Dirty Cop Who Testified Against Meek Mill Stole “Chunks” Of Cash

(AllHipHop News) Meek Mill’s attempt to win his freedom is coming closer to becoming a reality, almost daily.

It was recently revealed that the arresting officer who testified against Meek Mill in 2007 for a drug and gun case, lied to the FBI while he was under oath.

According to a new Internal Affairs report, Philadelphia police officer Reginald Graham lied to investigators about his role in a 2005 robbery of a drug dealer, in which he and another dirty cop named Jeffrey Walker stole “chunks of cash” during a raid.

Walker turned informant and accused Graham of participating in the theft, something he denied until he failed a polygraph test and then admitted his role in stealing the cash.

Last November, Williams was sentenced to 2 to 4 years for a probation violation originating from a 2008 gun and drug case.

His lawyers have been fighting to get the 30-year-old released over an array of problems.

The report comes on the heels of the discovery that Reginald V. Graham was on a District Attorney Office’s list of discredited cops and allegedly gave untruthful statements at the rapper’s trial.

Meek’s attorneys have also claimed that Genece Brinkley, the preceding judge, is strongly biased against Meek.

#AHHPowerfulWomen: Cynthia Horner: Urban Media’s Mother Still Inspires

(AllHipHop Features) Once upon a time, in my early years of writing, I was an in-house scribe for Black Beat magazine. I promise this is not about me, but I must set this up properly. I was a new New Yorker by way of Delaware and was unable to get the ear of The Source and XXL. I was tremendously excited to work at Black Beat for two reasons. The first was the publication gave me my first real writing job in New York City and the second was working in the house that Cynthia Horner built.

Cynthia M. Horner-Harris, pka Cynthia Marie Horner is a pillar of the publishing and entertainment industry. I knew this coming up, because she was the editor-in-chief of our favorite magazines as rap and R&B began to mature rapidly in the 80’s. She pumped out 600 issues of magazines that young Black and Brown kids consumed. This included the original Right On! and Word Up! WE all know the line recited by The Notorious B.I.G.:

“It was all a dream / I used to readWord Up! Magazine / Salt-n-Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine.”

-Notorious BIG on 1994’s “Juicy”

A graduate of the Seaver College of Pepperdine University, Mrs. Horner-Harris continues on even though she could rest on her accolades. Seriously, how many journos can say they interviewed the late great King of Pop Michael Jackson, his queen sister Janet Jackson and their siblings The Jacksons? Prince? New Edition? She did that before social media, wide acceptance and shameless self promotion. And she continues to do it. Recently, she has appeared on the Reelz Channel, VH1’s The Black Ink Crew, TV One’s Unsung, and other national programs. She also continues to give back philanthropically, educationally and professionally.

Without further delay, an #AHHPowerfulWoman Cynthia Horner:

AllHipHop: You have an extensive history in music and publishing. What are your views on how both “games” have evolved?

Cynthia Horner: The game has continued to change as entertainment journalism has had some good times and not so good times. At a recent event where I accepted an award at Café Mocha’s Salute Her in NYC, I opened my remarks with a key statement, which I continue to repeat: “Media matters. Black media matters. And with every breath I take, I will continue to fight for our cause and for the foot soldiers who have been on the front lines, making it easier for those who have followed us. Members of the media are diverse and we have our own opinions which are based on our personal experiences. Too often, these opinions are not being respected by the larger community, partially due to lack of understanding and in some cases just the unwillingness to respect opinions that are diametrically opposed to someone else’s.

But I am an optimist and continue to be inspired by those who say that I inspire them. As a result, I embrace the various forums that we have for self expression i.e. the blogs, websites and niche publications that have emerged in the past decade or so. I remember when there was a time when we had a small handful of major newsstand publications that targeted our culture: Ebony, Essence, Jet, Black Enterprise and Right On!. We were the leaders in various genres. Of course, with the changing landscape, we have others, but we still do not have the support of the community to keep many other publications afloat. But we matter, and I intend to make sure that we continue to matter. Solidary is so important. There are many, many journalists and publicists who embrace me, and I feel that it is important that we take care of each other. Too often we are tunnel-versioned and are not cognizant of the world around us and it takes hearing of a death of someone we respected to remind us of our vulnerability. Nothing is promised, therefore we must make our mark every single day.

AllHipHop: What do you think your legacy is thus far and when are we going to get that memoir?

