Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Opens At #1; A$AP Ferg’s ‘Always Strive And Prosper’ Lands In Top 10

(AllHipHop News) It comes as no surprise that Beyoncé’s latest musical effort Lemonade lands in the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. The project totaled 653,000 equivalent album units (485,000 pure sales) in its first week.

At the moment, Lemonade has earned the biggest first week sales numbers of 2016. That accomplishment will more than likely be topped next week when the official numbers for Drake’s VIEWS are announced.

Besides Beyoncé, another debut broke into the top 10 of the 200 chart. A$AP Ferg has the second-highest first-week totals with his sophomore studio LP Always Strive And Prosper. The Harlem rapper moved 35,000 units and 22,000 in actual sales. The collection will open in the #8 spot.

The late Prince is still occupying much of the top 10. The Very Best of Prince fell from #1 to #2, and Purple Rain sits at #3. The music legend’s The Hits/The B-Sides (#4), Ultimate (#6), and 1999 (#7) are all among the best-selling albums in the country over the last week.

Damon Dash Responds To Memphis Bleek’s Comments About The Fall Of Roc-A-Fella (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Former Roc-A-Fella Records artist Memphis Bleek did an interview with N.O.R.E.’s Drink Champs podcast. The conversation included the Jay Z associate claiming he tried to warn Damon Dash about the fall of Roc-A-Fella and how the industry would turn its back on him. Dash responded to Bleek’s statements while speaking with Dr. Boyce Watkins.

“It ain’t no try to warn me. Bleek wanted to warn me? That’s how he felt, then he should have said, ‘Dame they’re about to cut you off.’ I never got that from Bleek,” said Dash. “I would have corrected him. I would have been like, ‘Brother, there is no cutting me off. I don’t want to be apart of that. I’m doing my own thing.'”

In addition, Dash expressed his belief that he was purposely kept from keeping control of Roc-A-Fella. While rumors about what caused the collapse of the Roc have circulated for over a decade, the label’s fellow co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke recently told Complex the intent was to sell the company once they raised its value.

“Once we did the deal with Def Jam the plan was to build to sell. There was a formula put in and it was a certain number times net, and probably the only regret was it should’ve been times gross but they weren’t doing any deals like that,” explained Biggs. “We wanted to sell in 2002 but we were having so much success they extended the deal for another three years. They didn’t think Jay was going to last this long.”

Pharrell & Flying Lotus Discuss The State Of Lyricism In Hip Hop (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The question of whether lyricism in Hip Hop will ever become the dominant factor in the culture’s music again has been asked for several years. Acclaimed producers/artists Pharrell Williams and Flying Lotus discussed the topic during an episode of OTHERtone radio with Scott Vener.

“Every generation says that. It’s just the art form changes,” said Pharrell.

The Neptunes member went on to offer that people may not appreciate the same quality of product as they once did. He also stated, “It’s evolution. We just have to be happy about it, and participate in leading.”

FlyLo added, “Here’s the good part. There’s room for everybody now. You can be super-lyrical… You can say stuff – just ride the beat, barely rhyming. And it’s all good. As long as the beat’s hitting.”

Pharrell also acknowledged OG Maco for his hit record “U Guessed It.” The Virginia native suggested the Atlanta rapper’s song helped take rap music to another place.

“It’s just a different world, so the rules have changed,” declared Pharrell. “I feel like there’s a lot of people that don’t know the world has changed.”

Birdman Addresses Issues With Charlamagne Tha God, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne & Trick Daddy (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Birdman had one of the most talked about interviews of 2016 when he briefly sat down with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club. The Cash Money Records co-founder recently did another Q&A with Ebro In The Morning which included Birdman addressing his issues with The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, and Trick Daddy.

On Charlamagne:

I think for a few years he’s just been slandering my name, not respecting me. To me as a man, it was deeper than music, so I just wanted to go up there and see what’s happening. Put some respect on my name…

I can understand a man with his opinion, and that’s respectable. But I feel when you’re going off the record and taunting me for years, I feel as a man I’m going to make sure that man respects me as a man. There’s no other way about that.

On Rick Ross:

Me and Ross were like brothers, everyday hanging together. One of the reasons we came to Miami is because them n-ggas embraced us. I don’t know what his call was to even get in me and my son’s business, so whatever business me and him have, that’s my son. That sh-t’s gonna work itself out.

I have the utmost respect for Ross. I taught him a lot of game in this sh-t. He watched my pimping, and he went and did his own thing with it. It threw me off…

I ain’t spoke to him or seen him. If we speak, we speak. I can go the rest of my life not speaking to nobody. I don’t give a f-ck about that.

