T.I. Still Eligible To Vote In Historic Election

After spending months encouraging potential young voters to become active in the electoral process, multi-platinum artist T.I. carried out his civic duty today, joining the thousands who have voted early in his home state of Georgia.

Believing that he would be unable to participate in this year's historical election, the 27-year-old budding actor made it his objective to motivate others to get involved.

Over the summer, T.I. became the national spokesperson for Respect My Vote!, a non-partisan Get Out The Vote initiative launched earlier this year by Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr. and the Hip Hop Caucus.

It was not until recently that T.I. learned, through research of his own, that he was still eligible to vote, despite his previous run-ins with the law.

"Feels like I've taken advantage of my right to become a part of the democracy," declared the rapper Clifford Harris of the life-changing experience. "It was definitely worth standing in line and doing all the things people complain about voting. I think it's more than worth it."

"T.I. is an inspiration to us all, showing that you can overcome anything," reflected Reverend Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus. "He has become our Harry Belafonte of the 21st Century."

Expecting a record-breaking voter turnout this year, officials have urged those individuals who can, to vote before Election Day, which is of course, Tuesday, November. 4.

Their efforts have resulted in millions across the country standing in line for as long as five hours to vote.

The Hip Hop Caucus has joined forces with the Hip Hop Summit Action Network and AllHipHop.com to continue to inspire young voters with a national Respect My Vote! GOTV Bus Tour.

The tour will visit 18 cities through Election Day.

"The significance of T.I.'s leadership should not be underestimated," emphasized Dr. Benjamin Chavis, President/CEO of HSAN.

"T.I. has emerged as an effective national leader, inspiring millions of young people to vote in the 2008 elections. "

T.I. has remained in the spotlight over the last few weeks, thanks to the success of his latest album Paper Trail.

In addition to being the rappers fifth consecutive #1 debut, he historically held the #1 and #2 position on Billboard's Hot 100 this week with his singles "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" featuring Rihanna.

"Whatever You Like" also made headlines this week when a group of Georgia students remade the song, reminding adults that they can "Vote However They Like."

The video for "Live Your Life" debuted on BET's 106 & Park on Tuesday (October 28).

Spend millions on a felony charge and not one lawyer thought to tell you that you could vote. Let's know what kind of people he has around him.

Besides, when is it cause to celebrate when a fking repeat offender goes out and votes? This negro needs to keep himself out of trouble THEN worry about participating in democracy...fking criminal.

I was disappointed to learn that I can vote even though I'm a felon. It was always a great excuse to not do my civic duty. At least I still don't have to do jury duty and I can never be drafted.

HOT97,

That "stop snitching" bullshit is why we haven't found Pac or Big's killers.  If your family got killed, you'd want the killer brought to justice, right?

Or are you more like that fool Cam'ron, who wouldn't even warn about a serial killer?

Oh, and by the way, if I had to choose between a ticket with the "old guy and the stripper" and the ticket with the two baby-killers, I'd take an "old guy and the stripper".

If you'd all listened to me and voted for McCain, you'd have a proven leader with answers!  But no, you had to choose the man with all the hype who's full of hot air!

January 20, 2009, the joke's on you!  Once all hell breaks loose in Iraq thanks to our withdrawal, taxes are raised, gays marry, the unborn are killed in their wombs, and murder rates go up, you'll be saying "What were we thinking?"  My response will always be "Don't blame me; I voted for McCain"!

McCain's policies are exactly like Bush's policies. Obama is not the slick speaker it's McCain. Pay attention.

Your an idiot for voting for McCain and your reasoning is completely moronic. Have you ever read a book b4?

Cycl-1777,

What's your belief on the sanctity of human life?  Do you believe in its value from CONCEPTION IN THE MOTHER'S WOMB until NATURAL DEATH like I do?

If so, then I'll have you know the following:

1. Obama repeatedly killed legislation so that babies born alive after abortion would die.

2. He says his own grandchildren would be "punishment" for his daughters.

3. Barack wants to legalize Partial Birth Abortion again! (you know, the procedure where the baby's skull is split open and its brains are sucked out that Congress voted to ban, Bush signed its ban into law, and Bush's Supreme Court upheld that ban?)

4. Obama's Democratic party says it no longer wants abortion to be rare. (So he DOES want your babies killed!  That's genocide)

5. Barack wants all abortions to be free, paid for by your taxes. (So even us who value human life will have to pay for its mass slaughter!)

6. Obama wants to ban states from informing women about abortions, providing waiting periods, or requiring medical oversight. (So basically, he wants to pull out the safety plugs.  Women have been KILLED along with their babies like this)

7. Barack promises to appoint only pro-abortion justices to the Supreme Court of the United States. (Whereas neither Bush nor McCain are this exclusive, and support judges because of their ability to interpret the Constitution, not legislate from the bench)

8. Obama wants to stop parents from knowing if their young girls are taken for abortion by other adults. (If your grandchild was killed, you'd want to know who did it, right?)

So, because I'm pro-life (and being Catholic, voting for a pro-abort will get me excommunicated from the Chuch), I cannot vote for Obama.

I appreciate your understanding.
