(AllHipHop News) Chance The Rapper is up for seven nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album for Coloring Book.

In addition, the Chicago native made history when Coloring Book became the first streaming-only project to receive a nod.

The Recording Academy has now announced the Chicago native will also take the stage at the ceremony.

Soul rocker Gary Clark Jr. was also added to the Grammy line-up.

Previously, it was revealed A Tribe Called Quest and Anderson .Paak will perform together that night.

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to air Sunday, February 12 at 8 pm on CBS.

Chris Brown Says He’s About To Sign Boxing Contract After Soulja Boy’s Taunts

(AllHipHop News) Singer Chris Brown is hitting back at Soulja Boy’s claims that he’s holding up their big boxing match, which is supposed to take place next month.

Soulja Boy taunted Chris Brown in an interview published on Billboard, as well as on social media.

In a new interview with Billboard, Soulja promised to knock out Chris Brown, while his social media posts claimed that Chris Brown was stalling when he came to signing the contract.

Soulja accused Chris Brown of starting the fight, and stated, “What you waiting on? Sign that m###########’ paperwork n####. Stop playin’.”

“Yo, don’t worry, man. The contract’s going to get signed. That’s a done deal,” Chris Brown said tonight (February 2).

Earlier this week, Soulja announced that boxing legend Evander Holyfield would be training him in place of Floyd Mayweather.

Chris Brown is being trained by Mike Tyson.

“It’s going to go how it’s going to go. It’s what it is, man. Just be ready for your s##t. Don’t juice neither. That’s going to make you more tired. You’re going to be fatigued. 120 pounds soaking wet, right?

“I hope Holyfield teaching you everything in the book. Please, help Soulja.”

The two men are supposed to square off in the ring in Dubai in March.

Geto Boys’ Big Mike & Merk Deliver A Message That Is “Hard 2 Ignore”

As we all take to the streets to voice our feelings about that state of racial relations in America, music artists are taking to the studio to voice theirs.

Joining the battle cry are Nola’s Merk the Lyrical Tantrum and Houston pioneer Big Mike of Geto Boys’ fame. While they originally intend for the song to become a political outcry, they soon realized that the video was the perfect opportunity to make themselves heard.

“When we recorded the song making it political was not our intent, BUT, given the state of the world, all the police killing blacks and racism being promoted I knew this video could be used to make a statement,” Merk explained.

“It shows that not much has changed from what our grandparents went through. We’re still marching, fighting for freedom and dealing with corruption through the justice system. No matter what obstacles we face, we always find the strength to pull it together and overcome though. After the song was done I named it ‘Hard 2 Ignore’ because you can’t ignore the intended message.”

(AllHipHop News) Grammy-nominated artist Big Sean hosted listening parties in New York, Los Angeles and Detroit this week.

Big Sean was in town to promote his new album I Decided, which lands in stores tomorrow (February 3).

A variety of celebrities came out to celebrate Big Sean’s fourth album, including fellow GOOD Music artist Desiigner, Chris Brown, Pusha T, Kelly Rowland, and Sway.

I Decided features Migos, Jeremih, Eminem and The Dream.

Lauryn Hill Apologizes To Pittsburgh Fans For Being Two Hours Late and Promises Another Show

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop star Lauryn Hill has blamed “factors out of our control” for showing up three hours late to a Tuesday night (January 31) show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Fugees star was set to hit the stage at Heinz Hall at 8pm, but the gig didn’t start until after 11pm, when many frustrated ticket holders had already stormed out of the venue.

The singer/rapper has issued an apology for her tardiness, claiming bad weather had disrupted her bandmates’ travel plans.

In a statement posted on Facebook.com, she wrote, “To my fans in Pittsburgh: We apologize for the extremely late start last night, there were factors out of our control.

“Due to the snow yesterday in NYC (New York City), half of my band, and some members of my crew, were stuck at LGA (LaGuardia) airport all day. After several cancelled and delayed flights throughout the day, they arrived late last night, and went straight to the venue for the show.”

Hill admits “in hindsight” she should have made the decision to axe the gig and reschedule, but wanted to press on with the show for those who had waited patiently for her arrival.

Now the star is planning to stage another concert in Pittsburgh in the coming weeks to make it up to disgruntled fans.

She continued, “We are working on scheduling another performance in Pittsburgh later this month, before the end of the tour, for the people who bought tickets to my show last night. More details will be announced over the next few days. We look forward to seeing the fans in Pittsburgh again in a few weeks. Thank you for your understanding.”

It’s not the first time the 41-year-old has showed up hours late for a show – last year she was two hours late for a concert in Atlanta, Georgia.

