Ok so the homie Tyler, The Creator has made some pretty wild tracks and music videos over the past few years. From the digital animation to the outlandish unadulterated lyrics, Tyler has always pushed the envelope.
Now with his ODD Future movement in full swing, the Carnival cracking and all of the talent that he worked with under Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All movement poppin, many are beginning to marvel at the genius that is Tyler, The Creator.
Case in point: Tyler’s rapidly growing radio show Golf Radio. In a classic interview with Vince Staples, The Long Beach emcee, we get a perfect example of that as the two talk art and music being art. Pay attention this is a dope convo between two very forward think minds and how they perceive people mimicking their style, their influence and people enjoying their smallest idiosyncrasies.
Damn the trolls got J.K. Rowling and King Chamillionaire in an dynamic duo situation! The Harry Potter author got into an argument about Scottish independence last night and she decided to draw upon her mental Hip-Hop archives to fight back. And she ended up using Chamiionaire’s#### “Ridin’ Dirty.” BOOM. And that BS gets shut down fast.
The first visuals of Devin Kirtz’s new song are fairly disturbing. However, that is a good thing. You, faithful reader, will be pulled into this one quickly. His new song with Marley Waters is a very mellow feel-good summery jam that has an 84-year old woman having the best day ever. By the way…the senior woman in this video is Devin’s real-life grandmother. Enjoy “My Day.”
Argentine/American Future Soul Artist, Devin Kirtz was born and raised in Long Beach, California. Raised on soul and oldies, Devin grew up listening to artists like Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, and then on to Neo-Soul’s best, Lauryn Hill. Although Devin has been singing since he learned how to talk, he first made a name for himself in sports, signing a contract out of high school to play professional soccer. After a few short years, he left the game to put his skills towards his true passion; music. Devin’s charisma quickly gained the attention of International mega-brands, leading to multiple endorsements and traveling the world to host events, perform music, and showcase his freestyle soccer skills to crowds of up to 100,000 people working with brands such as: Nike, Red Bull, Budweiser, Chevy, KIA, and Cheetos.
Captivating, smooth, and the perfect blend of soul, pop, and R&B are all ways that artist on the rise, Devin Kirtz could be described. His latest single, “MOVE” was beautifully paired with a sleek, black and white music video shot in the CA desert, directed by Rob Witt and Alex Delgado [Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, Drake, and Chris Brown etc.] This caught the attention of Power 106 DJ Felli Fel and many other DJs, who went on to play the song on heavy rotation organically. HIs music spread internationally when tracks were picked up by H&M, Nordstrom, and Hollister & Co., who included it on their holiday playlists which were distributed worldwide.
Devin has written/recorded with some of LA’s top producers such as BattleRoy (Bruno Mars, Eminem, Demi Lovato), Marley Waters (Tinashe, DJ Mustard) and Paul Couture (Iggy Azalea, Pit Bull, Shwayze). In addition to his own music, Devin has also written for other artists, including Cody Simpson, Jordin Sparks, Quincy and Jason Mraz to name a few. Growing up on the beach with a strong love for soul and hip-hop music, Devin was the perfect fit to be featured on “Ms. Fortune” the most popular song on Shwayze’s most recent album “Shwayze Summer”, which reached #6 on the iTunes hip-hop charts.
Devin has multiple national tours under his belt, playing sold out shows in top markets including: New York, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Devin also held a six month residency performing at Hyde at The Bellagio in Las Vegas, NV, as well as playing Labor Day Weekend at The Palms with Kendrick Lamar, LL Cool J, and Ashanti.
Devin is set to release his second Single “MY DAY” on Jan. 29th alongside a very special music video featuring his 84 year old Grandmother playing playing the lead role, inspiring us all to be hopefully as cool as her in our later years.
JR Castro takes you into the studio for the visual for his Terrace Martin assisted song “Never Be The Same” off of his upcoming project “You”. The Las Vegas native has made a huge splash since coming on the scene 6 months ago with his Top 10 Hit “Get Home” as well as his recently released collaboration “FMN” with Timbaland and more. Timbaland will serve as executive producer of “You” which releases soon.
Some individuals have taken offense to the candid imagery depicted in Beyoncé’s latest video, “Formation.” Queen B may be encountering the repercussion of some disloyal subjects. Later this year, the Houston-native is set to perform at Tampa, Florida’s Raymond James Stadium.
