(AllHipHop Rumors) The game has changed a lot but, Casanova is cut from an old cloth – BURLAP! In these days, we see rappers softer than Cashmere and toilet paper. Not Cas! Casanova is bucking competition on wax, but in the street, he is ready too. A recent youtube showed exactly how Cas gets down when gunshots rang out. Look at this…check out the 3-minute mark if it doesn’t start properly.

Kanye West Gets Love From Donald Trump

Kanye West has caught the attention of the White House. The rap star’s tweets expressing his “love” for his “brother” President Donald Trump came up in a briefing. Clipse’s ‘Lord Willin’ To Be Released As Vinyl Me, Please’s Record Of The Month

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday, the world found out King Push is finally on the verge of letting loose his next LP. Kanye West broke the news via his Twitter page by tweeting, “Pusha T May 25th.”

While fans of the Virginia spitter will be able to check out his third studio album next month, they can also re-visit Clipse’s classic debut studio album. Pusha and Malice’s Lord Willin’ is being presented as the Record of the Month from the subscription club Vinyl Me, Please.

The re-issue of the 2002 collection comes on a 180-gram emerald vinyl. Remastered from original sources at Battery Studios in New York, Vinyl Me, Please re-cut the project at 45 RPM.

“It just gives more room to jam amazing sonic information of those grooves, in my non-engineering way of explaining it,” says Andrew Winistorfer is Head of Editorial at Vinyl Me, Please. “There’s been an unspoken—and sometimes spoken on the Internet and to me by some label people—thing in the audiophile vinyl world, that people don’t think there’s as much of a need or necessity to really go all out on rap and hip-hop remastering.”

Winistorfer continues, “There’s a perception that people buying rap albums don’t care as much about how good a record sounds, which we’ve sort of proven -with this, and our Rap & Hip Hop subscription – is not the case. It’s really great to be able to push back against this, and prove that people getting this or Goodie Mob actually do care.”

Other Hip Hop masterpieces made available through Vinyl Me, Please include The Fugees’ The Score, Main Source’s Breaking Atoms, and Goodie Mob’s Soul Food.

VMP is also offering a vinyl pressing of Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle as this May’s Rap & Hip Hop Album. 2018 marks the 25-year-anniversary of the West Coaster’s breakout set.

Happy 4/20: Celebrating the Progression of Cannabis and Hip-Hop Culture

Over the last few decades, there has been a progression in more ways than one in both the cannabis and hip-hop sectors. In many ways, cannabis has been a part of hip-hop culture since day one. Hip-hop was a subculture and art movement that developed in New York City during the late 1970s. During this time, pot smokers were already trying to advocate for cannabis after all the propaganda that had happened in the 1930s, and the Boggs Act of 1952 had just created severe mandatory sentences for a variety of drug-related offenses, including cannabis.

https://www.google.com/sorry/index?continue=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5piceYxkrI&q=EgQi3HnaGL3ygvkFIhkA8aeDS1hy0O0a7_ZPaF-M-96fcKCJCcJ0MgFy The final nail in the coffin for cannabis came when Congress passed the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. The act created individual schedules or categories that the various drugs fit into because of the potential for their abuse. The plant was placed in the most restrictive category, Schedule I, as the government concluded that cannabis had no valid medical use and that there was potential for abuse of it. But, hip-hop has played a role in cannabis advocacy since its inception, perhaps because of all the political turmoil that was happening on the topic around the time of the early hip-hop movement. Various artists have played a role in this, both legally and illegally, and have certainly been influential in normalizing the cannabis conversation.

5 Rappers Who Top the List for Cannabis Advocacy:

1. Cypress Hill

Cypress Hill began some of the earliest advocacy efforts in the 1990s, even going so far as to light a joint on stage during Saturday Night Live in 1993, and have now even formed a partnership with Bhang Chocolates and officially become a part of the cannabis industry. B-Real, lead artist for Cypress Hill, said, “It feels amazing that 25 years after we put our first album out, where we openly talked about legalizing marijuana, taboo at the time, that we finally as a people are living in time of legalization and now have opportunities to be a part of the blossoming industry.”

