Ahhhhh man what happened to Hip Hop is the question on many people’s mind daily. Lately Omelly & Young Thug have been on the receiving end of jokes and memes for their less than satisfactory freestyles. This makes you miss the Rap City days for sure and appreciate battle rappers even more. The question is… who’s freestyle was the worst one?
Well it looks like August Alsina is on his Fetty Wap stage! A side chick woman claims that she is pregnant by him, and she is tired of hiding it and playing side chick. So apparently no one is using condoms huh? The woman called August a cry baby and says that he begged her to get an abortion. She also claims that August doesn’t want her near any other man while he is back with another one of his girls time and time again. People have to do better from both sides. SMH! Do you think August has a baby on the way, or is this just another woman seeking fame and attention?
Nicki Minaj is now venturing into the fashion world. The Head Barb has announced via Instagram that she will be unveiling her line at K-Mart on Black Friday. The “Only” rapper will also be premiering a limited edition couture line via a new website.
Fabolous and Jeezy fans get ready! A joint mixtape between the two hosted by DJ Drama/ Gangsta Grillz may be on the way! Is this what you’ve been waiting for? Fab took to his Instagram to say,
“Last night I had a dream about a Jeezy & Fab Gansta Grillz mixtape album. Maybe it wasn’t just a dream.”
Do you think this will be a good joint effort? Hey we liked Jeezy & Fabolous’ past collaborations.
Safaree is about to file a lawsuit against his ex, Nicki Minaj, TMZ reports. SB Stunts is suing for profits from albums that he has contributed to which include, The Pinkprint, Pink Friday and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Nicki’s former flame also wants a portion of royalties from her mega hits “Only,” “Feeling Myself” and “Flawless (Remix).”
There is no doubt that the Brooklyn native was apart of her music making process, as he is credited as the executive producer on Pink Friday and The Pinkprint.
Safaree reportedly has a slew of evidence including video footage of him and Minaj in the studio, voice memos from studio sessions, and other videos of them working together.
In Plies has no chill ever news, the rapper recently invited Gospel star Kirk Franklin to the popular strip club King Of Diamonds. Kirk Franklin seems to try to hide the fact that he is offended by offering to walk by the strip club if Plies comes to a 3 hour church service with him. Fix it Jesus literally! There is humor in them making any kind of deal as memes have been floating around for years suggesting that the two of them were long lost brothers as they resemble each other a little. Do you think they will shake on their church and strip club deal?
(AllHipHop News)Sports Illustrated declared Ronda Rousey was “unbreakable” on the publication’s cover in May. But that description was proven wrong when Rousey was knocked out in the second round of her fight with Holly Holm this weekend.
Besides being referred to as the best pound-for-pound female MMA fighter and even the “Best Female Athlete Ever,” Rousey also made headlines for her back-and-forth with undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Money Team leader’s frenemy, 50 Cent, used Rousey’s upset defeat at UFC 193 to take a few shots at the 28-year-old mix martial artist.
50 added memes to his Instagram page that made fun of Rousey being knocked out. One IG post featured the Queens mogul writing, “LMAO. Floyd told me to post this. He wants me to do the dirty work.”
(AllHipHop News) Paris, France was rocked by coordinated terror attacks on Friday which left at least 129 people dead. The militant Islamic group ISIS claimed responsibility for the carnage. In response, many people are taking issue with all followers of Islam being tied to terrorist actions. One of those people is Morocco-born rapper and Muslim French Montana.
“Don’t blame it on Muslims,” French told a TMZ photog. “Blame it on crazy people.”
According to HuffPost, some French citizens are joining together to support the country’s Islamic population. A multi-faith “Rally With Muslims Of France For Peace And National Unity” is scheduled to take place at Paris’ Grand Mosque. Nearly 8,000 people have expressed interest in attending. In addition, the hashtag #MuslimsAreNotTerrorists was trending worldwide on Twitter over the weekend.
There have also been reports of anti-Muslim incidents in Paris in the wake of the attacks. ISIS has threaten to strike other Western targets in the near future as well.
(AllHipHop News) Vince Staples is back to publicly sharing his opinions. The Long Beach emcee caught backlash last month for his statements about 1990’s Hip Hop, and now the Summertime ’06 creator is on video speaking on NBA icon Michael Jordan and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“Michael Jordan is such a scum bag. I love him,” said Vince in an interview with GQ. “Michael Jordan and Donald Trump are the same kind of person. They are the epitome of bad people in America becoming successful.”
