Taylor Bennett Partners With Urban Outfitters For LGBTQ Pride Collection

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year, Hip Hop artist Taylor Bennett announced on Twitter that he identifies as bisexual.

Chance The Rapper’s younger brother has now teamed up with Urban Outfitters to help foster pride in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning community.

All proceeds from the 7-piece UO Pride collection will benefit the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), an organization dedicated to supporting the safety of LGBTQ students in schools across the country.

“I think we’re now starting to see a bigger wave of people wanting to stand together as a group and say ‘This is what I believe.’ We’re at the point now where you can do your thing and you can be accepted,” Taylor told Billboard. “If someone doesn’t want to accept you, then – pardon my language – f-ck ‘em. You’ve got to be yourself 24/7.”

LGBTQ rights are not the only social issues Bennett has championed as a public figure.

The Restoration Of An American Idol EP creator has also been working to combat youth homelessness in his hometown of Chicago.

“We’re working with La Casa Norte which is a shelter in Chicago. Homeless youth is a really big problem. When people think about homelessness, they don’t think about kids. Usually, they think about adults,” said Bennett in an AllHipHop.com interview in February.

He added, “But in fact, homelessness with kids is a huge epidemic, especially in Chicago. So I’ve been doing a lot of work to try to bring the city together and to make something happen.

Dynesti tackles the subjects of suicide, depression and overall mental health as a reported death from suicide occurring roughly ever 30 seconds. (AllHipHop News) Even though Trapsoul would go on to be certified platinum, Bryson Tiller’s breakout 2015 album only collected around 22,000 units sold in its first week of release.

The follow-up to the rapper-singer’s first LP is on pace to have a much larger initial week showing.

HitsDailyDouble crunched the numbers, and Tiller’s True To Self is looking to open in the range of 110,000 – 130,000 sales plus streaming units with 40,000 – 50,000 pure album sales.

Those numbers could likely give the artist also known as Pen Griffey his first #1 album of his career (Trapsoul peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart).

The other major release from last week is Lil Yachty’s Teenage Emotions.

According to HDD, the 19-year-old rhymer’s debut studio album is expected to come out the gate with around 55,000 – 60,000 SPS units with 19,000 – 22,000 pure album sales.

Gucci Mane Talks Recording ‘DropTopWop’ Project With Metro Boomin

(AllHipHop News) Gucci Mane celebrated the one-year anniversary of his release from prison by releasing DropTopWop on May 26.

The 10-track project was a joint effort with production wiz Metro Boomin.

While speaking with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Gucci reflected on partnering with the beat maker for DropTopWop.

“I’m just proud of Metro, to be honest,” said Gucci.

The Trap God explained how he first met Young Metro as a teenage producer that was hoping to get some bars from him.

“He would come to the studio and I’d kick it with him. But I’d never rap on his beats. He’d be like, ‘Gucci, why you never rap on my beats?'” stated Guwop. “So to see what he’s doing now… every time he pulls something up it makes me wanna rap, it makes me wanna record.”

Gucci added, “We did twelve songs in two days. The only reason we didn’t do more songs is because Metro fell asleep.”

The conversation with Lowe also included the southern rap legend talking about his life since exiting prison, his upcoming wedding with Keyshia Ka’oir, and his forthcoming book The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.

(AllHipHop News) 2 Chainz called on some big names to appear on his forthcoming album titled Pretty Girls Like Trap Music.

The veteran rapper revealed the tracklist for PGLTM on his Instagram page, and the project has no shortage of guest stars.

Fellow Atlanta natives Gucci Mane, Migos, and Monica made the cut.

In addition, Chainz tapped Young Money’s Drake and Nicki Minaj as well as hitmakers Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, Trey Songz, Pharrell, Jhené Aiko, and Swae Lee.

2 Chainz was asked about collaborating with other acts during a recent appearance on The View.

“I’m easy going, I’m very transparent, and I’m professional. I show up to work on time. I do what I’m supposed to do, and people like working with me,” replied the Def Jam recording artist. “I’m [a] fan of people still. I enjoy listening to new music every week. I enjoy learning new things every week. So I think it’s just a mutual thing with me.”

Pretty Girls Like Trap Music is scheduled for release on June 16.

Chance The Rapper Discusses Whether He Ever Plans To Run For Public Office

(AllHipHop News) With his participation in voter registration campaigns, support of public education, and close ties to Barack Obama, observers of Chance The Rapper have wondered if the Chicago rhymer would ever decide to run for office.

That discussion came up during Chance’s cover story for Ebony magazine.

The publication even ran a headline that reads, “Chance the Rapper for President.”

However, politics does not seem to be a future career choice for the Coloring Book creator.

“I would never run for any office or government position,” said Chance. “I’m not into it. I think politics is a reason why a lot of stuff doesn’t get done.”

