Scarface Remake To Feature Mexican Immigrant As Lead In Upcoming Update

(AllHipHop News) Moviemaker Antoine Fuqua has confirmed reports he’s keen to remake classic gangster film “Scarface.”

The “Training Day” director’s new film, “The Magnificent Seven,” opens this weekend and he already has his sights on another revamp – this time it’s Brian De Palma’s 1983 epic, which starred Al Pacino as violent Cuban drug lord Tony Montana.

That film was also a remake – of Howard Hawks and Richard Rosson’s 1932 film “Scarface,” starring Paul Muni as an Italian gangster boss. Fuqua’s new take will center on a Mexican immigrant to the U.S.

In a new chat with Fandango.com, the director said, “I read the script they have and it’s actually really interesting and very timely. We’re dealing with a lot of stuff now coming out of Mexico. And again, we still have those issues dealing with the American Dream, and the fact that the game is rigged, right?

“It’s not really an even playing field, but the promise is that it is. The promise is that everyone gets a fair shot, but that’s not always the case. So that’s always relevant, and right now with what’s happening in Mexico, which is where the main character comes from – he comes out of Mexico – that’s relevant, especially when you’ve got people talking about putting up walls and other kinds of stuff. We’re still dealing with immigration, we’re still dealing with what would turn someone into Scarface.”

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has made it clear he would like to build a wall between Mexico and America to keep immigrants out, if he becomes the next U.S. leader.

Meanwhile, Fuqua’s new western, starring Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, is also a remake of a remake – the original “The Magnificent Seven” in 1960 was a take on Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai.

Juicy J Wants To make Dream Collaboration With Eminem Happen!

Juicy J recently stopped by “The Whoolywood Shuffle” to chop it up with DJ Whoo Kid.

DJ Whoo Kid decided to ask him about his opinion on today’s rappers and the Memphis legend decided to weigh in.

Juicy J says that he and Three 6 Mafia didn’t have to go through it as bad as the kids today do as far as getting criticism for not putting out real lyrical content. Juicy says every now and then he did hear people say that their music wasn’t real music, but they decided to stay in their lane, and everyone started gravitating towards it.

Juicy J receives the new generation of rappers well because he feels like their music sounds influenced by Three 6 Mafia, and because the rap group received some of the same criticism back then.

Juicy also said he loves reaching out to other artists and helping them because he feels you can’t be a legend if you don’t reach out and pay it forward in the game.

When DJ Whoo Kid asked him if we’d ever see a collaboration between Juicy and Eminem, Juicy replied saying,

“I want to do a record with Eminem. Eminem is that legend. If Eminem and Juicy J do a record together, that would be some hot sh*t. I would actually like to go in and produce the beat make like a old Three Six Mafia type of beat.”

I’m here for this collaboration on some ’90s shhhhhh! Are you?

Is Stevie J Already Cheating On Faith Evans With An Atlanta Stripper?

Hmmmmmm. Well last week our eyebrows were certainly raised when rumors spread that Stevie J and Faith Evans were allegedly dating.

Now ’90s lovers know that Stevie J is incredibly talented despite his antics on Love & Hip Hop, but they seemed oddly paired. Biggie is probably rolling over in his grave. Faith Evans seems too mature of a woman to deal with someone who just got out of a relationship with Joseline Hernandez.

We still don’t know if we believe the two are an item yet, but if they are, rumor has it that Steebie is back to his sleezy ways.

According to a few ATLiens, Stevie J has been cheating on Faith with an Atlanta Stripper (Babe Cakes) who will also make an appearance on Love & Hip Hop. Of course Stevie is saying he’s the young lady’s manager.

Apparently Stevie is also locked up for violating his probation with drug use. Word on the street is he may spend at least 30 days behind bars. Get it together Stevie!

Is A$AP Rocky’s Third Album On The Way?

It’s been a little over a year since A$AP Rocky released his ‘At. Long. Last. ASAP’ album, but good news A$AP fans! A$AP Rocky is back in the “yo” working on his third album.

Rocky decided to link once again with the veteran producer Jim Jonsin who produced his “L$D” single. THE Jim Jonsin has also worked with everyone from Beyonce to Eminem, and took to Instagram to announce that he and A$AP were back in the studio together working on the album.

New material for A$AP has been a little scarce short of his “Yamborghinin High” collab with Juicy J and his “Good For You” collab with Selena Gomez.

A$AP never wanted to flood the market with music with no purpose; he just wanted to put out dope music when he sees fit.

We’ve enjoyed watching A$AP grow and evolve with the exception of his reasoning for not getting involved in politics.

