Lil Wayne Has How Many Unreleased Tracks With Juelz Santana?

(AllHipHop Rumors) It looks like we may be lucky enough to get some new heat from Wayne and Juelz!

According to Juelz Santana, he and Lil Wayne have recorded at least 20 unreleased tracks together.

As you know, Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter V’ is one of the most anticipated albums of this year.

Cool of Cool & Dre previously revealed that he’d been in the studio cooking up with Wayne, and Now Juelz says he and Wayne have so many tracks together that still haven’t even seen the light! It makes me wonder will he drop any this year.

Santana sat down with Complex where he detailed his forthcoming “comeback”. Juelz revealed that he lost a good amount of their collaborative music back in 2011 when he was arrested on drug and weapon charges.

“When the police raided my studio, I had about 100 records. I had my hard drive back I had nothing. Sh-t was erased. I think I got a couple more records left for Wayne we didn’t put out from that time but a lot of records were on that hard drive.”

“Wayne may still have the records. He would send me his verse, I would send him my verse,” said Juelz.

Unfortunately Juelz lost his studio during his legal trouble. He considered it to be a major loss also because the studio was home to many recording artists.

While I know that some may argue that the music may sound a little bit dated, I’d still love to hear it. I bet you its 100 times better than most of today’s music.

Juelz maintains that he and Wayne are still very close, and they could drop a project right now. Do you think Juelz will be on ‘Tha Carter V’? Would you like to seem them drop a mixtape together?

Common Says Hollywood Is Becoming More Diverse For Minorities

(AllHipHop News) Piles of snow and freezing weather could not keep Hip-Hop star Common away from the Sundance Film Festival to promote his new film, “Burning Sands.”

Common is serving as executive producer of “Burning Sands,” which centers around “Hell Week” on a college campus, where a pledge must honor the frat code, or fight against the violence of underground hazing.

The movie stars Trevor Jackson, Alfre Woodard, Serayah, Nafessa Williams and others.

During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter at Sundance, Common said he believed the timing for movies like “Burning Sands,” since Hollywood is making a push to diversify the images shown on screen.

“I think we’re in a great place,” Common told The Hollywood Reporter. “I think the world is already ready for it, ready to see just diversity. As human beings on the base level, we connect with each other. I think we’re seeing films that are showing [at Sundance].”

Common’s observations about diversity are correct.

This year, seven of the 20 actors nominated for an Academy Award are nonwhite. Compare that to last year (2016), where there were no actors of color represented at all.

A full backlash ensued, which created the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite.

Academy Awards President Cheryl Boone Isaacs, who is an African-American, announced sweeping changes to ensure diversity amongst the films nominated in the future.

And earlier this week, it was announced that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith were teaming with the Sundance Institute to help encourage diversity amongst independent filmmakers and artists.

“I think we’re making a statement without having to preach,” Common said of filmmakers like Pharrell Williams and Jay Z, just two of the rappers who have big films premiering at Sundance during the annual festival.

“Everything doesn’t have to be only protests…because it’s about us understanding each other. It’s about us understanding as human beings,” Common explained. “For us as viewers to get the experience we see in ‘Burning Sands,’ we get a better understanding of what it is to be a young, black man growing up trying to find himself.”

“Burning Sands,” is slated to premiere on Netflix this March. The movie stars Trevor Jackson, Alfre Woodard, Serayah, Nafessa Williams and others.

Is Mary J. Blige Dating This ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Actor?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Mary J. Blige may be hinting that’s she ready to get back to LOVE.

By now, everyone knows that the Queen of Hip Hop Soul has been going through a nasty divorce with her husband of 12 years, Kendu Isaacs.

Mary J. Blige posted and deleted a couple of tweets that definitely got folks talking.

Mary posted a photo of her and ‘Straight Outta Compton’ actor Jason Mitchell together with a caption that said “Do you like.”, and another post of an article with a headline that the two were in fact dating.

The tweets were quickly deleted, and Mary hasn’t made any further comment on the matter, so maybe her account was hacked.

Maybe Aunt Mary is getting her groove back. Blige and Mitchell have been spotted together due to their work on ‘MudBound’, which is showing at Sundance.

The photos that were posted came from promotional IG photos that Mitchell had posted to promote the film.

