LL COOL J Mocks Peers Who Only Rap About Money: “ You Have Nothing Else To Talk About?”

LL COOL J claims artists need to be more creative and find something other than money to rap about.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer slammed artists who only rap about their riches, claiming it demonstrates a lack of growth. He called out braggadocious rappers during a recent interview with Baller Alert.

“[When] a rapper comes out, and he’s talking that money talk, you love it,” LL COOL J stated. “But 12 years later, he’s still talking that money talk, and now you’re looking at him like, ‘Dude, do you have anything else to talk about?'”

Furthermore, LL used Bob Marley as an example of an artist with a timeless catalog. According to the Hip-Hop Pioneer, Marley remains influential decades after his death because his music has a message.

“He talked about something,” LL explained. “He had something to say. And guess what? You don’t care what Bob Marley had in the bank. Because that’s not the metric for success. It’s not the metric for cultural success. Bob Marley did not have to be rich. He was rich in what he did and what he created and what he put in the world. That s### matters.”

LL COOL J ended with a parting shot, “The wallet can’t un-corny you.”

LL COOL J On “Learning How To Rap Again”

Earlier this month, LL revealed he returned to square one to craft his upcoming album, THE FORCE, his first project in over a decade.

He explained that crafting the album felt like “going back to the drawing board and learning how to rap again.”

THE FORCE is set to arrive on September 6 and features Nas, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Saweetie and more.

“We’re talking 14 tracks of straight fire, all crafted by myself and the one and only Q-Tip,” LL said. “When you listen to this album, you’re not just hearing music, you’re experiencing a whole new vibe, a whole new level of artistic passion.”

From Rappers to Entrepreneurs: Hip-Hop’s Business Evolution

Hip-hop has always been more than just a genre of music. Hip-hop has evolved into a cultural powerhouse from its roots in the Bronx during the 1970s, influencing fashion, language, and business practices. The entrepreneurial spirit embedded in hip-hop culture is undeniable, with many artists leveraging their fame and influence to launch successful business ventures. This evolution from the mic to the boardroom illustrates the dynamic connectivity of hip-hop and its ability to transcend traditional boundaries.

Historically, hip-hop has been a platform for marginalised voices to express their stories, struggles, and triumphs. This spirit of resilience and innovation has naturally extended into the business world. Rappers are not just musicians; they are brands that can create, market, and sell a wide range of products and services. The story of hip-hop entrepreneurship is one of transformation, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of success.

One of the earliest and most iconic examples of this transition is Sean “Diddy” Combs. Diddy’s business empire spans music, fashion, beverages, and media. His fashion line, Sean John, redefined urban apparel, while his Ciroc vodka brand became synonymous with luxury lifestyle marketing. Diddy’s ventures highlight how hip-hop artists can diversify their portfolios and build lasting legacies beyond music.

Jay-Z, another industry titan, epitomises the hip-hop entrepreneur. His ventures range from Roc Nation, a full-service entertainment company, to Armand de Brignac champagne, a symbol of luxury in the music industry. Jay-Z’s strategic investments in technology, real estate, and sports teams showcase his ability to navigate various business landscapes successfully.

Dr Dre, known for his pioneering role in hip-hop production, took the business world by storm with Beats by Dre. The high-end headphone brand revolutionised the audio industry and was eventually sold to Apple for $3 billion. This deal cemented Dr. Dre’s status as a billionaire and underscored the lucrative potential of well-branded hip-hop products.

Outside of music and technology, artists like Rihanna have made significant strides in fashion and beauty. Her Fenty Beauty line promotes inclusivity with a wide range of skin tones and has been a groundbreaking success. Rihanna’s ability to tap into the needs of her diverse fanbase and create a product that resonates globally is a testament to her entrepreneurial acumen.

Moreover, hip-hop entrepreneurship isn’t limited to products; it also extends to media and entertainment. Artists like Ice Cube have transitioned into successful careers in film and television. Ice Cube’s production company, Cube Vision, has produced numerous hit movies, showcasing his versatility and creative vision beyond the recording studio.

