KRS-One On Jay-Z & 50 Cent: “That Would Be The Greatest Battle In Hip-Hop History”

By Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur

“The two people that should be battling are Jay-Z and 50 Cent…I think it would be great for Hip-Hop.”

-KRS-One

You love to hear the story again and again about how KRS-One burst on the scene in the 80’s after being initially scorched by the Juice Crew’s leaders the late Mr. Magic and DJ Marley Marl. After that, he set it off on the crew with Boogie Down Productions in what would be one of the most storied battled ever.

But fast forward to the present day. 50 Cent has been calling out Jay-Z in a number of songs and interviews in an attempted to lure his fellow Hip-Hop mogul into a lyrical championship bout.

On Beanie Sigel’s “I Go Off,” 50 Cent says, “Yeah, you changed, man. You let the money change you, Jay. You used to be from Marcy, [Brooklyn] n***a. Now you a pass the Grey Poupon a** n***a. You don't want the shooter? I'll take him. [laughs] N*gga, feed the wolves or else the wolves feed off you. Eat your a** alive! I live by a combat's creed. Strategy. Your move, n***a."

Jay-Z has yet to respond, but AllHipHop.com had to solicit the opinion of KRS-One, a man whose insights seem to know no bounds. So, the Blast Master comments on the beef, but also how it should go down, should Jay-Z and 50 lock in. Furthermore, KRS theorizes how it all could make dollars and sense for the two moguls.

TO BE REAL.......GAME VS JAY WOULD EVEN BE A BETTER BATTLE THAN 50 VS JAY..........KRS-1 IS TRIPPING......FOR REAL

I agree with everything Sharp Shooter said. I think Nas vs Jay was one of the best, if not the best lyrical battle in hip hop history. It wasn't like Pac and Biggie, that was 1 sided, mostly Pac was attacking Big, and Big wasn't really saying anything back, directly anyway, Biggie threw a couple subliminal's toward Pac, but that's it. In my opinion, 50 ain't on Jay level lyrically. KRS-1 use to make valid points, but lately he been saying alot of stuff that i disagree with.

Wut up, it's not always about whp's more lyrical.  Biggie and Jay were both more lyrical than Pac and he woulda murdered them fools.  In a battle, most people don't care how slick you say something, they are more concerned with WHAT you say.  Take Ether for example:  that wasn't a "lyrical" diss.  People felt Nas won because of WHAT he said.  Same with Take Over, not lyrical.  Hit'em Up killed all them fools but it wasn't really that lyrical.  I think 50 would Murk Jay.

Agree with previous statements.  Jay VS. Nas was my all time favorite.  I don't think 50 would be able to get at Jay like Jay could get at him.    Would it be good for Hip Hop?  Not sure.   Don't really see what it would do for the culture.  If anything, it would be good for Jay / 50 because they would profit from it.  Who else does it help though?

I think Jay would get 50 in a battle, that's just my opinion, Jay already said the only MC's he consider competition is Eminem and Nas, so you probably won't see this battle happen anyway, unless Jay just want to make some extra money, Jay feel like he is beyond this, at this stage in his career, I can't say that i blame him though.

Chillin at work homie, another day another dollar.
Jay don't want his legacy damaged anymore.  He will always have that Loss to Nas under his belt and he doesn't want anymore.  It's funny how he says the only people that are competition to him are the people he cool with.  I think thats why he hurried up and signed Nas.  He didn't want another Ether.  Pac was a lyrical dude, just not as lyrical as Biggie.  Pac is still the GOAT though.  But Hit'em up wasn't one of those lyrical sublimnal disses.  He just took it to all them n***as straight up.  But yeah, Jay trying to preserve his legacy.

This is the same thing I say about Pac when it came to the beef.  He was a deep rapper but when it was a battle he was just straight up with it.  Nothing subliminal.  He wanted you to know what he said and why he said it.  I respect that more than the rappers that leave you guessing and wondering.

