University of Georgia Athletic Director Apologizes For Ludacris Wild Concert Rider

(AllHipHop News) University of Georgia Athletic Director Greg McGarity has apologized for the fallout from an April concert featuring rapper Ludacris.

The University booked the rapper/actor to perform during “G Day,” the annual spring football game, which pulled in a record 93,000 people.

Ludacris was paid $65,000 for a 15 minute performance, according to a contract rider which was released shortly after the concert.

Ludacris’ contract with the University of Georgia came under fire because it called for many outlandish things, including bottles of liquor and condoms.

Greg McGarity sat in front of UGA’s Athletic Board of Directors, as well as UGA President Jere Morehead, earlier this week to explain.

“Few things in my professional life have bothered me more than this situation,” McGarity said according to a report on Athens-Online.

McGarity was not only rankled over the $65,000 paycheck, he was embarrassed
by the list of demands the University had to fulfill to secure the last minute performance from Ludacris.

Luda required dinner to be served for 10 people. Food requirements included seasoned chicken breast, wheat pasta and two platters of mild teriyaki lemon pepper chicken.

Ludacris required a little more.

The Grammy Award winning artist requested organic creamy peanut butter, organic jelly, a box of fruit roll ups, a hairbrush, two Joan Malone candles (Gardenia Scent), two large bags of plain, BBQ chips and much more.

However, it was the Trojan Magnum (Excstasy) and the bottles of Belvedere, Patron Silver and even his own Conjure cognac, that really put athletic director Greg McGarity under the microscope.

“There are no reruns in life so we need to turn the page, learn from our mistakes and do everything we can to make sure errors of this nature do not reoccur,” said McGarity.

Ballistic Evidence Points To Troy Ave’s Gun, Maino’s Girlfriend Among The Victims

(AllHipHop News) Police continue to investigate a deadly shooting that left one man dead and three others injured, including rapper Troy Ave, during a concert in Manhattan on Wednesday (May 25).

Troy Ave, born Roland Collins, will be charged with attempted murder when he is discharged from NYU Medical Center, where he is being treating for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Detectives believe Troy Ave shot himself, as well as three other people, after a fist fight turned into gunplay backstage at Irving Plaza.

The man killed in the ordeal was named Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, who was reportedly a close associate and childhood friend of Troy Ave.

Police have ruled out a feud with Maino as the source of the violence. Instead, detectives are investigating if the dispute was connected to tensions with another person or parties.

So far, Troy Ave is the only suspect in the shooting.

Police have tested all five of the shell casings recovered and four of them brought back results that were consistent with the weapon Troy Ave was captured on video firing.

“We have one gun right now and one gun only,” said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

The police are still trying to determine if any rounds were fired from another weapon, which may have been a revolver. At the moment, all of the evidence points to Troy Ave according to Detective Boyce.

“We have (Collins) on tape. carrying we believe that same gun,” Detectives Boyce said. “I will say that shell casing you saw that was fired is in line with other shell casings recovered inside the VIP room.”

Meanwhile, it was just reported that Maino’s girlfriend was one of the victims of the deadly shooting.

A representative for Maggie Heckstall told ABC7 that she was shot in the knee and has already undergone several complex surgeries. Heckstall’s rep said she planned to sue all of the parties involved.

EXCLUSIVE: Fat Joe Explains How N.O.R.E. & Memphis Bleek Helped Get Jay Z On The “All The Way Up” Remix

(AllHipHop News) New York City representatives Fat Joe and Jay Z were able to finally set aside whatever past differences they had in order to unite on the recently released “All The Way Up” remix.

Joe managed to complete his bucket list item of doing a record with the Roc Nation boss thanks to some friends setting up a conversation between the two emcees.

It turns out fellow NYC rappers N.O.R.E and Memphis Bleek played a major role in Jay eventually hopping on the track. In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Joe explained how the collaboration came together.

“I reached out to N.O.R.E, because he had a serious relationship with Memphis Bleek. He got Bleek on the phone, and I told Bleek about the plans. He called Jay Z, and Jay Z called me back in like five minutes. He said, ‘Let’s’ do it. I can’t wait.’ The rest was history,” said Joe.

