New Stage Play To Depict Bill Murray Stealing One Of A Kind Wu-Tang Clan Hip-Hop Album

(AllHipHop News) Martin Shkreli may be the “Most Hated Man in America,” but people might love to see his drama with the Wu-Tang clan play out – on the stage.

Shkreli is the guy who infamously raised the price of Turing Pharmaceuticals’ AIDS drugs 5,000%. He is the man who purchased Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, a one of a kind Wu-Tang Clan album for $2 million.

The problem is, Shkreli is accused of running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded various companies out of $1 million and stealing $11 million from one company to cover the losses of a hedge fund.

The feds claim Shkreli used some of those ill gotten proceeds to go on a spending spree that included the purchase of the only copy of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.

A new IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign is underway to produce the musical “Martin Shkreli’s Game: How Bill Murray Joined the Wu-Tang Clan,” which was written by Lauren Gundrum and Joel Esher.

It’s all based on the true events between Wu-Tang Clan and Martin Shkreli.

In the midst of the drama surrounding Shkreli’s antics, his beef with the government, RZA, Ghostface and the true ownership of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, a fake segment of the contract made the rounds on the Internet.

According to the phony document, members of the Wu-Tang Clan had the rights to attempt to “execute one heist or caper” to steal back the album, but with a catch.

The operation had to be staged by the members of the Wu-Tang Clan and Bill Murray.

The playwrights decided it would be a great idea to turn the entire saga into a musical.

And if all goes well, and funding goals are met, “Martin Shkreli’s Game: How Bill Murray Joined the Wu-Tang Clan” will make its theatrical debut in July, at New York’s Midtown International Theater Festival.

Auditions are currently being held for the role of Martin Shkreli’s, Bill Murray, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Ol Dirty Bastard and others.

Boosie BadAzz Made More Money In Drugs Than Music For A While

There have been quite a few rappers that were wrapped up in the drug game before their musical careers and even as their careers kicked off. Boosie BadAzz says that’s how he was taught to hustle and make money.

Boosie recently sat down with DJ Vlad to explain that he had his first drug-related job at age 11 as a “lookout.”

Boosie says he started selling crack and weed at 14, and he also explained that many in the streets only live to make it through the day and not necessarily to see tomorrow. At a young age the rapper even sold crack to his own family, and he recalls crackheads knocking at his window at all hours of the night.

It wasn’t until after the Bad Azz album that Boosie decided that he would get out the drug game. Boosie said up until at least 2005, he was making more money with drugs than music. It’s good to see he was able to use music as a way out.

Will Smith, Jay Z, Eminem and Diddy Pay Final Respects To Muhammad Ali

(AllHipHop News) Will Smith’s Muhammad Ali biopic is returning to U.S. cinemas as part of a nationwide tribute to the boxer, who died last week.

Smith landed his first Oscar nomination for playing the boxer in Michael Mann’s 2001 film, “Ali,” and as the sports legend’s fans, friends and family prepare for the late fighter’s funeral on Friday (June 10), Sony Pictures bosses have announced plans to put the movie back in cinemas over the weekend.

Over 100 cinemas will screen the film, while some theater owners have also scheduled screenings of “When We Were Kings,” the 2006 Oscar-nominated documentary, which chronicled the epic 1974 Rumble in the Jungle fight between Ali and George Foreman.

Will Smith will be among the pallbearers at his friend and mentor Ali’s funeral on Friday.

Meanwhile, a variety of rappers sat down with The Associated Press and discussed Ali’s legacy.

“His bravery and selflessness was inspirational,” Jay Z said. “The most impressive human I have ever come across. He is literally my hero.”

Detroit rapper Eminem said that the boxing legend has been a pivotal figure throughout his life and his rap career.

“Muhammad Ali has been a constant source of inspiration and a heroic figure throughout my life. He’s always been there, as a symbol for fighting against the odds, the system and the hatred. It’s hard to believe he’s actually not with us anymore, but he will never be gone.”

According to Sean “Diddy” Combs, Muhammad Ali was a tough fighter who showed his strength outside of the ring as well, as he fought Parkinson’s Disease.

“Muhammad Ali was never afraid to speak his mind,” said Combs.”He beat his opponents with his word before he ever stepped in to face them in the ring. He was a poet and a showman. And in a lot of ways, he was the first great MC.”

Future’s ‘Dirty Sprite 2’ Goes Platinum According To RIAA

(AllHipHopNews) Atlanta trap star Future has just been certified platinum for the first time as a solo artist with his Dirty Sprite 2 project.

DS2, which was Future’s third studio album, was released July 17, 2015 and served as the follow up to his first Dirty Sprite project.

DS2 sold over 150,00 copies in its first week despite a lack of promo before the project’s release.

The album was also Future’s first album to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts.

The album featured major hits such as “Trap Ni##as”, “F##k Up Some Commas”, and the Drake featuring smash, “Where Ya At.”

Future’s joint album with the Toronto MC What A Time To Be Alive was also certified platinum in March.

Future has been in the news lately, as his set at the Roots Picnic was plagued by sound issues. The rapper’s Hot 97’s Summer Jam performance was also scrapped due to a storm swirling in the area, in addition to a riot that occurred in the crowd.

Additionally, the MC is currently the target of a lawsuit from fellow Atlanta rapper Rocko for breach of contract involving his albums, including DS2.

Rocko To Sue Future For Over 10 Million For Breach Of Contract

(AllHipHopNews) Rocko, CEO of A1 Recordings is suing Future for over 10 million dollars according to TMZ.  The rapper claims that Future agreed to a contract in 2011 that would allow A1 Recordings to host his first six albums.

