper and there wasn’t none around P. P ain’t been musically relevant since the 90’s. He tried to push his kids but they’re not gonna do it. Not trying to hate on P but what is he going to do for anyone’s career? He’s trying to revive his own and that it happening. It’s over.

      • dick fukabatch

P got old money as if u read he paid for trel and his people to come out to l.a…the problem is that the young nigga didnt want to listen to the old wise nigga.P was tryna build up trel in the business aspect so he could have long money but instead all trel is thinking about was the now check which is probably spent and owes a tax on. MMG as a label has no distribution its just rick ross fronting that. The deal trel did with MMG is exactly what P wasnt tryna to do with him

      • Montezuma1

Whatever he did for Trel got outweighed by a shitty deal from Wale. Flying somebody out somewhere and putting them up his regular nigga shit. That man didn’t ask for a vacation he wanted a deal.

      • dick fukabatch

well thats trel fault for selling himself short..P was trying to help the nigga trel increase his worth at the end of the day.all MMG is gonna do is squeeze the little worth out of trel cause ross and wale need to recoup

      • Mike

You sound dumb saying P aint making no money lol truth is your not making no money.

      • Montezuma1

Truth is you don’t even know who I am so you’re just talking out your ass.

      • Sean Taylor

Same way you don’t know who P is and you’re talking out of your azz.

      • Dude definitely got the business experience to teach trel how to really win for himself tho…I would have stuck wit P.

    • Work(s) Hard

Trel could’ve dropped this “Gleesh” tape WITHOUT BEING SIGNED. That’d be THREE EXCELLENT TAPES(Nightmare on E St, SDMG, GLEESH) to take to a major for a deal. Still P wanted him to build a following like Drake, Kendrick, ASAP ROCKY/FERG, Q. And do it “independent” lookup master Ps net-worth he could’ve funded him to the top.

      • Montezuma1

Look it up where? In hip hop mags and blogs full of lies? I’ll pass. He didn’t fund it for the same reason he didn’t save his brother. He couldn’t.

      • Work(s) Hard

Save his bro? C-Murder is in for Second Degree Murder…

    • GQ

      Yup!

  • Freebe Jackson

P saying he was gone show Trel how to get the long money …..Trel went to MMG to get the quick Fame and upfront check……Lets be honest …MMG artist that worked is Meek and Wale…both had a lot of solid followers before they signed….. Where is Pill…he was known in ATL but that was it for the most part…Trel was known in DC for the most part……Trel won’t be successful on MMG…not money wise…

    • Keylon Jackson Di Natale

meek mill followers was 47k on twitter and 12k on instagram remember he was on grand hustler he even recognize dat he got bigger on mmg as wale

      • Freebe Jackson

im not saying they didn’t get bigger on MMG…im saying they had a strong following before MMG …..Meek never dropped anything on Grand hustle……..just got a co sign from Tip…..Fat Trel will be lucky if his career gets as far as torch…he might end up like Pill….you act like Wale gone let Trel come take his spot…MMG has 3 niggaz making real music money and moves and about 15 niggaz signed to the label…Trel signed to a nigga thats signed to a nigga thats signed to label thats signed to a distributor …..

  • therealwayno

Not saying P was his best move, but why would you sign to Wale? I actually like Wale but still. That signed to a guy who’s signed to a guy, who’s signed to a guy thing is no bueno especially when all those guys you signed to are struggling for a spot themselves.

    • brollya

i jus said dis on another forum…. niggaz be thinkin cuz u signed to a major dat u gettin money….if p moved me to los angeles and my family and put money in my pocket, got me out the hood and i can record wenever i want, im a go hard for no limit till we pop off and no limit back on top….

wat wale go do for u besides get u caught up in arguing wit wrestling fans

        Real Shit

  • This one is a loss x 2 for Fat Trel. For one, he’s showing his inexperience in choosing a label. What recently has No Limit put out other than Master P himself? His son? The fact that Trel was even thinking about that move is a loss. It’s almost as bad as going over to Bad Boy.

The second way that he lost is by signing with Wale. For real? Wale? This dude knows absolutely nothing about being a boss. He hasn’t done anything. Why would I sign with a dude that doesn’t even know the industry himself? That’s like having open heart surgery with a dude that just finished getting his open heart surgery and only just finished reading about how to perform the procedure. Dumb!

What really went down is that Master P tried to pimp dude because he seemed kinda dumb. P thought he could get a little exposure on the back of a dude that had a little following, while at the same time getting a tax break (don’t get it twisted, that’s exactly what P was talking about in that letter). Master P thought he could get dude off of the strength of his name and not production. Pimp verus Dumb. That’s what it boils down to.

  • Executive

Looks like fat trel screwed his self, smh.