Are you ready for new A$AP Rocky music?

Actor/Rapper Page Kennedy Explains Powerful Video “The Shoot”

Page Kennedy is well known for his acting, having played roles in such iconic shows as “Weeds,”” Six Feet Under,” “Rush Hour,” “Backstrom” and “Blue Mountain State,” to say the least of his many film roles.

It seems to be a fairly well-kept secret though that he is also an accomplished rapper even though it is something he has been doing since the age of seven; but all that is about to change.

Right before leaving for New Zealand, where he joins Jason Statham and Ruby Rose for pre-production of “Meg”, the Detroit native dropped the first video from his upcoming full-length project, “Torn Pages.”

“The Shoot” was shot entirely from a first-person perspective as Page addresses the barrage of police shootings the nation has been bombarded with recently.

When asked why he would tackle such a controversial subject at a time that celebrities are taking a lot of flack for doing so, Page, who insisted the video is not anti-cop.

“I feel that after the initial outcry, the public can become desensitized to heinous events like this to a degree because of movies and television but also because police shootings like these happen far too often. The images on the news play on repeat and the victims become news stories, statistics,” Page Kennedy told AllHipHop.com. “As a black man in America, I asked myself what if that was me or my son this happened to. And what I felt was so visceral and overwhelming that I began to write instinctively wanting to humanize the victims as real people. To talk about their fears and emotions, thoughts and instincts as they live their final moments…when they realize this is their reality, and how the human spirit reacts and makes decisions, good or bad, faced with its imminent mortality’.”

Ironically, in one of those bizarre moments when life imitates art, the police showed up to the set and began driving repeatedly by the location and finally surrounded the crew just as Page and his son were enacting his final moments.

Fortunately they left without further incident, but this left everyone on set reinforced in the conviction that this was an important story to tell.

“Torn Pages” features cameos from Royce da 5’9, Crooked I, Mr. Porter, Elzhi, Fred the Godson, Trick Trick, Kuniva, King Los and a very special collaboration with Marcia Ambrosius and will likely have an early 2017 release date.

In other news…Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture is finally here after taking 100 years to craft. According to early reports, the museum is amazing and presents an expansive look at the history and life of African Americans.  A unique 3D interactive exhibit will emerge next year, a technological feat made possible from a $1 million grant from Google.org. Dr. Lonnie Bunch, the NMAAHC’s director, visited Google’s headquarters and lobbied for his vision. “I immediately knew I wanted to be involved, and pulled together people from across the company: designers who focus on user interaction, members of the Cultural Institute, engineers who work on everything from Google Maps to YouTube, and members of the Black Googler Network,” said Travis McPhail, Software Engineer, Google Maps, and Team Lead, Project Griot. “For the past year, we’ve been working to deliver on Dr. Bunch’s vision.” McPhail maintained that the interactive, virtual experience will allow people to view more than a typical museum, that is limited by space constraints. “With 3D scanning, 360 video, multiple screens and other technologies, visitors can see artifacts like a powder horn or handmade dish from all angles by rotating them with a mobile device,” he urged. The interactive exhibit opens in spring of 2017.

VH1 and 345 Games have rolled out “Love & Hip Hop: The Game,” a new mobile app based the reality franchise. The “Love & Hip Hop” mobile app allows users to create and customize characters then put them into the wild world of “Love & Hip Hop” as an unknown artist. As an artist, the user then must fight to rise to prominence in the show. “‘Love & Hip Hop’ fans are the most passionate enthusiasts and we developed the game to fuel their passion and further extend this hit franchise into a true lifestyle brand that reaches fans worldwide,” said Dan Yang, Viacom’s EVP & GM of Consumer Products. Cast members Remy Ma, Papoose Yandy and Rich Dollaz are all included in the game.   “Love & Hip Hop” executive producer Mona Scott-Young oversaw the creative side of the game. “This is such an exciting and unique opportunity for us to extend the brand. Our viewers love following the exciting exploits of the cast and now, they too can be immersed in the world and live it for themselves. This is an opportunity for fans and aspiring artists alike to virtually get in the hip hop game,” said Scott-Young, CEO of Monami Entertainment. The game is free to play and available worldwide on IOS and Android.

YBS Skola Wants No Part Of Cuffing Season On “I Just Wanna”

YBS Skola is a busy, busy guy. Far too busy to be getting himself boo’d up. His recent release, “No Pen – Just Paper  Reloaded”  clocked 2 million on My Mixtapez in just over 24 hours and, with the loss of both Lor Scoota and Young Moose, Skola has an entire city to carry on his back.