As the influence of hip-hop continues to grow, so does the range of business ventures associated with it. One burgeoning area is the online gaming industry. With the rising popularity of hip-hop-themed slot games, who knows, perhaps artists in this genre will one day, sooner than we think to confirm a collaboration in their very own line of online slot games, especially considering how viral some of these types of ventures can quickly become as we have seen in the past.

These entrepreneurial endeavours demonstrate how hip-hop artists are not just entertainers but savvy businesspeople who understand the power of their brand. They are redefining what it means to be a successful artist in the 21st century, blending creativity with commerce in previously unimaginable ways.

In conclusion, the evolution from rappers to entrepreneurs is a testament to the ingenuity and adaptability of hip-hop culture. These artists are trailblazers, continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible. As they venture into new industries and create innovative products, they are not only securing their financial futures but also inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs. The story of hip-hop’s business evolution is far from over; it’s a narrative of endless potential and uncharted opportunities.

R. Kelly Seeks To Overturn Sex Crime Convictions Citing Statute Of Limitations

R. Kelly is reportedly petitioning the United States Supreme Court to get his sex crime convictions tossed out.

According to a TMZ report published Tuesday (July 30), the disgraced singer’s attorney argues that because the alleged incidents occurred decades ago, the statute of limitations applies despite the introduction of the PROTECT Act in 2003.

During his trial, R. Kelly argued the statute of limitations applied to his charges of possessing child pornography and engaging in sexual acts with underage girls. The incidents were alleged to have taken place in the 1990s.

However, prosecutors argued for the application of the PROTECT Act, which removed statutes of limitations for abduction and abuse cases involving children.

The outlet reports Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, is now claiming that the acts Kelly was convicted of allegedly occurred before the PROTECT Act was in place, so the Act doesn’t apply to his charges.

R. Kelly has been convicted of sex crimes charges in multiple states. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in a Chicago federal court last year. Additionally, in 2021, he was hit with 30 years for child sex crimes and racketeering in New York.

Earlier this year, an appellate court upheld R. Kelly’s conviction for child pornography and child enticement charges in Chicago. The court also denied his request for a new sentencing hearing.

Kelly is appealing his New York conviction. He remains behind bars at a federal correctional center in North Carolina.

Tia Kemp Urges Rick Ross To Do Family Reality Show: “I Got A Deal For You”

Tia Kemp wants to chase Rick Ross around his Promise Land ranch for a reality TV show.

Although she’s spent years publicly dragging the father of her son, the Aunt-Tea podcast host wants to showcase her dysfunctional relationship with Rozay on a reality TV show.

On Monday (July 29) Tia Kemp blasted Rick Ross before making her proposal in an Instagram video. She accused Ross of being “corny” for taunting 50 Cent over rumors Fiddy’s ex hooked up with Travis Scott. However, Kemp claimed she had a plan for him to channel what she considered as his need for attention.

“You’s a lying-ass fatback b#### and I’m tired of you seeking muthafuckin attention,” she said. “You want this attention, you come over here. I got a deal for you; the people been calling me too. They want us to do like a show, me and you Will.”

Tia Kemp then promised Rick Ross, “I ain’t going to act illy Willy silly no mo, just give me the millys,” before outlining her proposal.

“Now you need to come over here and we need to do this farm ranch show,” she continued. “They want to see us as a family and ride horses and cattle and all that. Me feeding horses and cows and slapping the s### outta you with a stack of hay or shovel or something.”

After she was through with Rick Ross, Tia Kemp directed her ire at his frequent collaborator, DJ Khaled.

“Y’all had the biggest muthafuckin mouth all last year. What happened?” she asked. “The Diddy s### got you n##### scared now? Khaled, jump your fat ass up out that muthafuckin water, get your fat ass over there where Diddy at.”

Meanwhile, Tia Kemp recently demanded $200,000 from Rick Ross for their son’s college tuition.

Schoolboy Q Clowns Drake After Toronto Crowd Goes Crazy For “Not Like Us”

Schoolboy Q is having the last laugh following his recent claim that his Toronto show was blocked in the aftermath of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle.

On Monday evening (July 29), the TDE  artist reacted to a video featuring DJ Scheme that went viral after he played K. Dot’s epic Drake diss “Not Like Us” in the 6 God’s hometown, Toronto.