  • Flight_91

Nobody will deny Jayz or Pdiddy’s net worth..but I guess A black man from the south can’t be smart enough business man to make 350 Million dollars huh?..his net worth gotta be A lie

    • Montezuma1

Stop with your bullshit inferiority complex. You so busy worrying about niggas from up North. People called Jay out for lying about owning the Nets. There, you happy. Southern dudes with all their insecurities and need to feel important no matter what are so fukking annoying. Everything is us against them with small minded people. ALL rap mogiuls are propped up by the corporate structures that exploit us through them. Get a clue you backwards ignoramus.

      • Flight_91

Ok..So let’s disregard P OWNING masters to like 40+ gold and platinum albums and getting executive producing credits on all of them..Let’s act like this man didn’t have his hands in everything from clothing lines,Movies,Sports Agencies,Managing artists, the whole 9 and was successful at it all up from like 97-04..y’all constantly saying Forbes puts up phony numbers but give me an example of where they said somebody had 300 Million or more but there was proof that it wasn’t true..THEN you’ll have A point

      • Montezuma1

Owning the masters only has value if people use the music. Who’s using it? Clothing lines are a licensing deal with the owners being factories in Asia or Mexico. His films were straight to VHS (lol) the artists he managed were on his label. He botched the Ricky Williams deal as an agent. One of the worst in sports.history. Is this nigga your family or your hero? I hope so. He’s been washed since the late 90’s.

      • Flight_91

Not at all…We know P aint relevant now.and aint been for years.but let’s not act He wasn’t the ultimate hustler..and wasn’t finessing the big wigs for big percentages of everything with his name on it for years.and his net worth is A lie..And you still haven’t gave me an example of where forbes lied about somebody’s net worth…give me A solid example..if you can do that..I aint A bullheaded debater..I’ll see your point..but if you can’t then..well that’ll support my comment

      • Mike

P said it himself he’s not the best rapper in the game but I’m the best hustler in the game which is true. Listen to the Birdman interview on MTV and he said himself he still trying to catch up with Master P.

      • Flight_91

And you do know those straight to VHS movies were selling in the millions right?..that’s revenue playa

      • Montezuma1

All I know is P is 50 and trying to rap when there’s no demand for his music. That’s desperation. I don’t know what it sold but obviously not enough.

      • Flight_91

So Every other net worth Forbes posted was factual…but P’s?..is that what you’re saying?..Why his numbers gotta be phony?Because he aint been relevant in years?lol..y’all act like Just because you don’t see A person on TV every day their money evaporates…

      • bigdoe6

I’m Bout it sold over 8 million copies on VHS independently. Do the math homie. How could u call someone washed up if they can buy your life over a million times? You sound ridiculous. You’re they type of person if you see Master P in person you will ask him for a picture but deep down inside you hate this Black man cause he’s rich and your broke. Hate is a disease and you’re sick with it.

      • Montezuma1

Says P. You guys keep providing the beneficiary as the source. I don’t care what P says it sold. He’s broke. He’s still trying to rap at 50 because he’s a one trick pony and he can’t even do that anymore that’s why Fat Trel or whatever his name is bounced. P is washed. How many dudes worth 300 Million trying to do deals no one wannabe involved in? You dudes are hopelessly lost. If P made all that money where did it go? That’s more money than you can spend in a lifetime. All lies.

      • Sonny Tutimez

Yea dude we talking bout P..the 1st true hustler in hip hop to be the CEO/Rapper…this dude did stuff from the ground up and has never stopped owning and working…people think he broke because he was forced into bankruptcy by a group of creditors so they could collect what he owed him which is called an “involuntary bankruptcy”. And it is over 11 chapters you can file for bankruptcy and all of them mean different things Chapter 11 is the worst and I think he was made to file a Chapter 7 which is just certain debts be paid and certain stuff is cleared but credit score won’t be effected etc..

      • Montezuma1

“First true hustler.” You don’t think people like Russell had to hustle to introduce a completely new genre? Wait did they do an interview and get a job? Man you dudes are so self absorbed you can’t see the forrest from the trees. lmao

      • You laughing at that vhs shid but them bitches sold bruh……lmao.

  • J.Smitty

This dude just sound ungrateful. The OG took care of him. Some people don’t know how to appreciate a blessing. Fat signed a third party deal through Wale..not a smart move. He’ll be mad at Rick Ross next.

  • J.Smitty

Now he’s got a third party deal through Wale (a dude he supposedly had beef with a few months ago), through Rick Ross with Atlantic….DAMNN that’s a lot of hands in his pocket. I guess his choices were quick check now or long boss money later. Before this year is over I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes back again to say “this deal didn’t go right”

  • If any artists are looking to build a real following and get the labels calling you follow me on facebook. My resume speaks for itself.

