Drake Didn’t Deliberately ‘Steal’ Artwork From Dj’s Tour Poster

(AllHipHop News) Drake reportedly didn’t deliberately copy the cover art for his new single from a DJ’s tour poster.

The Canadian hip-hop star released two songs on Friday under the title “Scary Hours.”

On Instagram, electronica musician Rabit pointed out similarities between the single cover and the poster for his 2015 Communion tour, designed by artist Collin Fletcher.

Both designs feature vertical Gothic text superimposed on bold text in a less elaborate font.

A music source said the cover art wasn’t deliberately copied from the poster, as staff at Drake’s OVO Sound record label picked the design from a selection they were presented with.

“OVO didn’t source this artwork, they were presented it – it’s common to be presented with a whole pile of work to choose from that is referenced off older art,” the insider explained, adding that the practice had not caused problems before.

Pointing out the similarities between the design and his tour poster, Rabit wrote on Instagram:

“Today I wake up to see OVO (Sound, Drake’s own label) has redone one of my 2015 tour posters designed by @collindfletcher for Drake’s new single. Poor Collin is always having his style stolen.”

In a statement to Pitchfork Media, Collin said he hoped the controversy over the similarities between the designs sparked a “larger conversation about popular culture’s relationship to underground artists.”

Representatives of Rabit’s label, Tri Angle Records wrote on Twitter that they hoped the dispute had a positive outcome by bringing Collin’s work to the attention of more fans.

“Not gonna get bogged down in ‘certain negativity’,” they wrote. “Would rather shine a light on how good of a designer Collin Fletcher is.”

“Scary Hours” features two tracks, titled “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity.”

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Stage Dive Goes Terribly Wrong!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcgXqrj_Ymc

By Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) KeKe” Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine had a keke moment at a recent show. The incident may not be funny to him, but it has the internet thriving from the laughs.

You see, the rapper had a performance recently and was feeling the crowd’s energy. No really. He was feeling the buzz from the audience enjoying his energetic performance.

The rapper was having a good time and finally found a comfortable space in his whirlwind life. Tekashi 6ix9ine decided that he would like to interact more with his fans after their love.

That’s quite commendable of the rapper. There’s nothing wrong with showing love to those who love you.

Feeling the love, Tekashi leaped from the stage expecting to continue feeling the love and admiration of his fans.

That’s the exact moment when Tekashi 6ix9ine finally connected mentally with Drake and understood the lyrics to his “Fake Love” song. Because none of his fans reached out to catch the rapper and the even all moved out the way to avoid him.

Indeed in this moment his fans showed fake love straight up to his face. The music industry is a tough place, but it’s easier to deal with when your fans like you.

However, that tough place becomes a tough reality when your fans show you they aren’t really there for you like you thought.

I’m sure 6ix9ine would have rather them show this fake love by not buying his music, but this was just cruel.

Tekashi 6ix9ine will more than likely bounce back and continue performing. I’m sure after this incident he’ll think twice before attempting a stage dive again.

How do you feel about Tekashi 6ix9ine’s fans not reaching out to catch him?

Patriots’ Super Bowl Champ Martellus Bennett Drops New Mixtape

New England Patriots’ former tight end Martellus Bennett is more than just a Super Bowl champion.

Bennett, who won a coveted Super Bowl ring with The Patriots last season, is an accomplished illustrator and musician.

Off the field, he’s the “Creative Director of Awesomeness” for The Imagination Agency and Martellus has used his artwork to share his perspective surrounding the NFL player protest movement.

He’s also the author of two upcoming books “Hey A.J., It’s Bedtime” and “Dear Black Boy.”

In addition to winning Super Bowl rings and writing books, Martellus Bennett is also an accomplished musician and budding rapper.

Bennett just dropped his latest mixtape, “Polka Dots: The Mixtape,” with help from rap legend Snoop Dogg on the track “Take A Flight.”

“Marty” wrote all 9 songs on “Polka Dots,” which is the follow up to his sixth album, ironically titled “I’m Not a Rapper But Some of My Friends Are.”

AllHipHop.com’s grouchygreg Greg caught up with Martellus Bennett aka “MartysarusRex,” to get a little more info on how he linked with Snoop Dogg, his latest mixtape and his musical ambitions just before his former New England teammates take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52.

grouchygreg Greg: How did you link with Snoop?

Martellus Bennett: I was in L.A. doing some press and I dropped by to do Snoop’s YouTube show GGN Network and whole the crew was giving me a tour. They were like “Snoop is actually in the studio right now, do you wanna go back there?” And of course, I was like “yeah,” walked in and he was working on some music.

