DMX Facing Over 40 Years In Prison Over Massive Tax Debt

(AllHipHop News) Rapper DMX is in big trouble with the Internal Revenue Service tax collectors.

IRS officials have charged the “X Gon’ Give It to Ya” hitmaker with 14 counts of tax evasion and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York claims he has concealed his income for years, racking up a $1.7 million debt.

In documents obtained by TMZ, officials have accused DMX, real name Earl Simmons, of using the bank accounts of surrogates instead of his own to keep his once vast earnings under the radar.

In the indictment, prosecutors claim he listed his income in 2011 and 2012 as “unknown” when in reality he’d hauled in over $350,000 and $540,000 , respectively, and in 2013, he reported income of $10,000.

According to the officials, he actually brought in $250,000 that year.

If convicted on all 14 counts, the rap star faces 44 years behind bars.

The embattled hip-hop star recently completed a rehab stint after voluntarily entering a treatment centre in Southern California on April 27.

When the news of his latest rehab stay first hit the headlines, the rapper’s manager Pat Gallo confirmed the star would be taking time off to “focus on his health so that he can be a better father, friend and entertainer.”

Gallo added, “We are eternally grateful for the outpouring of concern and support that has poured in. We ask that you please keep X in your prayers as he embraces your support.”

Blac Chyna’s Ex Claims She Bullied Him To The Point Of Attempted Suicide!

(AllHipHop Rumors) While Angela Renee Kardashian aka Blac Chyna is with all the sh-ts and stunts, she may have a match in one of her exes!

Blac Chyna’s ex, Pilot Jones, says he wants another 15 minutes of fame too. According to Jones, he doesn’t see how Blac Chyna is going in on Rob as he claims she once did the same things to him.

I would like to believe that Chyna never even dated this man, but judging by the other men she allegedly cheated on Rob Kardashian with, he fits her [strange] type.

Pilot Jones accuses Blac Chyna of ruining his life after their breakup when she posted his phone number online.

Jones claims he began receiving a significant amount of death threats. He also goes on to say that he had to move out of L.A. because it got so bad.

Pilot says that when Blac Chyna outed him as bisexual, the situation became so bad that he attempted suicide.

Apparently the only reason Pilot made it through is because he became a Buddhist.

Bullying and mental health issues along with suicide are no joking manner, but most don’t believe anything Pilot Jones has to say. It seems like he’s just trying to get in on the Rob and Chyna controversy!

Isn’t this the same dude that claimed he was Dream’s father until Dream came out looking JUST LIKE Rob Kardashian?! Idk man; IDK.

Chance The Rapper Hints At Helping SoundCloud Following Reports The Streaming Service Faces Financial Troubles

(AllHipHop News) Chance The Rapper is one of the most high-profile celebrity endorsers of SoundCloud.

The Chicago emcee provided his critically acclaimed Coloring Book project on the service for free, and he gave a shout out to SoundCloud during his Grammy Award acceptance speech in February.

So it comes as no surprise that Chance is apparently looking to help the company fend off the possibility of having to shut down.

“I’m working on the SoundCloud thing,” tweeted the “Blessings” performer on Thursday afternoon.

The message came after reports SoundCloud only has enough funds to make it through the fourth quarter of 2017, which is approximately 80 days from now.

Chance did not provide specific details on what he plans to do to help the Berlin-based streaming platform.

However, SoundCloud has issued a statement to Variety that reads in part:

Due to the extensive number of inaccuracies, we will only comment regarding funding and layoffs. To clarify, SoundCloud is fully funded into the fourth quarter. We continue to be confident the changes made last week put us on our path to profitability and ensure SoundCloud’s long-term viability. In terms of layoffs, it is our policy not to discuss individual employee cases, but we can share we continue to work with all employees who were let go to support them during this transition, with employment and financial assistance.

AllHipHop.com reached out to representatives of SoundCloud for further comment.

As of press time, we have not received a response from the company.

Are Lil Durk & Dej Loaf Back Together?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Issa couple again?!

It looks like Durk & Dej may be back on. Lil Durk took to his Instagram to share a picture of him and Dej Loaf with a caption that expressed his feelings for her.

“Ill kill for her so be cautious how you treat her,” posted Lil Durk.

We hadn’t heard too much from them in a while, and both had claimed that they were single a little while back. Last month an old collaboration between the two former love birds surfaced called “The One”. The track seemed to hint that either they were still working together or some fans wanted to reminisce on the good times.

People found it hard to believe that Lil Durk and Dej Loaf were ever a real couple to begin with as folks believed it was one big publicity stunt to promote their music separately as well as their various collaborations. Also no one believed it because many believe that Dej likes girls.

Well either Durk and Dej are back on, or it’s another a publicity stunt. Carry on.