  • MR. UNDI$PUTED THE MOGUL

HERE’S THE 1,000% TRUTH…1. MASTER P ONCE WAS 1 OF THE BIGGEST MOGULS OF RAP. 2. MADE A FORTUNE 3. OWNED 85% OF PUBLISHING OF HIS ARTISTS & MASTER’S……NOW OUTSIDE OF HIS KIDS’ NICKELODEON CAREERS’ NOTHING ELSE HAS WORKED SINCE THE OLD NO LIMIT FOLDED. THEIR OLD RIVALS CA$H MONEY IS STILL ROLLING 15 YEARS LATER & HE SAYS WE CAN DO IT AGAIN, THE PROBLEM IS NO ONE IS TRYING TO HEAR THE ARTISTS HE HAS. THE ONLY REASON CAT’S IS SHITTING ON FAT TREL IS THEY HATE MMG/RICK RO$$!!! SINCE THE NEW NO LIMIT CAME BACK 3 YEAR’S AGO ALL THEY’VE DROPPED IS MIXTAPES NO ACTUAL “RETAIL” RELEASES…ANY CAT WITH A REGULAR JOB CAN KEEP PUTTING OUT MIXTAPES. WHERE’S THE DISTRIBUTOR WHOSE GOING TO PUT “NEW NO LIMIT CD’S IN STORES NATIONWIDE?!?? FAT TREL BOUNCED BECAUSE HE COULD NOT ONLY GET A CHECK BUT GET VIDEOS DONE CONSISTENTLY & ONCE HE GETS HIS BUZZ UP, GET A RELEASE DATE!!!

    • therealjjohnson

Its the digital age fam…most music is purchased online and not in physical stores anymore. Cut out the middle man. The major difference would be marketing dollars to get the people hip to new artist. That is what major labels do…but only after you grind independent and create your on buzz. Basically…you still doing most of the work. Cut the middle man out, sell less records but make more money.

      • Mike

Can’t agree with you more . P released The Gift album in December digitally but he pressed up 15,000 physical cd’s for pre-order no distribution straight independent and he made more money off that then artist going Gold on major labels.

      • Montezuma1

And you believe that like you belive this has been washed up dude getting in his feelings over obscure rappers he can’t hold onto is worth 300 million. I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

      • Calico Joe

Damn bruh, you really hate the south don’t you? Or is it P? Can’t nobody take away what dude accomplished. Washed up or not, the n*gga still grinding. Do You got a mixtape out? Do you own a independent label? What the f*ck are you doing besides hating on blogs? No disrespect bruh, but quit hating the south.( rip Pimp C )

      • Montezuma1

I don’t hate the South. Just giving dudes a reality check. The discussion started off on topic and as usual it turned into The South Vs NY or the West Vs NY. Nobody from NY gives a fukk about that bullshit. We try to get paper anyway we can. The haters are always measuring and comparing and all I did was set them straight. Delusions of grandeur is a mofo. Niggas is drinking their own kool-aid. No matter what we say some dude from the South or out West find a way to disparage the birth place of the culture. Distortions must be corrected so lames and suckers can get back in their box. I presented facts. P’s masters are worthless because his music was trash. Nobody is gonna sample him. All these things people spout as an example of superiority must be put in the proper context. The South went Independent not because they’re better business men but because they had no choice and the first chance they got to get with a major they did. Ask Cash money. Even the independent accomplishment is a myth because none of them did their own distribution so they were all dependent on someone. I can go on. If speaking truth is hate then yeah I guess I do.

      • Mike

You sound stupid just last year alone Kayne West sampled Down for my nigga’s , Problem sampled How You Do That There , T.I. and Hustle Gang sampled Here I Go , Game sampled Haven 4 A Gangsta

      • I wanna know who dude listen too from new york tho….Bet u a no limit nigga prolly outsold his hero….

      • So master p’s music was garbage? Everybody on the label? Mystikal, mac, fiend, soulja slim? I have to ask who you like outta new york?

      • MR. UNDI$PUTED THE MOGUL

I can’t say what he made on that album what I can say is since the New No Limit is back I haven’t seen him or anyone he’s “partnered” with on the Forbes Top 20 Hip Hop Ca$h Kings List. I don’t begrudge him any $ucce$$, I just don’t see or feel any buzz for them anywhere at all. As of right now whose really waiting on “Benji B” or Miss Chee cd’s out side of there hoods??!?

      • MR. UNDI$PUTED THE MOGUL

I agree we are now in the digital age….but how many Independent artists outside of Macklemore are on tv with national videos, radio spins coast to coast moving units???? I remember before Drake signed with YMCMB, because of the buzz he had people said he should’ve stayed independent, it’s possible he could have had the same $ucce$$ however with the Universal machine behind him his albums are sold everywhere in the world on all types of formats.

  • blackie_chan

Rah Digga took that fat sucka out before he even took off.

  • BayHitta

Just some history….it took Russell Simmons 12 years to make $100 mill…it took Eazy E 2yrs, Suge knight 1yr, Jprince at rap a lot 2yrs…..it took jay-z and diddly to reach there net worth there whole career and net worth doesn’t mean cash in the bank, and remember J-lo the other day just out bided diddly on a $225milli media deal…it took Maser P and Cash Money Just 2yrs to make No limit and Cash Money a 350 million dollar empire by 2001, cash in the bank…Big Percy know what he talking about…..

