Did Shawty Lo’s Father’s Death Have An Impact On His Own Passing?

There is sad news. Not only has the world lost Shawty Lo, but the beloved Atlanta rapper was mourning the death of his own father. At first, there were reports that there was a hit and run that killed Shawty Lo. But soon, it became apparent that there was only a single car and that was the rapper’s. Now, there are no toxicology reports or anything like that, but some are suggesting that he was in DEEP morning to the degree where some exterior coping was needed.

Shawty had did a song in honor of his father. This is truly terrible.

His father’s funeral was just this past Sunday. Deepest condolences.

Queen Latifah has teamed up with La La Anthony to adapt the actress’ book “The Love Playbook: Rules For Love, Sex, And Happiness” into the new film. Anthony opened up about her love life, marriage to U.S. basketball player Carmelo Anthony and also offered up relationship advice in the bestselling 2014 book. She will service as an executive producer, while the project will be co-produced by Latifah, according to Variety.com. It is unclear when the movie will start filming or if the former rapper-turned-actress will be a part of the cast.

Rapper Kanye West will be releasing new music with legendary Beatles member Paul McCartney. The rapper made the announcement last night (September 20) at the Houston stop of his “The Life of Pablo” tour. Kanye previously collaborated with Kanye on the songs “All Day,” “Only One,” and “FourFiveSeconds.” The collaborations drew some criticism, which Paul McCartney shrugged off. “When I wrote with John [Lennon], he would sit down with a guitar… We’d ping-pong till we had a song. It was like that,” Paul McCartney said in a 2015 interview.

Rapper Slick Rick will start his first ever tour of his home country, the UK, this November. Slick Rick’s “Coming Home Tour” will hit five cities in England on the tour, and then hop over to Dublin, Ireland for a one-off performance. Slick Rick was born and raised in Mithcam, Surrey, but he made a name for himself in Hip-Hop in the early 80’s with Doug E. Fresh, when he relocated to the Bronx, New York. After a legal incident in July of 1990, in which he shot his cousin and an innocent bystander. This resulted in a jail term and a 23-year-battle to become a citizen of the United States, which happened in April of 2016. “I’m coming home, back to my foundation, my make-up, my English roots,” Slick Rick told AllHipHop.com. “I’m looking forward to a nice cup of tea and some tasty biscuits.”

Dr. Dre’s Son Goes On Tour Of Weed Facilities

(AllHipHop News) Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young is on a tour of medicinal marijuana facilities as part of his Music and Medicine Dispensary Tour.

Young, who is the CEO and President of Forever Young Entertainment, will sign autographs in addition to showcasing exclusive strain of his “Chronic Glass” line.

Young will interview patients as well, to incorporate the their testimonies into a musical festival to inform fans about medicinal marijuana.

“We have to preserve and protect access to cannabis as medicine,” Curtis Young told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “Even as recreational cannabis takes center stage in states like Oregon and California, we want to continue to raise awareness about the incredible difference medicinal cannabis makes in people’s lives every day.”

(AllHipHop News) Pioneering Hip-Hop legends DJ Kool Herc, Grandmaster Caz and Coke La Rock attended a ceremony at the Cedar Playground, where each one helped launch the genre of Hip-Hop music into popular culture.

With the help of his sister Cynthia Campbell, Kool Herc used to DJ in the summers in Cedar Park in the Bronx, which is down the street from 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, where Herc hosted his first party on August 11th, 1973.

The park and the building are renovated thanks to a new $2.4 million investment secured by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the City Council.

Eminem Pays Tribute To Chris Hanson Following “8 Mile” Director’s Death

(AllHipHop News) Eminem has paid tribute to 8 MILE director Curtis Hanson following his death.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker was found unconscious at his Hollywood Hills home on Tuesday (20Sep16) and pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement officials say he appeared to die from a heart attack. He was 71.

Among Hanson’s most famous movies was 2002’s “8 Mile,” which marked the acting debut of rapper Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers.

Following his passing, Eminem was quick to release a statement expressing his condolences and thanking Hanson for believing in him.

He told The Hollywood Reporter:

“Curtis Hanson believed in me and our crazy idea to make a rap battle movie set in Detroit. He basically made me into an actor for 8 Mile. I’m lucky I got to know him.”

Hanson was an acclaimed director, writer, and producer, and won his only Academy Award for co-writing the “L.A. Confidential” screenplay with Brian Helgeland.