Attack of the Bad and Bougie: The Lynching of Dr. Umar and Black Nationalism

“Call up the gang and they come and get cha…” – Bad and Boujee- Migos

(AllHipHop Editorial) Professor Afrika Jackson had just finished a two hour lecture in front of a packed house discussing how African American parents could prevent their sons from dropping out of high school when someone handed him a strange note warning that “they “ were out front waiting for him. Fearing that he was surrounded by the KKK or the Skinheads, Professor Jackson, cautiously headed for the auditorium door. But when he got to the parking lot he didn’t find Neo Nazis, just a bunch of bougie black folk in throwback Gordon Gartrell shirts and Ascots yellin’ “ Go Back to Africa…”

Recently, popular lecturer and black youth advocate Dr. Umar Johnson, made an appearance on The Breakfast Club Morning Show. In an era when the airwaves are filled with either violent or barely decipherable lyrics , you would think that a black man droppin’ knowledge on a Hip Hop radio station would be a breath of fresh air..

Nope.

By the time Dr. Umar had even left the studio, the attacks had begun. The first shot was fired by the Root.com , as the site launched a vicious attack on Dr. Umar’s credibility. Next came the now infamous triple team on Roland Martin’s show on TV One. And that was followed by , yet another attempt by The Root to throw shade at the good doctor. Looks like the “Bad and Bougie” have declared war.

Now, don’t get it twisted. I am not a cheerleader for #TeamUmar. But I am a strong proponent of Black Nationalism and I refuse to let an ideology that has meant so much to so many be disrespected under the guise of a petty, personal attack on an individual.

Historically speaking, the attack on Black Nationalism did not start with Umar Johnson, it goes back almost a hundred years.

During the early 20th century, the Honorable Marcus Garvey was attacked by WEB Dubois and his Talented Tenth team. Members of this squad started a “Garvey Must Go” campaign which contributed to the fall of Mr. Garvey and his Universal Negro Improvement Association.

The attack on Black Nationalism was peppered with black classism , which, besides the works of Dr. E. Franklin Frazier (Black Bourgeoisie ) and Harold Cruse (Crisis of the Negro Intellectual) has been rarely discussed in the black community.

There was even some serious hatin’ going on during the Black Power Era. This is best exemplified by the treatment of the militant “Abdullah” by “Daddy Rich (Richard Pryor) and the Wilson Sisters (Pointer Sisters) in the 70’s movie Car Wash as they danced around him bashin’ his revolutionary ideology.

However, in recent years the cries of a more white liberal friendly Black Lives Matter have replaced calls for Black Power in the media, And as aging civil rights leaders such as Rev.Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton no longer dominate the news shows, there has been a mad scramble to be the new spokespersons for all black folk or as the older generation would say “ the new HNIC.”

In the past, it has been pretty easy for the pseudo-revolutionists to have a monopoly on the media and sell their white corporate sponsors on the idea they are the authentic voice of African Americans. They have served as gatekeepers, blocking anyone with, as Dr. Umar would say, an “unapologetically black” ideology from reaching the masses. But thanks to Youtube, Facebook and other social media platforms, the playing field has become somewhat level. Examples of this are the popularity of YouTube Channels such as BlackNews102 and the blockbuster-like success of Tariq Nasheed’s Hidden Colors series , which owes much of it’s popularity to social media promotion.

So, as we see with the attack on Umar Johnson, the Bad and Bougie have been engaged in an uncivil , civil war against those who they, non-flatteringly, refer to as “Hoteps” or “Dashiki wearers.”

But what the attack on Dr. Umar has done is unify the Black Nationalist community in ways not seen since the Million Man March. Even those who have not exactly been fans of Johnson are taking exception to the blatant attack on a Pro-Black ideology. Looks like the Bad and Bougie have told one ankh joke too many.

So, don’t worry about it Dr. Umar we are ridin’ with ya. As the rap group Migos might say, you keep throwin’ up the Black Power fist and “dabbin’ on them like the usual.”

Is Meek Mill Trying To Shoot His Shot At Drake’s Ex?

(AllHipHop Rumors) “Someone tell Maliah I’m on fire; she should work tonight.” LOL.

It looks like Meek Mill has been caught lurking on the ‘gram once again. The irony is the fact that he appears to be lusting over his enemy Drake’s ex, stripper Maliah Michel.

Maliah is also close to Meek’s other enemy, The Game, so a fling between the two may never happen. Hey maybe a friendship though because those bills have to get paid. LOL.

Meek wasn’t worried about keeping his attraction to Maliah on the low as he used Yo Gotti’s “Rake It Up” lyrics to shoot his shot!

Although the song is a smash, it is a bit ironic that Meek would be caught quoting and “singing along” considering the fact that his ex, Nicki Minaj, is featured on the track!

“Break it down back it up,” posted Meek.

Awwww Meek we know you still miss Nicki also. LOL. Carry on.

Did This Notorious Troll Spend $10K On Jay-Z Tickets?

(AllHipHop Rumors) When will Martin Shkreli disappear?

As you know Shkreli is the same guy who not only bought a Wu-Tang album for $2 million, but he’s also the same guy who has been leaking Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter V’ album as well.

He’s also the same individual who significantly increased the price of AIDS medication.

He’s quite the attention w####, so it’s to no one’s surprise that he allegedly may have spent $10,000 on Jay-Z tickets before.

