Wale must be feeling generous today as he releases 4 new tracks via his Soundcloud. Listen as Wale connects with Phil Ade for “Illuminate”, Skeme for the Harry Fraud produced “Know Me”, new solo track “New Phone” and a remix of Tove Lo’s 2014 single “Not On Drugs”.
Wale hasn’t reached the level of success that he would like to reach or the level we think he is capable of reaching. Wale recently sat down with The Breakfast Club and shared that he doesn’t feel his latest album, ‘The Album About Nothing,’ was given enough attention by his label, Atlantic Records, and he explained it didn’t resonate with younger fans either because he chose to have it narrated by Jerry Seinfield and not a “Kevin Hart.” When asked by Charlamagne, “What if you don’t ever achieve the level of success that some of your peers have?,” Wale replied saying,
“Simple, I’d blow my brains out one day. I can’t inspire nobody if I don’t believe what I’m saying, and I won’t believe what I’m saying until I obtain the level of success.”
We hope this was a joke. We also hope Wale obtains the level of success he’s striving for, that he talks to someone asap, and that it never gets this bad.

Do we all look alike? A$AP Rocky decided to poke a little harmless fun at a fan recently on Twitter. A young lady was under the impression that she just bumped into A$AP Rocky in NYC. A$AP informed her that he was actually in London, and said it was probably Travis Scott that she saw. The humor in it all is that Travis Scott hates when someone confuses the two.
Wale brought his unfiltered, fiery opinions to his The Breakfast Club.
During their convo, the “The Body” rapper touched on being gay in the music industry. He said he feels like an openly gay rapper could be successful in the game despite their sexuality.
“I would sign a gay rapper if he was dope.,” he said. “It’s 2015. All that homophobic stuff is corny.” He added, “It’a an advantage to be gay in this country right now. Frank Ocean is a very dope artist. He got pushed to the moon when his album dropped. There were about 30 artists who sold about the amount that he did or more and they didn’t get none of that. He got a prime spot at the Grammys. All these things happened for him.”
The D.C spitter also spoke about his latest album, The Album About Nothing, which he said he feels wasn’t given enough attention by his label, Atlantic Records. The project was narrated by comedian Jerry Seinfeld which he said he knows affected the way it resonated with young fans.
“I know if it was Kevin Hart it would’ve been received a lot better,” he said. “It wasn’t really about [Seinfeld] though. It was about the philosophies that he was bestowing upon me.”
Wale also gave his opinion on the beef between Drake and MMG brethren Meek Mill. He said called Drizzy on Twitter wasn’t a good look nor he did he hold his own during the battle.
“I honestly think he brought a pencil to a gun fight,” Wale said about Meek’s part in the battle. “You can’t compete with somebody who [has those] types of relationships…He could have wrote ‘Ether 3.0.’ The opinions of the people would have been that of their boy from Canada waxed him.”