    • Montezuma1

Flawed logic. Reggie Jackson made more than Willie Mays who made more than Jackie Robinson and Alex Rodriguez made more than all of them. The pioneers kicked in doors. What’s your point? There’d be no Master P without Russell Simmons. You dudes hate on NY so hard you adjust your timelines and stats to make it seem like history began with YOU. It didn’t. Now go sit down.

      • Mike

No there would be no Master P without J. Prince and P said that himself J. Prince and P took being independent to another level

      • Montezuma1

Did J. Prince start rap? Who inspired him to own a label and what does independent mean when you depend on someone else to put your records in stores and tell you how much you sold. A true INDEPENDENT does its own distribution which none of them did.

      • Something people don’t understand here.
it’s not the originators benefiting. It’s those
who follow up once the business is
established. Otherwise Kool Herc would be
bathing in money and did not have to ask
for donations when he couldn’t afford his
        Kidney surgery.

The pioneers on the entrepreneur side.

        Africa Bambataa
        Fab 5 Freddy
        Sylvia Robinson
        Malcolm MC Laren
        Russel Simmons
        Rick Rubin

Those people knew in the very beginning
this is way bigger than some block jams in the hood.

      • ZUBU

Fab 5 Freddy?? Just asking, I initially knew him from MTV Raps, etc. I knew he had background but was not aware that he had done things to rate on the level of the other mentioned individuals. I thought he had done club related things, did he own or start a label, manage, or produce??

      • Without Fab 5 Freddy Hip-Hop would have never left the Bronx. He connected Graffity to downtown art galleries.
He got investors involved and managed to get German ZDF Television to partly finance his “Wildstyle” Movie.
A lot of the entrepreneur spirit he brought it in. Otherwise there would have been rappers delight and that’s it.
He brought Blondie in. Her introducing “Grandmaster Flash” as the greatest DJ paved the way for the Message.
If not for Freddy’s Hustle, none of this actually happened.
You need to see. In the beginning none of the originators even thought this would last for more than one summer.

Fab brought B-Boys to the clubs in the village. There the scene was dominated by Punk, Disco and New Wave.
he really opened doors for people.

Fab goes way back to the early 70s as one of the graffiti pioneers. B-Boying and graf were the core of the culture.
Because these were the visible elements. DJs united the people by the way of the groove. And rappers really got their shine after “The Message” was out. Usually they would just hype the crowd for their DJ.

      • ZUBU

        Good looking Bro!
I didn’t know exactly what Fab 5 had done. I knew he had a history I didn’t know he went quite that far back. Peace..

      • Always welcome. It’s important to know the background to preserve the culture. This is also why it’s necessary to stop the hate. I wouldn’t participate in the talks which coast is superior. That;s totally nonsense. Even the talk what is more gangster or whatever. Fact is. There is no American music culture which was not started by black people in the Ghetto.
Rock and Roll, Jazz, Swing, Blues, Hip-Hop, House. They all share the same story.

Each 1 teach 1 and unite.

      • ZUBU

        Totally True!

      • Thanx Nerve

        Co-sign !!!

      • Mike

No independent is when you pay for everything out of your pocket without a label fronting you the dough it has nothing with having a distribution deal there two different things. You can own your own business online but you still need UPS , Fedex, and USPS to deliver the goods . Learn before you talk shit again.

      • Montezuma1

If that’s the case why does the south have so many wealthy has been music moguls. If all it takes is money why can’t they hold on to wack rappers like Fat Trel? lol

      • $crillaFornia

        Negative

    • Jayson C Williams

Are u talking about Suge? Who’s broke and is a government informant? You want facts now wow made 50 mill after his first 2 albums and he’s from ohio. Smh that ain’t got nothing to do with is sticking together. Keep tearing us down

  • BayHitta

Niggas from the west coast and the south know how to take street hustle and bring it corporate on some street shit in the hip hop industry….New York niggas don’t…California particularly the Bay Area is the biggest independent market, (hustle) in hip hop…where u think Percy got all that game from, that independent grind instead of waiting on a quick check…he got that game from the bay…that nigga P used to be from Richmond Ca…he took that independent game and went back to N.O…. That nigga know what he talking about

    • Jayson C Williams

Everybody always wanna shit on nyc but without us ya still be playing banjos or marching in gay parades. Rick Rubin Russel Simmons started this hustle this blue print ya taking credit for! Hip hop didn’t get discovered in the BAY! They worked as independent label up until there were successful enough to go commercial. Don’t forget your roots! Stop seperating us brothers by coast. Cause you got slave blood running in your vein just like we all do. Your mentality is like what master p is explaining about Fat trel. No business acumen or sense of loyalty. Just division and short sighted goals. S/o to p, only dumb niggaz wanna take credit for something that’s been around before they were born. Get ya facts correct!

      • David Gonz

u said gay parades then mentioned russel simmons. i dotn think you have any idea what youre talking about.