Why couldn’t he be a cool Hip Hop fan instead of a troll?! Apparently not only did he allegedly spend $10k on tickets, he allegedly took the money from his company, Retrophin.

According to Bossip, court records show Shkreli spending the stacks from Retrophin’s funds on Hov tickets during a period where the company barely had that much to their name.

Apparently later on, Shkreli also allegedly transferred over $1 million from the same company to his personal account.

This guy is such a fraud man. FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD. Remember his financial records already had to be reviewed in the past during his fraud trial.

Whose manz is this? Please get him out of here! We are sure he’s happy that he’s found his way into more rap-related headlines though, since he’s always craving that attention.

Carry on.

SoundCloud Reportedly Only Has Enough Money To Survive For About 80 Days

(AllHipHop News) There seems to be a troubling financial situation taking place with SoundCloud.

The streaming service recently laid off 40% of its workforce, but things may be even more critical for its staff and users.

TechCrunch reports a conference meeting from SoundCloud’s Berlin headquarters included founders Alex Ljung and Eric Wahlforss admitting the company only has enough money to make it until the fourth quarter 2017.

A SoundCloud representative told the technology news outlet, “We are fully funded into Q4.”

That reportedly only leaves enough funds for about the next 80 days, but there are apparently talks underway with potential investors.

Reports began circulating in March that SoundCloud raised $70 million in debt funding credit.

“We are pleased to have secured a flexible $70 million credit line from Ares Capital, Kreos Capital and Davidson Technology that is ideally structured for a company with our strong credit rating and in our stage of growth,” said SC in a statement at the time. “This new funding will enable SoundCloud to strategically grow our technology and personnel resources to fuel our expected 2.5 times year-over-year growth in 2017, while building a financially sustainable platform on which our connected community of creators, listeners and curators can thrive for years to come.”

A mid-priced SoundCloud subscription plan ($4.99/month) was rolled out in February.

“SoundCloud Go answers the call from our users who want the ability to take the huge catalog of content found in SoundCloud’s free, ad-supported offering with them anytime, anywhere, without interruptions, at a very affordable price,” stated Alison Moore, SoundCloud’s Chief Revenue Officer. “And at the same time, we’re now giving users who haven’t made the jump into a music subscription plan, a robust, fully on-demand option at an accessible price.”

SoundCloud has become a valuable platform for this generation’s Hip Hop artists.

Its current Top 50 songs chart is dominated by Lil Pump, PnB Rock, Lil Uzi Vert, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, XXXtentacion, Playboi Carti, Tee Grizzley, Kodak Black, and Post Malone.

In 2016, Chance The Rapper’s Coloring Book was named SoundCloud’s “Top Album”, “Favorite Track” was awarded to Desiigner’s “Panda,” and Lil Uzi Vert earned the honor for “Most Followed Artist.”

Popular Hip Hop centered podcasts like The ReadThe Brilliant Idiots, The Joe Budden Podcast, Bodega Boys, and The Combat Jack Show also upload content to SoundCloud.

UPDATE:

TechCrunch has corrected its article to state SoundCloud is currently funded through 80 days, not 50 days.

AllHipHop.com has updated this article to reflect that correction.

In addition, SoundCloud issued a statement to Variety that reads:

There are a number of inaccuracies within the TechCrunch article. They seem to stem from a misinterpretation of information by one or two laid off employees during a recent all hands meeting.

Selena Gomez released her new single, and “Fetish” includes an appearance by Gucci Mane.

The Southern rap legend uses his verse on the record to rhyme about a hard-to-get woman.

Recent months have seen the arrival of Gucci Mane collaborations with several music acts outside of Hip Hop.

Previously, Gomez united with Harlem rap star A$AP Rocky on her 2015 song “Good for You.”

Hot 97 caught up with the “Door Swangin” rhymer who revealed he is working on a collection featuring contributions from production wiz Statik Selektah and Hip Hop legend Q-Tip.

“The next project is going to be solid as well. It’s gonna be conceptual,” stated Chainz.

Mike Will Made-It Breaks Down How He & Rae Sremmurd Helped Create Beyonce’s “Formation” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) A lot of fans probably know Mike Will Made-It co-produced Beyoncé’s Lemonade hit “Formation.”

There’s likely less public knowledge that Rae Sremmurd‘s Khalif Swae Lee” Brown is credited as a co-writer for the song.

Mike Will Made-It explained how the award-winning record came together during a “What Had Happened Was” interview with Pigeons & Planes.

“We were driving to Coachella, and I’m playing beats in the car. We’re just in there freestyling, throwing different things back-and-forth at each other,” recalled the Atlanta native. “I hear Swae Lee say, ‘Something, something. Now let’s get in formation.'”

They documented the line and other ideas on a phone voice note before recording them in the studio.

Mike Will Made-It sent that raw studio recording to Beyoncé who later told the EarDrummers leader she liked the concept.

Bey and Mike eventually connected to record “Formation.”

“We were in the studio. She asked me if I hear anything, and I’m telling her different ab-libs that I hear. She’s telling me different things that she hears in the beat,” explained the Ransom 2 creator. “The process was like gumbo. Everybody’s in there just adding their own ingredients.”