According to Radar Online, there is a tell-all on the way titled ‘Becoming Beyonce’ by celebrity journalist J. Randy Taraborrelli. Taraborrelli claims that Bey and Jay Z began fighting over her obsessive dedication to her work back in 2005, and her obsession with her work put a wedge in between her and Jay as it caused her to become defensive and moody when she was overwhelmed with pressure. Allegedly the couple took a break in ’05, and this is when rumors began to swirl that Jay Z was romancing Rihanna, who was 17 at the time. Allegedly Jay made up scandalous stories to attract attention to Rihanna’s career. Whether the hook up was true or not, Taraborrelli claims that Bey believed the gossip. The author also claims that the infamous elevator battle between Jay Z and Solange was over Jay’s suggestion that they attend a party hosted by Rihanna. There have been rumors that Beyonce doesn’t care for Rihanna, and that Rihanna has been the other woman for years, however I don’t remember if we’ve ever heard that the rumors surrounding Jay and Ri were fabricated to help her career. What are your thoughts?
I interviewed Slim Jesus. There I said it. I admit this openly. But, I didn’t want to. A friend of mine approached me and he asked that I do it. Now, this wasn’t just anybody, it was a friend that works closely with some of the most lyrical guys in the game. His name shall remain unstated, but he made a good case for interviewing the viral rap star that has well over 12 million views upon his “Drill Time” song alone. There’s a need to contextualize this phenomenon, love it or loathe it.
So, I rounded up the team and threw in an A3C performance to boot. I felt the A3C would be a good gauge of the present day Hip-Hop audience, and I don’t mean the faceless commenters. I mean those people that leave the house, take in a show and maybe still purchase music. Slim Jesus took to the same stage, same audience that housed Trae Tha Truth, Gunplay, Stalley, Jon Conner and others in The Basement, an underground ATL Spot. He made it out alive, with only a few heckles. Today’s rap fan is a nicer, kinder hybrid in the flesh even though the comment section of your favorite outlet would suggest otherwise.
While his music may turn some off, in real life, Easton Phillips is a pretty nice kid. “I try to stay humble about it,” he said. “I try to stay real, real cool.” When I was finally face-to-face with Slim Jesus, he was flanked by a few quiet dudes (one of which we found out was his dad). Then, I was wondering…is this guy safe? He doesn’t do happy rap…he does drill music. This is the soundtrack to the Chicago streets, where the murder rate is the highest in the nation. At any rate, Slim Jesus, a native of Hamilton, Ohio (just outside of Cincinnati), answered every question. Only thing…this kid has no street cred by his own admission. In this interview, everything comes up: from Slim Shady to Chief Keef to death threats to Black Jesus. Ah, why bother with more rhetoric? Check out the video interview below.
Chris Rock will be taking over the hosting duties for The Oscars this year. The actor/director will be taking the stage at the 88th Oscars ceremony on February 28th, 2016.
“Chris may be best known as a stand-up comic, but we think of him as a creative innovator in many other ways. He is unafraid in his artistry,” Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome him back to the Oscars.”
Rock is also excited to be returning to the Oscars stage.
“I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” he said also in a statement. “It’s great to be back.”
The Top Five star also hosted the ceremony back in 2005, but was not well received by the crowd. He was even scolded by Sean Penn for his edgy jokes.
The awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and will be live via ABC at 7:00 p.m EST/4:00 p.m PT.
Love & Hip Hop Hollywood was turned upside down recently when Miles came out of the closet and revealed to Amber that he was gay. Miles has seemed to act as if he was truly in the closet, and as if no one ever came to him about allegedly being gay over the years. Many who watched the show said that it was obvious early on. Rumor has it that a source close to Miles said that Miles has always been known to be gay, and Amber knew he was. Miles had been struggling with being openly gay and with being an openly gay rapper. His storyline and the fact that homosexuality has been taboo in Hip Hop even lead to VH1 airing a special called ‘LHH: Out In Hip-Hop’ a special about gays in rap. Some people seemed to have been more concerned with Miles being on the down low than his sexuality.
Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell Broadus dropped a bombshell via his Instagram last night (Oct. 20). In a birthday post dedicated to his father, the former UCLA Bruins player revealed that he only played football because he thought that was the only way to get his father to love him and be apart of his life.
Broadus quit the team back in August to focus on film and his company, Film School Productions. He was one of top 40 football recruits coming out of California. The 18-year-old played in his father’s Snoop Youth Football League and when he decided to attend UCLA, he was one of the 20 players from the league to sign on to play for a major college football team.
Amber Rose has a bone to pick with GQ. In their latest feature about her, “Amber Rose: How to be a Bad B—h,” they opened the article with a blurb that refers to her as “Wiz Khalifa’s baby mama,” “Kanye West’s ex” and a “teen stripper.” The model/actress vented via her Instagram saying she was highly disappointed with the way she was portrayed.
GQ has not responded. Read the full feature here.
Writers behind the FOX hit series Empire are taking their talents to the big screen. Billboard reports that Malcolm Spellman and Carlito Rodriguez have been chosen by Warner Bros. to tell the story of Sugar Hill Records co-founder Sylvia Robinson, who is known as “The Mother of Hip-Hop.”
She, along with her husband Joe Robinson, founded the label in the 1970s. Robinson was the main force behind the first mainstream rap record, “Rapper’s Delight” and “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.
The film will focus on the early beginnings of the genre and show aspiring hip-hop execs competing to release the first rap song.
Robinson had her own run in the music industry dating back to the 1950s. She released “Love Is Strange” in 1957 which hit no.1 and “Pillow Talk” in 1973. She began producing records in the 1960s.
Robinson died Sept. 29th, 2011 of congestive heart failure.
(AllHipHop News) Two of the new cast members on the VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop Hollywood have sparked conversations across the country about Hip Hop’s acceptance of openly gay rappers. The appearance of Miles “Sir” Brock and Milan Christopher as the first gay couple on the show led to the network airing a special program titled LHH:Out In Hip Hop.
The T.J. Holmes-hosted program featured several LHHH stars like Miles, Milan, Ray J and Lil Fizz. Several LGBT performers including Big Freedia and Siya where part of the show as well.
Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels of the iconic rap group Run-D.M.C. was among the panelists. McDaniels also participated in a one-on-one video interview where he discussed homophobia in Hip Hop.
“You’re cool in Hip Hop being gay as long as you ain’t rapping. You can be the gay cameraman. You can be the gay make-up person. You can be the gay everything else, except being a gay rapper – which is crazy,” said the legendary emcee. “Hip Hop is crazy because they disrespect gay people, but they run around and wear all the stuff gay designers wear.”
This past Monday’s episode of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood became a trending topic on Twitter. The show featured Miles revealing to his high school sweetheart and his family that he is attracted to men.
“It’s cool that Love & Hip Hop is [addressing homophobia], but it’s not a Hip Hop issue,” D.M.C. added. “It’s a people issue.”

