#AHHPowerfulWomen: Jamila Mustafa Is The Next Level Of Media

By Akanke Jackson

(AllHipHop Features) With a name like Mustafa, you have to learn how to be a beast. Jamila Mustafa is an award-winning broadcast journalist from Wilmington, Delaware. Growing up as a child Jamila hated her name because it was foreign. With Jamila meaning “Beautiful” and Mustafa meaning “the chosen one”, she had no idea how worthy her name really is. Jamila started to embrace her name during a class trip to China where she first started realizing why her ancestors created that name. Her parents were so impressed with her natural talent they decided to hire an agent to help build her career. After taking many trips to the Big Apple Jamila finally landed a deal on a hit Fox a television series called “The Philadelphia Eagles Kids Club” the show lasted for three long seasons. With having many talents such as acting, dancing and extreme karate fighting she was destined to become a household name. Confidence and poise have gained Jamila to be featured on Black HBCUBuzz 30 under 30, BET 30 under 30, Young Black and LIT, plus many more. Her goal as an entertainer is to be receiving an Oscar than covering the show.

Ms. Mustafa has made history leading a tour for NBC’s “Hall of Fame Tour” as the youngest headliner ever! After denying her request the first year in 2016, she came back again in 2017 demanding that she is what the tour needs. She toured colleges such as Alabama State University, Bethune Cookman University, and Texas Southern University. During her tour, she raised scholarship money for each school in hopes of spreading knowledge and unity among each other. Her goal is to raise enough money in the school to help pay for their new equipment in order for the students to express themselves.

Jamila’s infamous quote “I am aiming to be significant and not famous” came about when she met Oprah Winfrey. Her mother kept an old news article which called Jamila to be the prophet of her generation. As others would have given anything to meet the Daytime Queen herself, it would be opposite for Jamila. She claims to not know who the legend is, it wasn’t until she did her research that she got a peek into Oprah’s career. The first time she met Ms. Winfrey she had her pen and paper ready. Jamila claims everything she heard Oprah say was very unexpected “she was so before her time, she gave me 3 quotes that I still use today.”

1.) Be true to who you are. 2.) Be successful for something 3.) Always do the right thing

But for young Mustafa she was caught off guard with the simple quotes, she had no idea how these steps could make her an icon. Winfrey’s easy yet complex phrases have help guide Mustafa as a young entrepreneur.

To determine whether your life is a prophecy you have to have a defined feeling of the social world and events to come. A journalist back in 2007, claimed that Jamila will be a star. Here’s an actual quote from the article “Jamila Mustafa on kids Eagle TV show—one day she’s going to be so famous she’s going to hire her family to work for her—she’s going to be a household name.” Growing up in Wilmington, Delaware the options of having a role model was limited. Often she had to use her imagination of what her life would be like if she came from a big city. Which wasn’t hard for the child star, her confidence is shown through her actions, which has intimidated her competition. Her imagination often came to play when she entered competitions in her tween years. Throughout her life journey she’s been a keen player, taking the crown home five times as Delaware’s very own pageant Queen. Mustafa has destroyed the competition when she ran for Ms. Delaware State University. But her success didn’t come from winning the crown, it came when she was able to voice the problems of Black Colleges everywhere not having enough earnings for their scholars. She conquered the dreams of so many little girls around the nation, that she knew many of her competitors wondered why Jamila? And Jamila response is “what’s for me is for me.”

With a mouth as powerful Sojourner Truth, with a mind like Oprah Winfrey, and a fight like Malcolm X, how can she fail? Her journey through life is nothing less of resistant. Every loss she has taken has been a lesson, every step she has taken has been a blessing, and when true talent walks into the room everyone becomes obsolete. The leader of the millennial generation has so many plans for the next year and we can’t wait to watch her grow. It was an honor for us to converse with the next Queen of the Jungle for Women’s History Month, here are some additional questions we asked Jamila:

AllHipHop: During Women’s History Month who do you admire the most?

I would have to say, my mother because she’s the one who encourages me the most throughout my life.

AllHipHop: Does it frustrate you when you see people acting as though they can do your talent.

I think of it as, everyone has their own destiny, I can’t allow myself to get upset if someone has the job I want, I just push myself harder the next time.

AllHipHop: What do you prefer to read as a journalist?

I read books that will make me think, I like to be able to challenge myself as a journalist.

AllHipHop: How do you manage your personal life and your career?