Listen, I’ve seen it all, and I don’t put anything past anyone, so the two could in fact be hooking up. Only two things help after a nasty break up: rebound hook up, or time to yourself to heal. Who knows which route Mary is taking.

Would you date Mary J. today?

EXCLUSIVE: D.R.A.M. On Pushing Positive Vibes & Unity Through His Art

(AllHipHop Features) America is at a point in its history where different sides of the political spectrum continue to turn further away from each other. Hip Hop’s role in illuminating voices that tell truth to power is more vital than ever, but the culture has also accepted the important mandate of bringing different groups together under the umbrella of artistic expression.

It’s necessary that some emcees focus on that first task of speaking out for people without a national platform. Since music does have the power to influence the masses, that second function of Hip Hop helps move society forward as well.

Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith’s brand of artistry is centered around the idea of uniting listeners through his collection of tunes. Known professionally as D.R.A.M., the Hampton, Virginia native says he is experiencing the power of inclusivity on his current tour.

“It’s so many different races, ages, and walks of life that come out to a D.R.A.M. show. That whole thing, in general, is crazy because it’s not really a segregated type of fan base,” the Grammy nominee tells AllHipHop.com. “We’re on some whole world wide type of sh-t. I’m very happy about that.”

“The Big Baby D.R.A.M. Tour is a point of pride for the “Broccoli” rhymer. He refers to the international headlining trek as “special” and “different.” Every night a band hits the stage with D.R.A.M. as the crowd gets to hear live renditions of songs from his debut eponymous album.

The 14-track LP is a cohesive melding of Rap, Soul, Pop, and Funk. After listening to cuts such as “Monticello Ave” and “WiFi,” it’s not difficult to recognize the influence of several generations worth of musicians on the Big Baby D.R.A.M. project.

D.R.A.M. has always been very conscious about tipping his hat to Parliament-Funkadelic for being one of the most impactful acts on his style. When confronted with addressing the thought of being that same type of symbol for one of his fans, the 28-year-old vocalist offered a reflective response.

“I think that’s the beauty of it all. That’s the full circle part of it. I think that’s the reason why we do it,”  D.R.A.M. states. “I’m just forever grateful that someone could find inspiration through me.”

With a collaborative EP alongside R&B legend Erykah Badu in the works, D.R.A.M.’s mission of advancing good vibrations is continuing beyond the tour. The performer – whose stage name stands for “Does. Real. Ass. Music.” – is pushing through his own daily troubles to promote positive moments for audiences that appreciate his work.

“I just want to keep the good vibes going,” says D.R.A.M. “I’m a grown man. Every day I go through ups and downs just like the next person, but this is still a representation of what you want out of things.”

He adds, “I don’t give out the good vibes to get them back in return. I like to be liked and I like being around people that I like. I feed off the good energy. If you approach the situation with love and positivity, nine times out of ten, it comes right back to you.”

Michael Jackson’s Daughter Paris Jackson Says “I Consider Myself Black”

(AllHipHop News) The daughter of Michael Jackson has given a rare in-depth interview with Rolling Stone.

Paris Jackson used the cover story to speak about her often discussed parentage.

MJ’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe is widely accepted as Paris’ mother, but many people have questions about her father.

Unlike her brother Prince Jackson, Paris has no problem publicly stated she confidently believes Michael is her biological dad.

“He is my father,” says Paris. “He will always be my father. He never wasn’t, and he never will not be. People that knew him really well say they see him in me, that it’s almost scary.”

The 18-year-old is so convinced about her direct lineage to the King of Pop she identifies herself as his ethnicity.

“I consider myself black,” declared Paris.

She continued, “[My dad] would look me in the eyes and he’d point his finger at me and he’d be like, ‘You’re black. Be proud of your roots.’ And I’d be like, ‘OK, he’s my dad, why would he lie to me?’ So I just believe what he told me. ‘Cause, to my knowledge, he’s never lied to me.”

“Most people that don’t know me call me white,” added Paris. “I’ve got light skin and, especially since I’ve had my hair blond, I look like I was born in Finland or something.”

In the RS article, Paris also discussed being sexually assaulted, attempting suicide, her current relationship with Rowe, and growing up with one of the most famous people in the world as her father.