In the clip, the crowd is seen singing enthusiastically to every word of the song, despite talk that anybody who dissed Drake is unwelcome in the country.

“Sometime U gotta PoP Out,” DJ Scheme wrote, posting the video on X (Twitter).

Schoolboy Q took great delight in the clip. His glee was amplified because DJ Scheme played the song in the same venue that Q claimed banned him. He quote-tweeted the video with his reaction clear for all to see.

“HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH,” he wrote.

DJ Scheme replied to Schoolboy Q telling him, “Got u always OG.”

Meanwhile, DJ Scheme has his own issues with Drake stemming from the death of his fellow Members Only collective member XXXTentacion.

Last month, the DJ dismissed conspiracy theories tying Drake to X’s death. However, he claimed the OVO founder tried to “look more gangster” after X died.

“My only issue is that after my brother died all Drake did was throw shots to look more gangster,” Scheme wrote. “So to wrap things up it’s still f### Drake.”

Members Only collective member Ski Mask The Slump God also reacted to the video, quoting Lamar. “Sometimes You Gotta Pop Out And Show N#####,” he wrote.

Cardi B Rejects Foreclosure Rumors In Fiery Rant Amid Speculation Of Secret Financial Crisis

Cardi B is not selling any of her properties despite reports that she is facing foreclosure on one of her homes because of a “secret” financial crisis.

On Monday (July 29), the NYC rapper slammed a blog report for making false claims. The outlet alleged Cardi B was “facing foreclosure” and “fighting to make payments” on her Atlanta mansion.

The post has since been deleted, but not before the rumor spread and caught the attention of Cardi B. She took to X (Twitter) to set the record straight.

“LMAOOO You bum btches wish,” she replied. “Me and offset bought that house in 2019 for 5 million now it’s worth 7. Check the Atlanta market.”

Cardi B also clarified that she would sell her share in the property to her husband, Offset if she ever were to sell. “And no, we not selling it,” she added. “And if I ever sold it I would just sell my part to Offset since he loves Atlanta. Throwing salt on my home? Hating bad.”

X/Cardi B

Cardi B further denied the foreclosure rumors with an explosive rant during a Twitter Spaces conversation.

“If I wanna sell that house today, me and Offset could sell that s### in the blink of an eye,” she explained. “But we don’t want to sell our house.”

She again dismissed the rumors that she’s struggling financially, confirming that she has all her cars, including her Lambo truck and a highly sought-after Rolls Royce that Cardi B claimed is in her home “collecting dust.”

She insisted, “I close my eyes and I can make money,” boasting, “I might just drop $200,000 on a f###### necklace, because I can b####.”

Snoop Dogg Gets Swimming Lesson From Michael Phelps In Hilarious Paris Olympics Video

Snoop Dogg couldn’t have picked a better swimming instructor than Michael Phelps to improve his skills in the pool.

The West Coast rap icon joined forces with the 23-time Olympic champion to achieve a “lifetime goal” while on hosting duties at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. In a segment aired on NBC Sports, Snoop Dogg tells Michael Phelps he’s got the perfect physique for the sport.

“You just described me!” Snoop replied when Phelps described the elements needed for a fast stroke. “Wingspan, lung power — I definitely have great lung power — and I do have a swimmer’s body,” he added while standing next to the champ. “Our bodies are similar Mike; we could be twins.”

Snoop Dogg was too cool for swimming goggles, turning down Phelps’ offer with a resounding “Hell no,” before showing off his freestyle stroke.

“Swimming’s tough, huh?” Phelps said as Snoop agreed. The duo tried synchronized swimming, with the Death Row Records boss telling Phelps, “You make this look too easy.” Snoop said he was “in gold Medal condition” before jokingly asking for some oxygen.

This isn’t the first time Megan Thee Stallion has shown support for Kamala Harris. In March 2023, she joined the Vice President for a Women’s History Month brunch at her residence in Washington, DC. Megan branded Harris “the coolest Vice President ever” after posing for selfies.

Megan Thee Stallion isn’t the only notable musician voicing support for Kamala Harris since President Biden bowed out. Harris marked her first appearance as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee with Beyoncé’s “Freedom.” The superstar singer also gave Harris permission to use the song throughout the campaign.

