Jay Z’s Roc Nation Helps Negotiate $110 Million Contract For Mets Player Yoenis Cespedes

THE ALL-STAR BECOMES THE HIGHEST PAID PLAYER IN TEAM HISTORY

(AllHipHop News) MLB All-Star Yoenis Cespedes just re-signed with New York Mets for $110 Million over 4 years.

Cespedes’ $27.5 million average salary is the highest for any outfielder in baseball, and it makes him the highest paid player in Mets history.

“From the start, I always said I wanted to be with this team and return to this team, and God willing finish my career with this team,” said Cespedes at a news conference.

The two-time Home Run Derby champion is represented by CAA Sports as well as Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports.

Roc Nation also took part in the negotiations that earned Robinson Cano a 10-year/$240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners in 2013.

Cano joining Roc Nation was a central part of the back-and-forth between the second baseman’s former agent Scott Boras and Jay Z.

“Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me,” rapped Jay on the Magna Carta Holy Grail track “Crown.”

Boras fired back by publicly downplaying Jay’s role in the Cano/Mariners deal.