Earlier this year, Vince also had some things to say about Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant. He stated, “It’s not that I don’t like him. It’s just that I don’t f*ck with certain things that Kobe does.”
(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year, Tyler, The Creator made it clear Odd Future is no longer as tight of a group as it once was. Fellow members Earl Sweatshirt and Matt Martians also spoke about the collective needing to move on. The outcome from this weekend’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival further confirmed the original OFWGKTA is pretty much done for now.
Tyler took the stage of his festival and told the crowd, “N*ggas got me f*cked up. I put too many n*ggas on. I helped too many of my motherf*cking friends out, and n*ggas gonna come foul? You know who the f*ck I’m talking about n*gga. And yeah this is getting real. I love you though.”
It was unclear which person Tyler was referring to, but former OF rapper/producer Hodgy Beats also used his set at Camp Flog to address his issues with an unnamed individual. The MellowHype and MellowHigh rhymer later jumped on social media and called out Tyler by name. Hodgy even referred to him as a “fraud.”
(AllHipHop News) Back in 2014, Nicki Minaj teamed up with Chicago rapper G Herbo (then known as Lil Herb) for the loose track “Chi-Raq.” Apparently, Herbo was part of the public feud between Nicki and her ex-boyfriend Safaree “SB” Samuels as well.
Herbo stopped by Sway In The Morning to promote his new project Ballin’ Like I’m Kobe. The visit also included Herb discussing his name being mentioned in leaked text messages between Nicki and SB. The alleged texts from Minaj blasted Safaree for showing Herb a gun during a period when the two performers were recording together.
“I thought [the texts] were fake until I read that. I was like, ‘Damn, nah she really sent that cause she wasn’t supposed to know he had [the gun] in there,” revealed Herbo. “She wasn’t even right there. We was in a whole other area when he showed me that.”
He continued, “That had to be real. How the f*ck was anybody supposed to know he had that? I didn’t say sh*t.”

Four more acts will be announced as performers leading up to the show on February 21. LooseCannon Ent is offering an early bird special sale to fans. For the rest of November, LooseCannon is selling the first 104 tickets each day for the same price as the date (no taxes or fees).
“I do this for the community,” says organizer LooseCannon Slim. “I wanted to make it easy for young fans to attend the concert and see their favorite artists up close and personal.”
In a recent feature in the New York Magazine, R. Kelly was asked about his alleged sex crimes. The R&B star received a lot a attention (and scrutiny) for his sexual assault allegations with underage girls. One of Kelly’s biggest stories regarding this issue was the controversial video of the singer having sex with an alleged underaged woman in 2002. Kelly responded to the reporter in defense, claiming that the accusations were not true. However, the Chocolate Factory artist’s responses started to get a bit weird after that. The reporter writes:
Do you have a sexual attraction to underage girls? I ask.
“That’s a rumor that comes from the Earth, like all rumors,” he says, sounding almost bored.
So it’s not true?
“No. It’s not true. I love women, period. If I wasn’t a celebrity, people wouldn’t be saying these things about me.”
How do you explain people close to you saying that you have a problem?
“I don’t know those people you’re talking about.”
I clarify: his brother, his ex-publicist, his former friend and longtime personal assistant.
“All those people have been fired by me. If you’re going to ask me these questions, you have to make sense out of it. It wasn’t until after they got fired that they said these things. Go figure. I got one life, and I don’t want to spend it talking about negativity. I’ve moved on. Maybe you haven’t.”
Although R. Kelly dodged a sentence for over 21 counts of making child pornography, the allegations have been a constant topic talked about recently.
There’s a chance that Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug are back as Rich Gang once again. The ATL rapper recently announced that Rich Gang is going to do another project.
There’s been several music celebrities that have spoke out about Friday’s attacks in Paris, from Mos Def to Madonna. However, for artists like Thundercat and Mono/Poly, some take a different approach to send their condolences to the families and friends of victims. Recently, the two artists released a brief piece on Soundcloud in light of the terror happening in the City of Love. Although it is very brief, “Paris” is calm in nature, with the possible purpose of easing the souls of those who are mourning after the misfortunate series of events. Thundercat himself has had a successful year working with Kendrick Lamar and also releasing his own project through Flying Lotus’ record label, Brainfeeder.