Cardi B is yet to endorse a candidate but she defended Harris from “disgusting” disrespectful attacks in a passionate tirade last week.

Meanwhile, Plies has been campaigning for Harris on social media since she entered the race. In addition, Lil Nas X and Lizzo have also voiced support for Harris.

In addition, NSYNC star Lance Bass joined forces with Harris in a TikTok video referencing his group’s 2000 hit song. “Hey Kamala, what are we gonna say to Donald Trump in November?” Bass asked Harris. “Bye, bye, bye,” she replied.

Will Pusha T & No Malice Reunite With Clipse Reboot Album Before 2024 Ends?

A tweet from Pusha T has Hip-Hop fans buzzing with excitement and nostalgia after the It’s Almost Dry rapper seemingly confirmed the completion of a new Clipse album.

Late last week, Pusha T tantalized fans with a cryptic message on Twitter while reflecting on the summation of his triumphant list of summer projects.

Though his list included what appeared to be an exclusive drop on his upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics moves with adidas, fans overwhelmingly overlooked the tidbit in favor of what is undoubtedly a Clipse album update for the better, if not the best of terms.

“In real time… @clipse album ✔️ @CarharttWIP collab ✔️ @LouisVuitton House Ambassador ✔️ 2024 Olympics Paris w/ @adidas ✔️ Not even halfway done…” Pusha T wrote in the tweet.

A post shared by AllHipHop (@allhiphopcom)

The tweet has set the internet ablaze with speculation about whether the long awaited return of Clipse will happen before the end of the year, considering the iconic rap duo released their latest album, Til the Casket Drops, in December 2009.

Adding fuel to the fire, the brothers recently performed their classic track “Popular Demand (Popeyes)” featuring Cam’ron and Pharrell at a block party hosted by Denim Tears’ founder Tremaine Emory.

Not to mention, both Pusha T and Malice have dropped hints about the potential reunion project in recent interviews. No Malice hinted at new music during a podcast appearance, saying, “We’ve been in the studio, and the energy feels right. There’s definitely something in the works.”

Meanwhile, Pusha T’s career continues to soar. He was recently appointed as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton Menswear, a role that cements his influence beyond music.

“Being a part of the Louis Vuitton family is a dream come true,” Pusha T said in a statement. “It’s an honor to merge the worlds of fashion and hip-hop in such a significant way.”

Additionally, Pusha T and No Malice debuted Clipse’s reunion merch collaboration with Carhartt WIP late last month. As King Push’s tweet appears to indicate, neither he nor the Clipse as a group appear to have any plans of slowing down any time soon.

Check out the footage of the Clipse’ recent performance below.

Snoop Dogg Finds Support From DJ Paul & DJ Quik Amid “Satanic” Chain Accusations

Snoop Dogg has responded to rumors that his custom goat necklace, which he has been sporting during the 2024 Paris Olympics, is a Satanic symbol.

In addition to critics slamming the ceremony for what many have described as a demonic recreation of the “Last Supper” from the Bible, countless conspiracy theorists have accused the West Coast rapper of donning the goat chain in reference to Baphomet, a symbol of balance in various occult and mystical traditions.

In the video he shared to his Instagram profile, Snoop Dogg seemingly addresses the elephant in the room and sets the record straight on the symbolism behind his custom jewelry piece.

“I don’t know what y’all thought this was, but this is the GOAT,” Snoop Dogg emphasized. “I had this made because somebody told me I was the GOAT, so I wanted to make me a GOAT chain.”

Snoop then emphasized the positive connotation behind the symbol while aggressively countering the negative rumors swirling.

“All that other s##t y’all talking about, I don’t know what y’all talking about, but this is the goat greatest of all time with a blue diamond on his head,” he said. “Gold goat. That other s##t y’all talking about. Miss me with that b#######.”

A post shared by AllHipHop (@allhiphopcom)

Snoop Dogg concluded by firmly dismissing the baseless claims while taking a moment to vibe out to GloRilla amid her 25th birthday celebration.

“Dog is the GOAT representing peace and love around the whole globe,” he said. “So now y’all know the truth. It’s a goat. I don’t know what kind of misprint y’all n###as was on. Media love starting s##t. Leave me the f##k alone. I’m over here been having fun in Paris. Yeah. Glo. Yeah. Glo.”