(AllHipHop News) Top Dawg Entertainment emcee Kendrick Lamar was given a rare honor for a Hip Hop artist. The Compton native was tapped to perform his critically acclaimed album To Pimp A Butterfly at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Lamar was backed by the National Symphony Orchestra for his one night only “NSO Pops” performance in Washington, DC. Back in September, the musical event completely sold out during the pre-sales period.
“It is pretty incredible,” said NSO Pops conductor Steven Reineke prior to the show. “This is going to be quite an adventure because you have two very, very different worlds colliding, from a full symphony classical orchestra, with the world of Hip Hop. But it’s not something we’re totally unfamiliar with.”
The Kennedy Center has released footage from its “NSO Pops with Kendrick Lamar” concert. A YouTube video shows the Grammy-winning rapper performing “These Walls” for the packed house.

(AllHipHop News) Many fans have been patiently waiting for the arrival of Money & Violence season two. It has been over 8 months since the first season of the street saga ended, and now there is good news involving the Brooklyn-based web series.
At last night’s TIDAL X: 1020 concert, Hustle Gang leader T.I. helped announce season 2 of Money & Violence will premiere on the entertainment platform Tidal. The program’s cast was at the venue to share the news with the crowd.
“Season 2, January 2016 on Tidal,” revealed writer/director Moise Vernau. “Brooklyn we did it.”
While Tidal is mostly known for streaming music and live concert events, the platform has also allowed users to watch scripted content such as Jeymes Samuel’s 50-minute film They Die By Dawn starring Erykah Badu, Michael K. Williams, and Rosario Dawson.

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop legend Jay Z gave Jimmy Kimmel a rare television interview this week. The Roc Nation boss stopped by Kimmel’s late night ABC program on Tuesday to help promote the TIDAL X: 1020 concert event in Brooklyn.
Jay sat down with Kimmel to talk about battling fellow BK emcee Busta Rhymes in high school and the changes taking place in his home borough. The conversation included a discussion about the Tidal streaming service as well.
“It’s better. It’s better sound. It’s better everything,” said Jay about Tidal’s lossless audio compared to its competitors. “They want people to believe that you don’t care about sound and quality.”
He added, “Just think of it like a big jukebox… This way you put $9 in and you get 30 million songs. And you can take the jukebox and put it in your pocket.”
The Blueprint album creator was also asked about taking on the task of being a sports agent with Roc Nation Sports. According to Hov, the people off the field are obligated to help prevent the financial failings of the sports stars they sign.
“No one ever talks about the agent. [It’s just,] ‘the dumb athlete.’ The agent goes on about their business,” stated Jay. “But it’s also the agent’s responsibility to take care of these kids.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live also aired Jay’s performance of “Empire State Of Mind” from the TIDAL X: 1020 event at the Barclays Center. Jay Z closed out the concert that also featured Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Usher, Nas, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, T.I., and many more.

Fans can watch a replay of the entire TIDAL X: 1020 here. Other acts to perform included Nas, Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Fabolous, T.I., Young Dro, French Montana, and Vic Mensa. 100% of the total tickets’ face value proceeds went to support charities via New World Foundation.
(AllHipHop News) The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has launched musicfuels.com. The website is a new online tool used to track the follow numbers of the top accounts on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
“There are many reasons why musicians are often the most popular figures on social media. It’s partly because music speaks to us in a personal, evocative and human way, more so than any other art form. It is that connection to the music – and the performer giving it life – that draws fans in,” writes RIAA Chairman/CEO Cary Sherman. “The research firm MusicWatch recently confirmed this, finding that connecting through music and artists had the highest importance to users’ social media experience. Clearly, artists are tastemakers and cultural drivers.”
A look at the current Music Fuels tallies show when combining all three social media platforms Taylor Swift lands in the top spot with 189,730,625 followers. The pop superstar is followed by Justin Bieber with 182,929,888 followers and Katy Perry with 178,600,201 followers.
Rihanna is at #4. The Bajan songstress has 161,303,183 social media followers. Beyoncé sits at #7 with 126,334,981 followers, and Eminem is ranked at #9 with 118,046,011 followers.
When just looking at Instagram, the queen of the BeyHive jumps to #3. Beyoncé currently has 48,497,087 followers on the site. YMCMB rapper Nicki Minaj joins her with 36,295,736 IG followers.
Eminem and Rihanna both break into the top 5 on Facebook. Slim Shady (#4) has over 92 million likes and RiRi (#5) has over 81 million likes on FB respectively. Michael Jackson, Will Smith, and Bob Marley make the top ten of the Mark Zuckerberg created platform as well.
Lupe Fiasco is prepping The Cool 2, the follow-up to the seminal album of a similar name.
In the meantime, the Chi-town representative gave fans a glimpse of the artwork for the looping opus on his Twitter account.