2. Snoop Dogg

Throughout his rap career, Snoop has performed songs such as Smoke the Weed, Kush Ups, This Weed Iz Mine, and of course there’s Snoop’s now catch-phrase lyric from The Next Episode “smoke weed every day” which hit the market in 2000 and has become one of the hashtags still used most frequently by stoners on social media. He has been in the forefront of this movement for over 20+ years now, being featured on Dr. Dre’s album The Chronic in 1992. Snoop has recently entered the industry as well, launching his own line of products, Leafs by Snoop, that is based in Colorado and a venture capital fund called Casa Verde Capital with $45 million to invest in the cannabis industry.

3. Wiz Khalifa

Even in 2011, at the age of 23, when he was asked about cannabis, Khalifa said, “It’s not just a musical thing, not just a creative thing. I just like to be in that zone. And it helps me just do everything. Pot just plays a huge roll in the everyday mechanics of my life. It totally keeps me grounded,” Wiz said in an interview. He has advocated for the plant through his music and public appearances every since. Khalifa has partnered with RiverRock Cannabis and now has a strain all of his own, Khalifa Kush. You can watch B Real of Cypress Hill and Wiz Khalifa talk about the topic of cannabis together on Smokebox.

4. Curren$y

It is no secret that New Orleans rapper Curren$y loves weed. He rhymes about it, he talks about it in interviews and continually helps to normalize the cannabis conversation in his music and outreach to fans. In 2012, when the very first United States (Colorado and Washington) legalized cannabis, he even offered a free weed rolling tray to anyone who pre-ordered his album Stoned Immaculate. Recently, Curren$y (aka Spitta Andretti), has partnered with long-time growers and attached his name to an OG strain after discovering it at a High Times Cup, and it has been coined “Andretti OG.” This OG strain survived years of raids, relocations and was originally popped from seed.

5. Berner

San Francisco based rapper Berner is a weed enthusiast and a businessman who grew up selling weed and making music because he enjoyed it, as did many other cannabis and hip-hop pioneers. Then, when his mom died of cancer, his mindset shifted and he became even more passionate about the cannabis movement. To date, Berner and his fam have created and marketed several unique cannabis strains, and he has also become a fashion and marijuana industry entrepreneur with his own medical marijuana dispensaries, Cookies SF, Collective Efforts, and H2C Cookies 707. He also owns two lifestyle clothing companies: FreshKo and Cookiesand runs a line of hemp water named Hemp20.

More Collaborations Between Cannabis and Hip-Hop

Now, aside from seeing hip-hop artists both advocate for cannabis and enter the cannabis industry, we are seeing other cannabis collaborations that are hip-hop themed pop up, such as Green Hop, which is the first historical hip-hop dispensary and is based in Portland, Oregon. Karaja Crews is the founder co-owner is the owner of Green Hop and said, “I was raised in the era of the early hip-hop movement and my adolescent years were spent being educated about who I was as a young black male by hip-hop artists,” and added, “I believe hip-hop helped cannabis become legal. The culture was unapologetic about the use of cannabis, artists kept talking about it and have ultimately help normalize cannabis.” Crews created the store to pay homage to the culture and to keep that story in the forefront, that “if it weren’t for hip-hop cannabis wouldn’t be legal and one of our key missions to help stop the cannabis stigma and to help promote science and medicinal benefits of the plant,” he explained. The shop does educational “know your bud” seminars, and is one of the only black-owned dispensaries in Portland. They are having their grand opening party on June 16th, and the headliner is Dead Prez. With how adversely minorities and especially young black men have been affected by cannabis prohibition and the overall drug war, it is critical that people of color who are entering the cannabis industry have equal access. Organizations such as The Hood Incubator in California are trying to do just that. Their mission is to increase the participation of Black and Brown communities in the legal cannabis industry- as investors, owners, workers, patients, consumers, and advocates through community organizing, policy advocacy, and economic development. Crews says Green Hop is creating a business incubator similar to this and hopes to advocate for the same things in Oregon.