Another notable segment of the interview focused on MJ’s 2009 death. Paris believes the entertainment icon was murdered.

“It’s obvious. All arrows point to that. It sounds like a total conspiracy theory and it sounds like bullsh-t, but all real fans and everybody in the family knows it. It was a setup. It was bullsh-t.”

Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi Talks Sremm Life Crew & Looking For The Next Erykah Badu (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd are still flying high from the success of the group’s #1 single “Black Beatles.”

While the record still maintains a Top 3 position on the Hot 100 chart, Jxmmi is working to launch other acts under the Rae Sremmurd umbrella with the Sremm Life Crew.

“Sremm Life Crew is a label. It’s a Mississippi label,” he explained to DJ Smallz. “It’s going to be big. It’s going to be massive. It’s a way for people where I’m from to get heard, people from a lot of places to get heard. It’s a work in progress.”

Jxmmi and his brother Swae Lee are originally from Tupelo, Mississippi.

The EarDrummers representatives are now based in Atlanta.

The roster of Sremm Life Crew is currently made up of close associates/family members, but Jxmmi is looking for a female artist to add to the label.

“I’m looking for a dope female, but the thing is, it’s not really about looks,” added the rhymer. “I really like music, so I’m looking for… I hope I run into the next Erykah Badu or the next something crazy that I can’t take my mind off.”

Chrisette Michele Talks Trump Inauguration, Spike Lee, Questlove & More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The backlash toward Chrisette Michele for performing at Donald Trump’s Presidential Inauguration was widespread.

Even other celebrities like Spike Lee, Questlove, and Talib Kweli criticized the R&B singer for what came off to many as an endorsement of Trump’s divisive rhetoric and policy positions.

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Michele expressed she did not vote for Trump and does not support some of his more controversial statements.

She also explained her decision to perform for Trump was centered around the idea of starting conversations about political differences.

“I needed them to see us. I needed them to see what we have to say, what we look like, how we talk,” said the “No Political Genius” vocalist. “With the entire campaign experience, many of us were wondering, “Who’s he talking to?” You’d hear something and you’d say, ‘Why does he think it’s okay to talk to “us” like that?’ So I needed him to see what ‘us’ looks like.”

Michele denied reports she made $250,000 for the gig, but she would not reveal the actual amount she was paid.

In addition, the Grammy winner addressed the reaction from Spike Lee over her choice to perform last week.

The legendary filmmaker announced he pulled a Chrisette Michele song from his upcoming Netflix remake of She’s Gotta Have It.

“He’s one of my – and we can disagree or agree on this term – peers. In other words, we’re both people who create, we’re both artists who bring things to media,” stated Michele about Lee. “So the reason why something that came from his mouth would be disappointing – more than hurtful – it’s disappointing because he’s a person who’s supposed to teach me how to create this art and how to get it out. He’s the person who created Crooklyn and is telling people he’s not going to pay for a song he never called me about. So teach me, please.”

She then responded to Questlove’s previous offer to pay her not to perform at the Inauguration, “I would have paid him to perform. That’s where it’s at. If Questlove, who I’ve worked with on his music, doesn’t know that I didn’t go there for money, then we don’t know each other.”

Michele also stated she feels the message of her performance “absolutely” reached Donald Trump even though the President was not present at the Liberty Ball during her set and she did not speak to him directly.

The Breakfast Club interview ended with Michele sending another final shot at Spike Lee.

“That’s why I wrote the poetry because that is to us. That’s to say, ‘Guys, I know you may not like what I did. But if we can’t speak then I’m not going to be able to do anything different. God forbid I have to use somebody else’s money. Cause Spike Lee don’t got me,” declared Michele.

Killer Mike Offers Advice To White Liberals Fearful Of Donald Trump’s Policies

(AllHipHop News) Killer Mike was one of the most visible surrogates for Bernie Sanders’ presidential run.

The Independent Vermont senator did not become the Democratic nominee last year, but some of his supporters are still very active in bringing awareness to the issues favored by Sanders.

Some of those progressive policies may not be a priority in the new Republican administration of Donald Trump.

The huge Women’s March on Saturday was the first major push back against Trump.

However, the multi-city demonstration faced criticism over the fact that many left-leaning white citizens got involved in political action for the first time, as opposed to standing alongside marginalized groups in the past.