      • Jayson C Williams

Fact is you didn’t even pay attn to the scope of the argument therefore you need to mind yours or give an adequate argument. Fact is ya Bay Area ppl stick together southernes stick together when are we all gunna stick together huh? Always ready to tear down one another that’s why corporate America was able to infiltrate OUR ART and way of expression. Dumb lil niggaz

      • David Gonz

nigga you aint no a&r. keep reading your rap blogs gee maybe one day you will be

      • Jayson C Williams

And you ain’t got nothing to say keep hating and d I c k riding

      • $crillaFornia

Aint nobody shitting on NY, I fucks wit NY shit…But NY can’t accept the fact that its street hustlas from other places that mastered what they created and make millions quicker than they can with out they help….Nobody needs NY, but NY needs everybody…real talk….at they own hustle..

      • Jayson C Williams

Why does it have to be our hustle? Nigga if u didn’t do it better niggaz would be calling you a fool. Still seperating us? U don’t know what together means! That’s y white ppl get rich off our ignorant asses! There’s strength on numbers! Since u on thT bay sh1t my boy from Fillmore just visited nyc. He use to live here and doesn’t even wanna go back to the bay. SO if u wanna talk about what’s better, of course it’s the birth place of hiphop! But that doesn’t mean a nugga can’t rest in the west? Smoke some nice sess in the west! It’s all about building and joining forces ya silly niggaz still talking bout who’s better at an genral idea? Come on u Steve Jobs hate on Bill Gates?

      • Jayson C Williams

How u gunna tell us what we can’t except? U ain’t from here! I listen to 40 water! One of my fav. It ain’t got nothing to do with what your saying bro. It is hate cause nyc has nothing to do with this article. So you mentioning us shows your insecurities. Yes the bay ain’t nyc! But their grind is different and we respect it period! You can’t shit on a place that started OUR culture. So stop the non sense u got love for nyc than stop this attack on us! Only hot nation wide rapper from the bay is my man YG! And he get love here and loves it here. So stop this west coast and south vs the east. It’s bs! And if you a real stand up g than u know it don’t matter! Hustlers everywhere get down the same! They get moeny period!

      • Montezuma1

Bro these dudes are so ignorant it’s a shame and embarrassing. They’re primitive and anxious to feel relevant. All the so-called independent legends are washed up and been washed up. Most are piss poor at that. Look at Suge and he had Deathrow which was reportedly worth 300m at one time. They love that 300m number like they like the half billion mark today. Lil Wayne owes the IRS so much money. The truth is the music business is smoke and mirrors for everyone but the DISTRIBUTORS. Doesn’t matter where you’re from. That’s why Rocafella folded their hand and went with Def Jam. They bought into all that fantasy Master P and the rest were selling but the distributors keep multiple books and rob you anyway and since none of these guys are real gangsters there’s nothing they can do about it. These Bumpkins believe everything they read so long as it makes them look and feel good. The NY moguls knew the money was in branding and that’s why they’re still around. I don’t like Steve Stoute but what he did merging hip hop with marketing was genius. We started clothing lines and everything else these imbeciles try to take credit for. The level of ignorance is mind boggling.

Texas is the biggest independent based spot as far as music and niggas getting rich without a deal. A lot of artists want the shine and lifestyle over the long term money.

      • $crillaFornia

Do ya home work bruh…California is the biggest based independent spot in hip hop for getting rich without a deal….Everybody from Texas in the 80s-and part of 2000s was Rap a lot…Thats 1 label bruh…I fucks wit texas heavy…Ghetto Boys, Convicts, Fiend, Zero, just to name a few…Have you ever heard of Dangerous Music, Ruthless, Deathrow, Sick wit it, ThizzEntertainment, No Limit, Aftermath, Shady…these are all California based Labels and there just to name a few. I aint saying Niggas in Texas aint getting hiphop dough….But your statement was incorrect

      • $crillaFornia

Now if you said that the whole south hiphop region…then yeh….hell yeah…but texas its self…na bruh

      • Fredrick”The Truth” Douglass

I feel u the whole South region..no doubt!

      • $crillaFornia

No Limit is a cali label dude…them richmond niggas was gonna kill Percy so he left richmond and just did his thing in N.O. but no limit was started out here…Percy Grandpa died left him some money and he started no limit in Richmond bruh then moved back to the N.O..cash money is the shit..out of all those lo budget labels you just named besides cash money, and no limit…dont none of them labels even exist anymore or never even had a platinum artist other than swisher house, and that label is dead….Didnt none of those labels put out consistent Quality Platinum music…Like all the ones I named and thats a fact…those are 1 hit wonder labels…All those labels I named still exist, except tha row, and ruthless, and still putting out quality music..So you don’t know what you talking about….

