Nothing against Jay, but it seems that the person who put this together knows absolutely nothing about Jay. This sample is entirely too focused on the hooks and the production breakdown points. Anyone who's a real fan of Jay-Z knows that his fan base ain't checkin for that bullshit - we're checking for the wordplay and complexities in his flow.

These samples seem a little too geared to the head bobbers. Just one man's opinion though.

REAL HIP HOP APPROVED......Jay actually surprised me wit this.... There are a few dull tracks but overall I'm impressed..

I'm a late 70's baby so all of the ol skool samples he used on the album....I remember when my parents used to play those records when I was young...(That's giving the album soul people. Don't know what that is do some research. Start with James Brown)...THAT'S SOMETHING THAT MOST PEOPLE WHO WERE BORN IN 1987 AND UP CAN'T RELATE TOO... JUST LIKE KINGDOM COME....which I feel is a classic.

I think Jay-Z's AMERICAN GANGSTER CD will be treated like  his REASONABLE DOUBT CD....

REMEMBER REASONABLE DOUBT WAS SLEPT ON HARD BY CRITICS WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT..... Then right before JAY-Z's IN MY LIFETIME VOL 1 dropped EVERYBODY WAS CALLING REASONABLE DOUBT a classic....

AMERICAN GANGSTER will be the new bandwagon CLASSIC ALBUM once the younger generation see majority of people playing it loud in their trucks, cars, and SUV's....REALTALK.

P.S. Now maybe people will give more credit to Dame Dash, and Kareem Biggs for help shaping Jay-Z's rap career.

so far so good. waiting to hear the whole cd. it just kills me how some haters hate so much that they can't even notice good music when they hear it. its just snippets.

I'm feeling JAY-Z AMERICAN GANGSTER album but after hearing a few of SCARFACE new songs I think SCARFACE would've made a better AMERICAN GANGSTER CD than JAY-Z....

That is the fucking quote of the CENTURY right there!!! Half these cats talkin' that "it don't get me like Reasonable Doubt" didn't buy that shit until the re-release of it. Jay is consistantly ahead of his time. When Reasonable came out, people didn't get it for years. The same went for Kingdom Come. The same will be true with this one. You know...a wise man told me don't argue with fools, 'cuz people from a distance can't tell who is who. With that said....this album sounds like Jordan's 6th ring!!! Legends always find a way to win.

You see I love that old school feel. How could you not understand what era he is trynna put us in.

You have to have that mature mindset. Substance people SUBSTANCE I love it!!

I aint gonna say my feeling for the cd til I actually listen to it and not just skim thru it.  It's funny ppl still trying to say Kingdom Come was a flop bc of how much it sold.  Whoever is believing that go check the numbers on how many Reasonable Doubt cds have been sold to date and then say something.  Like illseed said if u aint ready to eat steak put the knife and fork down and step away from the table.  They got music u can comprehend at the kiddie table.  Hip Hop is based on lyrcisim and truth not bounce and snapping.  Dont try to judge the creativity or art by how many ppl actually buy it or understand it bc if that was so his worst cd would be Reasonable Doubt.  When referring to true hip hop artists numbers aren't a reflection on how good the music is but more the lack of intelligence of a ppl who rather listen to bullshit.  

Another thing ppl need to stop criticizing Jay for calling himself God.  What u fail to understand is that he refers to himself as God MC bc he's trying to say no one is higher than him.  He aint calling himself God.  If u gonna crucify 1 do it to all not just the ones u dont like.  What about Pac with Makaveli where he reenacts the crucification of Christ...I don't hear nobody saying that...or The Wu calling eachother God which is based on the beliefs of the 5 Percent Nation. All I'm saying is do ur research.

Look if you but the raw steak in a blender with some water and make it into a puree and then cook it then you can feed it to a baby. That's how you make your baby hard.

Second...

I actually think this sounds better than KC, and KC wasn't as bad as everyone is tryin' to make it.  It's just that too many people are into this bubble gum rap, and not hip-hop.

Third...

Speaking of legacy, since when is it "cool" to have a "legacy" of peddling drugs and hurtin' your own people?  someone Said Jigga is tarnishing his legacy because he sold drugs like 40 years ago, and since he don't do that now, he just needs to chill out.  It's about MORE than just peddling drugs you small-minded people.  In this case, it's about making music that defined an "era" or time in his life.  Respect the art you lame azz non-lyric listening homos.

I am not sure about this Album...but to be honest I am from the Atlanta and I am tired of the Snap shit but that's what  we like so let it be. Please do not get my words twisted the hardest artists to ever step out the ATL is Big Boi and Andre 3000 aka Outkast ( no group or Duo can ever top that. Hip-Hop started in Bronx, I am not mad at that I actully appreciated  it, But I do know that everyone always talking shit about Lil Wayne but we only heard a little snippet of the track that Jay -Z has with  Weezy and  ya"ll saying that it wack..niggas it just mad that artist are doing what the fuck they want to do and not just making music to please the labels.  To be honest NYC real hiphop artist are not even signed yet! The hustlers and the grind hard or go home artists are underground. If niggas really want NYC back......they need to grind better, spit better bring something different to the table....