Cynthia Horner: My legacy reminds me of a globe that continues to turn. Every time I sit down to write another chapter, we either lose another important figure to whom I had a personal attachment or I am blessed with additional opportunities to share my knowledge with the world in other mediums. But that memoir is coming. It’s being prepped. I just haven’t decided how and where it will end. It’s an important story, however. I’m constantly reminded by people about my contributions and my place in the industry. It’s important for anyone who has dreams, regardless of their age or ethnicity. I was taught by my parents to dream big, and throughout my career I have helped entertainers make their dreams come true.

AllHipHop: You have interviewed everybody from Michael Jackson, Prince, Janet Jackson and so many more. Can you talk about some of those experiences and what, if you can, was the highlight interview of your career?

Cynthia Horner: Wow, I have had so many highlights that it is even difficult to say what experience ranks number one. I remember once reading that Beyoncé said that she had had many big days. I’ve had them, too, as a journalist. Since Michael Jackson and Prince are deceased, I would suppose that getting to know them on an extremely personal level would rank at the top. I don’t believe that there will ever be another Michael Jackson or Prince, so my time with them was very special. I’m proud that I can say that I had a hand in their success and that they appreciated what was done for them. I was able to have so much direct contact with them and interacted with these entertainers socially.

I was simply devastated over the death of Heavy D, an artist that I just adored as a friend. I’ll never forget the time when we ate at a restaurant and when the other diners recognized him, he graciously took care of all of their checks! – Cynthia Horner

Just imagine me jet setting around with these people who are two of the biggest names that ever lived. That was pretty much unheard of and could never happen today. I never abused their friendships. I am so grateful that I experienced having such an impact on their careers and I miss them. As you know, I have a very unusual speaking voice, but those entertainers always told me that my voice was my calling card. I still can’t believe that they are gone.

Since this interview is for AllHipHop, which has remained at the top of my list of these types of sites, I must confess that there are several hip hop artists that I miss. I was simply devastated over the death of Heavy D, an artist that I just adored as a friend. I’ll never forget the time when we ate at a restaurant and when the other diners recognized him, he graciously took care of all of their checks! And Biggie and Tupac, my God, what tragedies.

AllHipHop: Word on the street is you or your husband has purchased Right On! or Word Up a magazine, which was infamously mentioned by Biggie Smalls.

These magazines are part of my legacy and I will always cherish them. It was always a dream that I would own these magazines. I have a lot of exciting news which will I’ll share at a later date.

Cynthia Horner: I’m good at keeping secrets but I’m ready to burst at the seams (LOL).

AllHipHop: Explain what your present role entails work and business-wise? What are you up to these days?

Cynthia Horner: I have my fingers in many pies. In addition to editing several magazines, I publish my own and I still have a public relations firm called Cinnamon CHIPS Media. My husband and I specialize in working with young artists like Jahee (an R&B singer who is featured on the song “Uncongenial Lover”) and several other artists.

AllHipHop: You were running Right On! magazine at the age of 21. How was that for you?

Cynthia Horner: I had to be one of the world’s most responsible employees. The job fell into my lap but I had to put in the work. I entrusted with a huge amount of responsibility and had to walk a fine line, especially when I had to work so closely with the biggest names in the entertainment world—The Jacksons, Soul Train dancers, Janet Jackson, New Edition, and then spearheading the hip hop journalism movement. Although I never thought I would get involved with entertainment journalism, my first job blossomed into becoming my life.

AllHipHop: What is the hardest part of being successful these days?

Cynthia Horner: I need to find more time to do things for myself. The only occasion where I have downtime is when I am not feeling well. The rest of the time I’m awake 24/7

AllHipHop: Can you describe a moment of adversity personal and in your career?

Cynthia Horner: I like to keep things positive, especially since I’m the keeper of the legacy of Right On!, which is an expression of positivity. But it’s disconcerting that some people who are in the entertainment field do not understand the value of people of color who work in the media field. But nothing will ever stop me. If our ancestors could survive in the face of adversity, then who am I to complain about the small stuff? I’m still out here doing what I love and enjoying reinventing myself all the time.

AllHipHop: What keeps you pushing forward?

Cynthia Horner: Knowing that there is a need for my skills. Also, while I am want to make sure that I correct a lot of misinformation about entertainment journalism.

AllHipHop: Who inspired you to become a leader or boss?

