It looks like Jim Jones (still) isn’t feeling Love & Hip Hop’s Mendeecees or a recent post by Cam’ron about him. Cam posted a clip from Mendeecees’s music video with the caption,
“Yo @yandysmith the Boi @mendeecees might of caught one wit this.. And @therealkiss on it?! #Harlem”
In the clip Mendeecees raps,
“Tell me who the f*ck I’m snitching on, never that, never that; I’ve never been a rat……….street n*gga.”
Apparently Jim Jones was not here for it as he posted on Instagram,
“I see yal cool wit being cool wit snitches must b th new wave u n*ggas been talking bout.”
He went on to say,
“#TheDemiseOfTheReal but u n*ggas is #lit though lol cool.”
Jojo Simmons recently revealed he is retiring from rap to start a label. Jojo unfortunately was roasted on social media as many felt he didn’t even have a career to begin with or at least not one long enough to announce retirement. His first artist is a 17-year-old kid named Jacob Santana. Jacob bumped into Jojo Simmons in Long Island and spit for the former rapper. Jojo was so impressed that he signed him to his label, Whose House Ent. Do you feel Jojo retired too early? Did he retire before his prime? LOL. Name your favorite Jojo record!

Allegedly Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez are done for good after their latest altercation. According to Stevie J and his video evidence, the Puerto Rican princess set it off in their home. Apparently Joseline bleached, cut up, and destroyed $65K worth of Stevie J’s belongings during one of her jealous rants. Stevie said he had just returned to his home from a studio session with Faith Evans. Allegedly, Joseline was jealous of the time Stevie was spending with Faith. In Joseline’s “jealous” rage she also damaged his vintage $10K Bad Boy Jacket. Although, like most reality couples, Stevie J & Joseline have proven to be a pretty dysfunctional couple, we hear that this is all a big publicity stunt for their new VH1 show, ‘Stevie J & Joseline Go Hollywood’.

“Lights camera actions !!,” read a recent caption from one of the Coke Boys’ leader Instagram posts. In the past, the “Ain’t Worried About Nothin'” rapper has been seen in everything from his spitting freestyles on Smack DVD, to popping up on episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Songwriter, artist, model – James Worthy wears many hats. But the Atlanta-based entertainment insider has begun to gain notable attention as a producer for acts such as Truth Hurts, Yung Berg, Arrested Development, Dave Tolliver, and Sara Stokes of MTV’s Making The Band.
To be clear, Worthy doesn’t refer to himself as a “beatmaker.” He’s a traditional producer and self-taught instrumentalist. The Queens, New York native completely immerses himself in the full creation of the music, and his tracks provide a throwback feel to classic Soul/R&B while bringing in a touch of modern Hip Hop.
AllHipHop.com recently interviewed James Worthy to discuss his buzzing career. The DreammusikGroup CEO talked about his production influences, his affiliation with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, appearing on the Centric reality series From The Bottom Up, and more.
I’m originally from New York. That gave me a lot of inspiration growing up with different genres of music. I was a big fan of A Tribe Called Quest, and my favorite producer was Q-Tip. My favorite R&B group was Dru Hill.
I started researching, honing in on the craft, and checking out different producers. I learned about instrumentation. I was fascinated with the production aspect, and I started making my own tracks.
Were there any other producers that you studied?
Besides Q-Tip, I studied Timbaland, Organized Noise, and Pharrell. It really came down to anybody that was innovative at the time.
Do you typically work in the studio with the artists or do you send tracks to them?
It depends. Sometimes you’ll have a label who wants you to do a record with someone, and sometimes you can’t sit in the studio with that person. I do make it an effort to be in the studio with the artist, because it’s more of an organic feel.
You want to have that vibe and make sure everybody’s on the same page. Sending stuff back-and-forth through email, something could be left out that could be very important to the song. So it depends on what the situation is.
You mentioned labels. Can you talk about your affiliation with Roc Nation?
Shout out to Roc Nation. I’m not signed to Roc Nation. My cousin is an A&R for Roc Nation, so we do a lot of work with them. I do songwriting with Roc Nation, and we’re getting more into the production phase over there as well.
You’ve embraced working with artists of different eras. Do you change your style when you’re working with a more established artist like B Angie B and Robin S?
I like to work with artists from the 90’s or even before that who really had their time, but they were kind of left out of the transition of the industry. These are artists that have made their mark in the industry, so why not give them another hit record? If you’re doing that, then everyone’s going to come to you for that sound.
I also work with a lot of mainstream, modern artists. I’ve worked with Future, Young Thug, and Tip [T.I.]. I just did a record with Bone Crusher. I’m hands on with the new generation as well. My focus is to bring back good music.
You’ve worked closely with Sara Stokes of Making The Band. How did you connect?
I’m Sara’s producer. I do all of her new music right now. We’ve known each other for a while. We met and hit it off. Our chemistry is dope, and she has a great personality. I love her energy. Once we got in the studio, we never stopped making music.
Now we’re working on her new album. She’ll be on the new reality show From The Bottom Up. It’s a lot going on.