Don't get me wrong, i would like to see them battle as a fan of hip hop. I think they should of battled around 6 years ago, when 50 came on the scene, then it would of been better. 50 was alot hungrier than he is now, so i think he would stand a better chance, Jay been getting money, so he ain't hungry either. I don't think it will happen, 50 is trying to bait Jay though, Jay sent a few subliminal's at 50 too. On the Black Album i remember on that song "What more can i Say" Jay said: No i ain't been shot up a whole bunch of times/ Or makeup a whole bunch of s**tin my rhymes. He was taking a shot at 50 with that line.

But going at it on wax is not Jay's lane, thats 50's lane and Jay been aware of that since"Be A Gentleman" KRS ONE hit the nail on the head, at the least it should go down for NY. In NY hip hop getting it on, on wax has always been a part of the Culture. They are the Kings Of NY so its only right. Lyrical goes out the window in a battle, you got to be more than lyrical in a battle. Its all about how you get on a n***a.

I don't think 50 is the King of New York personally, I don't think Jay is either. In my opinion, Nas is the king of New York, just by his longevity and the classic songs and albums he put out. He already beat Jay in a battle lyrically, so i don't see how Jay can be the king of NY, with a lost under his belt. You might feel differently, but that's how i feel. Even 50 said Jay lost to Nas, but it would be good to see.

With the Jay vs Nas beef I didn't care how slick dudes were with their wordplay.  I just wanted to know what type of information dudes were going to throw at each other.  Basically, I wanna hear why 1 dude thinks he's better than the other.  Period.

With that said, both of these guys can go back and forth with some serious shit.  They both filthy rich so that goes out the window, they both sold crazy albums, both are good businessmen both came up from hustling.  It would be interesting to see how they would go at each other.

i totally agree... every thing 50 said on his disses are wack as hell... i really dont get it with this dude

Im guessing it's the sheer shock factor and some of the things he has the galls to say that has people wrapped around him. This dude actually dissed Oprah, when he's FAR MORE corporate than she is. She is the ultimate hustler...

... and it's gimmicks like that that muddy up rap period...

that deludes the quality of music..

i admit... i was shocked when he went at Jada, Joe..when he dropped Game... and these things made me buy his album so i could see exactly what he had to say...

which is not a damn thing

and now his fame is waning and his hip hop credibility is going down everywhere outside of New York... he's going for the biggest shock factor at all

good luck...but i suspect "thinking" individuals are on to the gimmicks

stupid dude needs to grow up

Once Jay dropped that line, who was checkin for 50 Cent? You? Me? Hell-to-the-no! That dude fell off the face of the earth and it wasn't until around 2001-02, after gettin shot the f**k up, that he returned to the scene. "Damn we shoulda just went ahead and got the abortion."  They are tired of seeing you on their couch every morning when they go to work.  They hate seeing you on the couch when they get home.  You know why your little brother avoids you in public??  He's embarrassed.  Look man, I'm trying to help you:  Kill yourself.  Use your belt, go to the bathroom, and use the curtain rod to just hang yourself.  Or better yet, go to your dads drawer, take his gun, put it to your temple and squeeze.  Make sure the safety is off so you can at least do something right for the first time.  Look my man, this is easy.  Even YOU can't f**k this up.  Just do it.

Ya'll forget that Jay already busted 50's head open. Everything that 50 has been doin is tryna get back at Jay for almost endin his career when In My Lifetime, Vol. 3 came out. Once Jay dropped that line, who was checkin for 50 Cent? You? Me? Hell-to-the-no! That dude fell off the face of the earth and it wasn't until around 2001-02, after gettin shot the f**k up, that he returned to the scene. That's why you always hear Jay name in 50's mouth: cuz that n***a's still bitter from the previous detriment Jay paid to his career.

*****************************************************

Actually you are contributing to the point I made.  Jay-Z was all too willing to diss 50 cent when he wasn't relevant, but now that 50 is a major player in the game. Jay-Z don't want none of that beef.

Jay-Z tried to crush 50 before and 50 rose from the ashes.  Now he want's revenge and Jay-Z trying to duck and dodge.

Like I said, if Jay-Z had beenr etired and 50 talked all this shit, I would give him a pass, but Jay still in the game talking shit.  Don't tell me this is how Brooklyn n***as do it LOLOL.

Jay don't see 50 as being a worthy opponent. Like i said previous, Jay don't see no one as competition, except Eminem and Escobar ,  he just see these other guys as small fries. Wayne probably would get a response, before 50 would from Jay, Wayne is still popular right now, he sell tons of records.