Several of Snoop Dogg’s collaborators and supporters, including DJ Paul and DJ Quick, showed up in the comment section of the post to add their stamp of approval on the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper’s rebuttal to the rumors.

“I think it’s a sapphire pimpin,” DJ Quik wrote. “You’re arguing with children who are afraid of the bogeyman.” DJ Paul added, “Same with my Goat horns tattoo bro.”

Fans can now breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that Snoop Dogg’s goat necklace symbolizes greatness, peace and love—not anything sinister.

A First-Timer’s Guide To Las Vegas Nightclubs: Where To Party For The Best Music

Las Vegas’s wild nightlife scene can be overwhelming for newcomers. With countless clubs and diverse music options, choosing where to party requires some insider knowledge. Here’s your guide to finding the perfect beat in Sin City.

Figuring Out Your Vibe

Before diving in, consider what moves you. Are you drawn to the pulsating rhythms of tech house, the bass-heavy drops of dubstep, or the melodic progressions of trance? Maybe you prefer the lyrical flow of hip-hop or the smooth grooves of R&B. Las Vegas caters to all tastes, so identifying your preference is key.

Where to Find Your Favorite Beats

Now, let’s talk about where to find the best music.

EDM Heaven

If you’re craving heart-pounding beats and electric energy, then EDM is your thing. Lucky for you, Vegas is basically EDM central. Here are Las Vegas nightclubs you can check:

  • XS at Wynn: Recently renovated in 2023, XS boasts a state-of-the-art sound system and a 10,000 square foot outdoor pool area. Resident DJ Marshmello’s sets here are a must-experience, blending future bass with pop-infused tracks.
  • Omnia at Caesars Palace: The 75-foot-tall chandelier with moving heads is a spectacle in itself. Catch Zedd’s residency for a mix of progressive house and electro-pop that perfectly complements the club’s futuristic aesthetics.
  • Zouk at Resorts World: As of 2024, Zouk’s cutting-edge AV-hybrid experience, designed by NYC-based studio fragmento, creates an immersive environment unlike any other on the Strip.

Hip-Hop and R&B Vibes

If you’re more into the soulful beats of hip-hop and R&B, then Vegas has you covered. This city’s got spots where you can get your fix of smooth rhythms and sick flows. Here are a few nightclubs to check:

  • Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub (The Cromwell): In summer 2023, Drai’s launched “The Studio,” an intimate venue within the club where you can catch impromptu performances by resident artists like Ty Dolla $ign and Jermaine Dupri.
  • Tao (Venetian): While known for its Asian-inspired decor, Tao’s recent partnership with Roc Nation has brought a fresh lineup of hip-hop talent. Don’t miss their Industry Nights on Thursdays, featuring surprise guest appearances.

Pop and Top 40 Fun

Love a little bit of everything? These clubs are perfect if you can’t decide between catchy pop tunes and chart-topping hits.

  • Marquee at the Cosmopolitan: The newly added “The Library” room offers a retro-inspired space with its own DJ, perfect for when you need a breather from the main room’s high energy.
  • On The Record (Park MGM): This speakeasy-style club, opened by LA nightlife titans Jonnie and Mark Houston, offers a unique spin on the Vegas club scene. Their “Vinyl Parlor” features guest bartenders and intimate live performances.

The Rise of Shared DJ Residencies

One of the hottest trends in Vegas nightlife is the shared DJ residency. This means your favorite artists are now teaming up to bring you epic back-to-back sets. It’s like a dream come true for music fans.

For example, Lil Wayne, the hip-hop legend, has teamed up with Drai’s Nightclub and Zouk Nightclub. This means you could be dancing to his hits one night and then experiencing a completely different vibe the next. It’s a game-changer for the Vegas nightlife scene.

So, if you’re lucky enough to catch one of these crazy collaborations, you’re in for a night to remember.