Cynthia Horner: Initially I inspired myself. I always wanted to be a role model. That was my thing. As an adult, however, I was inspired by Suzanne DePasse at Motown Records. She is a person who has since made her mark in the areas of film and television but a very long time ago, she spearheaded artist development at Motown. The artists were trained to be their best and that was so important. I incorporated a lot artist development techniques with our magazines in terms of styling photo sessions, media training, etc., so that the celebrities would shine. Alex Haley, author of “Roots,” was another hero. And, of course, the late broadcast journalist Walter Cronkite. I have a lot of heroes and sheroes.

It’s disconcerting that some people who are in the entertainment field do not understand the value of people of color who work in the media field. But nothing will ever stop me. – Cynthia Horner

AllHipHop: How do you balance work, and personal life?

Cynthia Horner: I try to make sure that I do some normal things that are not entertainment-related as I have been accused of being a workaholic. I am married to a wonderful man, Ken Harris, aka KENTHEPHOTOGRAPHER, and that helps. He and I have been married for nearly 9 years, and he keeps me grounded. My wedding day was the biggest day of my life; I felt like the true Princess Bride.

AllHipHop:What is something most people don’t know about Cynthia Horner?

Cynthia Horner: I am a shopper who won’t spend a cent unless it’s a bargain. Every single “big day” outfit was purchased for so little money that it is unbelievable. That is total fun to me. I also loved reading romance novels written by Rochelle Alers who was a special surprise guest at my wedding. And I have a collection of well-loved stuffed animals and I am a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

AllHipHop: Final words?

Cynthia Horner: I can honestly say that I have done my job well, but the job isn’t done. Look out for the stories that I am telling on digital platforms, magazines and other places…

6ix9ine Believes There’s A Conspiracy To Brand Him As A Pedophile

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine blasted his critics who have labeled him a pedophile, over a raunchy video he created in 2015.

In November of 2017, 6ix9ine plead guilty to three felony counts of use of a child in a sexual performance.

6ix9ine says he had no idea the naked girl featured in the video was 13-years-old since she allegedly lied about her age.

“When people comment under my s##t ‘pedophile’ and all that s##t, I’m so numb to it because I know what I am and who I am,” 6ix9ine said during an interview with The Breakfast Club. “Say, I would understand if I was his age [pointing to Charlamagne] and got this charge and it looked disturbing but the media don’t see it as, ‘this kid got caught up in some s##.t'”

As part of his plea, 6ix9ine was required to obtain a GED, perform 300 hours of community service, and seek two years of mental health treatment amongst other conditions, which also comes with an obligation to write an open letter to the victim’s relatives.

But 6ix9ine condemned the media for intensifying his problems, simply for reporting on his case.

“This is how nasty the media is. This is how nasty they are and try to paint a picture and violate,” 6ix9ine asserted. “This is what the system does to youth. I’m an 18-year-old kid with my life in front of me. Now that I rap and I’m somebody when these charges come up, it’s like “Oh my god, he’s a monster.”

The rap star is scheduled to go in front of a judge on April 10th, where he could end up being sentenced to prison time.

A Constant “Pain” Is Driving Dr. Dre’s Success

(AllHipHop News) Dr. Dre believes his career motivation stems from the pain he feels over losing close family members.

Over the course of a career spanning more than three decades the hip-hop star, real name Andre Young, has amassed a $740 million fortune from recording, producing, and as the founder of Aftermath Entertainment and Beats Electronics.

But also during that time, Dre has also suffered his fair share of heartbreak – his half-brother Jerome died of pneumonia when Dre was just one-year-old, while his other half-brother Tyree died in 1989 after he was attacked and left with a broken neck.

And the “Straight Outta Compton” rapper says the creativity that has earned him his fortune is fueled by the grief and sadness brought on by family tragedy.

“There’s this certain pain that I feel – and I don’t know if it’s because of my brother’s death, or (other) deaths in the family – but it’s this thing,” he tells British newspaper The Times.

The musician also lost his son Andre Young Jr., to a heroin overdose in 2008, at the age of just 20 – but says he has refused therapy as he worries it will make him less driven.

“I’m not sure if I should get rid of it. I don’t know if that’s where my talent lies, or my passion lies for what I do,” he explains. “I’ve been actually asked to talk about it and go to therapy and what have you, but I’m not sure that’s something I wanna do. Because I don’t think I should change it.”

Dre started out as a member of the pioneering gangsta rap group N.W.A. before finding success as a solo artist, producer, record label boss and entrepreneur. He and longtime musical collaborator Jimmy Iovine founded audio company Beats Electronics together in 2006, before selling the company to Apple for $3 billion in 2014.