Killer Mike spoke with The Huffington Post about how those Caucasians can really make a difference in the Trump Era.

“Go outside of your white liberal, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant circle,” said Mike. “Go find other people and become a part of movements that you don’t lead. Go become a part of movements in which you have to learn from the people who have endured this ― since Reagan, since Nixon ― and you will start to see what they have had to do to thrive and survive. And you guys will learn and you guys will devise strategies together.”

The Run The Jewels member had words for his fellow African-Americans as well.

“It is up to us to express that ― and if you gotta write them off, if they just don’t get it, f-ck ‘em. Find another white friend to teach. But we cannot throw everyone out,” stated Mike.

Georgia Tech Offers College Course To Explore OutKast’s Lyrics, Trap Music & Social Justice

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop culture being taught as a college course is not a new concept.

Several acts such as Kanye West Jay Z, 2Pac, and Sean “Diddy” Combs have been the central subject of lessons at various institutions across the country.

Students at Atlanta’s Georgia Institute of Technology can now study Grammy winners OutKast as well as other Southern standouts like Goodie Mob, UGK, Eightball & MJG, T.I., Jeezy, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Future, Migos, 21 Savage, and Lil Yachty.

“It’s a course that uses new metaphors for exploring contemporary rap music,” professor Dr. Joycelyn Wilson relayed to HipHopDX. “One of my metaphors is ‘The Outkast Imagination’ and the other metaphor is ‘trap.’ Both allow us to broaden and deepen our understandings of the music within a larger tradition of cultural expression.”

“The Outkast Imagination” is also the name of Wilson’s TEDx lecture which covers the benefits of using Hip Hop in the classroom.

For some observers, the “Exploring the Lyrics of Outkast and Trap Music to Explore Politics of Social Justice” class at Georgia Tech using Trap music – which tends to focus on drugs, street life, and violence – as an educational device may seem counterproductive.

Wilson explained why she believes the rap subgenre is a valuable tool for her objective of educating her students.

“Studying Hip Hop, particularly from the Atlanta perspective, we are able to explore trap as an ideology of self-determination, social justice, and civic engagement. They are the next generation of STEM leaders,” she stated. “My hope is they can take these basic principles and fundamental truths and apply them to their work-life after graduation. That’s the overarching goal, aim and mission of the course. Hip Hop is therefore the metaphor we use to examine the pedagogical implications of the music.”

The course presents information about non-southern rappers like 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Kanye West, Nas, N.W.A, Public Enemy, Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, and Lauryn Hill as well.

Wilson is also serves as director of the Four Four Beat Project.

Jay Critch & Rich The Kid “Did It Again” In New Visual

Back in August, a rapper out of Brooklyn by the name of Jay Critch set the streets ablaze with his single “Did It Again.” The record then caught the attention of Rich The Kid, who later assisted Critch on the track’s official remix and even signed him to his Rich Forever Music label.

Today, the duo returns with the record’s official visual, directed by Unkut Cinematics and premiered by WSHH. They are also currently on the road for their Rich Forever tour, which kicked off last week.

Taboo Urges Activists To Save Sacred Land From Donald Trump and Fight Dakota Access Pipeline

(AllHipHop News) Black Eyed Peas star Taboo has urged pipeline protesters fighting to save sacred Native American land from developers not to give up the battle after a major win last month.

The singer, who is part Native American, fears activists are too busy celebrating their victory in North Dakota, following a decision by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to re-route the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline, when they should be preparing for the next environmental struggle.

And now newly-elected U.S. leader Donald Trump has reopened the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline debate, Taboo insists there’s no time to sit back.

“We knew that there was still a big war against injustice,” he told TMZ. “We felt like we needed to do whatever we can, because some people were like, Yeah, we did it! Everybody can go home now!’ but it’s never over, especially when we’re dealing with this man who has come into office. He’s unpredictable. You’ve got to be on guard.”

Taboo is a staunch supporter of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation’s fight against the pipeline, and he was part of a weekend rally for Standing Rock at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.

Actress and activist Shailene Woodley was also part of the rally.

On Tuesday (January 24), President Trump announced he had signed orders to move forward with the construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines.