      • $crillaFornia

And remember when you say the south your talking about 10 states bruh….when I say the bay Im talking about a 60 mile radius….catch my drift, and I’m not including L.A…..so you niggas better shine as big as the region is

      • What is quality platinum music? All the labels don 3 mentioned definitely put out quality music but what does platinum have to do wit…u saying if it’s not platinum it ain’t good? Remember 8 ball and mjg? Them boys was nice right? They went plat…hypnotized minds went plat with project pats mista don’t play……There are others of course but u get what I’m saying…u might wanna rewrite that none of em had platinum artists, makes you look like Uon know what u talking bout. By the way, where was you at bruh when these dudes was hot in the street cuz you obviously wasn’t listening to em getn hyphy or sumn? Lmao trust it’s actually plenty more….I just named two you prolly never heard of.

      • Fredrick”The Truth” Douglass

lol…do ya homework g….No limit had offices in Cali but its a southern based label, and If u think that Rap-a-Lot was the only Texas based label u must was under a rock or don’t know the independent grind that well. You had Wreckshop Records, Swishahouse Records, No Limit, Rap-A-lot, Cash Money Records, Hypnotized Minds Records, Blackboy Records, Stankonia Records, Poe-Boy, Slip-n-slide…and out of all these all but one went platinum out the trunk and some are platinum out the stores from 90-the 2000’s. Oh yeah I’m from the south and I bout can name more albums/songs than some of these niggas from the yay area. *note: don’t forget Sick-Made to my g…See I bumped all that Lynch Hung and D-Shot, The Click, B-Legit, 3x Krazy and the list goes on I’m true to this shit regardless of what area the music came from!-Fredrick”Idoesthis”Douglass

      • makuwalkbowlegg .

Not everybody was Rap a Lot in Texas, you must forgot about Suave House?

    • Montezuma1

You guys mastered getting to a certain point but the game is much bigger than anything you’ve accomplished. Local legends. Who from the Bay can put a dent in anything right now? Jimmy Iovine has to bless anything that comes out of Cali. That’s how he ended up with Kendrick. Everyone in the South got pimped by NY labels. Please tell me where they all get their checks from. Todd Moscowitz and Lyor pimped the entire Houston scene. The problem with you Bamas is you believe your own lies and hype. Who hustles harder in hip hop than Jay-Z and Diddy? Please tell me. All of y’all sound as ignorant and silly as your stereotypes. GTFOH

      • Sy

And what parent company pimped the biggest NY artist? Wouldn’t that be “Universal”…based out of California. Master P didn’t get pimped, that’s why he made money much faster than Jay and Puff, because he owned his merchandising, something that the NY hustlers shoulda known.

      • Montezuma1

Universal music is based in NYC. Universal pictures was started by Jews from NY who went west. Stop it man. You’re uneducated.

      • Sy

No, the headquarters is in California, always has been. And you’re allowed to name these Jews, so that we’ll know “exactly” who you’re talking about, and so that we’ll know “exactly” where they’re from. Since I’m “uneducated”, show me facts, and I’ll admit it…if I’m wrong.

      • Dude ain’t shid wrong with being a local legend if you getn that bread and ain’t getn jerked by a label, independents keep them folks out ya pocket, does that sound like a good or bad thing? Keep it real bruh.

      • Montezuma1

I agree. The problem starts when local relevance turns into delusion. Everyone need to be real with themselves and worry about what THEY do and got going on instead of always bashing entire regions. I turnt up on the board to give everyone a taste of what they dish out everyday. They talk about NY as if they had a bad experience to verify the nonsense they talk. They talk about NY like it’s one guy named NY. They don’t even realize NY dudes helped Ice T way back in the day and when NWA flipped on Cube it was PE and the Bomb Squad that threw him a life line. Even Pac who started all this NY hate they carry on with rolled with NY dudes cause he was a NYer. These people are ignorant and sometimes I like to rub their noses in their BS. I respect what P did in his day and I respect how E-40 was able to make a career making music I don’t care for. They found their lanes and made it work for them. That’s commendable. However, the bash NY attitude gotta cease. We gave everyone of your rap heroes the the option of being a rapper rather by creating rap. Be respectful. Say something good or nothing at all.

    • Jared

How NY get into the mix though?, lol

      • Montezuma1

It’s called hate and they all hate us on the low because they wanted to be in our shoes for so long. Once they got a little shine they can’t stop looking over their shoulders long enough to enjoy the ride. lol

      • Jared

Lol, thats what I’ve been noticing. They remind us we loosing or whatever without counting our wins. The only reason they were all independent was because record labels weren’t checking for them. Simple as that. NY hustle has nothing to do with anything. I just really want to know why he put NY into this? LMAOOO

      • Montezuma1

These dudes are natural born haters. They hate NY so much East Coast mean NYC to them. lol Last I checked UMG, Warner and the rest were right in NY. Madison avenue where they all get endorsement deals is in NY. The publishing industry they get book deals from is in NY, Everything they lust after that they didn’t know about until we showed them is in NY. Fukking ingrates. lol

      • Sy

I’m down with every coast there is, but in the 90’s, New York dudes were acting like they were better than everyone else out there; they weren’t humble, they were arrogant. They acted like they were the only ones that had game, and street smarts, but that turned out to be false, and everyone knows that now. They pissed off a lot of people with their insults, just like how you’re doing right now, saying that people didn’t know about something…until New Yorkers showed them. The only reason those companies you named have offices there, is because there are more people jammed into that city, not because the people themselves are anything special.