*****************************************************

Come on man, how the hell can Jay-Z not see 50 as a worthy opponent when this n***a is just as popular as he is.  50 is a beast in the game. I'm not saying he is the best and all that shit, but no one can deny his influence in Hip-Hop.  Don't even bring Eminem into this shit.  If Jay couldn't handle Nas he damn sure don't want it with Eminem.

s**tthe best lyrical battle of all time would be Em vs. Nas or Jada. That's some s**tI would pay money to see.

I have to agree with almost everybody on here. This would not be the best battle in Hip Hop to me. Best battle hands down was Jay and Nas. It was straight lyrical back and forth the way a Hip Hop battle should be, and then it was all peace. Nowadays sh*t is like wrestling man. Putting videos and sh*t on the internet with peoples kid and baby mommas, and f*ckin with peoples family and all that. Dead that sh*t already. Its getting old and played out, but i do agree that one line Jay said "i'm about a dollar WTF is 50 cent" was pretty much all Jay had to say. I do have to say that BIG AND PAC coulda had the best battle of all time had it not ended so tragically for these two. Hit'em was probably the worse dis of all time next to no vaseline by Cube, but a lot people don't remember that BIG ripped pac apart on that Long Kiss Goodnight track from Life after...

The reason it wont happen is because Jay think he above the culture. Jay keep talkin that i dont wanna be classed as this. He hates the genrfication of music. He believes that he is above hip hop that he is really a god amongst men type.

Thats why he wont respond Jay is dope but he think that he is above hip hop. I hate that bout him recently. Pay attention to the moves dude makes. youll see wat i mean.

50 is a classic example of a dude that NO ONE wanted to give a shot and Now he say f**k EVERYONE. I mean the same reason that some hate 50 is the reason that we liked him to begin with. Ironic.

Jay should have recived the same critizim that 50 gets about content back then. The prob is there is a Double Standard when it comes to 50. I mean you are allowed not to like him however People like to pick and choose who gets to do the bull ish.

Jay should have recived the same critizim that 50 gets about content back then. The prob is there is a Double Standard when it comes to 50. I mean you are allowed not to like him however People like to pick and choose who gets to do the bull ish.

no actually jay started that talk on bp2 then it really showed on kingdom come....jay been on that....fif making the forbes and talking that ill kill u s**tknowing he aint gonna do shit....to much to lose....thats wack cuz a n***a that is really in the lifestyle that fif talking bout is gonna b like???? n***a u rich.....and fif gets treated how he does cuz he does not know how to talk to ppl....saying f**k u oprah and he also said he was voting for mccain.....these are facts....if he played his role a lil better...maybe there wud not b a double standard huh

Jayz knows that 50 has far too many people (not the majority fooled) with his fakeness

50 was smart from the jump... he rode the prevailing sentiment at the time of GRODT, which was Ja-Rule is talented by far too fake

he took the feelings of so many of us and used it to propel himself into stardom

BUT THEN, this fool srole Ja RUles style and he is not even as talented as JA, musically

thinking folks know 50 is average on his best days...

Jayz would lose many points with me by elevating this fool by responding to him

My take on this is if its gonna be strictly hip hop and none of that WWE, you tube ish its gonna be interesting. We all know how 'beefs' go nowadays- its a lot of youtubing, twittering and all other ish that aint got a thing to do with hip hop. Like the camron/jim jones and jay 'beef'..that was mostly them dipset guys just clowning..camel this, camel that. flip flop this, flip flop that. Hows that hip hop? Jay-z rounded them all up and finished that whole coonery with dig a hole off kingdom come.

One thing i'm sure of is that jay is gonna have some slick line or two to say, maybe not a full track but he always finds a way to address his foes with a slick line or two.

And really think about it- its not as if jay is above hip hop but no one in hip hop has really been at the position he occupies now. He has the chance to take hip hop to unchattered territories- meeting with the president, world series..you know, unfamiliar territory. so when people say 'well in the past, hip hop was built on battling and so' you gotta realize, its changing and it has the chance to grow into something bigger than it is now. That might be a good or bad thing...still up for debate. But my point is jigga has a choice to make- progress with this rap ish or entertain 50s antics and prove his lyrical prowress.
Also, jay is nearly 40, married, got businesses so i'm sure the last thing on his mind is dissing 50.