Nightclub Tips for First-Timers

So, you’re ready to dive headfirst into the crazy world of Vegas nightclubs. Here’s how you can prepare:

  • Dress code matters: Each club has its own style. XS leans towards upscale chic, while Hakkasan allows for a more eclectic look. Check the venue’s website for specifics to avoid disappointment at the door.
  • Timing is everything: Arriving between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM often strikes the sweet spot between avoiding long queues and catching the energy as it builds.
  • VIP experience: While pricey (expect $1000+ for a group of four), bottle service can elevate your night. At Omnia, it grants access to the terrace with stunning views of the Bellagio fountains.
  • Hydration stations: Clubs like Zouk now offer free water stations. Use them! Your future self will thank you.
  • Budget wisely: Cover charges range from $20 to $100+, depending on the night and headliner. Drinks average $15-$20. Plan accordingly.

Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and be safe!

In Conclusion

Vegas is wild, and it’s always changing. One minute you’re vibing to some chill R&B, the next you’re losing your mind to a sick EDM drop. That’s the beauty of this place—it’s got something for everyone.

Here’s the deal: don’t overthink it. Just get out there and see what clicks. Maybe you’ll end up falling in love with a genre you never even knew existed. There’s nothing quite like
discovering your new jam while you’re surrounded by the crazy energy and lights of the Strip. So, keep an open mind, let loose, and get ready for a night you’ll never forget!

Tariq Nasheed Responds To Critics, Haters & “Microphone Check” Doc Takedown

Controversial documentarian Tariq Nasheed returns for a second interview to discuss the recent twists and turns with this documentary. And, of course, the drama with the Latino Community.

Tariq Nasheed is known for his provocative, often trollish takes, but he hit the motherlode with his latest documentary, Microphone Check. The movie, which came out earlier this year, delved into the origins of Hip-Hop and contentious narratives surrounding the creation of the culture. The movie has sparked significant debate, especially between the Black and Latino communities. He talked to DJ Thoro at WonWorld Studios in a spirited conversation that has already re-ignited the chatter.

During the conversation, Nasheed re-addressed the claim and notion that Hip-Hop was co-created by Black and Latino communities.

“This whole narrative that Hip-Hop was created by Blacks and Latinos together is relatively new,” he said. “Nobody was saying that like 20, 30 years ago.”

He argued that the new narrative undermines the contributions of Black pioneers in Hip-Hop, many of which are in his documentary, including Grandmaster Caz, MC Debbie Dee, Busy Bee, MC Sha Rock and Melle Mel.

Over time, he said things began to change and feels the acts are sinister: “We started to see a deliberate erasure of the Black contributors and pioneers of Hip-Hop. If we’re going to talk about the history of Hip-Hop, we have to be truthful so that the integrity of the culture remains as it evolves.”

Nasheed admitted that Latinos participated, and were present very early, but restated they were not among the original creators.

“When Hip-Hop first started, it was Foundational Black Americans (FBA),” he insisted. “Our Caribbean brothers and sisters got involved later, and then the Latino brothers and sisters started to rhyme, DJ, and B-boy later. We should tell the story truthfully.”

His views have been met with harsh criticism from Crazy Legs, a decorated breakdancer, and photographer Joe Conzo. DJ Rob Swift took him to task as well.

“Not all of the founders of Hip Hop say it was ‘100% Black,'” Swift tweeted. “Some first generation Writers were White. Some first generation B Boys were Latino. Felipe Luciano (member of the Last Poets) is Puerto Rican. The founders who say it was ‘100% Black’ are victims of the Mandela Effect.”

“The Latino brothers and sisters did phenomenal things with breakdancing, but we were doing that a decade before,” Nasheed told DJ Thoro.

Microphone Check faced a significant setback when it was removed from Amazon due to a copyright claim by Joe Conzo, who alleged unauthorized use of his images.

“Conzo caused the film to be dropped all over the country,” he said. “This was done to sabotage the film because we’re giving credit to pioneers who aren’t getting the recognition they deserve. Microphone Check is law. We got the pioneers in the movie telling their story. The truth is the truth.”

Oddly, Nasheed did extend an olive branch to those with differing views and said he hoped to have an open dialogue. “I’d love for us to get down, get some of the Fat Joes, Crazy Legs and others, sit down, and talk this thing out. Let’s get to the definitive story so everyone can be in agreement.”

None of the parties have responded to his offer at the time of this writing.