As usual, the April 29th appearance has already been sold-out. Thus far, not a single Tampa peace office has signed-up to work the scheduled event. The incentive of overtime pay has yet to crumble the perceived blue line of unspoken loyalty. A perplexed Steve Hegarty, Spokesman for the Tampa Police Department is determined to provide apt security for the event, this according to Fox 13.
He explained, “We’re going to staff it because we have a responsibility to do that regardless of how controversial it might be, who the artist might be, or the politician might be.” Welding his optimistic perspective Hegarty then concluded, “This is a couple of months away, so we’ve still got plenty of time to fill those slots.”
(AllHipHop News) Sometimes an MC’s magnum opus may become threatened by lyrical purgatory. To many a listener’s chagrin, shelved or abandoned projects can lead to diminished respect for an artist’s work-ethic. Luckily, the supporters of J Dilla’s art are receiving a reprieve.
The highly-anticipated vocal album, The Diary — which was originally slated for a 2002 release — will drop later this year on April 15, this according to BallerStatus. Both Dilla’s estate and Mass Appeal Records are coming together for the historic event.
A decade of meticulous work was invested into composing this project. Guest appearances range from artists such as Nottz, Snoop, and Bilal. In addiction to Dilla himself, veteran beatsmiths like Pete Rock, and House Shoes are responsible for creating the LP’s cohesive sound.
Although April is months away, one may now listen to “The Introduction.”
Kanye West has certainly had a pretty interesting month. From Twitter rants, SNL meltdowns, skipping out on attending the Grammys (until they give him Album Of The Year), and announcing that he is in debt, Yeezy has been going through a lot. Kanye’s personal woes didn’t stop a few companies from poking fun. P### Hub and Pizza Hut jokingly asked Kanye to contact them so they can help him get his money up. When Kanye announced he wasn’t attending The Grammys, The Recording Academy/ The Grammys asked Kanye was his voting membership even still active. To help Ye get out of debt, fan and graphic designer, Jeremy Piatt has created a GoFundMe account urging everyone to help Kanye out. Mark Zuckerberg may have donated a few coins had Kanye not asked for his help on Twitter. LOL. Oh yeah, and Kylie Jenner moved forward with her Puma deal. Keep your head up Ye. Are you feeling his ‘The Life Of Pablo’ album?
Here Slim Jesus goes again with some sort of controversy and drama. Slim Jesus dropped his 4th song called “Facts.” In the song he takes aim at Lil Mouse asking who he is. He also says he’s [finally] talking real sh*t and rapping about the homies who are going through it. How are you feeling about this one? Any Slim Jesus fans in the house?
Apparently Fetty Wap is a Kodak Black fan. He posted a video of him and @DJBigl4eva dabbin’ and ad libbing it up to Kodak’s “Like Dat.” Perhaps Fetty Wap and Kodak Black will collaborate in the near future? Would you be interested in seeing this collaboration happen? How do you feel about Kodak Black’s music?
Have you ever thought your Uber receipts were extremely high? Well, they can’t possibly be as high as Wale’s! Wale claims he spent $1.1 million on Uber. Wale… ummmm where were you going? At this point we are sure it would be cheaper to hire your own driver. When asked how he spent so much on the popular car service, Wale said,
“Goin to @FrencHMonTanA crib and stayin for dumb long while the meter was on a few times.”
If Wale is using Uber that much, he may want to negotiate some kind of deal with ’em.
When I was a kid, just like most of you who are reading this, my religious beliefs were handed to me from parents who’s beliefs were handed to them. Whether you were raised Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or Taoist, more than likely it was because some adult informed you that worshipping God is what you are supposed to do. I started questioning my belief at an early age, when everybody was able to catch the Holy Ghost except me. I even faked it a couple times to see if maybe the Holy Ghost would be like “Hey, that girl right there is hella down with us” and then come to me for real. It didn’t happen, it actually earned me an ass whooping. Yet, the true turning point was when I found out, in my teens, that Christianity had been forced on Black people during slavery. I was p#####. I felt betrayed and disgusted, and on Sundays when my mom woke me and my sibs up to visit the church my family owned, I would beg not to go. That earned me an ass whooping, too. And it was one of those “You told Harpo to beat me” levels of ass whooping. But you know what? It was totally worth it.
