(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar is set to headline the 2015 edition of the Hot 97 Summer Jam concert. The TDE rapper stopped by the New York City radio station for the announcement.
The interview also included K. Dot responding to the backlash over comments he made in a Billboard interview where he said, “What happened to [Michael Brown] should’ve never happened. Never. But when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us?”

That statement was criticized by some African-Americans, including Azealia Banks, claiming Kendrick was being blind to systemic racism. Some even accused the To Pimp A Butterfly creator of being apologetic for racism.
In response to his critics on that matter, Lamar told Hot 97, “I forgive them. Obviously, they don’t understand where I come from. They don’t understand what I’ve been through. They don’t understand what I’ve done to my community that tore it down. For them to take my words out of context – yeah, I forgive them.”
Kendrick also recently spoke with Power 106 in Los Angeles. He was asked about the rumors that the secretive producer LoveDragon on the To Pimp A Butterfly tracks “How Much a Dollar Cost” and “You Ain’t Gotta Lie (Momma Said)” is really his mentor Dr. Dre.
“LoveDragon, it’s a talented producer… No, [it’s not Dr. Dre.],” stated Lamar. “They want to remain anonymous… They don’t care about the accolades. They just want to do the music.”
The Compton native did deny he was LoveDragon, but he would not confirm if the unseen producer is actually a well-known person.
