Rockie Fresh has been taking a backseat to the bigger acts on MMG, but that does’t mean he’s quiet. Recently, the Chicago rapper released a new track called “Don’t Change” via Soundcloud. Compared to Fresh’s other MMG rappers, Fresh’s music takes a more experimental approach by bringing in producers like Lunice to collaborate with. Although the Canadian producer did not produce “Don’t Change”, the track manages to vibe well with Fresh’s dope rhymes.
(AllHipHop News) One of Hip-Hop’s early pioeers has died. Blowfly, nee Clarence Henry Reid, died from terminal liver cancer and organ failure.
The outrageous Miami recording artist represented one of the earliest incarnations of modern Hip-Hop as he got his start in the late 60’s. He claims he was the first rapper to have his song banned. “Dirty Rapp” dropped in 1980 and was not allowed on commercial radio. Other songs had titles like “Who Did I Eat Last Night?” and “Electronic Pu**y Sucker.” He released 30 Blowfly albums since 1971.
He has been sampled by DJ Quik, DMX, Method Man & Redman, RJD2, Jurassic 5, Big Daddy Kane, Main Source, Beyonce, Wu Tang Clan, DJ Shadow, Eazy-E, Mary J. Blige, Brand Nubian and others. Ol’ Dirty Bastard was often regarded as a modern Hip-Hop incarnation of Blowfly.
Frequent collaborator Tom Bowker dropped the news earlier today on Facebook.
Clarence Reid, the genius known both by his given name and as Blowfly, the Master of Class, passed peacefully today, January 17th, in his hospice room.

Flying Lotus said, “RIP Blowfly. Thanks for the insanity and the mask.”

(AllHipHop News) NBA star DeMar DeRozan has become one of the central parts of the Toronto Raptors’ playoff runs over the last few years. But before the Compton native was a millionaire professional basketball player, DeRozan was a teenager on an AAU team sponsored by Percy “Master P” Miller.
The AAU experience led to DeRozan becoming close with Master P’s rapper/actor son Romeo Miller, and he was able to see a Hip Hop mogul’s lavish style of living firsthand.
“I got to see both worlds. You see that lifestyle early on and you realize, ‘This is what it is?’” DeRozan told Yahoo Sports. “I already had my mindset when I had nothing. It’s cool to have all that, but it’s all about the work and the grind to get to that.”
The 26-year-old former USC guard is hoping to be selected to play in the NBA All-Star game in Toronto on February 14. Even if DeRozan does get recognized as one of the most productive players in the league again this season, he still recalls on advice from Master P about how to handle fame and success.
“Never get caught up in the lifestyle, because you can have it all one day and lose it the next,” stated DeRozan. “[Master P] really taught me that early on. So I think it, it helped me now, because no matter what I get, or how much I have now, I still remember what it feels like to have nothing.”
“I’m not here to say what I’m gonna do. When I was 17, I put out an album while my mother was dying of cancer…That’s hard…that’s tough for anybody…But, my music will speak for itself…my mother will be proud…my father will be proud. And nobody can stop me. Period.” – Lil Mama
Lil Mama begins her new EP with her own words as they were stated tearfully during a radio interview. On Take It Back, the rap mistress flows over hard beats and offers punchy bars, making it clear folks now that memes won’t knock her down. She’s been through some things in real life. She makes a compelling argument after listening to Take Me Back, where the Brooklyn beast flows effortlessly in the grand borough’s tradition.
AllHipHop got with the still-young rap mistress on a warm New York afternoon and got her take on a myriad of topics from social media to Top 5 DOA to memes.
#Hashtags
Each song on Lil Mama’s new project is titled like a hashtag, an intentional act to recognize the power of social media. “What better way to you know get my track listings than to put a hashtag as my numbers and use hearts, because I want people to share and like it for my numbers,” the lyricist tells us.
#Creative process
“If we talking ‘take me back,’ Take Me Back was all of these tracks that I felt were my favorites I pulled them up off YouTube and I just work them. I listen to the record I listen to the instruments in the record create hooks, create verses,” she explains.
Lil Mama is known for taking your favorite 80’s & 90’s beats and record and remaking them into music that fans can’t help but do the Kid-N-Play kickstep to. The 80’s and 90’s give her a wealth of music to sample. “It Takes Two” by Rob Base & EZ Rock get dusted off and updated. Lil Mama puts a spin on Snoop Dogg’s classic “Gin & Juice”. On the project, the New York rapper really emphasizes her love for all hip hop and the foundation. She ventures back to the days when her father first planted those hip-hop seeds deep into her creative consciousness.
She says, “This young cat (her dad) raising his kids. I came up in that era. So when I think back to ‘Gin & Juice’ like that’s the feeling I get sitting down with these dudes.”
#Top5DOA
With all the top 5 dead or live talk brewing up throughout the year and throughout hip hop history period. We asked Lil mama if she could be stuck in the studio with five people working on a project who would join her. Wasn’t surprise to find some dope some female artist and some New York rap legends on her list.
“Everyday in camp it would definitely be Jay Z, it will be Biggie Smalls, it would be Jadakiss, it would be Lauryn Hill, it would be Mary J. Blige. “
Affectionately, she speaks on her profound respect for the late, great Big L.
“My flow is immaculate and that man’s (Big L) flow was impeccable the way he rhymed. His sh*t hit. “
According to CNN, there is new information in the Bill Cosby case that may exonerate Mr. Cosby from all criminal charges. According to the information in this video it appears that the case may be thrown out after there was a behind the scenes deal with a former DA Bruce Castor and Cosby’s attorneys involved in the case.
Ironically, audio that surfaced of Bill admitting to the drugging women for sex was only given by Bill because it was agreed by all parties that it couldn’t be used in a criminal case. Due to that deal with Cosby’s attorneys the case might be a wrap. It’s all coming to the surface, so we will see what holds true, but things are def heating up. We also know now, as suspected that there was some sort of behind the scenes deals going on. Check it out below in this exclusive by Michael Smerconish of CNN.

At least we can say Meek Mill isn’t a quitter. Time and time again, the MMG rapper continues to make an attempt to clown rappers, even when he played victim to the massive shade thrown at him by Drake during the summer last year. Now, Meek is now aiming his sights on 50 Cent on his new surprise project, 4/4. In one of his songs off of the four-track EP, the MMG rapper clowns 50 over his recent bankruptcy, and also claimed he was co-signing “rats.”
The “co-signing rats” line from Meek’s new song refers to 50’s recent photo with the unknown assailant who allegedly went to the police to get Rick Ross locked up for kidnapping and battery charges during the summer. Rick Ross made an attempt to countersue 50 Cent after the Queens rapper took a picture with the victim, allegedly sending a subliminal message to extort Ross. 50 Cent threw shade at Meek during a performance in November, poking fun at the Philly rapper for getting destroyed by Drake’s#### diss-track “Back to Back”
People seem to really sleep on Nitty Scott. Not only does she have the skills that can rip possibly any MC, dropped several projects, and still doesn’t seem to get the credit she deserves from a majority of the HipHop world. Well, that might change once you hear her freestyle of the beat “Hieroglyphics.” Recently, the Brooklyn rapper went on the mic to rap over the banger, produced by Fast Life Beats, at the YouTube Space NYC.