On Lil Wayne:

I think it’s more of a misunderstanding than a money issue. If you knew me, I always gave Wayne everything he ever wanted…

Me and him talk. You best believe that situation is going to work itself out. Our relationship has changed. I always wanted to be part of my son’s life any kind of way possible. That’s important to me. I love him. We’re gonna figure it out…

Wayne’s always been his own boss. I never interfered in nothing Wayne wanted to do. I always embraced it. Me not putting out Tha Carter V, why wouldn’t I? I got a lot of money invested in Young Money and Wayne. I want to get some of mine back… I think the world deserves a Carter V. Whatever he wanna do, I’m good with.

On Trick Daddy:

I’m a straight gangsta. That n-gga been in my hood. He knows what’s happening with me. I guess a n-gga get on the radio and wanna be funny or something. That n-gga knows what’s happening with me. Google me. Call anything in the 504, ask about me, and watch what comes up. A straight G. I’m just a hustler. I’m a mastermind…

Ross and Trick, they had their opinion. They said that sh-t one time. You ain’t gonna keep hearing that sh-t. That n-gga on the radio station, he’s been playing with me for three, four years. He’s constantly playing with my name. Find you somebody to play with. That’s all I’m saying.

(AllHipHop News) Drake is surely riding high at the moment as his new album VIEWS is set to have the highest sales week of the Toronto rapper’s career. However, a singer named Keayana Coke is claiming Drizzy swiped her idea for one of the songs off the project.

Coke posted a video on Facebook last week that compares the two songs. She wrote:

Someone tell me I’m tripping ?and I’m a die hard drake fan but
How I send a clip of it to ya pops
Then 2 months later … U come out with the same song, same type of concept, different tempo, same title, same hook
EVERYONE NEED TO SHARE THIS

This is not the first time Drake has been accused of lifted the work of another artist. In 2015, Two-9 member Jace suggested the OVO leader stole the beats for “6 God” and “No Tellin’.” That same year D.R.A.M. stated on Twitter he felt Drake jacked his “Cha Cha” for “Hotline Bling.”

Obama Turned His White House Correspondents Dinner Speech Into An All-Out Roast

Last night at the White House Correspondents Dinner, President Barack Obama turned his spotlight speech into something you would see at a roast on Comedy Central. Although it was the last dinner for the 44th President, that doesn’t mean it had to be serious. From hilarious slides to Donald Trump, Obama didn’t leave anything on the table. He started out joking on his own speech material, stating that he would reuse it at Goldman Sachs, so he could get him some “Tubmans,” a reference to the Harriet Tubman who will be the new face of the $20.

Obama even bagged on Bernie Sanders, who was present at the dinner. The president mentioned the two’s distant according to MSNNBC,

“Bernie, you look like a million bucks,” Obama said. “Or to put it in terms you understand, you look like 37,000 donations of $27 each.”

The president even targeted Donald Trump, from why he wasn’t at the Correspondents Dinner, to cracking a joke about his lack of experience on foreign policy.

“There’s one area where Donald’s experience could be invaluable, and that’s closing Guantanamo. Because Trump knows a thing or two about running waterfront properties into the ground.”

Although Obama served jokes to almost everyone that night, the high point of his speech was when he literally dropped the mic to end his speech.

Young Thugs Pays Tribute To Recent Texas Floods And Prince In “Texas Love” Video

Young Thug has always been known for his odd demeanor, from his lyrics to his style of dress. Unsurprisingly this also leads into Thugga’s catalogue of music videos, which have always had a weird persona. This is also true when he is paying tribute to both the families who suffered from the Houston floods and (indirectly) the late legendary singer Prince through his video for single “Texas Love.” The set of visuals include news footage of the floods, and also features the Atlanta rapper in front of Prince’s iconic logo drawn in a bloody red color.

EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: AR-AB ft Kevin Gates – “How I Do It”

In an AllHipHop Exclusive Premiere, AR-AB delivers his highly anticipated song featuring Kevin Gates called “How I Do It.” The single comes on the heels of an interview with AR-AB where he discusses linking up with Kevin Gates, his relationship with Drake and how he’s turning over a new leaf speaking to youth in Philly.

“I’ve been doing a whole bunch of shows, I’m booked every weekend right now. I’ve been kind of busy doing that and I’m working on Who Harder than Me 4. I’m gearing up for this song with Kevin Gates, we are working out a video date and everything right now,” AR-AB explained.

The song itself is everything you would expect from Kevin Gates and AR-AB. The song is street and almost sounds like an extension of Kevin’s Islah album.

“When I came home from prison, I was talking to my manager and my manager had a plug with him, basically he was what I was listening to.  They got us on the phone together and he was going around speaking to the local youth, like at detention centers and thats what I’m doing so we stayed on the phone DMing and texting each other.  I didn’t even know he was going to be down at SXSW and we ended up doing this track,” AB explained of his Kevin Gates song.

Tupac’s Hummer Back On The Market For $100,000

(AllHipHop News) A Hummer that was once owned by legendary Rapstar Tupac Shakur has hit the auction block again.

Pac acquired the all black American Motors Hummer H1 just a month before he was gunned down on the Las Vegas strip in September of 1996.

