Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta’ Premiere Draws Highest Viewers For Cable Comedy In Three Years

(AllHipHop News) Donald Glover achieved success as a Grammy-nominated performer and as a star of NBC’s Community.

The rapper/actor can add another triumph to his resume. Vulture reports Glover’s new FX show Atlanta collected the highest numbers of viewers for a basic cable comedy debut in three years.

The September 6 series premiere – “The Bang Bang” – was watched by 1.2 million tune-in viewers. Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer opened with 1.56 million viewers in 2013.

With 3-day DVR numbers added, “The Bang Bang” collected 1.8 million total viewers. A second Atlanta show was also broadcast on premiere night and was able to maintain 92% of the audience.

The third episode of Atlanta aired last night (September 13) with a guest appearance by the rap group Migos. Watch episodes of Atlanta at fxnetworks.com.

Meek Mill’s Cousin Shot In The Head and Killed In Philly

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Meek Mill is mourning the loss of his cousin, who was shot and killed on a street last night (September 14) in Philadelphia.

Local reports identified Meek’s cousin Angel Colon as the man who shot in the head on Snyder Avenue around 10:00PM.

In February, Chino, member of Meek Mill’s Dream Chaser’s crew, was shot in the head as sat in a parked car in Baltimore. Luckily, Chino survived the shooting.

Meek’s cousin Angel wasn’t so lucky. The rapper took to Instagram to pay homage to his slain cousin.

50 Cent is back at it with his baby mama, Shaniqua Tompkins, and it’s getting pretty ugly!

As if it wasn’t bad enough that 50 let the world know he’s counting down the days until he doesn’t have to pay child support anymore, he has taken to Instagram to continuously taunt both his son and his son’s mother.

50 told Tompkins,

“Life is full of choices,some you cant take back. If you hate me why you don’t change your son’s name to tompkins. If im the problem why were you crying saying its your fault you didnt let him see his grand parents for 4 years? Im not your enemy you are. #startJOBhuntingNOw”

50 Claims his ex Shaniqua hasn’t worked in over a decade, and he is advising her to get her job hunt on ASAP!

Regardless of whether or not 50 has a great relationship with his son’s mother or not, we would like to think he had enough decency to keep it all private and offline.

Shaniqua came to her son’s rescue and had some choice words of her own for the G-Unit boss!

“I realized just like @50Cent can’t spell he can’t add either. He got shot in 2000. I moved him to my mother’s house in PA. Kid Cudi Calls Out Drake, Kanye and Promises To “Crush Their Entire Existence”

(AllHipHop News) Kid Cudi has some issues with Kanye West and Drake, who recently announced they would be dropping a joint project together.

The rapper took to Twitter today (September 14) and blasted the music industry and is planning some new music to “crush their entire existence.”

Before he called Kanye and Drake out by name, he blasted rappers who claim they are Top 5, yet use ghostwriters to help them create their songs.

“My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These ni##as dont give a f##k about me. And they aint f##kin with me,” said Kid Cudi, who left Kanye’s G.O.O.D Music label in 2013.

Marvel Reimagines Hip-Hop Covers New Rappers For 2016 Hip Hop Variants Collection

(AllHipHop News) Marvel has put its touch on a collection of popular Hip-Hop album covers once again.

The comic book giant put its spin on six different covers for the second installment of its Hip Hop Variants collection.

The 2016 collection will include an illustrated spin on album covers from Wu-Tang Clan, Salt-N-Pepa, Big Daddy Kane, Kevin Gates, Chance the Rapper and LL Cool J.

“Comics and Hip-Hop share a common narrative: They’re all about underdogs struggling, striving and persevering against overwhelming odds,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso told Playboy.

“…It’s no surprise that so many rappers have been influenced by the Marvel mythology or embraced the Marvel heroes over the decades. The Hip-Hop covers were our way of showing that the love is reciprocal,” continued Alonso.