      • Montezuma1

The 90’s? When Deathrow ruled? lol. Okay. Those companies have offices there because it’s the financial capital of the world. Ever heard of Wall st? lmaooooo

      • Sy

I’m not sure what you’re “laughing your ass off” about, but you didn’t make a point. The reason wall street is in New York, is because of the convenience of trade route for shipments from back in the day, it has nothing to do with New Yorkers being more business minded, or hustle saavy. You wrote ” Everything they lust after that they didn’t know about until we showed them is in NY. Fukking ingrates. lol”. You say “we”, as if you yourself showed someone how to navigate their way through the world of commerce. You have this undeserved sense of accomplishment that you brag about, and it’s insulting, that’s what people don’t like. You sound like those fans with the football jerseys on, talking about “we” won 4 superbowls. Tell me exactly what it was/is…that New Yorkers taught the so called “ingrates”?

      • Montezuma1

The only reason why… you even know about rap is because NY was on the right trade route back in the day. lol That’s what you’ll be saying next.

      • $crillaFornia

because NY is irrelevant without help from other artist that are not from NY

      • I’m from the midwest and used to listen to music from all sides, I dug new York music too bruh but them niggaz been sitn on the shelf complaining for quite some time now….New York ain’t won shid in years bruh…just the truth…

    • shoon1

Ny niggas still hunting down A&Rs and standing in front of radio stations trying to get they shit played

Despicable mofos. lmao

    • HATER PROOF

because ny niggas be lying my dude …..they be ego trippin but not all just ny leadership…..in this hiphop culture……..

    • ERIC JACKSON

LMAO nobody cares about NY fam. I think more than anything people are stating the fact that NY was elitist in its views of other regions and now they are at the bottom and trying to ride the coattails of other regions because Ny lost their heart. I personally believe the game was better when it was regional everyone had their own sound. As far as the being gay thing NY rappers have been very outspoken about letting homosexuality in Hip Hop and how sexual preference shouldn’t matter. LMAO stop it fam.

      • digitallife

Bottom? LMAO…cause the people in hip-hop are more interested in signing dumb mofo’s from everywhere else..NYC mofo’s stopped falling for that okie doke deal bullshhh but not the south…they’ll happily sign anything that sees them in a brand new car and a chain. When the block gets cold a pimp takes his game to where game has never been…NYC hip-hip is well and alive it’s just not commercially being pushed because rappers aren’t signing deals to sit under other rappers like they used to and that’s 70% of the game now. But go ahead and blather on as to what you believe is the cause for that…even though the facts state and have stated otherwise for years now.

      • $crillaFornia

good for y’all…we are too…with out y’all love….like our media outlets show y’all coast and we aint complainig about shit

      • digitallife

without our love there is no hip-hop…every rapper from planet earth descends on NYC and calls it their coming out moment for a reason…it ain’t even about coast cause I mess with music from everywhere but the way mofo’s trying to shhh on NYC is ludicrous…it starts and ends here…every royalty check in music originates from here and so on but hey fk it to each their own.

  • black god

All these niggas arguing over labels and who got a better hustle, but none of yall got shit.lol

    • $crillaFornia

I balls nigga….real talk, and rub elbows with plenty of street niggas in the rap game square ass nigga

Loyalty is an understatement in regards to that man! FLITE KLUB SALUTES YOU ALLEY B!

    • big daddy goosh goosh da Voice

AYE IM TRYING TO POUND DAT ASS BOI

  • Dipshit Mcgee

Fat Trel might as well be from “New” York. Nothing new coming from that shit hole anyway

    • digitallife

LMAO….still salty are you…without NY there would be no hip-hop…this is like a son dissing the ball sack that spawned him..

      • $crillaFornia

right…and all them mutha fucka where you from wouldn’t exist either so stop making senseless points

      • digitallife

Nigg* you made no sense…STFU while ur ahead son…you sound super f’ing stupid with that shhh…it started here..if it wasn’t for hip-hop none of them mofo’s would be about nothing without it….go watch an interview with Krs or Bambatta or Herc and educate yourself because you sound real real new to hip-hop. Ya’ll mofo’s act like without hip-hop them south mofo’s would be doing something else making millions…fk outta here.