The Hummer sat in storage for several years after Tupac’s death until 2003, when BET raffled it off in the “Picture Me Rolling” sweepstakes.

The Hummer eventually returned to Tupac’s extended family when Yaasmyn Fula, the mother of Outlawz group member Kadafi acquired the vehicle.

The Hummer was special to Mrs. Fula and her husband Sardar ‘Candyman 187’ Khan, owners of Havenotz Entertainment.

Tupac and Kadafi were god brothers.

Kadafi, who was also murdered in 1996 shortly after Pac’s death, spent many hours in the Hummer during the short time they were able to enjoy it.

The license plate included with the vehicle reads “YAKNPAK” as a tribute to the slain rap stars.

Also included are cassettes owned by Tupac including promotional cassettes for Michael Jackson’s Thriller and 2Pac’s All Eyez on Me.

The auction is scheduled to end on May 11.

The sale of the Hummer comes as shooting wraps up on a major feature film titled “All Eyez On Me” about the life and times of Tupac Shakur, which is slated for a November release.

Prince Memorial To Be Held In Los Angeles

(AllHipHop News) Fans will be able pay tribute to late icon Prince during a public memorial in Los Angeles next month (May 16).

The “Purple Rain” star, 57, was found dead at his Paisley Park studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota on April 21, and next Friday (May 16), Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti will host a memorial for the legend.

The event will be held at Los Angeles City Hall, where Prince filmed his music video for 1991 hit “Diamonds and Pearls.” The building has been lit up with purple lights in honor of the star since his passing.

Mayor Garcetti praised Prince following his death, releasing a statement which reads:

“Prince was a once-in-a-generation talent. His genius on stage, and in the studio, was matched only by his determination to protect the integrity of his art and defend the rights of artists to control what they create.

“Memories of his work take me back to my childhood – and years later, I had the good fortune to witness his brilliance during an incredible performance at the Roosevelt Hotel. That night, I spoke to him briefly about my admiration for his music. Today, I join people in Los Angeles and throughout the world in mourning the loss of a true icon.”

Meanwhile, Prince’s half-brother Alfred Jackson has spoken out for the first time since his sibling’s passing.

He tells Entertainment Tonight, “I miss my brother, because my brother was everything in the world to me. God bless Prince, God bless the world. He’s a legend, he really is. He was a genius.”

A Minnesota judge recently placed bank bosses at the Bremer Trust, National Association, in charge of Prince’s estate after determining the superstar died without a will.

The singer’s sister, Tyka Nelson, asked a state judge to appoint her as a “special administrator”, and insisted she would be an heir to her brother’s fortune, while their five half-siblings were potential beneficiaries too.

Prince’s assets have reportedly been valued at less than $150 million, according to TMZ.com.

Police Arrest Chris Brown Fan For Trespassing

(AllHipHop News) An overzealous Chris Brown fan has been arrested for trespassing on his California property for the second time in five months.

The R&B singer was at home in the early hours of Thursday (April 28), when his security guards spotted Danielle Patti outside his Woodland Hills pad.

Sources tell TMZ.com Patti had waited at the front gate until it was opened for another visitor, and then allegedly made her move to creep onto the grounds.

She was found by security officials, who detained her until police arrived on the scene to investigate. She was subsequently arrested on two counts of trespassing.

Patti appeared in court on Friday to face the charges, to which she pleaded not guilty.

Brown is now planning to file for a temporary restraining order against the woman, who pulled a similar stunt in December.

During last year’s incident, Patti, 27, was alleged to have driven her car onto Brown’s property and then refused to leave. She was taken into custody on suspicion of criminal trespass.

The obsessed devotee, who claimed to be dating the Kiss Kiss hitmaker, accused him of purposefully having her arrested, before trying to obtain a protective order against Brown amid allegations he had threatened her on social media.

She was granted the temporary order in early March, but an attempt to make it permanent was rejected by a Los Angeles judge weeks later after she failed to present evidence of the threatening messages she had received from Brown.

Brown is no stranger to fan harassment – in May, 2015, he returned from a trip to Las Vegas to find a female intruder lying naked in bed in his Agoura Hills home.

Amira Ayeb, an aspiring singer from Tunisia, was arrested and charged with felony stalking, vandalism and burglary. She denied the counts and was hit with a protective order banning her from contacting Brown for three years.

Did A Glitch In 9-1-1 Help Speed Up Prince’s Death!??

A glitch that was exposed in reports last year could have played a role in Prince’s death according to an investigation that started last year into the 9-1-1 response system.

According to an investigation, a serious glitch in the software the powers the 9-1-1 emergency system prevents operators from immediately knowing the person’s location where they are calling from. If someone doesn’t know the address, countless minutes are spent on the phone with an operator attempting to determine the caller’s location.

This is very problematic in emergency situations when a caller is frightened, injured or in serious danger. Take a look at this investigative video that just came out detailing how long it took for the people at Paisley Park to get their physical address to the 9-1-1 operator.
