Mary J. Blige Discusses First Collaboration With Kanye West

(AllHipHop News) The Queen of Hip Hop Soul has yet to release a song with Yeezus. That is about to change.

Mary J. Blige is working on her next studio album, and the LP will include a collaboration with Kanye West.

“I don’t want to give up the name of the song yet, but the album is mostly complete,” Blige told THR. “But I absolutely got a chance to work with the great Kanye West. And the song is crazy — I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

Blige describes the track as starting off with piano keys and leading into a horn sample. Kanye later joins the song with his own verse.

“It’s incredible. He kills it,” said the Yonkers, New York born singer.

The so-far unnamed MJB project will also feature work by Hit-Boy, DJ Camper, B.A.M., and Jazmine Sullivan. Blige’s last album was 2014’s The London Sessions which included an appearance by Disclosure.

Yo Gotti Officially Endorses Hillary Clinton

(AllHipHop News) Yo Gotti may not be the most politically outspoken artist out there, however the rapper is keeping an eye on the 2016 Presidential election.

The Memphis rapper was one of the millions who voted for President Obama in 2008. This time around Hillary Clinton has earned Yo Gotti’s endorsement.

Yo Gotti gave the thumbs up to Hillary Clinton during an interview at with KMEL’s Big Von during the station’s “Summer Jam” concert.

The rapper was very open to the idea of having a woman as the President of the United States for the first time in history.

50 Cent Talks Donald Trump Repeatedly Filing For Bankruptcy

(AllHipHop News) Some fans of 50 Cent were shocked when they found out the rapper/actor/mogul filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2015. 50 had reportedly amassed a net worth over $150 million, but a couple of legal losses left the G-Unit leader more than $36 million in debt.

Of course, 50 is not the first person to use the Bankruptcy Code to help alleviate financial hardships. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s companies have filed for bankruptcy at least six times.

The Daily Beast spoke to 50 about Trump’s tendency to bankrupt his businesses. He even offered some advice to The Donald.

“[Trump] knows about it. He’s done it four times!” said 50 Cent. “Donald Trump… You know, what’s interesting is the court system doesn’t know the difference between what you can say in entertainment, and what you say under oath, so you have to be really careful with what you say.”

50 admitted the billionaire real estate magnate is causing him to like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton even more. Some of Trump’s controversial rhetoric and policy positions have many other potential voters turned off as well (70% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Donald Trump).

However, 50 believes Trump will come out a winner in the long run, even if he does not make it to the White House.

“He’s someone who could potentially run America, so he’s already paid himself,” stated 50. “You know how much they’ll pay Trump to do public speaking, whether he becomes the president or not? It’s already worth it!”

As for 50 Cent’s own monetary situation, he insisted his bank account is not hurting at the moment.

“My money? I have a lot of money,” declares the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ album creator.

Kevin Hart To Produce Movie Called ‘Run The Jewels’; RTJ Member El-P Responds

(AllHipHop News) Kevin Hart is attached to an upcoming motion picture titled Run The Jewels.

The A-list comedian will produce the action comedy about a group of failed rappers on a mission to rob a Hip-Hop mogul.

There may be one problem.

There is an actual Hip-Hop group named Run The Jewels, and one of its members does not seem to like the idea of a movie about rappers using that name without he and his partner Killer Mike being involved.

El-P took to Twitter to give his response to the Run The Jewels movie concept.

The “Crown” performer wrote, “Excuse me while I go starve a savage pack of lawyers for 7 days.”

RTJ fans then began tweeting to the Brooklyn based emcee/producer about his reaction.

One Twitter user even posted an old tweet where El-P suggested making a Run The Jewels movie.

“Yes I meant for us,” he replied.

Kelis To Launch London Diner

(AllHipHop News) “Milkshake” singer-turned-celebrity chef Kelis is to open a pop-up restaurant in London.

Rapper Nas’ former wife has teamed up with executives at Le Bun to create burger bar KELISxLEBUN, which will open at London’s Leicester House next month (July 16th) for four dates before hitting the Standon Calling festival.