She subsequently apologised, claiming her “perfectionist tendencies” had delayed the start of her performance.

50 Cent Drops $8 Million In Cash To Get Out Of Bankruptcy

(AllHipHop News) Rap star 50 Cent is completely out of bankruptcy.

According to reports, 50 has cleared the books on his Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, by plunking down $8.7 million of his own money.

In December, 50 received $14.5 million from a separate lawsuit, involving his Sleek audio headphone company.

A judge ruled that the law firm didn’t adequately represent the rapper and his “interests in licensing negotiations” and awarded him the settlement.

Under the terms of his $23 million bankruptcy settlement that 50 entered into in July, the settlement from the headphone lawsuit had to go towards satisfying the bankruptcy settlement.

The rapper used the cash he received from the malpractice suit to put another $13.6 million toward his debt.

50 Cent filed for bankruptcy in July of 2015, after Rick Ross’ ex Lastonia Leviston, won a $7 million verdict, over a leaked sex tape.

Earlier this week, 50 filed a separate lawsuit against the law firm Reed Smith and attorney Peter Raymond, claiming they botched the settlement with Lastonia Leviston.

50 is seeking $32 million from that set of former lawyers.

(AllHipHop Rumors) Word on the street is that Run The Jewels is starting their own record label! This sounds like some new FIRE talent will have the chance to get signed! Bring back talent Killer Mike and El-P!

RTJ hit the scene in 2013 with their self-titled debut album, ‘Run The Jewels’. The duo then followed up with their sophomore Mass Apeal release, ‘Run The Jewels 2’.

As Run The Jewels are in the “number” of best artists in the game, it’s to no surprise that their ‘Run The Jewels 3’ has hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart.

The rap duo have been known as revolutionary rappers as well, as they are never shy to speak poigiantly and openly on political issues.

The group forming and creating music together proved to be an invigorating experience for both parties, so it would be interesting to see the music that we’d be exposed to from the signings to their new label.

Would the new artists they signed have to carry on the radical rap lineage, or could they be themselves? Will their roster of artists have diverse sounds? Will artists of various genres be signed?

It seems as though RTJ strives to be rap heroes for the community, so what do they plan to give the masses through their future signees?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Uh oh Queen Bey! How are we going to fix this?

Poor Pharrell, Beyonce just came in and eclipsed the announcement of the birth of his triplets with one baby less. Hell I even forgot that Ciara was pregnant. K. Michelle seemed to hint that she may be pregnant with twins on the same day and got blasted. Then Lauren London posted a photo of her baby’s arm and the child was called a Z-list baby….. Queen Bey definitely broke the net once again.

Although there was a tremendous amount of joy and support for Bey-Z due to Beyonce’s announcement that their family would be expanding with twins, members of the Beyhive were a bit worried and wanted to know immediately what this meant for their Coachella plans, since Bey has been scheduled as one of the headliners.

Apparently Beyonce’s reveal came as a surprise to even Coachella producers. Bey-Bey was confirmed for the sold out festival last month, so now the festival’s executives wonder what will happen next.

Well because she’s the Queen she could always sit down and perform like Michael Jackson and Jesse J had to do when they broke their feet. The dancers could carry on. Honestly Beyonce could stand still and still deliver an amazing performance. I mean who hasn’t seen Beyonce recently anyway especially with all of the tour dates she had on the ‘Formation’ tour?!

According to TMZ, sources close to AEG Live say that at least some of the big name directors had no idea about the pregnancy. No one is really sure about how far along Bey is, but the fact that she is carrying twins could make the festival a problem for King Bey. ⠀

“The show will go on. She’ll just borrow Dave Grohl’s big chair,” one of the insiders joked.

Everyone should relax, yall know Bey will still kill it!

In interesting news, sources are claiming that Beyonce used in-vitro fertilization to conceive these twins.

According to RadarOnline, Jayonce wanted to have more children for a while and they had been trying for a while with no luck, so they turned to IVF.

Well they certainly have the coins to have as many kids as they’d like. Congrats to the Carters!

Frank Ocean’s Dad Sues His Own Son For $14.5 Million

(AllHipHop News) Frank Ocean’s estranged relationship with his father continues to get worse.

Frank’s dad, Calvin Cooksey, just filed a defamation lawsuit against his son, over a blog post Frank wrote just after the Orlando, Florida shootings last summer.

TMZ.com claims the rapper’s father is upset over the post, which claimed he called a transgender woman a “fa##ot” when Frank was six-years-old.

“I was six years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a f##### as he dragged me out a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” Frank Ocean wrote in a June 2016 post.