My personal life is my career, all of my friends are in media too. I always plan my time away from work, weeks in advance so I can be with family.

AllHipHop: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

I love that all my co-workers are different in their own way. I love how throughout the day there are last minute changes that I can adjust to.

UHHHHH: 6ix9ine And Akademiks Vacation Together

(AllHipHop Rumors) This is just weird. I am thinking that these guy are more than rapper and interviewer. DJ Akademiks is an employee of the Complex Media world, which is all-good. And Tekashi69 is probably the most talked about rapper around today. In the media diaspora, there has been a less egregious overt blending of journalist (if you can call dude that) and artist. We know they overlap a lot, but this is crazy! AK and Tekashi went on vacation and….not a girl in sight. Just weird!

And then, then he went swimming with a hat on like he’s LL Cool J.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BguYtowgCB3/

And why do they keep trying to call 69 a “kid” at the age of 21? That’s a man. Me thinks they trying to evoke some sympathy from those wolves. Because, the wolves are out there…

Kanye Employee Airlifted To Hospital After Horrific Accident At Office

(AllHipHop News) A member of staff at Kanye West’s offices in Los Angeles has reportedly been airlifted to hospital after severely injuring his leg.

A man was transporting a heavy piece of machinery at the Calabasas Tech Center when it fell over and landed on his foot.

The man was stuck under the equipment for several minutes, and it reportedly took at least seven people to lift it and remove his foot.

Law enforcement sources said that they responded to a call about the incident, and confirmed his injury was so bad it required airlift transport for emergency medical care.

A representative for the Life of Pablo rapper has yet to comment on the report.

Killer Mike, DJ Paul Want You To Leave Their Guns Alone

(AllHipHop News) The March For Our Lives in Washington went down yesterday, with tens of thousands of students rallying in support of stricter laws regarding gun ownership.

Rappers like Common, Vic Mensa, Kanye West and even Snoop Dogg rallied in support of the idea.

However, two well-known rap stars took an opposite stance as the marches took place.

Run The Jewels group member Killer Mike dropped a PSA with the NRA supporting gun ownership.

In fact, in a segment titled “The March to Less Freedom,” Killer Mike told NRA TV that he actually made his daughter undergo firearms training, after a 2017 shooting at Savannah State University, where she is a student.

“We are a gun-owning family. We are a family where my sister farms,” Killer Mike said. “We are a family where we’ll fish, we’ll hunt, but we are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does because some stuff we just do not agree with.”

DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia echoed Killer Mike’s concerns, however, Paul seemed more ready for the apocalypse than another school shooting.

The Oscar Award winning artist referenced an old episode of 20/20 which aired in 2007.

In the segment, a guest predicted America would run out of money for homeland security within 20 years.

“They just need to be more safer in who they giving these motherf##kers too,” DJ Paul said. “But we need assault rifles, cause it’s some s##t about to go down here. They better keep them f##king assault rifles out here cause it’s all we gonna have to use to protect ourselves from them other f##king countries.”

Like DJ Paul, Killer Mike also envisioned a bad future for the United States and African Americans in particular, if stricter rules are placed upon the Second Amendment, which gives Americans the Constitutional right to bear arms.

“You’re gonna progress us into slavery. People say slavery can’t exist. Slavery does exist now,” Killer Mike predicted. “Slavery exists, according to the 13th Amendment. The same people who are telling you we need to abolish the Second Amendment, they ain’t there for the documentary ’13th.’ They aren’t there to march to end that.”

Meanwhile, students at the March For Our Lives had a message for the NRA and their supporters.

OH NO! Offset And Cardi B Have More Relationship & Baby Drama!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Offset and Cardi B have had more up and downs than a Great Adventures roller coaster! Damn! I thought they were in the clear, but today, the hammer DROPPED HEAVY!

The chick Xo Celina is back with a vengeance and has had her baby.

Now, before I continue, I have to say something. I thought this XO chick was a big deal but she has less Twitter followers than me and I ain’t tweeted in YEARS! She also just got on Twitter a couple years ago. All this drama and only a few thousand followers? OK. Anyway, it just seems like a mess. I think Cardi B is a cool chick. Hoping she is ok. Drama is drama is drama. Check out the tweets.

What say you?

IS Blac Youngsta In Trouble With The Law Again?