The duo’s stunningly successful partnership is also the subject of the documentary series, “The Defiant Ones.”

Where’s The Beef? Wendy’s Dropping A Mixtape?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Let me tell you. Hip-Hop is the most powerful musical force on Earth. If you don’t know, just look at Wendy’s. The burger brand has been on social media going at its rivals for quite sometime. Everybody has gotten quite a quick out of it. I wonder if Steve Stoute is behind all this. It smells like dude. But I am not made or complaining. Wendy’s announced today that is has a mixtape coming (or out) called “We Beefin” and “they trending.” too.

Take a look:

The mixtape has songs like “Twitter Fingers” and “Rest In Grease.” It seems like they want to go at rappers too. Anyway, I am really waiting for Burger King and MAC Donald’s to respond to this.

By the way, I was unable to locate the mixtape on Spotify.

With that, I say…where’s the beef?

Cardi B Is Mad At Government!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Cardi B may not have an album out yet, but her star is shining just as bright. She recently spazzed on the United States government for taking so much money she makes in the form of taxes. Where do taxes go? She said almost half of her money moves are going to Uncle Sam. .”When you donate to a kid in a foreign country, they give you updates on what they’re doing with your donation,” Bardi said. “I want updates on my tax money.” I can’t call it since I hit a pothole that destroyed my rim. Anyway, check out Cardi B talk about it.

On a side note, 6ix9ine says he’s the hottest rapper in New York City. He’s definitely doing his thing, but hotter than Cardi B? Not so much. However, on the Breakfast Club, he pleaded his case to the gang.

Thoughts? Overall, this says a lot about the state of NYC rap.

DJ Khaled’s Aiming For The Biggest Collaboration Of His Career

(AllHipHop News) DJ Khaled is determined to make his dream collaboration with Eminem a reality.

The 42-year-old musician has frequently spoken about the artists he’d love to work with – and the “Lose Yourself” star is always at the top of the list.

While Khaled finally achieved the first part of his dream when he met Eminem at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this month, he’s keen to further their professional relationship.

“I finally met him the other day at the iHeart Music Awards, but I didn’t really get a chance to talk to him, talk to him,” Khaled told Billboard.com. “The next step, I think, is for me to deliver something that he’ll love to get on. I’m friends with his manager and I’m going to reach out to him and I’m going to send him something. Hopefully, he’ll like to get on it. I just want to make sure when I send it, it’s the one.

“Throughout the years, I’ve been telling you I’ve been trying to get him on records. I had the ones, but now, I’m working on the new album, so I want to create the new one. Hopefully, he’s willing to work and again, I’m a big fan. He’s somebody that I haven’t worked with yet, and I would love to pull it off.”

Among Khaled’s other dream collaborators are Dr. Dre and Adele. He recently got to work with singer Demi Lovato when he toured with her in her Tell Me You Love Me Tour, and cited the moment the star celebrated six years of sobriety on stage as his favorite point on the trek.

“When we went onstage just to sing her happy birthday about her accomplishment, I told her I feel like she was chosen to go through what she went through and to teach the young world not to go through what she went through,” he mused. “The blessing was that she overcame it, and that’s what it’s about: When you fall, you get up. She fell, she got up. That’s a major win. That’s what I wanted the world to know.”

Jacquees Has Something To Say About His Arrest On Ocean Drive

(AllHipHop News) R&B singer Jacquees was arrested Wednesday night in Miami after cops tried to stop him in his Lamborghini.

The singer was detained following allegations that he disregarded the police’s demands to pull over.

The 23-year-old singer was riding in his Black Lamborghini around 4:30 PM, when officers tried to stop him for reportedly not using his seat belt.

The arresting officers insist he was resistant when he finally did stop, and Jacquees ended up being charged with failure to obey a lawful command, and for the seat belt infraction.

It now appears that Jacquees may be gearing up for a potential lawsuit against Miami Beach PD after one of its officers got rough with him during a traffic stop.

The singer recorded a video for his fans, and he addressed the police officers using what he describes as excessive force.

“I’m just here to let all of my fans and people who support me know that I am physically and mentally okay. The excessive force used during my arrest for not wearing my seat belt was ridiculous. However at this time I have been advised not to speak on the situation and to allow my legal representatives to look at the situation and to handle it however they feel is necessary. I love all of my fans and make sure you wear your seat belt,” said Jacquees.

We are glad he is okay!

Cardi B Making Some Money Moves Outside Of Hip-Hop!