In a recent profile, Noisey credits YBS Skola as ‘giving Baltimore bangers, and hope, again’ and it’s only a matter of time before everyone else catches on.

On his first visual release from the project, “I Just Wanna” Skola teams up with equally talented Pop and R&B singer/songwriter, Sonne Riley.

The two pair perfectly over an El Toro track as they make it clear that regardless of who you cuffin’ with, they are only too happy to come through when ya man ain’t home and get you right. Don’t worry yourself about relationship complications though. Blink, and they’ll be gone.

5 Reasons Why Donald Trump Should Be America’s Next President

Donald Trump is the type of president America deserves. At this point, not only is he neck-in-check with one-time shoo-in Hillary Clinton, but he truly represents the ideals of the nation. Don’t believe me? Go the the Facebook page of your White friend and see how those conversations are going.

Even your Black friend can be apathetic or politically uneducated.

Look at the polls. This should not be close.

Generally, there is no outrage over unarmed Black slayings by police or they are asking about “Black On Black crime” (like that’s a thing). One infantile-minded person on Twitter even @‘d me in an effort to link Terence Crutcher’s murder to a rap beef. Critical thinkers, “we” are not.

Lets go.

1) People act as if Donald Trump invented racism, sexism, bigotry and idiocy. No. These elements are actually as American as Apple Pie and Ford. 400-plus years of systemic racism, yall! Donald Trump has simply emboldened those racist, cowardly individuals that are generally hidden behind a white hooded outfit or within a powerful institution like a court room. Obama saved the nation from utter ruin and this is the thanks people of color get? Remember, he’s a product of our community, you rats.

2) Black people are in pain, mentally, spiritually and literally. I am not going to dump a bunch of numbers on you, because I know that gnat-like attention span won’t focus that long. However, the numbers are not improving in any category all the way to mortality. That’s said, potential President Donald Trump is going to help distribute some of the pain. Clearly, things are not improving for most Black, Brown and even Red people. Why should White folk be any different?  If you really want a scary scenario, read ironside hex’s “The Future According To Donald Trump.”

3) People are so scared of Donald Trump, like some sort of Boogey Man with a bad hairdo. When people hit rock bottom, they typically do what they are supposed to do anyway. So, perhaps Donald Trump will force people to protect their neighborhoods, start businesses (out of necessity), stop pleading to White folk for validation, support each other and a bunch of other positive responses to blatant racism. Trump ain’t scary. Those regular people are scary.

4) Trump is like an American tradition. Nixon started the war on Black people (disguised as the War on Drugs). Reagan pumped drugs and guns into urban communities and got everybody killing each other in a myriad of ways. Bill Clinton helped get mass incarceration cracking while Hillary called us “super predators” when we weren’t. Lets not even talk about the Bushes. At the end of the day, Donald Trump is perfect and his ideals will keep ‘Merica “great.”
Image result for Donald Trump dancing GIFs

5) These people don’t give a damn about you or your kids (Jordan Davis, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice and Aiyana StanleyJones) or your mother (Korryn Gaines) or your grandmother (Kathryn Johnston) or your wife or your husband/spouse/partner (Eric Garner, Sean Bell, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling ) or your women (Tanisha Anderson, Rekia Boyd, Miriam Carey, Michelle Cusseaux, Kayla Moore).

Black people, Brown people, indigenous people and poor people in general are catching hell. In the Dakotas, regular GDI’s (gotdamn individuals) sicc’d dogs on Native American protestors who simply wanted to enforce a court order that government had to wait to build an oil pipeline through their SACRED LAND. The water in Flint and many other urban cities is poisoned. There is more outrage at athletes complaining about injustice than outrage over actual injustice.

HOWEVER, people of color are expected to jump in like full-blooded Americans to save this nation from ruin from an completely incompetent presidential candidate of your own creation even though we continue to be treated like 3rd class citizens that have yet to see the vast benefits the “dream” supposedly has to offer. (Takes breath…) Right?

At this point, people disgust me and therefore Donald Trump is perfect for you. He will continue the epic, historical, long-legged legacy of flat-out bigotry and hatred that is truly American. Don’t p### on us and tell us its the rain. Don’t give me Booty-O’s and say its Cheerios, b. Of course that makes little sense, as do these times. I have been an activist and mentally awoke longer than I have not. I’m going for self and community. If you aren’t with that, stay out of my path.

For the record, Black people are supporting Trump at about 0%-1% (Source: Maddow/CNN) so you know where we as a people stand. Don King be damned.
