“I’ve done a lot of films that all have been pretty edgy,” says Ja. “I played thug characters, but with this character, even though I play a thug somewhat, he’s really a guy going through a transition.”

The movie is directed by Steve Race (Kings and Queens of Freestyle Volume 1) and based on the life of screenwriter Galley Molina. The picture’s cast also features Michael Madsen (The Mob Doctor), Stephen Baldwin (The Usual Suspects), Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), T-bone (The Fighting Temptations), and Toby “TobyMac” McKeehan.

This will be Ja Rule’s first acting role since 2011’s The Cookout 2. His previous acting stints include turns in the original Cookout, The Fast and the Furious, Assault On Precinct 13, and Scary Movie 3.