(AllHipHop Rumors) There is a rumor in circulation that suggests strongly that Blac Youngsta has been arrested. Again. Remember, homie has an open case related to a shooting with Young Dolph. Remember that? Blac Youngsta is so funny too. Anyway, the dude is facing some time in jail – six counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property and one count of felony conspiracy. Remember, Young Dolph and those 100 rounds shot at him? Yep. Anyway, sources say a few hours ago, word got out that Blac and some of the homies were arrested. In Ohio, they are saying that guns were found. There is not much out there, but this is a strong rumor and there seems to be a lot of guns found.

Why do these guys want to get in trouble as opposed to chill with chicks and smoke their stuff?

I mean, Blac is just goofy a lot of the time.

And he has money.

Chicago Heavies Attend The March For Life

(AllHipHop Rumors) No rumors here. I just wanted to note that the Chicago greats were there today to support the youth rallying against gun violence. Vic Mensa performed and his OGs were there in solidarity. Common and Kanye. Kim Kardashian wasn’t too far away either, of course. What shocked me was that Dennis Rodman was there too and I automatically thought of the hair situation. But this is not about hair. Chicago has had issues with gun violence for a very, very, very long time. I am not sure what I think about the movement, considering Stephon Clark is in the dirt. Remember, police also perpetrate gun violence just about every day.

If yall dont leave Yeezy alone! LOL!

Rick Ross Asks Court For Help Controlling His Ex’s Wild Online Rants

(AllHipHop News) Rick Ross is looking to shut down his ex’s social media accounts to prevent her from calling him out online, over child support issues.

Tia Kemp is well known for dissing Rozay, whether it’s siding with his enemies like 50 Cent, writing a book, or going directly to social media to call out “The Bawse.”

Rick, born William Leonard Roberts II, recently filed court documents seeking to have Tia’s social media accounts suspended.

Tia recently took Ross to court, in an attempt to secure more child support from the rapper. As the case drags on Tia, has done her share of dragging the rapper on the Internet.

She recently claimed Rick Ross is still neglecting his son, while failing to live up to various obligations and even missed his son’s birthday.

“It hurts me to see my child hurt. Can you imagine having a celeb father, and when he’s in town, he goes all these other places, but can’t come to one of your football games? It’s sad.” said Kemp.

In the latest filing, Rick Ross accused Tia of being a moocher who is “upset that [Ross] will not cede to her financial demands so that she can live off of child support rather than obtain employment.”

The Florida rap star is asking the judge to make Tia hire a third-party to review all of her social media posts before they are made public, to ensure she cannot do any more damage to his reputation.

Amber Rose Still Loves The Smell Of 21 Savage’s Crotch!

By: Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) Amber Rose has never been shy about her dating life. The bald diva was once introduced to the music industry through her relationship with Kanye West.

Since her split from West, Amber Rose has been able to hold her own in the ever-changing environment. Rose would become a model, event host, talk show host, and even community organizer.

Her annual “S### Walk” has become a yearly big deal amongst women throughout the nation. That shows you the power that charisma and vision can bring a person.

Amber Rose was once married to Wiz Khalifa and recently broke up with rapper 21 Savage.

Recently Amber Rose was a guest on Big Boy’s Neighborhood and was asked about her recent split with 21. Amber didn’t avoid the questions and was more than open when speaking about her relationship with 21 Savage.

Birdman and Mannie Fresh’s Return With “Designer Caskets”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbRJjG2m-4g&feature=youtu.be

(AllHipHop Music) Birdman and Mannie Fresh are together again. “I send them back in a designer casket, wrapped in plastic,” is the mantra on the latest audio treat from the Big Tymers. The song, “Designer Caskets,” is the most recent song from the Cash Money founding members and its pretty litty. And, while he is almost married, Birdman’s bragging is intact! “I f### these hoes after our shows / Big d####, we slang / Rich Gang, wartime, let us bang,” he boasts.

AYE! Somebody Check Up On Bow Wow!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Listen. Lets just keep it a buck. If you are 17 or 19, Lil Bow Wow is a legend and you may call him “Shad” these days. If you are of a certain age, he’s that child rapper. And, lets continue to be real, dude has told lie after like and just done some strange things. Check this for a reminder.

And who can forget when he pretended to be on a private jet? BUT, Bow Wow even recently got punched while being surrounded by security. Can these L’s get any lower? Yeah. It’s pretty sad when culture vultures are creating vidoes of your legacy of L’s.

But that is all water under the bridge when you get this kid that seems to be crying for help. Now, Shad is 31 so he is no longer a baby. But that does not mean he cannot cry out for help. Peep what he just put on his instagram?

