Cardi B Snaps Over Decision To Keep “Up” & “WAP” On New Album

Cardi B defended her decision to include “WAP” and “Up” on her new album Am I the Drama?, calling out critics and prioritizing her supporters.

Cardi B fired back at critics Wednesday (June 25) after revealing that her chart-topping singles “WAP” and “Up” will be featured on her long-awaited sophomore album Am I the Drama?, due out September 19, 2025.

The Bronx rapper took to X to shut down backlash over including the two hits, both of which were released years ago.

“This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this. ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ are two of my biggest songs, my fans have been asking me to put them on an album.. they deserve a home,” she wrote.

“WAP,” her 2020 collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke streaming records in its first week. The track spent four weeks at the top and became a cultural lightning rod.

“Up,” released in 2021, also reached No. 1 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance.

Despite their success, Cardi admitted that she had previously held back from submitting “WAP” for Grammy consideration due to outside pressure.

“I let haters make me not submit WAP for the Grammy’s and at this point I’m giving my fans what they want! These two songs don’t even count for first week sales so what are yall even crying about???” she said.

She didn’t stop there. Addressing accusations of using old hits to boost album numbers, Cardi added, “Do ya say anything when all these artist pull out all their little tricks and ponies to sell out??? Exactly….Now let them eat cake. Go cry about it!!!”

The 23-track album Am I the Drama? arrives seven years after her debut, Invasion of Privacy, which won Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys.

The new project features a mix of club anthems, pop-infused records, introspective cuts and surprise guest features. Am I the Drama? will be released on September 19, 2025.