The show focuses on artists that are trying to rebuild there lives and careers after going through some tough times. With you working so closely with Sara, did you get any insight about ways to avoid some of the pitfalls that come with being part of the entertainment industry?
She’s been through a lot. I’ve been through a lot. Her thing is just to keep positive energy and positive people around her. I do the same thing.
She’s turning over a new leaf, so she’s letting everyone know what’s going on. Everybody saw the TMZ stuff, the bad stuff the media wants to put out.
She’s embracing that, because it’s all about growing, letting people know your story, and overcoming that adversity. When you see this new show, you’ll see she’s letting it all out for the world to see.
We’re letting everybody know that you can overcome anything. The success we’re having with our single, the success she’s having with this show, and future successes we’re going to have – that’s all God.
I read that you’re making a cameo on the show.
Yes, I’ll be in an episode with Sara. You’ll see us in the studio working on our single “Sneak Peak.” It’s a good platform for both of us.
Do you have any interest in doing your own reality show?
I’m not opposed to it. I’ve done other TV work before. I always say if it makes sense, then I’m definitely interested. Everything right now has to coincide with the brand.
You also worked with Bobby Brown Jr. Or is he going by…
King Jayare? I don’t really know what he’s going by now. But I’ve been working with Bobby Jr. for years. We’ve done a lot of music together. I’ve done records with him and his father. He’s a good kid.
I found it interesting he veered more toward rap as opposed to R&B, especially with his dad being the self-described “King of R&B.”
He does a lot of R&B as well. He raps, sings, and dances. He’s an entertainer just like his pops.
You’re from New York, and you work in Atlanta. There’s been a conversation over the last week about the state of southern Hip Hop. There’s some people that say rap music in the south – as far as its dominance – is on the decline. Do you feel like there’s a very distinct difference between what’s happening in Atlanta and other regions?
In the industry period, there’s a lot of creativity, but the actual substance or content in the music is lacking. A lot of times, you don’t really know what’s a “hit record” right now. It’s 50-50.
In the south region, I think a lot of the rap music – which could be considered Trap music – is going to fade out. It’s the same stuff being recreated over and over. I think people are kind of getting over it.
I think it’s time for good music to come back which is why you’re seeing a lot more R&B and older heads from back in the day coming out. Even rap music – I think more quality rap music is going to come back.
As a producer, I know you keep your ear to the street about the music scene. Are there any up-and-coming artists that have caught your attention?
There’s a ton of them. There’s an African pop star I’m working with right now. Her name is Zaena Morisho. She’s very huge in Africa and overseas. She’s gaining a fan base in the States right now.
She has a lot of other artists around her that are doing very well like Rey Fonder. He’s a phenomenal indie artist. I also like female rapper Marlé Blu out of Atlanta. There’s so many of them.
What can listeners expect from you this year?
You can expect so many things – singles, TV appearances, films, albums, modeling. I have a couple of singles coming out. Zaena Morisho’s “One Thing” is out now. I have a brand new single with B Ange B entitled “Shake.” That’ll be out on the 29th. I have a new single with Bone Crusher featuring Dave Tolliver of Men At Large. There’s so many different things.
Some members of Rihanna’s Navy are pretty upset that Rihanna’s ‘ANTI’ album still has not been released. They even went as far as launching a petition via iPetitions.com to have Rihanna release her album sooner rather later. The petition comes almost a year to the date of Ri releasing “Four, Five Seconds” with Kanye West and Paul McCartney. The petition goal is only 1,000 signatures. It’s going to take way more than that to have any affect. It looks like the Navy is just going to have to wait, and the album will come out when it’s supposed to come out. The ANTI World Tour kicks off soon, so the album will most likely be released prior to the tour kicking off. Are you anticipating the album? Rihanna was one of the most streamed artists in 2015, so someone is ready for this album!

(AllHipHop News) A$AP Rocky stopped by Hot 97 to promote the upcoming “Yams Day” concert at Terminal 5 in New York City on January 18. The interview also included the “L$D” rapper discussing his impact on Houston’s Travis Scott. Rocky was specifically asked about A$AP Nast claiming Scott was “stealing” A$AP Mob’s style.
“If you’re going to do something and influence people, you can’t be arrogant when someone gets inspired. When people get inspired, you can’t fault them for that. That makes you look crazy,” said Rocky. “They do say imitation is the best form of flattery.”
He added, “That man is doing his thing. He’s doing what he’s supposed to do. He’s getting fly. He’s f*cking b*tches. He’s making music. I don’t see the problem.”
In addition, the conversation with Ebro In The Morning featured Rocky speaking on the upcoming A$AP Yams inspired Cozy Tapes. The Harlem native revealed fans can expect to hear a lot of New York City based acts on the project such as Action Bronson, Pro Era, Flatbush Zombies, and Tanboys.
“[Cozy Tapes is] the Yams album he was working on before he passed. It’s basically like an A$AP collective like your Ruff Ryders’ Ryde or Die Vol. 1 or [The Diplomats’] Diplomatic Immunity,” explained Rocky. “[Yams] wrote down in his notes, and he would tell me who he wanted on there. We were about to start working on it.”