Then when X-Clan and Ice Cube were dissing him, he ignores them and disses PM DAWN?? And finally when 2Pac and LL were getting at him, what does he do? Goes after Nelly...wow talk about picking lame opponents
----------------------
1st off, KRS went at the whole camp of Juice Crew. Shan and Shante were the only two to step up, everyone else(Craig G, Masta Ace, Biz, Kool G. Rap and Big Daddy Kane) fell back.  Now if you remember the South Bronx track he recorded, he gave a shout out to LL so I don't remember a beef between the two, unless you confused LL calling his name in "Murdergram". They actually worked on tracks together in the past.

I think it was even between NY and Cali, when they was beefing, they both made some good music, and that's all that matter to me. It's some lyrical MC's in NY and Cali, so i would say they even. I know most people will say NY is more lyrical, but the Cali got some Lyrical MC's too.

Dude you cant be serious. How is jay not far ahead of 50. I guess you dont read or watch any tv. Not a diss but cmon man. Im not hear to talk about another n***as accomplishments but you cant be serious. I got one. Lets look at record labels. The ROC vs. GUNIT.
whos sold more albums. We can start from GRODT till now. compare the two n***as and see who has sold more jay or fifth. Lets look at there artist. Lets take two of jays and two of fifths. HAS yayo ever sold a cd and banks is all mixtape. Kanye sells damn near as many as fifth and to be honest probably more and ill take beans or memph as the second artist and theyve sold more than his.  You n***as get on jay cause his goal is to be SUCCESSFUL and by doing that you have to look at you first. I dont knock the n***a for that but if he gives you a shot. YOU  NYG523 would you blow it like beans. BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF? you n***as giving these boys to much credit.

And for you n***as talking reckless about pac being better than big kill ya self. There two different n***as. If they went head up we all know Big would have killed him. What good is there to battle a n***a you had no beef with. AND as for hit em up. HE HAD ONE GOOD BAR the very first one. I love PAC dont get me wrong but real recognize real and he would have taken a L if big would have came back...

Jay-Z has n***as brainwashed: Deep thought provoking lyrical content? PLEASE. Jigga hasnt demonstrated that since "The Black Album"; after that, he's relied on the strength of Bud Light Commercials, ESPN advertising and the youth movement to stay relevant. The Jay-Z of today, that non-responding, smug, khaki-wearing wannabe cracker is NOT the same MC that became a legend in the first place. He just coasts off that reputation while completely pandering to females and the youth in his new music (sorry, but I couldn't spin BP3 without being sick of it after 3 plays). He raps about his money, and n***as drool all over it like hes some mad witty lyrical wordsmith, s**tis ridiculous.  Just like Weezy, if someone is forced down your throat as "the greatest rapper ever" enough times, the weak-minded people will start to believe it...

Get this n***a fif: I'm tired of the Camel thinking he's too big for the culture that made him a multi-millionare in the first place. Any n***a that reps Oprah and Bono from U2 aint "hip hop" in my book. To quote Guru: "That's just something else".

kanye was more involved in Jay Z projects than jay was in Kanye

those single were hot without him. jay saw how hot those songs were and hopped on a remix. it didn't benefit the artist it benefited Jay.

I dont take any thing away from Jay at all Im a fan of both men.

The truth is Kanye made himself a star. He was the total package rhymes beats and image. It was bound to happen. However Yea was Dames disicion as was beans and dip set.

Jays descions @ the Roc was Bleek, Christian, Amil.  Dame was the vision in that label Jay was the top artist. Now as for the 50 thing. 50 makes all his decisions.  And yea he didnt bread a star as big as yea. But i tell you this had him and game never went at odds. Game would have sold alot more. Game might have been a bigger house hold name too. Thats a whole nother story.

I give Dame alot of credit that Jay gets cuz Dame is the reason for all of it. the Brand and even the label name was all Dame.

Dame's idea was the clothes also.

Jay idea was Armadale.