When Ty Dolla Sign arrived on the R&B scene, he wasn’t the typical crooner. With lyrics that depicted the life of a gangster and a ladies man, the west coast native made sure to not fit any prototypes carved out by singers like Usher or even an early Trey Songz. Obviously inspired by his more soulful predecessors from the 70’s to the 90’s, Ty is a self-taught instrumentalist with a raspy, throaty voice that can help catapult him into the spotlight as a top notch serenader, but it isn’t always showcased due to likeness of his lyrics to rap songs. After releasing a slew of mixtapes, the producer/songwriter has finally arrived with his Atlantic Records debut, Free TC, and he is showing that is more than R&B’s resident ratchet king.
He starts off the 16-track effort with a Kendrick Lamar-assisted ode to his city, titled “LA,” which also features rich vocals from Brandy. On the track, Ty shines bright with hometown pride as he salutes his gang infested city.
With hits like “Paranoid,” and “Or Nah,” the 30-year-old declares that he is the type to love ‘em and leave ‘em, but on the album cut “Credit” featuring Sevyn Streeter, Ty is a changed man as he is trying to clean up his act for a special lady. He sings “Now I stopped talking to them b—hes/ I did everything you asked of me and more/Still you be going through my ‘gram/ Trippin’ when you know them pictures old/ I’m more than focused on this money/ Trying to turn this house into a home.” But it isn’t long before he returns to telling tales about his oversexed love life. On one of album’s standout tracks “Know Ya” featuring Trey Songz, the two reflect on the backwards nature of this generation: having bedroom romps with women before even learning their name. On “Horses In The Stable,” he does a braggadocious rundown of the women he has tapped from coast to coast.
The album’s all-star plus-ones show that Ty has some respected connections in the game. He has the legendary singer/producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds supplying an acoustic guitar music bed on “Solid” as he croons about being lusted after by the women while maintaining G-status in his hood. Jagged Edge helps to end the album gem “Straight Up” on a nostalgic note with their smooth vocals reminiscent of the “Let’s Get Married” days. Kanye West and Diddy appear on “Guard Down,” a galvanizing tribute to the woman who is on her last string of hope with a vibe similar to Tupac’s “Keep Your Head Up.” R. Kelly, the R&B thug who’s Dolla $ign’s antecedent, also makes a lackluster appearance on the generic sex anthem “Actress.”
Throughout the album’s triumphant moments, the grim inspiration behind it seeps through with interludes from Ty’s baby brother, TC, the LP’s namesake. Big TC is behind bars serving a life sentence for a murder he is allegedly not responsible for. As he checks in through recorded snippets of phone conversations, listening to what he is enduring is heartbreaking. He details having all of his belongings confiscated after a random search of his cell and being on lockdown with no food and not being able to shower. But he still smiles through the pain as he also finds solace in recording music. TC and his brethren D-Loc, who is also locked up, are impressive song-makers even without a top-of-the-art studio and make a cameo on the album on the track “Miracle/Whenever.”
For his long-awaited debut, the Taylor Gang melodist found a balance between being a lascivious rap-singer and a posh musician with a profuse amount of skills whether behind the mic or beat machine. Ty toned down his usual level of lewdness for more radio-friendly songs without straying away from his normal playboy persona. With Free TC, Ty Dolla $ign carves his niche as a vocalist who knows how to perfectly tread the thinning line between rap and R&B.
Riding off of his recent release of Church in the Streets, Jeezy releases a new edit of his single “God.” This time with Nas to supply a verse. Produced by TM88 and Southside, “God” is a very different track that you would see legendary rapper on, however, his bars are still pretty consistent.
Church in the Streets is out now, check out the song below:
Young Chop’s been pretty quietly lately. Being one of the founding fathers of Drill music, the Chicago producer has enough clout to venture out and do his own thing without the help of his close colleague, Chief Keef. Recently, Chop released his album Finally Rich Too. The title seems to be a play off of Chief Keef’s debut album Finally Rich. likeHe even made it available to stream. The new project features appearances from Vic Mensa, Lil Flash, Nino, King100James, and more.
This year marks 25th anniversary of the classic album by A Tribe Called Quest, and the group recently released the 25th anniversary edition of their debut project People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm. Friday night, the legendary Hip Hop group showed up on The Tonight Show to perform their classic track “Can I Kick It” with the help of The Roots. The performance was crazy, with Tribe getting the entire crowd into the groove.