Marvel’s 2015 edition of Hip Hop Variants featured animated spins on 50 album covers of Hip-Hop artists, such as De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising, A$AP Rocky’s Long.Live.A$AP, and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic.

Lil Wayne Gives Take On Racism & Black Lives Matter Movement On Fox Sports 1 “Undisputed” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) New Orleans bred superstar Lil Wayne recently appeared on Fox Sports 1’s “Undisputed” and gave his candid take on the surging Black Lives Matter movement, contemporary racism and much more.

When asked about current events, such as NFL player Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for the national anthem in protest of police brutality, Lil Wayne stated that the controversy has had no impact on his life.

“They wouldn’t want my answer to that,” Lil Wayne said. “God knows that I have been nothing but blessed … I’ve never dealt with racism. I thought [racism] was over, I still believe it’s over. But, obviously it isn’t.”

Commentator Skip Bayless asked Wayne if he thought racism was over because white people show his music such strong support.

“I thought that was clearly a message there was no such thing as racism. That was a perfect example. When I open my eyes and I see everybody,” stated Wayne.

Tidal’s Parent Company Suffered Huge Financial Loss In 2015

(AllHipHop News) Tidal, the company purchased by Jay Z in 2015, is fighting against Spotify and Apple Music for consumers in the music streaming marketplace.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Tidal’s parent company, Aspiro AB, recorded a net loss of $28 million in 2015.

The Sweden-based holding company suffered a net loss of $10.4 million in 2014.

The legal findings also show Aspiro’s revenue rose 30% from $36 million to $47 million over that same period.

However, a source suggested the financial statement is incomplete because it does not reflect all of Tidal’s U.S. revenue and financing.

Tidal’s subscriber numbers now sits at over 4 million.

In contrast, Apple Music has 17 million subscribers and Spotify has 40 million paid subscribers.

Spotify also recorded a net loss in 2015, but the company’s revenue is listed as $2.19 billion for last year.

Aspiro reportedly paid record companies around $35 million in royalty payments in 2015. Tidal’s payout is said to be 4-times the rate of Spotify.

Jay Z, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Usher, T.I, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, and J. Cole are among the artist-owners of Tidal.

Each of those acts have released exclusive music or video content on the platform.

T.I., Gucci Mane, Travis Scott, Young Thug & More To Perform At 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards

(AllHipHop News) Southern Hip Hop will be well represented at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre this weekend.

The venue is hosting the taping of the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards, and several hometown acts will hit the stage that night.

The “King Of The South” T.I. and the “Trap God” Gucci Mane will be performing.

Fellow ATL native Young Thug and Houston’s Travis Scott have been tapped for the show as well.

Other acts scheduled to perform include Desiigner, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, 21 Savage, Dae Dae, Big Baby D.R.A.M., and Isaiah Rashad. Rap ciphers and special tributes will be part of the showcase as well.

Actors Bryshere Y. Gray (Empire) and Shameik Moore (The Get Down) will be on hand to present awards. DJ Khaled will serve as the host.

The 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards will broadcast on October 4 at 8:00 pm ET.

Birdman’s Camp Claims Lil Wayne Is Preventing The Release Of ‘Tha Carter V’

(AllHipHop News) Lil Wayne has been fighting to get his Tha Carter V album off the shelf for years.

It had been assumed the project was in limbo because Cash Money Records CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams was holding it back.

However, TMZ reports Wayne is the person preventing C5 from being released. Sources connected to Birdman claim Wayne has the LP’s master recordings and he is refusing to turn them over to the label.

The website contends Wayne reportedly wants to settle his lawsuit against Cash Money before he will allow the company to have the album.

The New Orleans native sued his longtime record label for $51 million, $10 million of which was an advance allocated to be given out after the completion of C5.

The suit also states that Wayne delivered the sound recordings for Tha Carter V to Cash Money in December 2014.

His legal team asserts that Cash Money is now in breach of contract for not paying Wayne for the album.