By: Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) Cardi B has gone from unknown artist to one of Hip-Hop’s biggest stars in only a few years. The rapper’s music can constantly be heard on radio station’s throughout the country.

Her music videos are doing millions of views easily and she is currently engaged to another fellow rap star. A tour featuring Bruno Mars and Cardi B is also currently scheduled to begin this fall.

Everything Cardi B has been touching has turned into gold recently and her latest move may do the same. Cardi B has frequently endorsed the clothing chain Fashion Nova and it looks as if they are developing a new relationship.

Fashion Nova recently filed documents for the names “Cardi B” and “CB” for blouses, bodysuits, dresses, jackets, jumpsuits, leggings, footwear, rompers, skirts, undergarments and shirts is the plan.

This looks like an indication that the retail company is looking to get into the Cardi B business. That wouldn’t be such a bad move seeing that the rapper was nominated for a Grammy award at the 2018 ceremony.

She also recently won the iHeart Best New Artist trophy at their 2018 award show. Things are steady looking up for Cardi B as she preps her debut album.Atlantic Records plans to release the album this year.

It’s said that the album could be coming out as early as next month.

Kendrick Lamar Biography Detailing His Rise To Stardom Is In The Works

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar is being immortalized in an upcoming book. Journalist Marcus J. Moore announced he is working on a K. Dot biography titled The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America.

“Some big news I’ve been eager to share: I’ve signed with [Touchstone Books] to write the cultural biography of Kendrick Lamar,” tweeted Moore.

Since his arrival on the national scene in 2011, Lamar has released four critically acclaimed albums and won 12 Grammy awards. The Butterfly Effect will cover K. Dot’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, To Pimp a Butterfly, and DAMN LPs as well as the impact of the Compton wordsmith’s work.

“My book details the artist’s coming of age as an MC, how he helped resurrect two languishing genres (bebop and jazz), his profound impact on a racially fraught America, and his emergence as the bonafide King of Rap,” Moore told Pigeons & Planes.

According to the author, he is interviewing people around Kendrick. Apparently, the TDE emcee’s team is aware of the book.

Did 6ix9ine Finally Admit His Gangsta Persona Is Just Him Trolling?

(AllHipHop News) Is 6ix9ine the next rap superstar? Or is he just an internet troll who will be irrelevant by next year? Those are questions Hip Hop followers have been asking for months, and the controversial Brooklyn native gave some insight into the answers in a new interview.

While appearing on The Breakfast Club, 6ix9ine reinforced his often repeated statements that he sees himself as the “King of New York,” that he “can’t be touched,” and that he is a Blood gang member. However, the “Gummo” rapper also confessed he purposely irritates his foes to make a point, and he likely gave the most clear-cut admission that he’s actually just trolling the world.

“I want to make an example… The reason for the rainbow hair, the reason for the rainbow teeth – I’m literally showing the industry that all that fake gangsta sh-t – cut it out, blood,” stated Tekashi69. “Look how stupid I look right now. I got a big ass ’69’ on my face with rainbow hair.”

He continued, “I’m literally sitting hearing talking about all these people wanting to beef with me and all these people calling me out. How stupid do they look? I’m literally the one getting under their skin and making them act out of character. Gangstas don’t even say what they’re gonna do, they do it.”

6ix9ine was also questioned on why he did not perform at his headlining SXSW show where J. Prince Jr. and his crew showed up to apparently confront the 21-year-old entertainer. The Mexican/Puerto Rican admitted he did not hit the stage in Austin because he felt the situation was not safe for him.

“It’s started looking like a set-up to me,” said the Day69 creator. “I said, ‘Wassup with the security? They allowing that? How am I supposed to give your venue, your crowd a good performance?’ I’m supposed to be looking over my back while I’m performing? I’m not about to get ‘WorldStarred’ on a WorldStar stage.”

Even though he regularly mentioned his current Billboard chart success, 6ix9ine suggested he could retire from the rap game by 2019. That was before Charlamagne Tha God reminded him that he was being challenged to still be around a year from now.

“I’ll be out until 2020. When Bobby Shmurda comes back, I’ll give everything to him,” quipped Tekashi.

The OVO Sound head sent Herbo a direct message on Instagram asking the Chicago spitter why did he “spaz” on the beat. Drake also suggested the freestyle should be turned into a full song.

Herbo was quick to oblige. He posted a longer version of his “Who Run It” freestyle to Spinrilla and YouTube.