And Jay has a catalog of classic albums, whereas 50 has just one and he used dre and em as his crutch that entire album. people say jay bites biggie's lyrics and s**the does that on purpose to pay tribute to the homie.

ross didn't need jay to do the hustlin remix.
ri ri didn't need jay on umbrella
jeezy didn't need jay on go crazy.
kanye was more involved in Jay Z projects than jay was in Kanye

those single were hot without him. jay saw how hot those songs were and hopped on a remix. it didn't benefit the artist it benefited Jay.

u wouldn't kno game yayo or banks if it weren't for 50.
Mobb Deep Mase MOP weren't exactly on anybodys radar when 50 signed them.

All the people 50 signed were either unknown or irrelevant in the game

50 is done as a rapper. Put a fork in him. Jay knows these niccas hungry to take his shine but east coast rap is becoming more and more regional every month. 50 need to get back to making hit songs instead of instigating or participating in beef. In my opinion if you can't out slick a phony miami drug dealer in a war of words how are you going to take down a lyrical giant like Jay? Is 50 going to take beans shopping for a fur? Jay has no kids to exploit...yet. So I'm curious to what type of ammo he has for someone who has seen little scrutiny as a gangster rapper. Jay knows he won already by not saying anything. Im a fan of neither but KRS must have fallin down and bumped his head or something to think 50 and Jay would be the best battle ever. We already had the best battle ever and in my opinion Nas won.

This is mad obvious. If anyone knows what hip-hop should be its KRS-One and he knows 50 can't rhyme his way out of a wet paper bag. True talent opposed to image. No MC is smartest as Kris. This is strategy. He knows Jay will murk 50's busta ass lyrically and end 50’s career which in turn will be good for hip-hop. KRS-One understands 50 has been eatin' off an image since he came into the game not skill.

KRS-One recognizes Jay's skill and he knows coupled with Jay's commercial appeal, he is the best candidate to put Curtis' wack azz to bed…for good. Go fight in the WWE, Steroid Stan.

In the words the GZA, "A Great swordsmen recognizes any great swordmen". Lyrically, 50 is carrying a butter knife.

Interscope distribute Shady and Aftermath Records, it use to distribute G-Unit, but they just got dropped by Interscope. It's pretty easy to get Distribution though, they can go thru a small Distribution Company, they don't need no morer than 1 million printed up, they might not need that, due to how CD's is selling now. If Digital Sales keep up the way they is, The artist won't need Distribution, they can just sell their music online, you just burn the tracks to your CD, like you do on Itunes.

I hate to break it to you guys but battling at this level is more then lyrics...this isn't a cypher or street battle...50 is a harder hitter, it's like boxing, Jay if Finesse...it's Mayweather vs Pacquaio...yeah J can speak out the side of his mouth and say clever slick shit, but Fif is the type of dude to go at you and speak the language people dont have to get...

Jay cant battle Fif because what is Jay going to say? He's a shooter? Brooklyn this Brooklyn that? his s**tisn't as beleivable anymore, you cant battle Fif about some gun clapping cause this image he has is there's none realler in the game...

I think people sleep on 5th man...he's got a hard delivery...he's got descent rhymes...he might not be slick and sideways with his lyrics but he does his work and can pull n***as cards...the biggest thing about a battle that I think gives Fif an advantage is he has no woman....everyone knows no battle at this level goes down without some hurtful s**tbeing said about someone's woman...as soon as Fif gets on Beyonce, it's over...plus Jay has more to lose because Fif can try to hurt Beyonce's image and reputation...

I do not see Jay allowing himself getting sucked into this...oddly, playing the bigger man may cause him to have to retire from rapping cause it just wont look right putting out an album unless it's all pop after ducking Fif...it also will not make sense to feature on people's records using that as a medium to spit insults...it's either you go or shut up.

Jay will and should play the high road and retire for good...he retired back when Fif was coming into the game to avoid a clash and I can see him doing it again.

