Once again, Hot 97’s own underground Hip-Hop head Peter Rosenberg had a birthday. And once again, he decided to give the good people on NYC a gift with his 6th annual Peterpalooza concert at The Knockdown Center in Maspeth NY, and as usual, the crowd was lit more than birthday-cake candles.
PG County – by way of London – native Jay IDK got the honor of starting things off and did a great job warming things up for Shady records signees Westside Gunn & Conway, who brought out a few New York notables like Brooklyn’s Skyzoo and Harlem native Smoke DZA.
The Pro Era crew came through via Kirk Knight and Nyck Caution aka Nyck @ Knight to rock the spot with bar after bar until all-star Joey Badass popped up to assist the dynamic duo with a couple of his own hits.
Apparently the word on the party got back to the Windy City, causing Chi Town sharpshooter Vic Mensa to pull up and do a joint before announcing his latest project The Autobiography, which dropped at midnight. And after Vic took his exit the main events hit the stage.
First with Nas protégé and Def Jam’s newest star, Dave East spitting bars from both Hate Me Now and Kairi Chanel much to the crowds satisfaction. No sooner had he left was the crowd did the always striving and prospering ASAP Ferg take the microphone and drop bombs on the crowd with joints Trap Lord and Always Strive and Prosper.
In the end, the crowd walked away, worn out in the best way possible after a night full of thorough Hip-Hop entertainment as Peter Rosenberg once again delivered the gift that keeps on giving.