When he stopped for a quick break, I was like “we should do a song together.” He kind of laughed it off like “hahaha you funny,” and “I was like nah I’m serious bruh.” He was like “you rap?” I said, “yeah man I got a few bars.” He said “let’s do it then” and we went thru a few beats, picked one, I pulled out my pen and notebook, and [the single] “Take A Flight” was born.

grouchygreg Greg: What was it like recording with Snoop?

“Working with Snoop was easy. He’s a great dude. I was a little nervous because he rapped first and it was smooth as f##k.”

Martellus Bennett: Like butter melting on the instrumental. After he rapped I threw out my first verse and wrote what you hear now. He was dope to work with, I think he was pleasantly surprised, because he came in the booth when I was struggling with my wordplay in one section and said “You got this, you got bars. Which is very true. I do have bars!”

grouchygreg Greg: How long have you been rapping and releasing music?

Martellus Bennett: This is my seventh musical project. I’ll release two or three more this year. I grew up in band playing different instruments and stuff and I’ve always rapped as long as I can remember.

grouchygreg Greg: What makes you different than the other athletes who have dropped mixtapes?

Martellus Bennett: I don’t know. I don’t consider myself a rapper, I just try to express myself and my creativity in as mediums as possible. This is just me creating.

Take a listen to Martellus Bennett’s new mixtape “Polka Dots: The Mixtape” below.

ADL Boss Slams Erykah Badu For ‘Irresponsible’ Hitler Comments

(AllHipHop News) Anti-Defamation League chief Johnathan Greenblatt has called on Erykah Badu to issue an immediate apology for comments she made about Adolf Hitler in an interview.

The “On & On” singer said she sees the “good” in Hitler, the mastermind behind World War Two and the Holocaust, and other controversial figures, such as accused rapist Bill Cosby and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, in a new interview with Vulture, released on Wednesday.

“I saw something good in Hitler…,” she told the publication. “I’m a humanist. I see good in everybody… I know I don’t have the most popular opinion sometimes.”

Anti-Defamation League leader Greenblatt insists the star’s statements are clearly more than a casual opinion and he has slammed Erykah for using her platform to sympathize with one of the greatest villains in history, who orchestrated the largest genocide of all time by exterminating six million Jews.

“Erykah Badu, I read your interview in @Vulture, and I have a few thoughts,” the CEO of the charity, which is the largest Jewish civil rights organization in the world, wrote on his Twitter account.

“I also like to think that there is good in all people,” he added, “but Hitler is pure evil. I don’t care if he painted or was a vegetarian; Hitler is responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews & a war that claimed the lives of tens of millions. Shame on you for downplaying that.”

He also took issue with her support of Farrakhan, who was widely criticized as a homophobe and anti-Semite, and demanded she take responsibility for her dangerous words.

“You are a role model to many, and as such, you should immediately apologize for these irresponsible and misguided comments,” Greenblatt insisted on Twitter.

In response to the controversy surrounding her interview, Erykah took to her own Twitter account and suggested her words had been taken out of context.

“The media is banking on our ignorance. Know we won’t read the whole thing,” she tweeted. “They’ll use controversial quotes w/trigger words as Click Bait. We (love) controversy. So Blogs choose easiest thing to ‘spin’. Get you mad. Help you get a little rage out. They get more adds.”

Maxo Kream Goes In On King Yella Over Fredo Santana Disrespect

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao3nbcI_o_A

By Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) King Yella is making news again. This time for yet another headline regarding him and a potential beef.

This time the situation revolves around recently deceased Rapper Fredo Santana.

King Yella was online recently recording a livestream when another person appeared and said “F*ck Fredo.”

King Yella isn’t the person saying dissing him, but some people weren’t happy about the video being posted at all. One of those people was Maxo Kream.

Maxo Kream was friends with Santana and took offense at the actions.

An upset Maxo Kream would take to social media to air his grievances with King Yella.

“King Yella. You’s a motherf*cking b*tch,” said Maxo Kream. “Y’all couldn’t say it to Fredo face when he was here so talk down when he dead.,” continued Maxo Kream.

King Yella would later get back online and offer his honest opinions about Fredo Santana. In that post he continued to extend his sympathies out to Fredo Santana.

All this honestly is a banal topic. Beefing over the death of loved one’s ultimately results in more death, but is it worth it.

Not really. Trite issues like this ultimately harm the musicians more than the stories of their success help.

Fredo Santana’s passing was unexpected and untimely, but more violence surrounding his name will make it timeworn.

Do you think King Yella was right by posting his original video online?

By Ne’Richa

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTAY_zVKQjU

New Women Say Nelly Sexually Assaulted Them In Detailed Accounts

(AllHipHop News) Two more women have come forward to accuse St. Louis rap star Nelly of sexual assault.

Two women claim they were victimized by the rapper on two different occasions, in an amended complaint filed by a lawyer for Monique Greene.

Monique Greene filed a lawsuit against Nelly on Monday, seeking an injunction against the rapper to stop his abuse of his female fans.

