(AllHipHop News) Taye Diggs has been cast in a recurring role on hit drama “Empire.”
The former “Private Practice” star is joining the Hip-Hop centered series as a “New York councilman with a Harvard law degree and a wealthy family background.”
“Empire” star Taraji P. Henson joked about his casting, telling Entertainment Weekly she is responsible for booking him on the show.
“I requested Taye Diggs you know,” the actress said. “Taye Diggs you owe me a Chanel bag! Okay whoever I get a job for on Empire, you owe me a Chanel bag.”
Taraji, who just landed a second Emmy nomination for her role as Cookie Lyon on the series, gave a few cryptic details on Taye’s character, revealing,
“Well, he’s sexy and he’s a smart politician. That’s all I know right now. And he loves him some cookies. And I hear he has, supposedly a very famous mother but I’m not sure… I’m not gonna start that rumor.”
In addition to Taye, rappers French Montana and Birdman are also slated to make cameos on the upcoming third season of “Empire.”
