The Brooklyn born mogul will live stream a special announcement today. It is still unclear exactly what Jay will be addressing at the event, but he did send out a rare tweet that read, “The Tides They Are-A Changing #TIDALforALL.” Roc Nation also released a brief statement:
Shawn “JAY Z” Carter will announce a commitment to a new direction for the music industry from both a creative and business perspective.
Several other high-profile entertainers joined Jay in tweeting “#TIDALforALL.” Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and Usher were among the artists to post the hashtag. Jay’s wife, Beyoncé, also changed her profile picture to the light blue avi being used by the other performers.
A few weeks ago, Jay reportedly met with some of the biggest names in music about the Tidal service. Besides Beyoncé, West, Rihanna, and Minaj, other celebrities said to be at that meeting include Madonna, Daft Punk, Chris Martin of Coldplay, and Jack White.
The time that Jay Z’s live stream will begin broadcasting has not been announced yet. AllHipHop.com will provide an update when more information becomes available – See update below.