I hope homie ain’t suicidal like Sean Kingston! The issue is, people are still doing THE MOST on social media and not in the privacy of their own home. Get counseling brother, and don’t talk about it until you are well.

I would be negligent if I didn’t say this could be a PR stunt since he has a project on the way. Meanwhile I am still waiting on Black Thought to do a solo opus. OG sh*t.

Suge Knight P##### After 15th Lawyer Quits His Upcoming Murder Trial

(AllHipHop News) Suge Knight’s bid for freedom has been delayed again since the rapper needs a new lawyer to represent him.

Suge is looking at murder and attempted murder charges for running over Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan during a fight at a burger stand in Los Angeles in January of 2015.

Carter was killed from his wounds, while Cle “Bone” Sloan sustained critical injuries.

Yesterday (March 23rd) during a hearing, Suge’s trial was pushed back again, after his 15th lawyer, Dominique Banos, abruptly resigned, citing a conflict of interest.

A judge elected to push back the trial again, which was due to start on April 9th.

Suge, who has been imprisoned for over three years, seems to be irritated over the drama engulfing his trial.

In addition to suffering multiple strokes while being locked up, his ex-fiance was hit with a three-year prison sentence for leaking a video of the crime scene.

And, more recently two of Suge’s attorneys were arrested and indicted for bribing witnesses, while producers for a BET series received grand jury subpoenas just for interviewing the fallen mogul.

“My case is a real simple case. Either I did something or I didn’t. Either they had firearms or they didn’t,” Suge told the court.

DMX Labeled A “One Man Crime Spree” Who Should Be Thrown In Prison

(AllHipHop News) Rapper DMX ruined a plea agreement when he failed several drug tests, and now the indiscretions will cost him his freedom.

Prosecutors want X, born Earl Simmons, to serve the maximum sentence of five years in prison in his tax evasion case.

The IRS is prosecuting the rap star for purposely hiding $1.7 million dollars in wages, from the years 2011-2013.

In August of 2017, DMX was placed under house arrest and shipped to rehab, after reportedly failing four drug tests and going to St Louis, Missouri without informing officials.

In October of 2017, a judge finally granted DMX a leave from the rehabilitation program to perform accompanied by a 24-hour sobriety coach.

By January of 2018, the rapper was ordered to be held without bail, after testing positive for opioids, cocaine, and oxycodone.

“In short, the defendant has been on a one-man crime spree for the past 30 years,” prosecutors said in his latest hearing.

The rapper, born Earl Simmons, will learn his fate when he is sentenced on March 28th.

Hold Up… Steph Curry Still Hopes To Purchase The Panthers!

By: Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) Stephen Curry was part of an ownership group that was planning to purchase the Carolina Panthers. However, the group recently pulled their bid after the price of the team rose to $2.5 Billion.

The purchasing price for the NFL franchise would set a record for a United States professional sports franchise. A price that billionaire head of the ownership group, Michael Rubin, thought was too pricey.

Word has it that Stephen Curry is still interested in buying the team since he is a Carolina native and a Carolina Panthers fanatic.

He frequents their games, training camp sessions and has developed a friendship with the teams star quarterback Cam Newton. Curry was even Carolina’s “Keep Pounding” drummer during their Super Bowl 50 loss to the Denver Broncos.

“Not a distraction, but definitely something I’m working on,” Steph reportedly said during a practice session earlier this week.

The move could be a bright one for both Curry and the organization.

Only time will show how the deal plays out, but Steph Curry is definitely hard at work attempting to make it happen.

#BlackLivesMatter: We Had #Enough A Long Time Ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZPwAjgiuR0

By Chandra G. Pitts

(AllHipHop Rumors) Waking up this morning in our nation’s capital… I got here late last night with a splitting headache. I’ve been here many times before… marching for our lives. But this time looks very different. From the moment I walked in the packed hotel lobby… Very different. I’m inspired to write. That last sentence ended long ago, several minutes at least. Not because I don’t know what to say but I got stuck in the time warp. The fact that there’s still so many so fiercely committed to live as three America’s.

Why are you marching today? Why are you not? Is this your first student led march against gun violence that you’re joining?

Be honest. I really want to know.