Rocawear clothes are considered to be for homeboys and chicks
But if you wear G-Unit you'll get much attention and respect

I meant to say G-Unit clothing are more valued than Rocawear
It's not that you'll get respect simply for wearing G-Unit clothing
but Rocawear is really out of fashion here

word to god, 50 aint ready for jay. If you ask me the only thing credible that 50 did was beat ja rule and come on people ja wasn't really a worthy opponent and that beef didn't really get bad till busta and Em jumped in. Jadakiss killed the n***a, the game shitted on the whole g unit fam, fat joe still kicking (50 hurt the dude), and Rick ross had a better diss record( mafia music) which killed i'll be the shooter, jay lost to nas( ether was crazy), when pac dissed him it was 2 words and at the timepac was the biggest n***a in the game so that would have been stupid as shit. Even if jay went in on pac that would have been a lose. and cam'ron come on god really cam'ron is horrible grape kool-aid and chicken rappin a** N***a. jay would MURDER 50 if something actually happened this would be stupid both dudes are Dirty rich and jay the only one who act like he has common sense. 50 need to grow up and stop being stupid and get out of this kid beef stuff, it was cool when he was hungry but now the homie worth 440 million so what's the point.

First of all 50 doesn't want it with Jay lyrically!
2nd- Jay is on some grown up sh*t!!
3rd- any 30 year old man(50) that still has to talk about murdering somebody in his rhymes is dumb to me!
Jay is damn near a billionaire, and he talks like one! 50 cent is also worth 4-5 hundred million but he talks like he's still standing in front of the corner store with a gun in his waist. I dont understand what people see in 50! If he's this great artist then how come he lost to Kanye when they released on the same day! Kanye destroyed that chump!

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT!!! 50 NEEDS TO GO AFTER SOMEBODY THAT TALKS TRASH JUST LIKE HIM!!! TELL HIM TO TALK THAT SH*T TO WAYNE!!!!         50 CENT vs. LIL' WAYNE!!!!
I BET LIL' WAYNE WILL END 50'S CAREER... YOU WANT HIM TO BATTLE JAY?!?!? C'MON!!!

what does being a millionaire have to do with MCing?

u MC becuz u are a hiphop artist..

"o, i have a billion in the bank, im above these nikkas now"

nikka, thats sum sucka ass shet right there

thats why i dont buy or support thios fraud ass nikka..i dont care if u got a zillion dollars in the bank..pick up that microphone and get to rapping..

becuz right now theres sum nikka working at mcDonalds who will rip jay  z ass to shreds..

and any real nikka listening will agree..only a nikka who worships celebrities will be like

"hes got billion dollars..he doesnt have to respond

lets put it this way..

99 per cent of the true hiphop heads dont have a million, or a billion in the bank..and we still love a great artist despite what he has in his bank account

so, if u got a billion in the bank..and your sooo above the culture

i cant relate to u anymore..

the spirit of hiphop is not in you..u talking about being frank sinatra..

what nikka in his right mind aspires frank sinatra?

i dont know one nikka who looks up to frank sinatra...

jay z is not HIPHOP..that lil white girl spoke the gospel calling jay z a "pop artist"

becuz, real talk, thats what jay is..its not a diss..its a fact

jay z does not belong wid the catergory of Mos Def..or Rakim or Talib, joe buddens..or any of them nikkas

he belongs wid the jonas brothers and donald rumsfield..he belongs with d**k cheney

its not a diss..its just the facts..

any nikka that admires jay z becuz hes a billionaire ..flat out worships white people...

if hiphop was a school..

and all the top Mcs were a clique..and jay z all of a sudden stopped hanging out at the black table..and started kicking it with the head cheerleader and the star quarterback..and the budweiser beer keg standing white cats..

u cant say jay belongs at the black table anymore,..

he dont associate at the table where the nikkas crack jokes..and talk about nikka shet..

no, hes talking about becky and white boy shet now..

so if a nikka says he admires that..what is the nikka really saying but..

