(AllHipHop News) “Melanin Magic” featuring Chris Brown is the latest single from New York rapper Remy Ma. The track is a precursor to Rem’s Seven Winters & Six Summers album.
“I posted a picture on social media and somebody was saying how they thought I would be pretty if I wasn’t so dark skinned and it sparked this whole conversation,” Remy explained on Request on Beats 1. “First of all, anyone that knows me knows that I wrote the only comment back then I ran out of characters but I didn’t post it and I was like you know what, I have a better way to deal with this.”
She added, “Now we’re starting to see it not just with women who are melanated, but women across the board – in music, in politics, in acting – and you’re seeing this onset of different women coming out and they’re supporting each other. That’s the cool thing… It’s just embracing who you are and the person that God made you to be.”
Reminisce Mackie has embraced partnering with other female rappers in recent months. For example, she will be part of the “Queens of Hip-Hop” concert with Trina, Eve, MC Lyte, Rah Digga, and others.
Cardi B, Young M.A, and DeJ Loaf got shout outs from Remy during her Beats 1 discussion. The interview also included the Love & Hip Hop star conversing about her “Wake Me Up collaborator Lil Kim.
“The first time we got in the studio… we just spent literally a good six hours laughing. She’s hilarious like people would not even know. First of all she’s the coolest chick ever. We say all the time, ‘Yo, I wish we would’ve became friends sooner because there’s so many things we have in common that it’s scary,'” stated Rem.
(AllHipHop News) The Hip Hop duo known as PRhyme is returning with their second studio album on Friday, March 16. NPR Music provided a “first listen” of PRhyme 2 before its official release next week.
Royce 5’9” and DJ Premier also spoke with the media outlet about the project. In particular, the topic of “mumble rap” came up during the conversation.
“When you say ‘mumble rap,’ who are you talking about? Rappers who can’t rap that well? Because there’s a such thing as being really good at what you do, but you’re not a lyricist,” said Royce. “It doesn’t give me the authority to critique you as a lyricist if you’re not claiming to be a lyricist. It doesn’t make me an expert. It just means I do one thing; you do something else.”
Breakout rap star Lil Uzi Vert – who has referred to himself as a mumble rapper – became one of the faces of the generational gap taking place in the culture. Two years ago, the Philadelphian caught some backlash from Hip Hop purists when he refused to rap over a DJ Premier beat during an appearance on Hot 97.
Premo publicly defended Uzi and released a statement saying they were “all good.” It turns out, the legendary producer and Royce actually attempted to recruit the “XO Tour Llif3” hitmaker for the PRhyme 2 track “Everyday Struggle.”
“Uzi Vert was supposed to be on it with us,” Premier says. Royce originally recorded the hook heard on the song as a reference for Uzi to sing, but Uzi wanted to contribute his own hook and verse. He’s poppin’ right now, but he understood the concept. It just never came together schedule-wise.”
Back in 2015, Royce announced he wanted “real lyricists” such as Eminem, The Game, and Kendrick Lamar for PRhyme 2. The album does feature Chavis Chandler, Dave East, Roc Marciano, Yelawolf, Rapsody, Big K.R.I.T., Denaun Porter, 2 Chainz, and more.
(AllHipHop News) Vince Staples is going hard for his campaign to raise $2 million from his detractors. His “Get The F-ck Off My D-ck” GoFundMe page was temporarily deleted, but it’s now active once again.
The online fundraiser was revived following Vince taking to Twitter to question GoFundMe’s decision to remove his “retirement” pledge drive. He also tweeted pleads of help to Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, and the ABC talk show The View.
“So can somebody at [GoFundMe] tell me why they took my campaign down? Why must thy block my blessings!!” wrote the Long Beach native. “Somebody call [The Ellen Show] better get call [Oprah] and the whole [The View.] We gonna need everybody to fight this injustice. #GTFOMD will live.”
Staples later returned to the social media site to post, “Wow. I want everybody to thank Kelsey for protecting my future and reinstating my campaign. What a way to finish up International Women’s Day.”
As of press time, the #GTFOMD GoFundMe campaign has only raised $1,480. However, Vince Staples got a lot of online buzz for his new song “Get The F-ck Off My D-ck.”