Even before Hov added his voice to the remix, Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s original “All The Way Up” was a smash. The song has broken onto several Billboard charts, its video has collected over 20 million views on YouTube, and the track has become the go-to summer 16 beat for freestyles.

Joey Crack is fully appreciative of the song’s success, and the Terror Squad leader values his three decade journey in the entertainment business.

“I’m not just happy, I’m ecstatic. It feels like I’m smoking crack or something. I don’t know how to act. [laughs],” added Joe. “You gotta understand in 1993 I came out with my first single, ‘Flow Joe,’ and it went #1 in the country. And now 23 years later we got a top 10 song in America. It’s unheard of in Hip Hop music.”

Party Organizers Demand Refund Of T.I.’s Fee After Concert Shooting

(AllHipHop News) The organizers of a high school graduation party are demanding T.I. return a $55,000 fee after a shooting at his gig in New York City.

A man was killed and three people were shot in the incident at Manhattan’s Irving Plaza venue on Wednesday (May 25).

T.I., real name Clifford Joseph Harris, is currently scheduled to play the Planet Graduation event in Davie, Florida on June 11.

However, the party’s promoters are attempting to remove the rapper, 35, from the bill for safety reasons and have requested he refund $55,000 he has already been paid ahead of the gig.

The two companies listed as “presenting” the gig are Texas media conglomerate iHeartMedia and events organiser Planet Productions.

According to editors at TMZ.com, promoters have sent out a legal notice explaining, “the quality of the Talents services is not satisfactory to our Client,” as Planet Graduation was marketed “as a safe environment for the students.”

There is no suggestion T.I. was involved in Wednesday’s shooting, which occurred backstage at the concert.

Russell Simmons: Bernie Sanders Is No Deity, He’s No Saint (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) Russell Simmons has long been involved in political activism. The self-described progressive is an outspoken advocate for gay rights, animal rights, justice equality, and the Black Lives Matter movement.

While Bernie Sanders has been the most left-leaning candidate in the 2016 presidential race, Simmons endorsed his rival, former Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton.

The Breakfast Club spoke to Simmons about the current state of the election contest. The co-founder of Def Jam Records addressed one of Senator Sanders main issues – the political campaign finance system funded by the extremely wealthy and special interest groups.

“I know what all those [progressive] issues are. I also know that 400 people in legislatures who do take money, and some of them – despite their money – do what’s the best they can,” expressed Simmons. “Bernie Sanders is no deity, he’s no saint. He’s a candidate.”

He continued, “[Sander is] a very positive candidate. His effect on our two-party system is positive.”

Simmons went on to compare Sanders’ campaign to Ralph Nader’s third-party campaign in 2000. In the mogul’s view, Nader’s left-wing candidacy caused Republican George Bush to win the presidency over Democrat Al Gore, and as a result, America and the world suffered because of the Bush Administration’s policies.

The Sanders/Nader comparison seemed to suggest the Senator from Vermont’s continuous assault against Clinton could lead to presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump taking the White House.

In addition, Simmons stated he had no issue with Sanders staying in the race, but he called on the candidate to stop the “personal attacks.”

The New York City based entrepreneur referred to Trump as his friend, but Simmons is still going to work hard to make sure the billionaire does not win the election.

The Breakfast Club conversation also included Simmons defending Clinton and her record.

“Hillary ain’t evil. She helped me change the Rockefeller Drug Laws. She has pushed a lot of our agenda, and she’s taken on Obama’s agenda,” said Simmons. “Then Bernie has pushed us further to the left on ideas that we care about for under-served communities than Obama was ever able to go.”

BSB Records Affiliates Young Lito & Hovain Address Reports On Troy Ave Shooting & Arrest

(AllHipHop News) Troy Ave is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after a tragic shooting that took place at Irving Plaza Wednesday night.

The BSB Records leader was a trending topic on social media for most of Thursday as more reports about the incident and his arrest became known.

[ALSO READ: Troy Ave Charged With Shooting Himself; Could Face Murder Charges In Relation To Deadly Shooting]

Four people were shot backstage at the concert in New York City which was headlined by T.I. and featured performances by Uncle Murda and Maino.

Troy is accused of shooting himself and others, and authorities claim they have video evidence of the Brooklyn rapper firing inside the venue.

The Major Without a Deal album creator’s longtime friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter was killed that night.