Things quickly went down hill however, as Rocko alleges that Future then signed a deal with Epic to dsitrbute the albums and then followed that up by cutting a side deal with Epic that gave him access to million dollar advances.

Furthermore, Rocko claims that the Freebandz CEO owes him a commission of 25% from the advances he received from Epic in addition to a commission of 20% from revenue Future earned from touring and endorsements among other things.

The two Atlanta rappers have had differences in the past over claims Rocko made of introducing Future to LA Reid and giving him a jumpstart in his career, claims which Future have refuted.

Rocko is best known for his hit track “UOENO”.  Future on the other hand just released the video for his track “Wicked” from his January project “Purple Reign” and recently achieved his first platinum solo album in “Dirty Sprite 2”.  Future is also currently on his Summer Sixteen tour with Drake.

Institute Of Hip Hop Entrepreneurship Accepting Applications For First Class

(AllHipHop News) The Institute of Hip Hop Entrepreneurship (IHHE) is looking for applicants.

imageThe IHHE integrates Hip-Hop culture and practices into a hands-on training program. Philadelphia based Little Giant Creative runs the institute.

“With a poverty rate at 28.4 percent and a failing public school system, today’s youth face significant barriers to finding success, let alone a platform on which to build their dreams,” said Tayyib Smith, Founder of Little Giant Creative. “It’s an ironic status quo considering Philadelphia’s historic role in the development of Hip-Hop as a genre and cultural movement. Through the IHHE, we’ll build on this creative legacy by empowering nontraditional, underserved youth with the tools they need to achieve success on their own terms.”

The 9-month program is open to Philadelphians between the ages of 18 and 32. Each weekend-long session will focus on a new aspect of building a business by engaging in group work and team projects, competing in friendly competitions, and pitching their businesses to investors.

“Far too often, young people with real ambitions are overlooked by existing educational and business communities and programs,” added Meegan Denenberg, partner at Little Giant’s parent company, Meta Global. “Our goal is to have graduates with the skills, confidence, and networks to be successful in Philadelphia’s wider business community.”

IHHE is accepting applications now through September 1st. To apply visit www.ihhe.org/application.

Serena Willams: Don’t Blame Drake For My Grand Slam Upset

Tennis ace Serena Williams has assured fans Drake was not to blame for her 2015 U.S. Open defeat.

The two pals were rumored to be dating at the time and many people piled on Drake when the world’s number one missed out on a Grand Slam when she was upset by Italian Roberta Vinci, but Serena insists her performance had nothing to do with the rap star, who was in the crowd.

“I don’t think that (criticism) was fair,” she told Glamour magazine. “I’m the one who’s playing, who’s making mistakes or making winners. I’m not one to blame anyone else for anything. And I don’t think anyone else should either.

“I played a really good opponent that day. And I wasn’t at my best.”

This year, there is no rapper to blame for her loss in this year’s Grand Slam to Garbine Muguruza.

If it’s any consolation, Serena Williams just unseated (cheater) Maria Sharapova as the highest-paid female athlete in the world with earnings of just under $29 million.

French Montana Responds To Chinx’s Mother’s Accusations (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Veronica Clinton, the mother of the late Lionel “Chinx” Pickens, recently expressed her disappointment that her son’s label head French Montana has not reached out to her since the rapper was murdered in 2015.

French was a guest on The Wendy Williams Show this week, and the Coke Boys leader was asked about Clinton’s complaints.

“I love Chinx’s mom, but I think me and her never had a relationship,” said French. “I never spoke to her when he was alive. I might have spoke to her one time. The second time I spoke to her was at the funeral.”

Clinton did mention that she and French spoke at Chinx’s memorial service.

“I asked French, ‘Why did y’all do that to my child?’ He said, ‘Because he wouldn’t listen,’” claimed Clinton. “I told French, ‘You’re not his father, but I am his mother.’ And there were no more words after that.”

French gave Wendy a slightly different version of that conversation.

“She asked me, ‘What’s going on with my son?’ I said, ‘I can’t… I don’t know,'” recalled French. “I was like, ‘I told him to stay out the streets. Like don’t be driving around 4 in the morning just you by yourself or you with another person.’ She said, ‘You’re not his father.’ I said, ‘Okay.’ That was it.”

The Bronx rhymer also stated he never made any money off of Chinx. French then made the point that he helped his protégé build a better life for himself and his family.

“I think I did my job,” added French.

The City Of Queens Honoring A Tribe Called Quest With Mural

According to TMZ, legendary super Hip-Hop group A Tribe Called Quest will be recognized for their accomplishments by their native Queens.

A side of Nu-Clear Dry Cleaners, which was featured in the cult classic “Check The Rhime” music video, will be adorned with a mural of the the group.

Linden Boulevard in Queens will be the lucky local for the mural and many are hoping that the street itself which is where the cleaners is located may eventually be renamed or simultaneously named A Tribe Called Quest Blvd.

Founding group member Jarobi White called upon fans to help get a street renamed as a testament to his fallen group mate and best friend Phife Dawg in April of this year.

Super fans responded by petitioning to get Linden Boulevard between 192nd and 193rd streets to be renamed A Tribe Called Quest Blvd.

Councilman Daneek Miller reports that there have been no objections to the paperwork that has been filed, so he is expecting the mural project to be a go in the coming months.

A mock-up of the mural by Midnight Marauders cover designer Vince Ballentine is said to have been commissioned.