(AllHipHop News) While debates go on about Xan’s comments about legendary rapper 2Pac, the Cali rapper has dropped details regarding his upcoming project.
During his stop in New York, Diego met with Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning to talk about his come up, his Xanarchy Gang message and how life on the road has been treating him.
They also had a very real discussion about anxiety, overcoming his addiction to Xanax and how eating healthy could improve his health.
Xan also revealed the new date for his Total Xanarchy album, which has been pushed back from March 17 to April 6.
With that tidbit of news, he also announced some of the features on the album, which include YG on “Round Here,” 2 Chainz on “Tick Tock,” Rae Sremmurd on “Shine Hard” and “Colorblind” with Diplo. Bobby Johnson, Charli XCX, and $teven Cannon are also guests on the effort.
Fans should know that the second album will be under the name “Diego,” considering a lot of people already call him that and he’s about halfway through the name change.
He’s conscious about the stigma surrounding his name now and has vowed to change it to keep spreading a more positive message.
Keep an eye out for his album to drop next month and the remix to “Betrayed” with some special guests to drop real soon.
(AllHipHop Rumors) DJ Akademiks is guy that people love or hate ol’ boy. And Complex went from a magazine to a media monolith. But, what is the result?
Nipsey Hussle is one of the realest in the music game and didn’t mince words when it was time to call Akademiks and Complex out. In a recent interview, the West Coast lyricist shared his opinion on both.
21 Savage has opted to stop wearing jewelry and invest that money, to which Akademiks took exception to the evolutionary notion. And then Nipsey lambasted Akademiks and, later came back around to drive-by Complex too.
“They said recently that 21 Savage said that he stopped buying jewelry and he gonna spend his money on investing. You know, that’s a powerful message,” Nip said. He disagreed strongly with Akademiks after that. “Akademiks criticized him and said, ‘I don’t want to hear nothin’ but killin’ and I’m about to kill the opps.’ and he like ‘I don’t want to hear that from 21 Savage.’ That sh#t right there get you f#cked up. And we supposed to f### n#ggas up for that. Period. It ain’t supposed to be understanding. We supposed to catch you at ComplexCon or where ever you at and we supposed to spank you for that. And you supposed to learn ‘I was wrong.'”
Nipsey put the ownership on such irresponsible messages on Complex media who profits heavily as web traffic increases.
“You got companies that add gas to them sparks for their own interest and then they sell advertising space and I don’t like that sh#t. I’m clear on what that motto is,” Nipsey said, “You playin’ wit n#ggas. You coonin, like you said. You taking something that’s serious and that people doin’ with integrity and you spinnin’ it for some f#ck sh#t and I don’t agree with that.”
Nipsey took it a step farther and said that Akademiks and Complex are creating tension and friction in the same way VIBE and other outlets helped fuel the “East Coast vs. West Coast beef.”
What do you think? Are these alleged “culture vultures” destroying Hip-Hop and making beef when its really broccoli?

(AllHipHop News) Will Smith and his son Jaden have been sending shipments of their eco-friendly bottled water to help the people of Flint, Michigan amid their ongoing pollution crisis.
The father and son duo founded the JUST company in 2015, and brand bosses have started sending crates of their products, which are packaged in paper-based cartons, to school authorities in the embattled city, where residents have been exposed to lead-contaminated water due to a change in river source in 2014.
JUST officials have already provided 9,200 bottles to school kids, and have pledged to continue donating until Flint’s tap water is safe to drink again.
“This just makes sense for us to do,” JUST CEO Ira Laufer told MLive. “After reading more about (Flint’s) challenges… we thought, ‘Let’s help these kids’.”
Authorities in Flint are currently working to replace the corroded water pipes, but the huge job is not expected to be completed until 2020.
The Smiths are not the first celebrities to step up and help the people of Flint – superstar Cher, and Mark Wahlberg and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sent water shipments to the area in 2016, while Beyonce, Big Sean, The Game, and Bruno Mars are among those who donated funds to pay for bottled water for residents.
Some have called him a national treasure, others say he goes way too far, but at the end of the day you have to respect Vince for speaking his mind. This time the LBC based emcee drops some serious bars on the track “Get the F**k Off My D*ck.” If you would also like Vince to shut up forever, donate here to his GTFOMD Go Fund Me page that currently has 116 donations reaching $1,455 of Vince’s $2.0M goal so far, we aren’t donating – Vince is too dope!