My song “Praying to a God I Don’t Believe In” is the first song I ever wrote about my beliefs. It’s part of a larger project called “Gone But Not // Duality” that is all about making a statement on how the past affects the future. This famous piano player named Lee Musiker did a whole album of really beautiful, original piano pieces, produced by Ira Antelis. Usually, when you are dealing with folks who have worked with superstars like Tony Bennet and Christina Aguilera, you don’t think of them as the kinda people who’s music would be easy to sample. But Lee and Ira actually went looking for producers and artists to remix their stuff, that’s how I got involved. To keep with the concept of the project, I thought about something in my life that is “gone but not,” and the first thing that came to my mind was… well… God. I’m not more enlightened than anybody who’s reading this. I’m just not scared to be honest about what I don’t know.
I have friends of multiple races and have dated my fair share of long-haired white boys, but despite being counterculture I am unapologetically black. So much so that whenever people ask what I’m mixed with, I reply “I’m mixed with slave and other slave.” Just like you, I’m still figuring out life as I go along. Too often, religion takes away personal responsibility and puts it in the hands of the dude in the sky who somehow doesn’t care when children are dying in Israel and Palestine but totally cares about being shouted out during music award ceremonies when some overhyped rapper wins in the “Best New Coon Ni**a” category.
I have seen “God” change the lives of people who are recovering from substance abuse. I have seen thugs become husbands and hoes become housewives. For those people, God is not only real, but necessary. But where was God when I underwent molestation and sexual abuse as a kid? Where was God when I was a teen runaway, cross-dressing so I wouldn’t get caught? Where was God during the Transatlantic Slave Trade, during the Jewish Holocaust or the Bombing of Hiroshima? The same higher power that has been such a loud motivating force for others hasn’t been much more than a quiet whisper for me. I’m not an atheist or an agnostic, because in order for me to pick a title I would need to know where I stand on God. All I know is it’s my job to be a good person, whether the big homey in the sky has my back or not. And that’s why, when people ask me what I believe in, my reply is “I believe in myself.”
(AllHipHop News) Nipsey Hussle and his team are working to celebrate Black History month. On behalf of The Marathon Clothing, the lyrically-adept business-man is helping to cultivate a poignant protest. Its Black Lives Matter Collection boasts six “limited-edition” t-shirts that are a somber reflection of America’s plague of police violence.
Yesterday (Feb. 17), in an Instagrampost, the “Don’t Take Days Off” wordsmith announced that this endeavor is “non-profit.” Against a black background, the word Crenshaw is divided and stacked. Candid black-and-white photos of the snatched souls of people like Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, and Sandra Bland are used to voice a silent cry for equality.
To help encourage the public an economical price point has been established. The emerging entrepreneur wrote, “To bring awareness towards the racial injustices against the black community we present our Black Lives Matter collection, six shirts dedicated to the fallen lives of our black men, woman, and children.”

“Sunny Dayz” by Rodrigo Starz of Hip Hop group Rebel Diaz, featuring Tef Poe and YC the Cynic, and produced by Agent of Change is the 1st song released off Rodrigo Starz new solo album- #FreeFamilyPortraits to be released on Thursday 3/10/16.
“Watch out lil b*tch,” Slim Thug raps on the hook. At that point you know this remix is jammin’ and the perfect visual to roll into Friday-eve. This unadulterated remix to the 2 Chainz hit is a smash that will bang through the Wards of Houston and across the map. Its only a matter of time before Mike “5000” Watts and OG Ron C have this one spinning on radio throughout H-Town. Also look out for Slim’s homies on the track, Dice Soho & Trill Sammy – they add some extra noteworthy flavor as well.
Now, the homie D’Angelo won a Grammy. Here you go:
Record Of The Year
“Really Love”
Best R&B Song
“Really Love”
Best R&B Album
“Black Messiah”
BUT…the question is. Did some straight up revolutionaries get an award with the brother? I am being told “YES.” Dr. Khallid Muhammad and Fred Hampton are both sampled (their voices in speeches) on “Black Messiah” and therefore, when D’Lo won, they won too. I know “we” don’t care about their awards, but STILL!
Check out the song below and I will look into this more.
(AllHipHop News) The Game’s image with Lloyd Banks really got stuff started. Now, 50 Cent has joined and with The Game respond uber-quickly.