Producer Zaytoven Reveals That Future’s Mixtape “Beast Mode 16” Is Complete In Interview With Vlad TV (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta super producer Zaytoven revealed that Future’s Beat Mode 16 project is now complete.

The long time producer, who is a frequent collaborator with the MC, unveiled the latest news in an interview with DJ Vlad, after reflecting on a lot of the previous work he’s done with the artist and Gucci Mane.

“I was with Future maybe three weeks ago and he was saying like ‘I want to keep recording songs, but if it came to it and I needed to drop right now we done. I’m confident in what we got right now to drop another Zaytoven and Future project,'” Zaytoven said.

A release date is not set for the project yet, but Zaytoven revealed a few months ago that Drake would be making an appearance on the mixtape.

Future’s latest project EVOL, released February 6, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 134,000 album-equivalent units.

Travis Scott Inks Worldwide Publishing Deal With Universal Music Publishing Group

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop star Travis Scott continues his momentum after his latest release Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight.

The rapper has now signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing deal with Grand Hustle/Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).

According to Universal Music, UMPG along with Grand Hustle will be representing Scott’s entire catalogue, including his newest album, which was released through Grand Hustle and Epic Records.

“I’ve been chasing Travis Scott for years. His talent and ambitions are limitless. He’s a rock star, as well as being a brilliant writer/producer,” said Jody Gerson, Chairman and CEO of UMPG.

The news comes on the heels of his sophomore album Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight achieving the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

The album also debuted at No.14 in the UK and has over 29 million Spotify streams.

Additionally, it was also recently announced that Travis will be executive producer for the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album Cruel Winter, expected to be released early next year.

Joe Budden’s New Album “Rage & the Machine” To Drop October 21 (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Introspective lyricist Joe Budden recently announced an October 21 release for his album Rage & the Machine after boldly skydiving with to build anticipation for the project.

The project will be produced primarily by araabMUZIK and will feature the Fabulous and Tory Lanez assisted lead single from the upcoming album “Flex.”

“I’m thankful to still be passionate about Hip-Hop, but even more thankful that Hip-Hop is still passionate about me; soon we Rage” Joe Budden stated when speaking on the soon to come release.

AraabMUZIK, the main producer on Rage & The Machine, also provided some interesting commentary when discussing the new album.

“Working with Joe on Rage & The Machine was like being in a documentary movie,” declared araab.

“He literally poured his heart and soul into this project and used me as an instrument to help paint the canvas. Joe was born to entertain,” the producer continued.

Budden said that he also plans on dropping a sequel to Rage & the Machine a few months following its release. He will also be dropping the next single from the project “By Law,” later this week.

Drake Makes “Where Ya At?” Lyrics A Reality!

There’s always that one neighbor who just can’t be cool or get with the program in regards to their other neighbors wanting to have a good time!

There’s always that one neighbor who will call the police about a noise complaint in a heartbeat. When I threw parties in college (off-campus) I would even invite my neighbors or pay them off.

Apparently Drake’s neighbors are just as fed up with him as Breezy’s neighbors are fed up with Chris Brown. Or maybe Drake just wanted to level up with a baller purchase!

Trulia reports that Drake dropped almost $3 million on the house right next door to his current 7 bedroom, 9 bathroom, $7.7 million dollar compound in Hidden Hills, California. The ranch-style residence was built in 1955, and it’s located on a one-acre plot spanning 4,445-square-feet. It perfectly compliments Drake’s home next door.

Remember, in Drake and Future’s song “Where Ya At?” The 6 God raps,

“I’ll buy the neighbors house if they complain about the noise.”

Welp, it looks like he did just that!

There’s no clear word about if Drake has actually been getting noise complaints, but we know that the 6 God loves to throw lavish parties.

AHH Stray News: Snoop Dogg Honored By BET, Arrest In Kid Cali Murder, New Tupac Movie Trailer

Rap royalty Snoop Dogg will be fittingly honored during the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards, which are set to tape this weekend in Atlanta. Snoop Dogg is being honored with the “I Am Hip Hop” Award at the 11th annual event, which takes place at the Cobb Energy Performing Centre. Gucci Mane, Young Thug and T.I. are among the performers expected to hit the stage this year. The 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards will air on October 4.