Frank claims the last time he saw his father, he gave him the Swiss Army knife and left.

“That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t,” Frank continued.

Frank’s dad is suing his son for $14.5 million for defamation of character.

(AllHipHop News) A data scientist just published a visual essay comparing some of today’s best known rappers vocabulary to Shakespeare’s.

According to data scientist Matt Daniels, at least 15 other rappers have a larger and more extensive vocabulary than Shakespeare.

Daniels did a statistic analysis and compared the rappers’ vocabularies to that of Shakespeare’s, and Herman Melville who wrote the massive novel “Moby Dick.”

Daniels analyzed the number of unique words used within the first 35,000 lyrics from a group of selected artists.

Rapper Aesop Rock topped the bill, with 7,392 unique words, while Wu-Tang Clan member GZA came in at number two with 6,426.

Outkast, and the Beastie Boys both had over 5,000 which was comparable to Shakespeare’s vocabulary when compared to the historical writer’s same amount of work.

Chicago artist Twista had 4,705 words while Mos Def and Jay Z clocked in with over 4,500 words a piece.

Eminem ended up with 4,494 words.

Other artists who appear on the list include 50 Cent, Drake and DMX.

Bob Marley’s son Rohan has launched a contest to find his father’s biggest American fan. Reggae legend Bob died in 1981 at the age of 36 after battling cancer, but his music is still loved all over the world. Rohan is launching the competition on the official Bob Marley music app as part of a week of celebrations marking what would’ve been the Jamaican musician’s 72nd birthday on February 6. One lucky prize winner will be flown to New York City alongside a guest where they will have lunch with Rohan and discuss his legendary father. “This is a chance for me to meet one of the best Bob Marley fans and share the many blessings that my father has given to the world,” Rohan said. The 44-year-old will decide on the winner by reading app users’ justifications of why they are Bob’s greatest fan in the app’s comments section. The competition is only open to fans in the U.S.

Rapper Lil Yachty made his New York Fashion Week debut yesterday (February 1). Yachty is the creative director of Nautica, where the rapper’s helping to promote and market the brand’s Nautica Heritage Gallery. A bunch of Lil Yachty fans showed up for the presentation, which features a collection of distressed jeans, fisherman jackets and bright bucket hats.

Rappers Migos almost landed a collaboration with top fashion house Versace following the success of their 2013 track namechecking the luxury Italian brand. The hip-hop trio scored its first hit with the song Versace, from its mixtape “Y.R.N. (Young Rich N##gas),” and the stars claim their early success earned them a call from company officials who appeared to be eager to work with the band. “They reached out before,” they told DJ Whoo Kid’s The Whoolywood Shuffle radio show. “I think we just missed the opportunity to go link and politic (do business) with them, but it’s gon’ (sic) be another opportunity down the road because sales is sales and money is money and you can’t take that away.”

(AllHipHop News) In 2015, Noisey published a video docu-series titled “Noisey Atlanta” which explored the different parts of the Atlanta Hip Hop scene.

The media company is now returning to the ATL for an episode of Noisey on Viceland.

Atlanta hit makers Migos and politically conscious emcee Killer Mike will be among the acts covered in the latest edition of the cable channel’s music culture-themed show.

The “Noisey: Atlanta” episode arrives in the wake of Migos dominating the charts with “Bad and Boujee” as well as Killer Mike’s group Run The Jewels dropping the critically acclaimed Run The Jewels 3 album.

There are rumors a segment on Young Thug’s viral video for “Wyclef Jean” will be part of the program as well.

Viceland’s Noisey previously shined a light on Chicago, Compton, Detroit, Miami, the Bay Area, Nashville, London, Seoul, Paris, and other locales.

Noisey: Atlanta with Migos, Killer Mike is scheduled to air Tuesday, February 7 at 10 pm on Viceland.

Soulja Boy Down To Collaborate With Chris Brown After He Knocks Him Out

(AllHipHop News) Soulja Boy wants the world to know that he’s taking his training for his upcoming bout with R&B singer Chris Brown serious.

Even though Soulja constantly posts images of himself smoking marijuana out of cigars on his social media feeds, Soulja said he plans to be in top shape by the time March rolls around.

“I’m training every day until the fight. I know that Floyd is not going to be able to be there with me every single day, as much as I need him, but with Holyfield, we can make it happen,” Soulja Boy told Billboard.com.

Soulja Boy, who dumped his trainer Floyd Mayweather earlier this week in favor of Evander Holyfield, said it was simply a decision made out of necessity and not because of any issues between the two.