Where did 420 come from anyway?

While some people think the term 420 originated from a police code, the association of 420 and weed originated in the 1970s with group of San Rafael High School friends known as the Waldos (because their chosen hang-out spot was a wall outside the school) who used the term in connection with a fall 1971 plan to search for an abandoned cannabis crop that they had learned about in a nearby forest. They designated the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and 4:20 p.m. as their meeting time. The group referred to this plan as “4:20 Louis.” After having no success in finding the crop, they eventually shortened their phrase to “4:20,” which quickly spread through the early ‘70s stoner culture and has now evolved into a codeword that cannabis consumers use on the daily. 4/20 has become a day that pot smokers all over the world celebrate each April 20th. The day has managed to become something of a national holiday for cannabis consumers everywhere, even in the face of prohibition. So, what’s your 4/20 on this holiday? Bow Wow Reveals The Rappers That Ghostwrote For Him Throughout His Career

(AllHipHop News) The practice of ghostwriting once again became a major topic in Hip Hop after Cardi B addressed Pardison Fontaine’s role as a credited co-writer for her “Be Careful” song. Rappers using other rappers’ pen game for their songs has been happening in the culture since the 1970s (see Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight”).

However, it’s very rare for recording artists to actually talk about recruiting another person to assist them with lyrics. Veteran rap star Shad “Bow Wow” Moss chose to openly discuss his use of ghostwriters in an interview with Genius.

According to the Atlanta-based entertainer, several legendary Hip Hop acts like Kurupt, Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, Jadakiss, and T.I. helped him with creating rhymes. Bow Wow also hinted that a very well-known emcee admitted to him that he also used ghostwriters.

“I ain’t gonna say no names, but it’s a lot of big dogs in the game – and I know this for a fact because he told me,” said Bow. “The n-gga was like, ‘I ain’t write none of this sh-t. But because I got the look and I’m stamped and because I’m a icon and I got that muscle behind me and they know I done did my sh-t, but I ain’t got time for that sh-t no more.'”

Numerous Hip Hop artists have been accused of using ghostwriters. There have been reports/rumors that Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Diddy, Nas, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil Kim, Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Ma$e, Jim Jones, Fat Joe, Foxy Brown, Big L, and others have gotten help writing their raps.

“Just know a lot of these n-ggas – even the ones that we consider legends and ‘Oh my God, he’s a god emcee’ – they done had songs written for them,” added Bow Wow.

Wiz even launched his own Khalifa Kush strand of marijuana, and he has promoted rolling papers, shredders, vaporizers, bongs, and other products. KK is available for legal purchase in Colorado and California.

“I be smoking KK til you think I’m unconscious,” rhymes the Pittsburgh representative on “420 Freestyle.”

50 Cent Reacts To Adrien Broner Blasting Mayweather Promotions & Leonard Ellerbe

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent is known to share his thoughts on damn near everything. So it comes as no surprise that the New Yorker has something to say about boxer Adrien Broner’s public takedown of Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.

Broner blasted Ellerbe and The Money Team during the final press conference before Saturday night’s bout against Jessie Vargas. AB said, “I know all of y’all against me. Him right here, Leonard Ellerbe, against me. They with this b-tch ass n-gga. Leonard a b-tch ass n-gga too.”

The Cincinnati native also told Ellerbe to “shut that soft ass sh-t up” when he tried to offer positive support for the fight. 50 loved Broner’s attitude at the presser.

Both 50 Cent and Adrien Broner have a history of being frenemies with Floyd Mayweather. Ellerbe, responded to AB’s digs by stating, “I’m the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, we’re the co-promoter of this card — done a phenomenal [job] of promoting this event. I’ll continue to do that. As I’ve said, this isn’t about me, whether someone likes me, I could care less.”

Did J. Cole Respond To Lil Pump’s Diss On The ‘KOD’ Track “1985”?