As of press time, police are still investigating whether Banga’s death was the result of Troy’s gunfire.

Troy has yet to publicly address the situation.

However, two individuals associated with BSB have tweeted out comments which certainly appear to be connected to their comrade’s current ordeal.

Early yesterday morning, BSB rapper Young Lito tweeted, “Unbelievable.” He later posted, “Daily News is d-ckheads that’s bullsh-t.”

While Lito was not clear on why he targeted the New York Daily News, the newspaper has been reporting the shooting at Irving Plaza was the result of a feud between Troy’s crew and Maino’s entourage.

Maino has denied he or his team were involved.

Lito’s Daily News tweet was retweeted by Troy’s manager Hovain Hylton.

He also later added his own tweet that read, “I thought this was America people.”

The quote is taken from Jay Z’s song “Guilty Until Proven Innocent” and seems to refer to the idea that suspects are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty in this country.

Troy Ave is currently facing charges of attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The “Bang Bang” rhymer’s last original tweet posted on Wednesday morning before the shooting stated: “‘The world is rarely a fair place’ The Blacklist.”

EXCLUSIVE: Fat Joe Calls Troy Ave Shooting “Ironic” As New York Rappers Unite

(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (May 25) shots rang out at a T.I. concert in Manhattan, leaving several people wounded and one dead.

The gunfire occurred on the third floor green room of Irving Plaza as rapper Maino was exiting the stage.

The violence ultimately killed a 33-year-old man associated with Troy Ave named Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.

Three others were hospitalized, including Troy Ave, who reportedly accidently shot himself in the deadly skirmish

In a recent sit down with AllHipHop.com, Bronx, New York veteran Fat Joe commented on the outburst of violence.

Fat Joe has been working to settle his old beefs with other New York rappers, as evidenced by his recent collaboration with former foe, Jay Z.

It’s one of the reasons Jay Z jumped on Fat Joe’s “All The Way Up” remix with French Montana, Remy Ma and Infared.

“The reason we did this sh-t [the ‘All The Way Up’] was so the sh-t that happened last night where people got shot in the middle of a concert doesn’t happen,” Fat Joe told AllHipHop.com. “We’re trying to show people you can have your differences but it can actually end peacefully. It doesn’t have to end with death and destruction.”

Up until the shooting, Fat Joe, 50 Cent, Cam’ron, N.O.R.E, Nas and other respected veterans of the New York rap scene were settling old issues.

“That’s pretty ironic that [shooting happened] while we’re doing this symbol of unity. I hope these young kids see it and follow suit. Cause ain’t nothing really worth it. You gotta understand most of us grew up in poverty with a dream and all the stripes against us. The fact we’re able to make music, make money, have fans, and make our dreams come true – we really gotta appreciate that.”

Troy Ave is facing an attempted murder charge and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Comedy Rap Group The Lonely Island Passed On RZA and J Dilla Tracks for “Popstar: “Never Stop Never Stopping”

(AllHipHop News) Comedy rap group The Lonely Island revealed they had to pass up tracks from RZA and J Dilla for their new music mockumentary “Popstar: “Never Stop Never Stopping.”

The trio’s first feature film follows a pop star called “Connor4Real,” played by Andy Samberg, and his journey through stardom.

Along the way he meets a myriad of real life musicians, many of whom make cameos in the movie.

Among them are Wu-Tang Clan star RZA, who offered up his original music for the film, but Andy admits he and bandmates Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone unfortunately had to turn down the Hip-Hop icon.

“We once got sent beats from RZA, which was crazy,” Andy told SiriusXM DJ Sway. “They were super, like, experimental. They were very, like, atonal and weird, and we were like, ‘We don’t know how to make this funny, but it’s dope’.”

Akiva added that reps for rapper/producer J Dilla also came to them with beats, but they had to turn him away as well, adding, “They sent us a Dilla beat, and we were like, ‘Oh my God, we can’t ruin a Dilla beat!’ People will hate us if we do that.”

While their music wasn’t used for the movie, both rappers make appearances in the film, along with Nas, A$AP Rocky, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Ringo Starr, and Pink, among others.

The soundtrack listing for The Lonely Island’s film was also recently released, and includes tracks with featured artists such as Adam Levine, Seal, Linkin Park, and actress Emma Stone.

“Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping” hits cinemas in the U.S. on June 3.

Maino Denies Reports Of Beef With Troy Ave; Victim’s Mom Speaks Out

(AllHipHop News) Brooklyn rapper Maino has come forward to deny reports that he was involved with in a dispute with Troy Ave, when a deadly shooting broke out a concert in New York.

Four people, including Troy Ave, were shot backstage at Irving Plaza, at a concert that was supposed to feature headliner T.I., who never made it to the stage.

Instead, thousands of people were forced to flee the concert venue after the shooting, which left one man, a close associate of Troy Ave named Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, dead.

“Won’t let them undo what we’re building! No ‘ongoing beefs’ or ‘entourage issues.’ It always has been and always will be good relations between myself AND MY TEAM and @TroyAve @Hovain @YoungLitoBsB and the BSB crew.”

To remove any doubt, Maino offered his condolences to the family of McPhatter, who was just 33-years-old when he was killed in the shooting.

“Our deepest sympathies again to family of Ronald McPhatter and a speedy recovery to Troy Ave,” Maino wrote. “The movement will not be stopped. #BROOKLYNUNITED #HEARDYOU”

So far, Troy Ave has been charged with reckless endangerment, assault and illegal weapon possession charges.

Police are working to determine if Troy Ave’s gun was the weapon that fired the shot that killed Ronald McPhatter.

Meanwhile, McPhatter’s mother came forward and has criticized Troy Ave, further adding to his woes.

“He actually cared a lot about Troy Ave. My wish is that Troy Ave cared as much about my son as he cared about him. I say that because I watched how my son would always bend over backwards to help him,” Rose McPhatter, told The New York Daily News.”

“If he (Troy Ave) cared about my son as much as he alleged he does, I would’ve received a call from him,” Rose McPhatter said. “He didn’t call me. He didn’t call any of my other sons.”

Troy Ave Charged With Shooting Himself; Could Face Murder Charges In Relation To Deadly Shooting

UPDATE: Troy Ave has just been slapped with an attempted murder charge after he was seen and videotaped shooting at Irving Plaza, before T.I. was set to perform.

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Troy Ave has been hit with the charges linked to a deadly shooting that occurred backstage at Irving Plaza last night (May 25).

Atlanta rap star/actor T.I. was headlining a concert when tensions between Troy Ave and Maino turned into deadly violence.

Maino had just exited from the stage when five shots were discharged into a group of people gathered near a green room. One man, Edgar McPhatter, 33, was mortally wounded.

Three other people, counting Troy Ave, sustained gunshot wounds as well. According to reports, Troy Ave was injured when he inadvertently shot himself in the leg.

That’s what led to the reckless endangerment and weapons charges. The New York Daily News obtained clear video footage of Troy Ave drawing his weapon and firing into the crowd.

The man who shot and killed, Edgar McPhatter, was reportedly a bodyguard and close associate of the rapper.

“There is clear video, very graphic video. He walks right out, women all around, and starts shooting his gun,” a source told The New York Daily News. “It’s an ongoing rap group rivalry, him and Maino.”

The event brought out about 1,000 people to Irving Plaza for T.I. The shooting left one dead in addition to the shooting victims.
According to police, Troy Ave could face murder charges, depending on the outcome of the ballistic tests they are conducting.

Kodak Black Needed A Vacation, Allegedly Skips Out On Concert

(AllHipHop News) Pompano Beach rapper Kodak Black is in trouble with the law again as he reportedly was a no show at a performance and instead took a Valentines Day trip to Puerto Rico.

Hendry County Club promoters Willy Cenecharles and Carl Richardson claim that Kodak Black missed his scheduled performance at the Latinos Nigh Club in Labelle, Florida, after they agreed to pay him $7,000 with half coming upfront.

The Florida promoters recently filed a lawsuit against Black and Dollaz N Dealz Entertainment LLC for violations of Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, breach of contract, and fraud, adding to the budding stars woes.

This is not Kodak Black’s first run in with the law.

On May 18th Kodak Black, born Dieuson Octave, was detained for warrants on charges such as armed robbery, and in April Kodak Black reportedly led the police on a high speed chase after being busted in a drug deal in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