The diner will serve up Kelis’ favorite burger recipes in South American arepa buns, which she enjoys.

Kelis will also be headlining the Standon Calling event.

“I’ve been looking forward to bringing my cooking to London for years,” she said in a statement about the collaboration. “This July I’m over for lots of festivals and it’s the perfect time to finally make this pop up restaurant dream a reality. The Le Bun guys are the perfect partners and I can’t wait for everyone to have a taste.”

Kelis took time out of her music career after becoming a mom and trained in cooking at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu school.

She released a cookbook, “My Life On A Plate,” in 2014, and now has a successful range of sauces, called Bounty & Full.

Kelis’ trip to the U.K. will also include stops at the Love Supreme and Kendall Calling festivals, and she also has a mini residency lined up at London’s newly re-opened Jazz Cafe throughout July.

It will mark her first trip to Britain since she became a mom again last year.

The Milkshake singer confirmed she was pregnant with her second child in September and gave birth in November.

The newborn joins big brother Knight, Kelis’ son with ex-husband Nas.

The singer has yet to reveal the identity of her new baby’s father.

Broadway Musical Featuring Prince Songs Could Be In The Works

(AllHipHop News) There have been several reports that Prince has a ton of unreleased music in his “vaults.” The Purple One’s fans have wondered what will happen to those songs since the icon has passed away.

According to the New York Post, music executive Charles Koppelman, an administer of Prince’s estate, is considering using the Rock Hall of Famer’s tunes for a Broadway musical or a Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour Cirque du Soleil type of show.

“Prince was an icon on the level of The Beatles and Michael Jackson, and his legacy should be honored,” Koppelman told the Post. “Though his name was Prince, I always thought he was the king of music.”

The extensive musical catalog from the Minneapolis born entertainer is expected to skyrocket in value. Prince albums dominated the Billboard 200 chart following his death on April 21.

Both Michael Jackson and The Beatles’ John Lennon were among the top-earning dead celebrities in 2015. Prince is likely to join that list in the coming years.

YG Admits Paranoia Made Him Question If DJ Mustard Had Him Shot (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) YG’s life has included hardships such as getting shot at a Los Angeles studio last year. The Compton rapper agreed to speak with a licensed therapist about his battles with paranoia over the violent incident.

Viceland’s Noisey filmed the counseling session with YG and Siri Sat Nam Singh, PhD. The 22-minute video features the Still Brazy album creator recalling the night an unnamed person fired at him.

In addition, YG mentioned his personal issues with producer DJ Mustard. He suspected the attack was an “inside job” and wondered if his longtime musical partner was involved.

“At this time, me and Mustard, we ain’t getting along at all. We ain’t talk for like… That was the start of our sh-t,” stated YG. “At that time, I’m like, ‘Who popped me? Was it these n-ggas because we ain’t been talking? Did these n-ggas try to have a n-gga set up?'”

The two West Coast representatives have since settled their differences. YG has posted several photos with Mustard on his Instagram page since the June 2015 shooting.

Vince Staples Explains Why He Doesn’t Vote, Defends His Comments About 1990’s Hip Hop (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Say what you want about Vince Staples, but the Long Beach native is not afraid to speak his mind. The Fader got Staples to expound on some of his most infamous public statements.

Part of the filmed discussion was centered around the “Señorita” rhymer’s thoughts on politics. He explained why he chooses not to take part in the voting process.

“I don’t vote, but I have some after-school programs and things like that for kids. But other than that, I’m not a ‘fight the power’ type,” said Staples. “I’ve been through several presidents, and I don’t really know the difference.”

The 22-year-old Def Jam recording artist faced some backlash when he told Time that he didn’t understand why 1990’s Hip Hop gets a lot of credit. Vince doubled down on his controversial comments.

“In the 90’s you have Biggie, 2Pac, all that. But I said, ‘Name one rapper that was bigger than the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, or NSYNC,'” Staples argues. “Before Eminem, a rapper was never the biggest sh-t. They weren’t playing no f-cking stadiums like that.”

He continued, “You were not that important back then. It’s just the truth. It was small. It was brand new.”