Veteran Rapper Chino XL Dead At 50

East Coast rapper Chino XL—real name Derek Emmanuel Barbosa—has reportedly died. An inside source confirmed the news to AllHipHop in a text on Monday (July 29). Friends close to him are calling it “soul crushing.”

Fellow rapper A-F-R-O posted a tribute to Chino XL on Twitter just minutes after the news started to spread. He wrote, “RIP to CHINO XL .. I’m gonna miss you, big bro.”

Chino XL was born on April 8, 1974, in the Bronx and later moved to New Jersey. Chino XL gained recognition in the 1990s with his debut album, Here to Save You All, released in 1996, which showcased his lyrical prowess and storytelling ability.

He’s released several albums throughout his career, including I Told You So (2001) and Poison Pen (2006). He’s also appeared in various films and television shows, contributing to his reputation as a multi-talented artist.

In addition to his solo work, Chino XL has collaborated with numerous artists across different genres and has been well respected for his contributions to the Hip-Hop community.More recently, he appeared on Rakim’s first solo album in more than a decade, G.O.D.’s Network: REB7RTH, on the track “Pendulum Swing.”

Bhad Bhabie Bashes Abusive Boyfriend After Reconciliation

Bhad Bhabie called out Le Vaughn, the father of her newborn baby, weeks after accusing him of abusing her. The controversial rapper/internet personality described her boyfriend as a gold digger on Instagram Stories.

“@xgamelv looking for a bbl Latina hoe must be rich and have a house and cars he can use,” she wrote.

Earlier this month, Bhad Bhabie posted evidence of Le Vaughn’s domestic abuse. She released a statement after exposing his violent actions.

“I love that man more than I love myself and it’s honestly really sad,” she wrote. “But unfortunately this is real life. I know the easy way out is to leave and that’s better said than done. This doesn’t happen this extreme often, but LV definitely has a problem. He’s going to get the help he needs. Right now there’s no room for mistakes. And he knows that. Who ever says they are there for me will b supportive of me no matter what I choose to do. Y’all know I give a mf hell but there’s no excuse for that at all what so ever. My point in sharing this wasn’t to attack him, it was for him to see what he does is wrong and too take accountability and make a REAL CHANGE.”

Fans believed Bhad Bhabie was saying she intended to stay with Le Vaughn despite his abuse. She challenged their assertion.

“I wasn’t gonna speak on this but who said I was staying?” she wrote. “What about that post made y’all think I’m staying? Bc I said I love him? Bc I said he’s gonna get help? I’m so confused and apparently so are y’all.”

Bhad Bhabie reconciled Le Vaughn, who denied her abuse allegations. The two were seen kissing on social media and at a Beverly Hills restaurant in recent weeks.

Tory Lanez’s Driver Admits He Didn’t See Who Shot Megan Thee Stallion

California prosecutors contested Tory Lanez’s request for a new trial after he submitted an affidavit from his driver Jauquan Smith, a witness to the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Smith claimed the prosecution didn’t allow him to testify in Lanez’s 2022 trial.

Smith said he saw Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris holding a gun during an altercation between the two. The driver acknowledged he didn’t see who shot Megan but noted Lanez attempted to disarm Harris.

“Ms. Pete [Megan] and Ms. Harris began fighting,” Smith explained. “I pulled over to stop them. Ms. Pete and Ms. Harris both got out of the vehicle and continued to fight, both verbally and physically. I broke up this fight and was pulling Ms. Pete toward the back of the car. I saw Ms. Harris with a gun in her hand. Mr. Peterson [Lanez] ran from behind Ms. Pete and myself toward Ms. Harris. Mr. Peterson and Ms. Harris began struggling as Mr. Peterson tried to unarm Ms. Harris. I was still pulling Ms. Pete and did not see who shot the weapon. I was not harmed, and in my opinion, Ms. Pete was also fortunate. The whole incident happened so quickly.”

Smith added, “I wanted to present this evidence during Mr. Peterson’s trial but was prevented from doing so as the District Attorney was not ready to cross-examine me, and later they did not call me back due to the holidays and the court schedule. I believe I should have been allowed to present this evidence at trial.”