A February shooting in Florida in 2013… That’s when I first took the opportunity to march for justice against gun violence. A mother’s heart was “ripped in half” (her tearful words) at the shooting and cold blooded murder of her 17 year old son. This was a tragedy. The gunman, proudly admitted, standing there at the scene, gun in hand, was left by responding police to “go home”. Not even arrested or taken in for questioning. This was the second tragedy. Then there was the acquittal. “Not guilty.” One white gunman. One white judge. A unanimous vote from six white women jurors. And one innocent teenage student dead. An American child. Black. And this is where the greatest tragedy. The greatest pain. So bad, so deep, that it’s almost numbing. RIP Trayvon Martin.

This is the tragedy of America.

That year, THOUSANDS of families were ripped apart, devastated and shattered by gun violence claiming the lives of hundreds of children in cities across this country. Our children. American children. That was five years ago. But the same pain of injustice is still being felt deeply today, as I prepare to leave my hotel room, walk through the packed hotel lobby and into the streets leading to the capitol in a rush of tens of thousands. Five years later, a life altering day in February. More children fall from gun violence. But this is no February 2013 or any day of gun violence after. This is not just a tragedy that rips mother’s heart in half or brings a grown man to his knees in hysterical tears. It’s not just one community calling for justice. These American children were white.

This – is a full blown American Tragedy.

‘Time’ Magazine cover worthy… Like the courageous young student activists who rose up, organized and responded with a national movement that’s continued in the face of gun violence in cities like Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Wilmington, Parkland students raised their voice. And this time, America listened. Interviews on every single major talk show. Headlines in all the media outlets big and small. Schools across the country actually let students and teachers out of school to honor these 17 kids who were killed. How on earth do you think that made the other thousands feel who’ve had fellow classmates and community members gunned down every week in our cities? Even politicians are taking the stage to speak out, as they should have long ago! Which reminds me, I’ve never heard a more powerful and moving political speech in response to children dying from gun violence as when President Obama’s address on Sandy Hook. I was so moved. It never occurred to me to shut it out because the shooting victims he was talking about, the tearful mothers and the painful faces of fathers in the audience were white. I cried too. My heart hurt for those children and their families.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BgohFHahhlV/

I wanted justice.

Someone help me understand how any human woman (six at that!), man, judge, politician, talk show host, or police officer can turn their humanity off?? Devalue a human life, a child at that, simply because of the color of their skin?? Criminalize the very victims. Demoralize their families. And oppress entire races of people by stripping us of our justice. I know! I know the history of America: the indigenous land murderously overtaken at gunpoint; built on gun violence; and the stark color lines that “make America great”. But I’m talking about the individual people; fellow human beings. Today. In 2018…

What if we all united beyond colorlines to demand justice for ALL??

Today no one questions the school discipline record of those killed or cares how many of those kids ever shoplifted. No one says of those victims who lost their lives, “he was no angel”, “they must have done something to deserve it”, they should have just been more respectful” or “I thought it was a gun”. And I haven’t seen a slew of counter campaigns saying “yea we know students lives matter but our lives matter too” or “what difference is a march going to make”. This tragedy mobilized America.

And today we march.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bgq3yv9Djsg/

After all the devastation that we’ve seen displayed most horrifically through gun violence in communities throughout the country, “America” is finally saying #ENOUGH. Organized by what’s being called the “Women’s” March, interestingly enough, youth, parents and community members in cities across America will unite in a call for justice.

I can see the capital building just outside my hotel window. Streets were blocked off already by the time I awoke. I now sit in the lobby as I finish compiling my thoughts over breakfast. The surrounding area is bustling with families, individuals of all ages, pacing restlessly with their protest signs. And across from me, chatting carelessly and laughing with a couple of the men here to march sit a small group of police officers.

I notice that they did not wear their military gear today. I pray all goes well. Today, I march for the thousands of children who have lost their lives in Wilmington, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Ferguson, Chicago, Los Angeles, DC and New Jersey – cities that I’ve marched in, worked in, advocated in and whose pain I am personally connected with. How powerful would it be to bring all these movements for justice together? Today I march to end the gun violence in our cities. I march that we will cross color and gender lines and unite on the line of humanity. I march for justice.

Today I march for Stephon, Eric, Michael, Trayvon, Shaun, Sandra, Jeremy, Jerame, The Africa Family, Amadou, Patrick, Ousmane, Timothy, Sean, Bobby, Lamar, Que, Oscar, Aiyana, Ramarley, Rekia. We have had ENOUGH before it was a hot media commodity. And yes. We still have to say it. #BlackLivesMatter #MarchForOurLives #Enough