You know, for someone who lives his life between a few different television shows, #SafareeSamuels has a lot of unknowns in his mix. Is he a genuinely a fun-loving good guy or genuinely a full-of-himself jerk? Does he honestly miss his ex or is he ready to move on to the next? (or both??) Is #RealityTV the dream or just part of a scheme? Is he laughing at #MeekMill’s mess or wishing him the best? Does he care about rapping or is this more about thirst-trapping? And will these rhyming descriptions ever end?? THAT ONE we have the answer to. For the rest, including who thought he was #gay,

(AllHipHop Rumors) J Hood recently spoke out about his affiliation with The Lox and D-Block. The rapper hasn’t made waves in the Hip-Hop world in awhile after seeing sparks of success in the early 2000s.
The interview footage circulating is courtesy of Team CEO as they posted it to their YouTube channel. Audio can be heard as Hood speaks over the phone about the situation and his business dealings.
“I wasn’t just an artist on D-Block. I actually helped start this brand. I was a co-founder of this company.,” said J-Hood. He continued, “Lox is a 3-man group. You didn’t hear of D-Block until I stepped on the scene.”
J Hood would then continue to elaborate further on the situation as the interview continued. He further explained his involvement and contract dealings with The Lox.
“We sat down collectively and came up with the idea to start a movement and the plan was to have me at the head of the movement. I was going to be the first artist then we came up with the name.,” says J Hood.
He continued, “At the time they didn’t want to let me out my contract. So I felt like if y’all not doing what y’all supposed to be doing as far as holding up your obligations or whatever the case be just let me do what I do. Because I had other people that were interested in me at the time. So I felt like you guys are just trying to hold me until no one is interested no more. That obviously made me upset. Because now you’re taking money out my pockets that I could be using to feed my family.”
The Lox and J Hood had a very public beef in the late 2000s with both parties going back and forth. J Hood would later publicly apologize for the beef and Jadakiss would offer more of an explanation years later.
(AllHipHop News) A correctional officer who helped a notorious convict pull off multiple scams in the name of hip-hop, is heading to prison himself.
Jimmy Sabatino’s connection to hip-hop started in dramatic a way after he destroyed one of the L.A. Times’ biggest stories involving Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls’ rivalry.
Jimmy Sabatino’s was busted by the Feds earlier in September of 2017, for scamming Miami area jewelry stores out of almost $1 million worth of pricey goods by pretending to be an executive for Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
His scam assured local jewelry businesses that their wares would be featured in top hip-hop videos.
Instead, Jimmy Sabatino Jr and his Gambino Family connects sold the gems to pawn shops.
Former correctional officer Michael Mazar is accused of supporting Sabatino in his attempt to wash over $10 million dollars worth of jewelry.
In a scene that could be straight out of “Goodfellas,” Michael Mazar is accused of delivering Sabatino luxury items straight to his jail cell, including dozens of cell phones, eyeglasses headphones, and even fast food.
In 2008, Jimmy Sabatino received 15 minutes of fame, after alleging to be an early associate of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The L.A. Times printed a story with his information insisting Diddy and Biggie had previous knowledge that Tupac Shakur was going to be ambushed at Quad Studios in 1994 on the orders of James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond.
The story was blown apart and proven to be fake when journalists revealed Jimmy Sabatino had planted bogus documents into the federal court system.
Sabatino will be transferred to the Supermax in Florence, Colorado to serve out his time when he is sentenced in May.

“Flirt” features a signature beat from DJ Premier and sharp wordplay for Royce 5’9” with an unexpected sound from 2 Chainz. The new record is inspired by the lost art form of flirting. With the technological revolution transforming the way we communicate, human interaction has been drastically reduced and modern day flirtations have boiled down to “swipe left or swipe right.” At its core, “Flirt” is about love, being free and being respectful, living in the moment and interacting with each other in real time.
PRhyme 2, the second collaborative album from DJ Premier and Royce 5’9” is out March 16 via PRhyme Records.