(AllHipHop News) When J. Cole revealed his KOD album cover which included images of drugged-out cartoon kids, many observers suspected the project would address the trend of younger rappers constantly rhyming about Xanax, Percocet, cocaine, lean, and other narcotics. The closing track on KOD is clearly a message to the youth in Hip Hop, but some fans believe it’s specifically targeted at one newcomer out of Florida.

Lil Pump has spent years trolling Cole on social media, The “Gucci Gang” performer repeatedly declared he was better than the veteran emcee, and he had no problem saying, “F-ck all that lyrical sh-t.”

Instead of strictly slamming the 17-year-old, it appears J. Cole decided to offer some sage advice for Pump on “1985 (The Fall Off).” People on Twitter quickly assumed the bars were for the “SoundCloud rapper.”

The Dreamville leader raps (in part):

I heard one of em’ diss me, I’m surprised
I ain’t trippin’, listen good to my reply
Come here lil’ man, let me talk with ya’
See if I can paint for you the large picture
Congrats ’cause you made it out your mama’s house
I hope you make enough to buy your mom a house
I see your watch icy and your whip foreign
I got some good advice, never quit tourin’
‘Cause that’s the way we eat here in this rap game
I’m f-ckin’ with your funky lil’ rap name…

I must say, by your songs I’m unimpressed, hey
But I love to see a black man get paid
And plus, you havin’ fun and I respect that
But have you ever thought about your impact?
These white kids love that you don’t give a f-ck
‘Cause that’s exactly what’s expected when your skin black
They wanna see you dab, they wanna see you pop a pill
They wanna see you tatted from your face to your heels
And somewhere deep down, f-ck it, I gotta keep it real
They wanna be black and think your song is how it feels…

I’m just tellin’ you what’s probably gon’ happen when you rappin’
‘Bout the type of sh-t you rappin’ ’bout
It’s a faster route to the bottom
I wish you good luck
I’m hoping for your sake that you ain’t dumb as you look
But if it’s really true what people sayin’
And you call yourself playin’ with my name
Then I really know you f-cked, trust
I’ll be around forever ’cause my skills is tip-top
To any amateur n-ggas that wanna get rocked
Just remember what I told you when your sh-t flop
In five years you gon’ be on Love & Hip-Hop, n-gga

FBI Say Rapper Ralo Used Private Jets To Smuggle Millions In Drugs

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper Ralo was recently released from prison, but his legal troubles are far from over.

Cops have booked Ralo on a felony count of Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana after the rap star allegedly tried to smuggle almost $2 million worth of the drug on a private plane.

Last night, (April 18), an apartment investigators claim is linked to the rap star was raided by the FBI and the ATF in Atlanta.

“It’s an ongoing investigation so I can’t comment beyond what’s on the complaint. We have several individuals who were arrested based on state charges but, as you know, that there’s a federal complaint filed so we’ll be seeking additional evidence,” U.S. District Attorney Byung J. “BJay” Pak said.

Police had been monitoring Ralo’s activities for months, and they finally hit paydirt in December of 2017, when the cops seized over 520 pounds of marijuana worth $1 million, from a vehicle near the Fulton County Airport.

Prosecutors also claim Ralo was involved in another shipment that came in via a private plane to the Fulton County Airport on April 15, where over 444 pounds of weed worth $840,000 was eventually discovered.

Police accuse Ralo of being a major drug distributor who leads a gang called Famerica.

Ralo’s attorney said his client will plead not guilty to all of the charges.

Cardi B Refuses To Reveal Baby’s Name Out Of Respect For Offset

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B’s fiance Offset has already chosen their baby’s name.

The rap star confirmed her pregnancy after months of speculation as she performed on U.S. TV show “Saturday Night Live” earlier this month.

She’s since been doing the promo rounds for her debut album Invasion of Privacy and appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday, where she chatted to the host about plans for her first child.

Asked if she had started thinking about names yet, Cardi replied: “Yeah my dude named the baby. I really like the name.”