Other stars to pay tribute to Hanson included “L.A. Confidential” star Russell Crowe, who wrote on Twitter: “RIP Curtis Hansen (sic) . Thank you for believing in me & standing your ground. In reality you made my job a career. Love & respect my friend.”

He later added: “Obviously distracted & upset…RIP to Curtis Hanson… this correction because he would have asked for another take…’in technicolour sir.'”

Rob Lowe worked with Hanson on 1990’s “Bad Influence” and tweeted: “It was an honor to make ‘Bad Influence’ with Curtis Hanson. So smart, so kind and a great storyteller. I will miss him.”

Kevin Bacon teamed up with Hanson on 1994’s “The River Wild,” and wrote on his Twitter page: “So sad to hear about Curtis Hanson. great director. great man. Riding that river with him was one of the greatest gigs of my life.”

Hanson also helmed films such as “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle,” “Wonder Boys,” “In Her Shoes,” and TV movie “Too Big To Fail.”

His final film was 2012 surfer biopic “Chasing Mavericks,” starring Gerard Butler.

Take A Look Inside Snoop Dogg’s New Spaceship Recording Complex

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Snoop Dogg just completed the construction of a new state of the art recording studio in Los Angeles.

The rapper upgraded his Beach City Music recording and media complex, with Westlake Pro, a company that specializes in the construction and design of recording facilities.

The company has worked with Dr. Dre, guitarist Slash, Sony and other top clients, to bring the vision for their studios to fruition.

Snoop Dogg’s longtime collabaortor DJ Pooh over saw the rollout of the new flexible, futuristic studio.

And futuristic it is. Snoop wanted the hallways of his new compound to convey the experience of being aboard a spaceship.

“It was great to have Westlake Pro in the house. I had a vision and they knocked it out of the park,” Snoop said on completion of the studio.

Snoop’s modernized Beach City Music has two main production and mixing rooms: the Mothership and the Battleship.

The studio also boasts recording rooms, isolation booths, live recording rooms, and video production rooms.

Here are some specs for studio rats:

The Mothership boasts Zaor desk housing a 64-channel Neve Genesys Black console.
Battleship has a custom-built RAVEN Z3 Multi-Touch production console from Slate Media Technology, which serves as the nerve-center for the entire studio. 

Battleship has two workstations in the rear corners of the room that allow producers to connect laptops, synthesizers, or other instruments.

“It’s been a pleasure working with these guys,” said DJ Pooh. “When all the studios were wired, we tested every wire in the studio. I think one wire might have been off out of thousands and thousands of wires. That’s a testament to the work they do. I’ve never seen that quality of work.

The ATL rapper tried to pull one on his fans by claiming that he got his face tattoos removed.

21 took to Snap Chat to claim that he had removed some of his tattoos even his signature knife tattoo on his forehead.

The snap was almost believable because Savage’s tattoos were covered up, but he has since revealed that is was all a big joke.

So now we wonder how he covered up the tattoos? Was it make up? A custom Snap Chat filter?

EXCLUSIVE: Angie Martinez & Cipha Sounds Talk “TIDAL X: 1015” Charity Concert Featuring Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, T.I. & More

(AllHipHop Features) Last year, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center held the inaugural Tidal X concert.

On October 15, the NYC venue will once again be the place where music icons such as Beyoncé and Ms. Lauryn Hill perform for charity.

The global entertainment platform Tidal and the poverty-fighting organization Robin Hood have announced TIDAL X: 1015.

The goal of the festival is to raise awareness, funds, and inspire action for transformative and positive social impact focusing on education. 

T.I., Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Common, DNCE, Robin Thicke, Emeli Sandé, Prince Royce, Blood Orange, Salva, and Ross One are also among the acts expected to take the stage at TIDAL X: 1015.

Tidal Rising acts Mark E. Bassy, Lil Yachty, Kevin Garrett, Danielle Bradbery, Sir The Baptist, Bebe Rexha, and Levi Carter have been tapped for the concert as well.

“The Voice Of New York” Angie Martinez will serve as the host for the evening.

The Power 105.1 radio personality spoke with AllHipHop.com about the importance of celebrities getting involved in philanthropic activities such as the showcase being put on by Tidal and Robin Hood.