Check out it:
50 Cent said:
What do you see when you look at this picture? I see confusion,I’m not sure if it’s just me, I’m a Cancer s### don’t get old with me. I never ask for trouble but I really don’t have a problem with it I’m different. The question isn’t how I feel about it, but how dose ( Lodi Mac ) feel about it? Some s### is just better off left alone.
The Game responded:
In response to “50”……. When I heard banks was in Dubai, I told my n#####, “we’re goin thru to holla”…. My team thought I was on some b####### & thought we was going thru to kick off some b#######… I then told them, “Naw, we ain’t on that… We on the other side of the world enjoying ourselves, 1/2 y’all ain’t never even left LA… So we gone go thru, show banks party love & im going to personally let him know that me & him are ?… It’s been 11 years since I seen banks & the funny thing is, I told myself.. When I got there I was going to go off his energy… & when we seen each other, it was instantly all good energy, so we chopped it.. threw back a few dranks & took a flick for old times sake to kill the negativity & tension that had once tore one of the GREATEST RAP GROUPS ever apart !!! At some point, you gotta be a MAN about certain situations so last night that’s what I decided to do.. It was MY DECISION !!! Whether Buck, gone admit it or not… I talk to that n#### all the time.. As recent as few months ago when I was in Nashville & it was all love…. Don’t front now my n####… This is ME !!! As for me & you “50”… Our past has proven we could both get on some gangsta s### if need be, being that lives have been lost on both sides….. Lives have been taken from friends, & fathers taken from kids.. Which could’ve easily been MY LIFE or YOURS….. If you choose to ignore the GROWN MAN approach & continue to harbor HATE for me & my side… That’s your decision. I can’t speak for Banks, but my pride was swallowed last night along with a shot of Hennesey in that club…… Whatever it’s gone be is what it’s gone be, I said my peace #HateItOrLoveIt
By the way, Young Buck stated that a video of him joking was not a statement on the image with Banks and Game.
Whether referencing Socrates or Dr. Seuss, Hip-Hop’s MCs and rappers speak for the people. From the conventionally educated to the corner PhDs waxed words have worked to connect a global audience. What happens when those words become garbled and verge on unintelligible?
Don’t fret, Young Thug will don his cape and rescue the day. Recently, Thugger stopped by GQand worked to alleviate any angst about the lyrics to his track, “Best Friend.” In his most studious delivery, YT effortlessly summons his panache and a simple reading becomes art.

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (Feb. 17), Bobby Shmurda voiced his opinion on two trending subjects. The Brooklyn rapper opened up on the topics of his staggering $2 million bail and his supposed beef with 50 Cent, this according to ThisIs50.
When discussing his highly contested bail Bobby blasted the New York District Attorney’s office. He suggested, that in addition to woefully experiencing a languished legal system, that his inherent constitutional rights are being violated. “They ain’t trying to give me the deal because they know if I come home, I’ma beat this. So, right now, they trying to hold me in here as long as possible,” said Shmurda.
Bobby believes that the government is working to sabotage his right to due process. “So, they’re trying to hold me in for like three or four years. And then try to give me time served or something but they don’t got nothing on me. I’m not even supposed to still be here,” he then claimed, “I got several lawyers maintaining my case that’s saying that the bail is supposed to be dropped and these charges are supposed to be dropped.”
Next he questioned if his case is being used to build a political legacy. He challenged, “The bail is not even supposed to be high due to the Emory Law Book. But they violating my constitutional rights. They violating my civil rights that they are just flushing it down the toilet for they own political reasons.”
Moving from bail to bars Bobby shot down rumors concerning an alleged beef with 50 Cent. He effectively dismissed the notion he has any problems with the Queens rapper. He insisted, “I don’t do the Rap beef… I don’t got time for all that. First of all, I’m in jail. How I’ma beef with someone when I’m in jail?”
Begging the question, the “Hot Boy” spitter concluded with, “That’s not my character. 50’s cool. So anybody who knows me knows I don’t do that Rap beef sh*t. 50 ain’t never disrespect me.”
Z-Ro continues to reinforce his legacy. With the release of his latest EP, the Mo-City Don proves that he is more than just, Solid. Flexing his pen game, the entrenched metaphors, honest perspective, and unyielding skill of Rother Vandross does not disappoint.
On “That’s What I Did” the listener timetravels with ‘Ro on a lyrical journey from past to present.