It should be noted that numerous rap stars in the 1990’s earned significant pop culture accomplishments.

For example, Ice Cube made the successful transition to movies with classics such as Boyz N The Hood and Friday. While Will Smith starred in the hugely popular television series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

On the music side, The Notorious B.I.G’s “One More Chance” tied Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson’s “Scream” for the Hot 100’s highest debut in history at the time, and the Brooklyn legend’s Life After Death album was certified Diamond (10 million units).

Also, Lauryn Hill’s masterpiece The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill became the first Hip Hop album to win the Grammy award for Album of the Year in 1999.

There was also a rapper named MC Hammer whose 1990 LP Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em went Diamond and was listed as one of the best-selling album of the decade ahead of The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and the Spice Girls.

Frank Ocean Releases Statement About Orlando Nightclub Shooting

(AllHipHop News) As more details continue to emerge regarding the tragic shooting at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, celebrities have honored the victims through tweets, tributes, and other methods.

Most of the people killed at the location were members of the LGBT community, and now one of the most prominent entertainers of that community has shared his thoughts on the matter.

Singer-songwriter Frank Ocean released a statement on his Tumblr page. The Grammy winner addressed the Pulse massacre, religion, homophobia, gay marriage, the transgender bathroom debate, and more.

Read Frank Ocean’s statement below.

I read in the paper that my brothers are being thrown from rooftops blindfolded with their hands tied behind their backs for violating sharia law. I heard the crowds stone these fallen men if they move after they hit the ground. I heard it’s in the name of God. I heard my pastor speak for God too, quoting scripture from his book. Words like abomination popped off my skin like hot grease as he went on to describe a lake of fire that God wanted me in. I heard on the news that the aftermath of a hate crime left piles of bodies on a dance floor this month. I heard the gunman feigned dead among all the people he killed. I heard the news say he was one of us. I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f##### as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty. That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t. Many hate us and wish we didn’t exist. Many are annoyed by our wanting to be married like everyone else or use the correct restroom like everyone else. Many don’t see anything wrong with passing down the same old values that send thousands of kids into suicidal depression each year. So we say pride and we express love for who and what we are. Because who else will in earnest? I daydream on the idea that maybe all this barbarism and all these transgressions against ourselves is an equal and opposite reaction to something better happening in this world, some great swelling wave of openness and wakefulness out here. Reality by comparison looks grey, as in neither black nor white but also bleak. We are all God’s children, I heard. I left my siblings out of it and spoke with my maker directly and I think he sounds a lot like myself. If I being myself were more awesome at being detached from my own story in a way I being myself never could be. I wanna know what others hear, I’m scared to know but I wanna know what everyone hears when they talk to God. Do the insane hear the voice distorted? Do the indoctrinated hear another voice entirely?

EXCLUSIVE: Jim Jones Talks Cam’ron Issues, Bobby Shmurda, The Bloods And More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Jim Jones recently returned with his new album The Kitchen. Besides his latest set, the Harlem representative has been in the news recently for other subjects as well.

The “Finesse” rapper had a public spat with fellow Dipset member Cam’ron. Jones took issue with Cam taking his verse off “Oh Yeah,” and he addressed the situation on Instagram.

“He has his opinion. I have mine,” Jones told AllHipHop.com’s Chuck Creekmur. “Like I told people, my rants are emotional. I’m not a comedian. Nine times out of ten, if I tell you something, it’s actual and factual. And that’s how I feel.”

Capo continued, “The last thing I put on social media was to show people that when you ask me about Diplomats and these records, I just want people to know that there are Diplomat records out there.”

The interview also featured Jones discussing drug culture, his time on Love & Hip Hop, the Blood gang, Bobby Shmurda, and more.

Rapper “MC Hawking” To Perform For Real Stephen Hawking At 2016 Starmus Festival

(AllHipHopNews) Satirical Hip-Hop artist MC Hawking announced that he will be performing at the 2016 Starmus Festival as the rapping alter ego of the super genius theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.