“People have these platforms to use their amazing voices to inspire people all the time or create good music that provokes things,” says Martinez. “All of that’s cool, but ultimately if you can use your voice to change people’s lives, that’s what it’s all about.”

Another well-known New York City Hip Hop figure is part of the upcoming event in Brooklyn.

Cipha Sounds also discusses his role in TIDAL X: 1015 and the value of giving back with AllHipHop.com.

“I love it. I always wanted to help people. I just never knew how. I knew I wanted to be in entertainment, but I always wanted to help people,” states the former Hot 97 deejay. “I’m not saying all people of stature have to help, but I think they should. Because people listen to them a lot more. I’m glad to be part of it in any way.”

Cipha had one of the most talked about sets at the TIDAL X: 1020 concert in 2015.

The Take It Personal improv show creator plans to bring just as much heat at next month’s performance.

“That set from last year was incredible, but it was incredible because it was unexpected,” Cipha recalls. “I came out and tore it down. That’s what I do on a regular basis. It’s just that it was in front of a bigger audience. Even Jay Z was telling me how much he liked it. I’m going to be able to top that easily.”

With numerous platinum-selling entertainers like Hov walking around Barclays during TIDAL X, the corridors of the arena likely resemble a living “hall of fame.”

Angie insists the spirit of goodwill is what truly resonates behind the scenes.

“It’s always fun backstage with artists of that caliber. Everybody’s excited and take their shows seriously. But an event like this is even better because everybody knows they’re there for a good cause. So the vibes are always good,” conveys Martinez. “You’re showing up there with good intentions, so that sets the tone of the night. Everybody involved is happy to be there.”

Cipha Sounds adds, “The backstage vibe is phenomenal. Everybody’s showing love.”

In addition to teaming with the Robin Hood non-profit, Tidal previously promoted other charitable endeavors with recording artists.

T.I. was hands on for the TIDAL X: MONEY TALK education contest. Lil Wayne took part in TIDAL SOCIAL WAVE FOR CHANGE.  

Proceeds from last October’s TIDAL X: 1020 concert provided grants to a select list of organizations promoting social and racial justice.

One hundred percent of all ticket sales from TIDAL X: 1015 will benefit Robin Hood and Tidal-supported nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving education locally, nationally, and abroad.

During a livestream of the 2016 edition, fans around the world will have the chance to donate money to help fund education initiatives.

“We raised like $1.5 million last year which is amazing. I’ve been working with Roc Nation for a long time, and I’ve been working with Tidal for some time. They’re very much involved in giving back. I try to be as supportive as I can be. If I can lend my voice, why not?” expresses Angie Martinez.

“Supporting the community and having a positive impact is a Tidal tenet and mission,” says Dania Diaz, VP of Philanthropy for Roc Nation, in a statement. “We are honored to partner with Robin Hood for TIDAL X: 1015 around this year’s current theme, education. We know that education can advance communities and can be the most powerful tool for change. Robin Hood has helped transform communities in positive ways by supporting education programs that generate meaningful results.”

The TIDAL X: 1015 charity concert is scheduled for October 15 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Both Tidal members and non-members will have access to a livestream of the event provided by Tidal.

Police: Shawty Lo’s Death Caused By Single Car Crash, Not Hit-And-Run

(AllHipHop News) Initial reports suggested Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker was killed as a result of a deadly hit-and-run. Fulton County police spokeswoman Cpl. Maureen Smith has now revealed the Atlanta rapper died in a single car crash on Wednesday morning.

“The driver, 40-year-old Carlos Walker, lost control of his vehicle, a 2016 Audi, leaving the roadway and striking a tree, causing the vehicle to overturn and catch fire,” stated Smith, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Apparently, Shawty Lo was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women were also in the car at the time. Both women were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker is survived by 11 children. The D4L member’s manager Johnnie Cabbell continues to mourn his friend on Instagram.

The Game Speaks On His Issues With Meek Mill & Sean Kingston (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The Game continues to talk about his issues with Meek Mill and Sean Kingston.

After saying the conflict is not over on The Wendy Williams Show and suggesting in an interview with TMZ he may look “bipolar” for beefing with another African American while promoting Black Lives Matter, Game broke down his take on the ordeal with Hot 97.

The Compton rapper claimed he was looking out for Meek when he came out to Los Angeles. They supposedly crossed paths in an L.A. club.