      • $crillaFornia

Not true….have you ever heard of too short….go listen to a song called…”from here to NewYork”…it came out in 1984….the problem is, it is and was so much hiphop coming out of the west coast coast in the early 80s that don’t have nothing to do with NY, and NY people don’t even acknowledge it, so if you do a history lesson on hiphop it was you will know this, y’all was scared to curse on songs in the early 80s….hiphop was gonna come out anyway…so stop it with that we started rap and if it wasn’t for us y’all would have anything…bruh please

  • Well, let Trel take that L

  • rs_yes

Everyone talking about which “coast” is number 1 with independent sales. I need to see some numbers..a.k.a #FACTS. Stop running off about NY, WEST Coast and SOUTH record sales without posting some FACTS? Since we are on the topic, would you rate sales numbers (facts) based on total sales (including merchandise, record sales, record spins, downloads [free and paid], Youtube hits, Twitter/Facebook followers, etc) from the artists OR the label that they’re are under?
All this reckless chatter about business, and I’m willing to bet none of you clowns understand how to run a business strategically.

    • Ramesses The Great

Obviously you don’t understand, because you would be posting real numbers instead of asking someone else to. Oh yeah, I see through your hatred for the south.

      • rs_yes

No need for me to post any numbers because I’m not on here boosting any coast or area lol. My point still stands – just like in the corporate offices, don’t talk about it without facts. Yet, I come back on here days later and not one person pointed out a reference, link, or any type of statistics. And again, NO…I’m not spending time looking up anything if I’m not the one claiming a statement. #ImJustSayin

Ok…no more slacking at the office! back to work I go…

      • Brick Soulja

        Your point is moot.

    • $crillaFornia

aint nobody said no coast was better…I just said the west coast has been just as involved in hiphop as much as NY, but with out as much media or radio play from the east coast but we are still find ways to be successful and beat you at your own game…thats all…and thats the fuckin truth

      • digitallife

More stupidity…NY radio plays more south music than coastal music. Check the damn spin tallys for 2013…n’s stay acting like NY hates the south…

      • BayHitta

        Yeh now they do…

      • digitallife

LMAO..clearly you didn’t bother to go look at the spin stats like I told you…if you had you wouldn’t still be here reply with that dumb shhhh…South, midwest and west coast music have been the dominantly spinned music on NY airwaves since 1998 bruh..first time I heard about the bay area movement was on a NYC radio..first time I heard master p was on ny radio..first time I heard z-ro was on a nyc radio station, first time I heard mystikal, b.g., and countless others was on NYC radio…but you say “Now they do”….SMFH

      • $crillaFornia

when…at 3oclock in the morning…..so what is your point….were talking about the lack of success of NY artist who get more radio, media, attention than anybody but complain about what everybody else do….but now the south is dominating everything…we aint aint hating, we just do our thing

  • digitallife

Hip-hop has become the new pyramid scheme..sign a dude and get half of his business..he signs the next dude and gets half of his business..that guy signs the next guy and gets half of the business..whoever was the first to sign up folks always gets the most bread. If you aren’t signing directly to a major or indie yourself don’t bother because 3 to 4 years later when you are broke filing for bankruptcy in front of your accountants going over your statements is when you’ll realize half your money has already gone to other people before you saw a dime of it.

Problem is most of y’all think small. Every region had its shine pretty much, nothing new. Now its about globalization, hitting a world market. I mean people could argue for days about what region run america, but the real is the artist that make that overseas long money. Jay, Diddy, Kanye, Eminem, T.I. Snoop, they make long bread in Europe, just came from over there, they are loved, and tour all the time, thats what keeps them hot here. Shoot even PItbull stay relevant cuz of his spanish speaking abilities which opens up his market. Now that is a West coast dude, N.Y dude, chicago dude, New Orleans Dude, Atlanta dude, and Detroit, dude, Miami dude. What coast run shit??? No clear winner as far as regions on that scale. Gotta think bigger than the U.S. these days. Thats wayne’s problem, big in the U.S. but can’t get any overseas love. Drake getting over there too, plus he got the Canada thing. U.S. isn’t everything. Even artist like public enemy and them get mad love in Europe, plenty of video with P.E. taking about why they love performing our there, those kids breakdancing and doing graffiti in the streets of London, it was ill. Point is its a ripe market to get in on and it is where the top artists heads are these days.

    • Savimbi

Yep I was in Belgium last summer, and all you could hear on the radio was Wiz on all radios lol with the cuss words and all that, funny because that’s where the economy is headed too, the markets are globalized now, it also applies to the music industry, leave it up to the bloggers you would think Wiz, 50, and other artists were finished career wise on the state side, but these guys are out doing 20 city tours in Australia n shit lol selling out venues etc….

      • BulldogCG

I am in education and that is the movement in that arena too. Globalization is everywhere. Synthesizing ideas is the new trend. Obviously because business drives educational focus, we move how that market moves. Have to get our students ready for next generation jobs.

  • yo yo yo

50 is open to working with other artists now. Of course he is… his career ended 6 years ago and now he is desperate to get a buzz. He didn’t want to play with the other kids when he was popping. Now he switched up his whole approach out of desperation.

    • BulldogCG

He tried to play P for doing the same thing, lol.