"i wish i didn t have to hang out wid the nikkas talking about nikka shet..

i wish i could hang out wid the white people at they table and talk about white boy shet..damn..jay z has officially made it..he s hanging wid the white boys now..hes successful and popular"

yeah, nikka...u worship white ppl

flat out

As far as battles go, it is a lyrical bout but wit is a big element. I see 50 as someone who knows well how to dig up dirt and come with potent disses that will have the masses wanting to hear more. B u all tell me to f-off cause u think 50 has no lyrical skill, i understand u. What u have to understand though is a battle is like playing "the dozens". You don't have to necessarily be "sart" but a smart-ass. Not sure if there is a greater smart ass than 50. Jay is lyrical and from what he did to prodigy, if he could do that to 50, we'd all be salivating for more. Can u imagine 50 dropping s**tabout Jay like he did with Wu? Kris is right. This has the potential to be the bigest battle ever, not becaus these guys r top emcees, but because of their influence worldwide. What they could do with this battle. How many times have wwe seen a dude on the block get served by some young kids being disrespectful and the older cats start laughing at the older guy for getting served, so instead of sending the kid home, he tries to at it with him. Just for the possible impact it could have on either man's career makes this a mach-up worth watching.

Dumb Judah..you sound Stupid!!!

All Im saying is that when you become successful, its nearly impossible to hang out on the corner....where you used to hang out.
Im just the opposite as you claim, I dont worship white people.
As a successful business owner I do understand thatwhen you get a little money....things change....you move to a community with better schools for your kids, a better home, nice cars....and overall as a result, your mentality changes. You hang out with successful people, like minded individuals! So, in contrast to this lifestyle on a personal note, Jay would be intellectually in a different place, thats all im saying. Why is 50 still talking like he is a gangster.... like he shoots n*ggaz!  He lives in a 20 million dollar home, drives Bentley to get his mail, if you believes he's a gangster....I guess you're brainwashed as well. lol!

But i can read between the lines homeboy. All you respect is, as you say, "being at the table with "n*ggas". lol! or saying "real n*gga Sh*t"!! I guess thats your mentality homie. You stick with that, you hear me! lol!

Noting the condition we're in as black people, we need to look beyond "n*gga shit" and see to change our communities. So I applaud cats like  Mos Def, Common, and Talib.... people who offer an alternative way of thinking, positive, when its so easy to sit at a table where the "real n***as sit' lol! Truthfully speaking, when you have Jay and 50 money...you should be making music to enhance that quality of our (black) communities and not tearing them down.

So, as i finalize yo dumb ass! Do I worship white people cause I admire Oprah (billionaire), Tyler Perry (multi-millionaire), Creflo Dollar (millionaire) because they offer change to our communities?
Or should I care about sitting next to your retarded ass at the "n***a table"!

Now that i got that off my chest, VincethePrince, I can agree with you. 50 is very tactful! I find it interesting that he would go and sign Beanie.... i think the only reason why he did it is to get "behind the scenes" information on Jay. I'm sure Beanie has something to tell, i mean, nobody's perfect in their personal/business practices. lol! It'll be a good battle, but I personally wanna see Lil' Wayne vs. 50. They both put out a ton of mixtapes and they both come hard in their respective ways. But when you add Jay in there...Jay doesnt realease music on a constant basis like Wayne and 50. Jay will give 50 one song... maybe 2...and thats it. While 50 will release mixtape after mixtape until we're smothered in 50 diss songs..... who can rival that? Lil' Wayne!!!!
Who's at the top of their game right now? Lil' Wayne.
50 attacked Ja Rule and Rick Ross when they were at their peaks! Now he's attacking Jay while Jay is "damn near" retired? It'll still be a good one though, I agree.  But Wayne will put out jut as many mixtapes as 50 and we'll be scrambling to the cd store/internet every 5 minutes! lol!

I agree 50 is no general but his methods are effective when it comes to beef. I would'nt be surprised if he's asking Jay Z's ex girl about how he "really is". I mean, even Jay did it when he researched the picture of Prodigy.

KRS One cannot think a battle between the greatest rapper, Jay-Z and so-so rapper 50 will be the biggest in hip hop history. I think it would be a step down for Jay. The greatest to me was Nas and Jay. It actually brought Nas back to people minds, so it was a win win battle.

Nonsense. If this were to go down it would be one of the the most boring and one-sided battles in hip hop history with Jay winning by a landslide. Sing songy rhymes wont be enough for 50 to earn a victory because he just can't hang in a bar for bar, metaphor for metaphor, lyric for lyric battle with a real MC. If the criteria is the ability to make a rhythmic hook on the spot then yeah 50 might win but Curtis is out of his league on this one.