And when Ellen pushed her to reveal the name, she smiled: “I’m gonna let him say the name, since he named the baby. It’s like almost tricky but when it comes out it’s like, ‘Ohh!!'”

Ellen then told Cardi that she’d pay her $20,000 if she called her baby Ellen, to which the money-savvy rapper replied: “Can I put it in the middle name?”

Lil Xan Still Loves His Starbucks!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Rapper Lil Xan has risen in the Hip Hop community using his troll-like antics. The young rapper has a mostly teenage fanbase that has been spearheading his ascension.

Xan caught some flack earlier this year for his comments about Tupac Shakur. He would eventually apologize after his words caught up with him when he ran into trouble with a group of high schoolers who didn’t take kindly to his comments about Pac.

The rapper is now making headlines again after being asked about the current racial issues between the African-American community and Starbucks. TMZ cameras caught up with the Xan as he exited a local Starbucks.

Lil Xan was out with fellow rapper Steven Cannon and they proudly displayed their Starbucks products. This kinda only shows how out of touch they truly are with the Hip-Hop community they claim to love.

I never knew Iced Lattes could cause so much tension. The ironic thing is that latte is looking like it’s about to last longer than Lil Xan’s rap career!

Prince’s Memoir To Be Released

(AllHipHop News) The memoir Prince was working on before his death in 2016 is to hit stores later this year.

The “Purple Rain” icon’s autobiography was a hot-ticket item in the publishing world in the weeks leading up to his death and now ICM Partners publishing agent Esther Newberg has revealed her company will be releasing the first draft of the book before the Christmas holidays.

“(The way we pitched Prince has) never been done before,” Newberg said on Variety’s Strictly Business podcast. “Editors don’t like to be in the same room making their pitches to the same potential clients. We had to do it because I knew he would not want to meet individually with editors.”

Prince worked with author Dan Piepenbring on the book and delivered 50 handwritten manuscript pages, according to Variety. Newberg reveals the memoir could include reproductions of Prince’s manuscripts.

The deal for Prince’s memoir, tentatively titled “The Beautiful Ones,” was announced a month before he died of an accidental drug overdose.

It was described at the time as “an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work.”

Kanye West Announces Solo Album & Joint Album With Kid Cudi As Kids See Ghost

(AllHipHop News) Yeezy season will be upon us in a couple of weeks. Kanye West used his revived Twitter page to announce he has new music on the way.

First, Ye tweeted “my album is 7 songs” which was followed by a tweet that simply read “June 1st.” The Chicago-bred performer then shared that he’s also collaborating with Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi for a joint project.

“me and Cudi album June 8th,” posted Kanye. “it’s called Kids See Ghost. That’s the name of our group.”

There have been rumors for months that the two Midwesterners were secretly recording together. Last August, reports circulated that Kanye and Cudi connected in Japan to make tracks.

Mescudi was heavily involved in the creation of Kanye’s 2008 LP 808s & Heartbreak. The Cleveland rhymer also contributed to “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1” off 2016’s The Life of Pablo.

Cudi’s discography is filled with guests features from his G.O.O.D Music mentor. Ye also produced several songs for the “Make Her Say” rhymer.

Previously, Kanye West teamed with Jay-Z for Watch the Throne. Kid Cudi’s last solo body of work was Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ in 2016.

Business Is Booming Behind Bars For DMX

(AllHipHop News) Imprisoned rap star DMX is making good use of his time behind bars.

According to reports, DMX is still at Metropolitan Correctional Center, awaiting a transfer to FCI Danbury to serve out his sentence.

The rapper has been receiving hundreds of letters, notes, and drawings from fans.

DMX is also reportedly fielding offers to write a book, and do a movie on his life.

The rapper, born Earl Simmons, was sentenced to a year in prison for purposely dodging over $1.7 million dollars in taxes.

Many people believed DMX would be serving a longer sentence since he violated the terms of his bail multiple times.

But the judge presiding over the case called DMX a “good man” and then handed the rapper his prison time.

He won’t be completely free, as he will still have to abide by the terms of his supervised, three-year probation sentence.
