Reeps One, B-ART & Michael Winslow To Headline American Beatbox Championships

AMERICA’S TOUGHEST BEATBOXING BATTLE HEADING TO NYC IN OCTOBER

(AllHipHop News) The 5th Annual American Beatbox Championships will feature film screenings, workshops, panels, showcases, a visual art exhibit, and battle competitions. Some of the world’s best beatboxers including UK Champion Reeps One, Netherlands Champion B-Art, and legendary vocalist Michael Winslow will be on hand for the weekend long event.

The grand final of the American competition will be held in Webster Hall’s Marlin Room on Sunday, October 12. It will be hosted by Hasan Salaam and Patrick Cucuta. In addition to this year’s musical showcases the event will feature the visual arts exhibit “Graphic Vocals” at TBA Brooklyn. The artwork of Reeps One will be part of the exhibition. The festival will also screen the award-winning film American Beatboxer which is also being presented at Harvard University’s “Visiting Artists” series.

The World Beatbox Association teamed up with other American beatbox organizations to produce four regional battles across the country. Eight of the final sixteen were selected through that process. The American Beatbox Championships will select the remaining top 8 with qualifying battles at Lot45 in Brooklyn on the event’s opening night Friday, October 10th. It will also hold its first annual 2 vs 2 team battles and loopstation battles at Brooklyn Bazaar on Saturday, October 11. That showcase will be  hosted by Canadian beatboxers Balu Ballistic and Bbk.
