The White House Responds To Kanye West Announcing He’s Running For President

OBAMA’S PRESS SECRETARY COMMENTS ON YE’S SUPPOSED BID FOR THE PRESIDENCY

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West rocked the entertainment world Sunday night when he told the MTV Video Music Awards audience he was running for President of the United States in 2020. The proclamation has now seeped into the political world as well.

The office of the POTUS has officially addressed Mr. West’s potential candidacy. While traveling on Air Force One with President Barack Obama to Alaska, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said he looks “forward to seeing what slogan [West] chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.”

With Kanye’s track record it’s hard to tell if the 2020 bid is him taking himself way too seriously or just one of his random thoughts he’s known to throw out, but he has at least garnered the attention of the Obama administration.

The two Chicago natives have not always seen eye-to-eye. Obama called Kanye a “jackass” after his infamous stage crashing of Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs.

West responded to Obama in a 2013 interview saying, “ I don’t care if someone’s the President or not. I care about thoughts and how you’re helping people and what you bring to the world. My music brings joy to people. What I create brings joy to people.”

The GOOD Music founder later stated he was not offended by Obama’s comments and the president has his phone number. Obama revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that he only met the rapper/producer twice and doubted he actually had Ye’s home number.