Lanez, who was found guilty of shooting Megan, cited Smith’s affidavit as evidence warranting a new trial. Prosecutors disputed Lanez’s arguments, mentioning how his former attorney refused to call Smith as a witness in court. The California Attorney General’s Office insisted Smith’s side of the story wasn’t previously unknown evidence.

“Given these circumstances, defense counsel conceded that Smith would not have been a helpful witness because of his bias and the cumulative nature of his proffered testimony,” Deputy Attorney General Michael C. Keller wrote. “Recognizing that an independent eyewitness had placed the gun in the hands of Harris prior to the shooting, defense counsel explained that it would not ‘do anything’ to have appellant’s friend say the same thing.”

Lanez was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, illegal possession of a firearm and negligent discharge of a gun for shooting the victim in 2022. A judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison in 2023.

Tupac Shakur Family Recruits Jay-Z’s Powerful Lawyer To Investigate Diddy Rumors

Tupac Shakur’s family hired Jay’s lawyer Alex Spiro to explore resurfaced allegations regarding Diddy’s supposed involvement in the late rapper’s 1996 murder. According to TMZ, Tupac’s relatives also enlisted the help of attorney Christopher Clore and a team of investigators.

Diddy’s culpability in Tupac’s murder has been widely speculated for years. The Bad Boy Records founder, whose real name is Sean Combs, faced scrutiny due to his significant role in Tupac’s infamous beef with The Notorious B.I.G.

Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who awaits trial for Tupac’s murder, implicated Diddy in the deadly shooting. Keefe D’s claims received newfound attention in court documents filed by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in Nevada on July 18.

“[Davis] has asserted publicly that he only told on himself and wasn’t trying to provide evidence against anyone else in his conversations with police,” prosecutors wrote. “However, this statement belies this claim, as he suggested that Sean Combs paid Eric Von Martin a million dollars for the killings as well as offered to set up a surreptitious phone call with Terrence Brown, the driver, who, at the time, was still alive. “

Keefe D originally accused Diddy of ordering a hit on Tupac well over a decade ago, but no charges were ever filed against the Hip-Hop mogul. Diddy denied the allegations.

“Any suggestion of an indictment for Mr. Combs is irresponsible and unfounded,” a source told AllHipHop. “The notion that prosecutors have evidence that Diddy paid Davis is categorically false and defamatory.”

Keefe D, the alleged “shot caller” behind Tupac’s murder, remains in jail after a judge denied him bail in June. His next court hearing is scheduled for August 20. His trial is expected to begin in November.

Diddy is under federal investigation for sex trafficking allegations. Multiple women and producer Lil Rod sued Diddy for sexual assault over the past nine months.

Foolio Murder: Three Suspects Arrested As Police Search For Two Alleged Gunmen

Florida authorities announced three arrests in the Julio Foolio murder case on Monday (July 29). Sean Gathright, Alicia Andrews and Isaiah Chance were apprehended over the weekend in Jacksonville. They were charged with first-degree murder.

Police named two other men, Davion Murphy and Rashad Murphy, as fugitives in the case. Warrants were issued for both suspects.

Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones, was shot and killed at a Holiday Inn in Tampa on June 23. Three other people were injured in the shooting.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw identified Gathright, Davion Murphy and Rashad Murphy as the gunmen seen in surveillance footage of the shooting. Foolio’s killers traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa, following him from location to location on the day of his murder.

All five suspects were linked to the ATK and 1200 gangs. They faced life in prison for their roles in Foolio’s murder.

Authorities said ATK’s Yungeen Ace, Foolio’s longtime rival, was not under investigation for the murder. Earlier this month, a masked man claimed he killed Foolio to collect a bounty offered by Ace.

“There was money on his head,” the man said on social media. “I rock with Ace and them boys, ATK. I be in Jacksonville heavy. If you know you know. I did that. I handled that ‘cause Ace had that money on his head. Ace had done put that 10k up, told me to slide. Told me to smack fool ‘cause he got tired of that n#### running his mouth playing all the time. So, what had to be done had to be done.”

Ace celebrated Foolio’s death by releasing a music video for the song “Do It” hours after the murder. Ace wasn’t the only rapper with a brazen reaction to the fatal shooting. Spinabenz and Whoppa Wit Da Choppa dropped a video for their “Foolio Dead” track on July 26.