Greene claims she was raped by the rapper on his tour bus last October in Washington.

But the police declined to file charges because Greene said she would not testify against the rap star after her identity was leaked to the press and she was victimized online.

Greene also claimed Nelly was intimidating her through his statements to the press, which led her to her decision not to file charges.

Two new women identified only as Jane Doe and Jane Doe 2, detailed some of Nelly’s alleged bad behavior in the lawsuit.

Jane Doe 1 is a mother who is “happily married” and a member of the U.S. Military who was stationed in the United Kingdom for three years.

Jane Doe 1 said she bought VIP tickets to a Nelly show in the United Kingdom. She met with the rapper backstage, where he invited her to an after-party.

Nelly ushered the woman into a secluded area, where he allegedly accosted the woman, by putting his hand up her skirt, over her objections.

“Jane Doe 1 had no intention of becoming a victim. She was a well trained member of the military. She firmly took Defendant Nelly’s hand, removed it from under her skirt and pushed it back down to the side of his leg,” the lawsuit says.

The other woman in the lawsuit identified as Jane Doe 2 is a mother of three children, who is not married but is in a long-term committed relationship.

The woman, who is also based in the U.K., claims she was assaulted by Nelly after a show at Cliffs Pavilion in Essex England country in December of 2017. That would be just two months after the news of Monique Greene’s original charges hit the press.

Jane Doe 2 said Nelly offered her to come backstage, and she accepted, believing her friends had arranged something special for her birthday.

But things went awry, when Nelly brought the woman into another room, isolated from her friends.

“This time Defendant Nelly closed the door, stood in front of it, and dropped his trousers. Jane Doe 2 told him to pull his trousers up. Defendant Nelly started masturbating and said, ‘you want this d##k don’t you,” according to the complaint.

Jane Doe 2 said she made light of the situation and told Nelly that he picked the wrong woman, but the woman said Nelly became aggressive, put his hands down her shirt and ripped her top off.

Jane Doe 2 told him to pull his trousers up and they “could forget this ever happened.” The woman claims Nelly pulled his pants back up, but a short time later drop them and whipped out his penis again and started masturbating in front of her.

He said he wanted “to come in” her mouth and “all over” her, but Jane Doe 2 continued to evade and refused his advances.

When Nelly put the woman’s hand on his e#### penis, Jane Doe 2 to claims she snapped.

“Who the f##k do you think you are,” Jane Doe 2 told the rapper. That only excited Nelly more according to Jane Doe 2, who says Nelly forced his e#### penis into her mouth.

“Jane Doe 2 jumped back, twisted and fell backwards into the shower curtain. She was able to scramble out of the room. As she exited Defendant Nelly yelled, ‘c###!’” and allegedly warned her he would find her if she went to authorities.

Questlove’s Rep Addresses Racial Discrimination Lawsuit

(AllHipHop News) News broke this week that Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots was named in a $2 million lawsuit over alleged racial discrimination. Cameramen Kurt Decker and Michael Cimino allege Questlove had them fired from NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon because they are white.

Quest is denying any involvement in Decker and Cimino’s dismissal. The musician’s rep told Billboard:

Questlove denies the ridiculous allegations made in this lawsuit. Racism is REAL and exists throughout the world and for these gentlemen to claim victim is not only disrespectful to Questlove and his band mates, but to all that truly endure racism on a daily basis. Simmons has been accused of various forms of sexual aggression by multiple women. He denied previous accusations are accurate, but the 60-year-old All Def Digital founder did step down from his companies in November following a THR article about some of his accusers.

Erykah Badu Responds To Online Backlash Over Her Hitler Comments

(AllHipHop News) Erykah Badu found herself as a trending topic throughout the day on Wednesday. The online chatter was sparked by an interview Badu did with Vulture where she expressed that she could see something good in Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.

The singer took to Twitter to respond to some of the backlash she received for those comments. One tweet was addressed to “Black and Jewish” users on the platform, and another tweet was directed at the press.

“Say what u must. Dialogue is cool. I invite it,” wrote Badu. “But please do me a favor if you can, Black & Jewish Twitter, just don’t use the word ‘problematic’ any more. Y’all using that too much… oh and read the article.”

She later posted, “The media is banking on our ignorance. Know we won’t read the whole thing. They’ll use controversial quotes w/trigger words as Click Bait. We [love] controversy. So Blogs choose easiest thing to ‘spin’. Get you mad. Help you get a little rage out. They get more adds. The message lost.”

UPDATE:

Badu returned to Twitter to offer another statement:

People are in real pain. So I understand why my ‘good’ intent was misconstrued as ‘bad’. In trying to express a point, I used 1 of the worst examples possible, Not to support the cruel actions of an unwell, psychopathic Adolf Hitler, but to only exaggerate a show of compassion.