Soulja Boy seems very confident that Evander Holyfield will teach him the proper techniques to defeat Chris Brown, who is being trained by Holyfield’s old arch nemesis, Mike Tyson.

Soulja Boy said he was even down to collaborate with Chris Brown, after the fight was over.

“If it was up to me, after I knock him out or after we fight, we can shake hands and be cool after that. We’ll have our issues out the way. If he wants to make a song, we can make a song,” Soulja Boy told Billboard.com.

Soulja Boy and Chris Brown are supposed to fight each other in Dubai this March.

Young Dolph Goes In On Yo Gotti; Explains New “The King of Memphis Gelato Mixtape”

(AllHipHop News) Young Dolph is preparing to release his new mixtape tomorrow, and the first single from is a shot at his rival, Yo Gotti.

On “Play Wit Yo B##ch,” Young Dolph labels Yo Gotti “Hoe Gotti” and claims the other “King of Memphis” is jealous because Dolph never signed with CMG.

“I hear you sleek dissin’ but that s### lame/All that make believe rappin’ about cocaine/Don’t play with me Ho Gotti you a hoe mane/You went from my biggest fan, to my biggest hater/Begging me to sign with you, but I had too much paper”

The new song, which was produced by Zaytoven, will draw attention to Dolph’s upcoming “The King of Memphis’ Gelato Mixtape,” however the 11-track release has more than just controversy.

“Gelato” features guests like Migos, Lil Yachty, Wiz Khalifa, and fellow Paper Route Empire member Jay Fizzle.

“It’s a weed smoking, money counting album,” Young Dolph said of the rest of the album.

“This album is for when you have those days when you wake up and it’s Friday or Saturday and your whole day finna be lit. It’s like, ‘My folks are with me, we finna have fun, we’re gonna smoke hella weed all day, we’re hitting up the spot, then the other spot, getting fresh at the mall, change clothes four times a day, we’re gonna hit the clubs at night, etc.’

Although Drake promised to never perform “Back To Back” again, we the people, will NEVER forget those lines and that L Meek took.

Drake has been wanting Nicki Minaj for a while, so maybe he’ll finally have his chance. Fans have been also taunting Meek by telling him that Drake stole his girl.

If Drake does in fact wife Minaj up, Game will be right there to take a few more shots at the Philly rapper.

The Weeknd Discusses New Collection With H&M

The Weeknd has just revealed his new capsule collection with retailer H&M.

The singer created a collection that “mixes utility and streetwear silhouettes with tailored lines,” to make a fashion statement this Spring.

The “Spring Icon Selected by The Weeknd” capsule collection features 25 different pieces, from bombers and hoodies, to t-shirts and outerwear that includes a motorbike jacket and a zip up work shirt with faux suede.

“I had a great time selecting my Spring icons at H&M. I love the mix of urban pieces like bombers and hoodies with tailored shirts and blazers,” The Weeknd said in a statement. “Every piece is both effortless and fresh which is just how menswear should be.”

The line from The Weeknd will be available at every H&M store that carries menswear, as well on their website site starting on March 2.

Birdman Says He Is Going To Drop 500 Unreleased Cash Money Songs Each Year

(AllHipHop News) While there’s no release date in sight for Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated Cash Money/Young Money album Tha Carter V, Bryan “Birdman” Williams is planning on releasing a ton of music over the next few years.

According to Birdman, he recently went through the Cash Money vaults and said he found thousands of unreleased songs from artists on his label that he plans to start releasing.

It might sound farfetched, but Birdman has been talking about flooding the market with Cash Money music since 2012.

Before the feud with his flagship artist Lil Wayne, Birdman had said that he wanted to release 100 Cash Money albums each year.

Current and former artists on the label include Jacquees, Juvenile, Ralo, Caskey, Nicki Minaj, The Hot Boys, Austin Mahone, Jay Sean, Rich Gang, Bow Wow, DJ Khaled and others.

So far, Birdman hasn’t elaborated on release dates for the avalanche of unreleased rap music.

Nicki Minaj’s L.A. Mansion Trashed; Thieves Make Off With $200,000 In Jewelry

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj’s mansion in Los Angeles was burglarized and trashed, according to police, who are looking for suspects.

According to TMZ.com, someone went inside of the house, turned over furniture and other items like picture frames and perfume bottles, leaving the house completely trashed.

Not only was her mansion vandalized, but the culprits made off with over $200,000 in jewelry and clothes, but certain items, which were left behind, were cut to pieces, according to TMZ.com.

The robbery comes on the heels of Nicki’s breakup with Meek Mill, and her subsequent reunion with Meek’s archenemy, fellow Young Money rapper Drake.

Police have no suspects as of press time.