He continued, “There’s a lot of favors, and a lot of people are held back by their intentions of being re-elected or the things that they owe their party or constituents. I think when you’re in my position as an artist, I can say what I want and talk about the issues that matter.”

Schoolboy Q Hints New Album Could Arrive After SZA’s ‘CTRL’ (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Last week the music world found out singer-songwriter SZA is dropping her debut studio album on June 9.

That will be the second LP released this year from the Top Dawg Entertainment camp, and it appears another project from the label will be following closely after SZA’s CTRL.

During an appearance at Ab-Soul’s “YMF Tour” stop in Los Angeles, TDE artist Schoolboy Q informed the crowd his next body of work could be coming soon.

“I just might have my album for y’all after SZA,” said Q.

Previously, the Black Hippy member posted an Instagram message suggesting he would release the follow-up to 2016’s Blank Face LP sometime this year.

(AllHipHop Rumors) Jenny From The Block has shown that she definitely has a bit of petty and humor still left in her.

A snippet of one of Drake’s songs came on during one of her Vegas residency shows, and the well-adored cougar, Jennifer Lopez, referred to the 6 God as a booty call!

“Huh, booty caaaalll!” said Lopez.

Some fans took this as J Lo throwing shade. It sounded like the music slowed down and Drake’s “Hotline Bling” was played.

J.Lo then paused, put her hands on her hip, and basically refers to her ex-flame as nothing but a late night hook up.

Of course the crowd went nuts, and Jenny returned to dancing to her own music as if she didn’t just give her fans a crazy moment.

So, do you feel like this was a diss at Drake, or was this J Lo’s way of hinting at what went down during the months they were supposedly dating? Maybe she was just having a little bit of fun on stage, and trying to make her way back into the headlines. I wonder how her new man Alex Rodriguez feels about it.

Will Big Pun Finally Get His Own Street? Bronx Residents Say Yes

(AllHipHop News) A group of residents in the Bronx are launching an initiative to honor the late rapper Big Pun with his own street.

A new push to name East 163rd Street and Rogers Place after Big Pun could finally go before city council representatives.

City Councilman Rafael Salamanca told News 12 that he will bring the idea to a vote, if residents support the proposal.

Big Pun’s son Chris Rivers believes it would help the local community.

“I think for the people of the Bronx that that grew up listening to him, that was inspired by his words and the millions of people that heard his music!and it changed their lives, I think it would be amazing to see something more concrete,” Chris Rivers said.

It could be an uphill battle, since a previous attempt to rename the street was opposed by the locals.

But that did not stop Big Pun’s many fans from honoring the rapper anyway.

In addition to a massive mural of Big Pun, unofficial street sign was made and a fan strung up an unofficial street sign, renaming the intersection Big Pun Place.

However, city officials took the street sign down after only a week.

Big Pun died of a heart attack on Feburary 7, 2000.

(AllHipHop News) Chicago rap legend Twista is back with a new single, in preparation for a new album.

Twista just dropped his Zaytoven-produced single “Baddest” featuring fellow Chicagoan Cap 1.

“Baddest” is the latest single from Twista’s upcoming album Crook County.

He also dropped “Next To You” featuring Jeremih to set up the Crook County album.

“Crook County is the title from a song I had before, but today, I just feel it represents the area where I am,” Twista explained. “We are in the county of crooks and everybody knows it! Not glorifying, just is what it is. We’re always glorifying Chicago in positive ways, as well, and will have future titles representing the city in other aspect which are positive. Word on the street is Scott and Jenner may be getting ready to move in together.

Apparently shacking up fast is a thing sometimes in Hollywood. Apparently Kylie is ready to have Travis move in her $35 million Beverly Hills rental property.

Allegedly the reality star doesn’t want a dime of rent either! Kylie has been said to just want Travis’ company as she feels protected and secure when he’s around.

I can see folks spending extended period of time at each other’s homes while still getting to know each other/dating, but moving in this fast is too much. QOTD: If Travis moves in, should he pay half of the rent?

Stolen Gun Lands Rich Homie Quan In Jail For Holiday Weekend

(AllHipHop News) Rich Homie Quan ran into some legal trouble over the weekend, after he was arrested by police in Georgia.

The rapper was due to play a gig at a venue called Club Liquids in Wadley, Georgia, when he and his entourage credit to a police checkpoint.

Local police officers searched the rapper’s vehicle, and uncovered a stolen handgun, marijuana and ecstasy.

According to TMZ.com Rich Homie Quan and five of his associates were arrested.

Rich Homie has yet to be charged as police are still investigating the matter.

The rapper will spend at least a portion of his Memorial Day weekend holiday locked up in the Jefferson County Jail, where he is currently being held.