An arrest has been made in the murder of rapper Kid Cali. Kid Cali, who was once signed to Desean Jackson’s Jaccpot Records, was shot six times and killed at a party held by Kid Red in the Granada Hills section of Los Angeles in August. Police have apprehended a 19-year-old in the shooting, which took place during a fight between two rival gangs. Two other people were hit by the gunfire and are currently recovering.

A new trailer has been released for the new Tupac Shakur biopic “All Eyez On Me,” to mark the 20th anniversary of the legendary rapper’s death, which happened today (September 13) in a Las Vegas hospital. The new “All Eyez On Me” has received praise thus far, thanks to the camerawork of director Benny Boom, actor Demetrius Shipp, Jr. as Tupac and Jamal Woolard, who plays Biggie Smalls. T.I. Answers Criticism Of Rappers That Address Police Brutality And Recite Violent Lyrics (VIDEO)

Tip “T.I” Harris joined other rap artists in bringing awareness to racial inequality by releasing the recent songs/videos “We Will Not” and “Warzone.”

The Family Hustle star was a guest on last night’s The Daily Show. Host Trevor Noah asked T.I. about the criticism placed on some rappers over them calling for justice but at the same time rapping about violence and saying “f-ck the police” in their music.

“People need to take into consideration that Hip Hop traditionally has always been a reflection of the environment that artist had to endure before he made it to where he was,” replied Tip. “So if you want to change the content of the music, change the environment of the artist and he won’t have such negative things to say.”

His problems with minorities are particularly glaring for their longevity where the Black community is concerned. Numerous special reports including the New York Times, have uncovered Trump’s housing discrimination and the special instructions his staff was given to keep African Americans out of Trump properties.

His has no apparent strategic skills. He was foolish enough to bring all these investigations on himself because of his outrageous claims and Jekyll-Hyde attempt to woo the Black community after attacking numerous minorities for months. That Trump is now reaching out to the Black community for support is as crazy and callous as the rest of his social policies.

However, this infamous cloud does have a disconcerting silver lining. Trump is performing an inadvertent public service. We thought we knew how many of our fellow Americans were I-Q deficient. We thought only a handful would buy any simple-minded answer from a con man with absolutely no substance.

Well, now we have actual numbers.
He’s creating a paper trail of our most half-witted Americans so we can improve our educational system – ASAP.

Indeed Trump has become the new epic standard for greedy, piggish behavior. [But why give the pigs a bad name? ] He joins the ranks of Scrooge, Hoover firing on the Bonus Marchers, Walmart CEO Michael Duke, Yum CEO David Novak – all the archetypal symbols of the baseness of mankind. And now, all the other stinkers are safe. They’ll never be ’Number 1’ again – Trump has that all locked up. That should make him happy.
Finally there really is something Trump genuinely excels at.
Trump is an Excellent Villain. He’s Number 1, Best in Show.
He is the classic Ugly American, reviled around the world and with very good reason.

Hopefully the rest of the world knows that genuine Americans can’t stand Trump either.

The Voice Of Timmy Turner Sings Desiigner’s “Tiimmy Turner” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Many listeners were not sure what to make of Desiigner’s XXL Freshman freestyle where the Brooklyn rhymer introduced his lines about Timmy Turner wishin’ for a burner.

Eventually, Desiigner recorded a full song titled “Tiimmy Turner,” and the track went on to become his second Top 40 hit after “Panda.”

The G.O.O.D. Music representative referenced Timmy Turner from The Fairly OddParents TV show as a way to describe himself. The world can now hear the cartoon character cover the song named after him.

Tara Strong voices Timothy Tiberius Turner on The Fairly OddParents, and Vine star Thomas Sanders got the Canadian–American actress to join him in singing Desiigner’s cut.
