Tesla Motors CEO and PayPal co-founder Elon Musk was tapped to contribute an article about West for the publication. Musk wrote in part:
Kanye does think. Constantly. About everything. And he wants everybody else to do the same: to engage, question, push boundaries. Now that he’s a pop-culture juggernaut, he has the platform to achieve just that. He’s not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. Kanye’s been playing the long game all along, and we’re only just beginning to see why.
Time also conducted a video interview with Kanye. The “All Day” performer spoke about his impact on society and what he wants to leave the world.
“Every time I say something extremely truthful it literally breaks the Internet. So what are we getting all of the rest of the time?” Ye stated.
He continued, “I don’t care about having a legacy. I don’t care about being remembered. The most important thing to me is while I’m here, while we’re having fun, while we’re going to sleep, breathing oxygen, living life, falling in love, having pain and joy – what can I do with my voice? What can we do for each other to make life easier, make life doper for our kids?”