It's funny to see his lyrics talking about how the money changed Jay like anyone is expected to believe 50's success and money hasn't changed him, that's laughable. Just like Jay is no longer in Marcy 50 is no longer on the Southside of Queens so knock it off with this pseudo-thug-I'm-more-connected-to-my-roots-than-you-are garbage. You live in Farmington, CT Curtis, you're fooling no one. Tough talk is just that tough talk.

50 much like many other people in the music business are simply selling an image. He has stated in many interviews that he doesn't drink alcohol yet in his lyrics he consistently attempts to present the image that he drinks (i.e. In Da Club). He's a convicted felon which prevents him from possessing any firearms yet his lyrics are flooded with reference to guns he claims to bust so one must believe that he's continuing to promote a fraudulent image or he can't come up with any metaphors other than gun references which would speak to his lyrical deficiency. Dude is a savvy businessman, a good songwriter and can come up with some very catchy hooks but none of that makes him a solid MC.

No contest. Jay murders him hands down. 50's done. He's a walking gimic / publicity stunt machine. I doubt Jay has ever opened with 150k especially with all the marketing and hype thrown at 50. You can't read a single day worth of mtv news or all hip hop without this guys name all over the place and it still doesn't get him more sales. Now I'm not one to say that sales is everything but Curtis does. He's forver attacking other artists for weak numbers and look at him now. Ross did twice as many units as fiddy his first week.  Ofcoarse 50 does pick his targets carefully. Back when J-Prince, Scarface, ZRo & Bun B murdered him on the song "Snitch Niga" he was quiet as a f'n church mouse after that. Back when Hussein Fatal ripped him in a couple of songs "..Pac would've never done a song with no wanksta snitch..." he was quiet as hell too. He's got that eminem syndrome where you're real careful about who you go at. Problem is Em is even worse. He beefs with techno stars and females who sing R&B.  Bottom line....no contest folks.

This would not be an interesting battle and nothing close to the best. Finally, Pac was a better lyricist than any of these guys. I don't anybody trying to define lyricism for me just like I don't need anybody trying to define Hip Hop for me. You can't be a lyricist without the content.

At one point KRS One was the most sampled rapper, but that was before the Corporate formula came out.

Which goes if something is popular keep using it, over and over again.

if you break down Biggie's content you'll see its not very different from 50 Cent, which explains why 50 Cent has been so successful in this Corporate incarnation of Rap Music.

I'm not hating I own 50, I Own Biggie, I'm not just confused as to where they belong in the scope of Hip Hop History.

Question, is Biggie better than Kool G Rap, is 50 Cent better than Ice Cube???

Is Jay-Z better than Melle Mel, is Beans better than Kool Moe Dee?

Like I said Biggie wouldn't make my top 10

not all Africans live in poverty, i know you watch too many documentaries about Sudan and Somalia, i aint from there
i'm from Southern Africa, but i'm not surprised, you're not the
first one to say Africans are starving

No offense taken...I connect with my African roots. My wife is actually from Nigeria, in western Africa, a true Nubian Princess. We  travel to Africa every year, we were in South Africa (Pretoria) last year and plan on going back for the world cup next year. So if your statement was meant as some sort of diss, sorry you mssed me son.

Thanks for the info but I don't think I'll get on a 24 hour flight to Africa to go chill with 'hollywood stars'....I could go to LA to for that. I go to Africa to get a real feel of the place, hanging out at a tourist resort kinda defeats the whole purpose now, don't it? Plus, most tourists get jumped because they get there and all of a sudden wanna be superstars and floss they 'wealth' after they convert their dollars to the local currency. I stay humble, my man.

yall are a bunch of dummies / idiots.  When krs says greatest battle in history he's not talking about  the rappers skill levels. He's talking about their status and power in the game. No battle has ever had to guys that were this BIG going at each other.

Jay is the man no question  but when u think about it .....how many battles has he won?  or been in for that matter...he was in it with Nas of course nas won.  then the Jim Jones thing where jim kinda clowned him alil.  yea jay got him lyrically but jims song was clever how he flipped it on jay and made his own remix.  other than that jay jus dont really answer the beef that much.  he addressed wayne on the low but he dont really come hard when it comes to dissin.  but y?  does he think he is too good?  or is he afraid of another either???