Ken Lawrence, better known as MC Hawking created his Stephen Hawking alter-ego in the early 2000s and became a hit within the geek community with internet sensations such as “The Hawkman Cometh” and “Entropy.”

This led to Lawrence securing a record deal with Brash Music and the release of his debut album MC Hawking: A Brief History Of Rhyme.

Interestingly MC Hawking uses a synthesized text-to-speech program to emulate Stephen Hawking’s distinctive voice.

The real Hawking has to communicate through a distinctive speech generating device, due to his impaired motor skills caused by his ailment, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

“It is an honor to perform not only for Professor Hawking, but to other legendary scientists, musicians, and world dignitaries,” Ken Lawrence when speaking of the performance. “Professor Hawking is a pillar within the scientific community and it still feels surreal that I will be performing for him.”

The Starmus Festival was founded in 2011 by famous astrophysicist Garik Israelian and features a mixture of music, science, and art and features presentations from Astronauts, Cosmonauts, and Nobel Prize Winners.

The 2016 edition of the festival will be held in Canary Islands, Spain from June 27-July 2 in honor of Professor Stephen Hawking.

MC Hawking is due to release the video for “Fear of a Black Hole” with fellow nerd MC, MC Lars next week. The song is off his upcoming fall LP, The Hawkman Returneth.

Check out MC Hawking in action below.

Did Lil’ Mama Take A Shot At Nicki Minaj On “4PM In Calabasas” Freestyle?

Over the weekend Lil’ Mama released a freestyle over Drake‘s “4PM in Calabasas,” and social media went crazy with the belief that she was firing subliminal shots at Nicki Minaj.

“And you ain’t got no sons. I be hearing you talkin’ crazy, but you really is buns. So when you talk, talk politely. And when you tread, tread lightly cause the ice getting thinner, like 666, it’s gonna be a cold winter.”

Nicki often refers to others as her sons especially others in the rap game, so many took Lil’ Mama’s lyrics to be a response. Nicki can be a pretty shady one, so we wouldn’t be surprised if she responds to Lil’ Mama in some way. Do you think Lil’ Mama was talking to Nicki, or do you think folks were reaching on social media as usual? Remember, Lil’ Mama did say, in the past, that Nicki could be more inclusive of other female emcees. What are your thoughts?

Common and Singer Gregory Porter Make A Brand New Song To Support The Refugee Crisis

(AllHipHop News) Common just dropped a new song to show solidarity with World Refugee Day, which was celebrated on June 20.

The Chicago M.C. linked up with Grammy Award winning singer Gregory Porter to record a song titled “Running.”

All of the proceeds from the song will be donated to organizations around the world to offer some support to more than 60 million people who have been forcibly displaced to war and others issues, around the world.

“This tragedy affects all of us. I am grateful to lend my voice to these courageous survivors,” Gregory Porter said. “I hope everyone downloads the song so we can raise desperately needed money to help these families and let them know we have nothing but love for them.”

“Running” can be downloaded for a donation on www.refugeesong.com and will soon be available on iTunes for $1.99.

Did 50 Cent Get Booed Off Stage In Atlanta?

Apparently Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash was not the right stage for 50 Cent. The annual summer concert took place in Atlanta over the weekend, and concert goers are saying 50 Cent was booed off the stage. Apparently 50 was a late addition to the show, he was trying to perform new material, and the crowd just wasn’t feeling it especially with this year’s “so Atlanta” line up. Young Buck said you would have to be a “real n-gga” to like G-Unit in 2016. We guess so. Some are saying 50 didn’t necessarily get booed, but fans did boo in between set changes. Apparently 50 and other artists experienced sound issues as well. Is 50 Cent in denial about where he is musically in the game, or is ATL only receptive to ATL?

Is Gucci Mane Getting His Own Reality Show?

Rumor has it that Gucci Mane and his girlfriend Keyshia Kaoir will be getting their own reality show on Oxygen. Allegedly they are finalizing the contract and trying to work around Gucci’s probation restrictions. The show will showcase Gucci getting back on the scene after his jail sentence as well as show Keyshia and her various business endeavors. Will you be watching?