“I told Meek kindly, ‘Watch yourself. N-ggas been jacking n-ggas,'” stated Game. “He was like, ‘Good looking.'”

Game went on to assert that two detectives came to his house to speak about a robbery involving Kingston because Meek “snitched” on him. In his view, that police interaction is what sparked his rant at a Miami nightspot where he first blasted Meek.

However, TMZ law enforcement sources have disputed Game’s story. According to the police, they did not investigate Game as part of the alleged crime and the case was actually dropped because Kingston refused to cooperate.

Both Sean Kingston and Meek Mill have publicly stated neither of them suggested Game or anyone in his entourage were involved in the theft. They suggest Game is pushing that accusation as a way to bring attention to his upcoming album.

Before their recent fallout, Cudi and Kanye worked very closely together on different musical projects.

Big K.R.I.T. Talks Parting Ways With Def Jam

MMG’s Chino Claims The Game Has A Ghostwriter!

Another Hip Hop ghostwriting allegation has hit the fan as Dreamchaser/MMG’s Chino claims that The Game has been using a ghostwriter for his bars, especially for those aimed at Meek Mill.

According to Chino, the alleged ghostwriter wrote The Game’s diss track aimed at Meek, “Pest Control.”

“I kno THE GAME ghost writer btw he from Chicago he ran wit some good Baltimore dudes. Can someone tell the game stop it . . . It’s public an it’s always been in the streets ain’t no telling over here wit the chasers homie ! Btw Marcus black wrote that . . . Since Game’s beef with Meek and his diss track “92 Bars”, Sean Kingston, Omelly, Beanie Sigel and even 40 Glocc have become involved in the beef.

Shawty Lo Reported Dead After Car Crash [UPDATE]

(AllHipHop News) News is breaking out of Atlanta that Southern rapper Carlos “Shawty Lo” Walker has passed away at the age of 40. According to reports, Shawty Lo was killed in a hit-and-run.

Shawty Lo biggest hit record was 2007’s “Dey Know.” He won Rookie Of The Year at the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards.

UPDATE:

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Fulton County police confirmed Walker died as the result of a single car crash on the I-285 southbound ramp to Cascade Road around 2:20 am.

Two women were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

They were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shawty Lo was ejected from the Audi after the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RIAA recently announced that the Grammy Award winning rapper’s album has surpassed the 500,000 sales mark, thanks in part to the hit single “All I Need Is You,” which helped power Anomaly to the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. This October, Lacrae is hitting the road on the “The Destination Tour, You’re Accepted,” which kicks off October 25th in Columbia, SC. In the meantime, fans can catch Lacrae’s amazing politically charged performance on the upcoming BET Hip-Hop Awards, which will air October 4.

Donald Glover received some good news today, as his the hit show “Atlanta” has been renewed for a second season already. The show, which premiered on September 6 on FX, was the most watched comedy for the network in the 18-49 demographic since 2014. FX ordered 13 new episodes of “Atlanta” and “Better Things.” “It is clear to us that ‘Atlanta’ and ‘Better Things’ have struck a nerve with viewers, which is a credit to Donald Glover’s vision for ‘Atlanta’ and Pamela Adlon’s vision for ‘Better Things.’ They, along with their spectacular casts, writers and directors, have created exceptional shows that we are incredibly proud to produce,” said Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, in a joint statement.

Kanye West’s clout was proven when he joined social media platform Instagram. The Chicago rapper signed up on Sunday (September 19) and has already racked up 1.1 million followers. What’s even more impressive is the fact that Kanye has only posted one picture, of a scene from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movie “Total Recall.” The picture already has over 400,000 likes and 61,000 comments.

Tyler The Creator Releases New Looks For Golf Wang 2016 Collection

(AllHipHop News) Odd Future MC Tyler The Creator is making moves in the fashion industry with the release of his Golf Wang 2016 lookbook.

A number of items featured in the lookbook made their debut at the rapper’s MADE LA fashion show in June, but the collection also features previews of never before seen turtle necks, sweatsuits, letterman jackets, headgear, outerwear, and the highly anticipated Golf Le Fleur shoes in new colorways.

Additionally, a handful of pieces from the collection are available on the website now, with more items as well as restocks of previously sold out items set to become available on the site this Saturday (September 24.)

The new items will also become available on Tyler’s Golf Media app Friday (September 23.)