(AllHipHop News) According to reports, Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) has been arrested in Cape Town, South Africa. The Brooklyn rapper, born Dante Smith, was taken into custody at the Cape Town International Airport over charges related to a “fraudulent passport.”
South Africa’s Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete addressed the situation via Twitter, and he revealed Mos and his family have 14 days to depart the country.
Mos reportedly relocated to South Africa in 2014. Last year, the “Ms. Fat Booty” rhymer did an interview with Beats By Dre where he explained why he moved away from the United States.
“America’s really a very challenging place for me,” said Mos. “Sure there’s great business opportunities, but given the current social, political, economic climate it’s very difficult, unnecessarily difficult, to create to the degree of fullness, the type of robust creativity I like to have – it’s very difficult for me to produce that [in America].”
(AllHipHop News) O’Shea “Ice Cube” Jackson Sr. has had a memorable few weeks. The Hip Hop legend’s group N.W.A was announce as part of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame class of 2016, and his latest movie Ride Along 2 is set to hit theaters today (January 15).
While there is a lot to celebrate in the Jackson household, some fans were disappointed the movie Straight Outta Compton did not receive Oscar nominations for Best Picture or in any of the acting categories. Cube dropped by The Wendy Williams Show, and he was asked about his group’s biopic getting snubbed by the Academy Awards.
“I thought you guys would get more [nominations],” said Wendy.
“Me too,” replied Cube. “I’m not p#####. I’m not surprised. It’s the Oscars. They do what they do. The people loved the movie. The people supported the movie. Number one at the box office, over $200 million worldwide – I can’t be mad.”
The 46-year-old actor/filmmaker also spoke about getting inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. Again, Cube was not too concerned with receiving accolades from the entertainment industry.
“It’s nice to be recognized, but N.W.A was anti-establishment,” expressed Cube. “We’re used to people trying to dismiss what we got to say. We’re used to the industry looking down on us. We were the black sheep of the industry.”
Wendy and Cube also chatted about Ride Along 2. According to Cube, it was a lot of fun working with his co-star Kevin Hart who he called a “real professional.”
We haven’t heard much from TDE artist Isaiah Rashad since dropping his “Nelly” single. To kick off the new year we get a new single from Isaiah titled “Smile”. Debut album coming soon. Cop the track now on iTunes.
(AllHipHop News) Earlier this week, 2 Chainz found himself as the target of a diss track recorded by incarcerated rapper C-Murder. On the “2 Stainz” song, the former No Limit Records representative called out the Atlanta rhymer for stealing his TRU brand.
TMZ caught up with 2 Chainz. The Based On A T.R.U. Story album creator downplayed the conflict by making it clear he will not be releasing a response track. Chainz also stated he was a fan of No Limit, but he was never influenced by C-Murder.
“I didn’t even listen to it,” said Chainz about C’s diss record.
He added, “I’m disappointed that he’s upset, but I got nothing but love for the man. I hope he can come home and take care of his family. I ain’t got time to try and kick nobody while they’re down.”
After releasing singles “Sho Nuff” & “Best Friend” last year, Daz Dillinger & Snoop Dogg team up to deliver their new album “Cuzznz” in full via Felder Entertainment. The 14 track album is G-Funk at its finest with features including Dam-Funk, Kurupt & Shon Lawon. “Cuzznz” available now on iTunes.
(AllHipHop News) Rick Ross was among the stars – including Ne-Yo, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry and the Jackson brothers – to pay tribute to the King of Pop at Monster’s CES 2016 event in Las Vegas. The boss hit the stage at the “Healing the World – A Tribute to Michael Jackson” showcase to run through a few of MJ’s popular tunes. AllHipHop.com spoke with Ross to get his thoughts on what the global icon meant to him.
“I remember I was in LA going to the studio when he passed,” says Ross. “I remember the driver took me by the crib. We sat outside. I smoked one for the big homie. He’s the greatest.”
Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009. Often named the greatest entertainer of all time, the Gary, Indiana native was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, won 13 Grammy awards, and inspired generations of performers.
“Thriller – 60 million [sold] worldwide, 30 [million sold] in the U.S.,” adds Ross. “That’s something a boss always gotta pay homage to. That’s forever.”
What is it about this woman? Karrine Steffans, B. She has been doing her thing for a minute. She started for rappers and them moved to actors. And then there is Columbus Short. Dude was on top of the world as one of the stars of “Scandal.” And then it all fell apart. Now, they are married? Got damn.
She says:
“He is I and I am him, slim with the tilted brim…” ? See, that’s the thing about underdogs…those that overstand don’t stay under too long. Then, when you put two battle-tested soldiers together, and when these two touch and agree, no man can stop them. No woman, either. This man is my #MCM, my #MCE, and so much more. @officialcshort #MeetTheShorts
Can Saul Williams’ MartyrLoserKing get here any sooner? After what seems like forever, the audio opus is almost with us. The poet, actor and genre-breaking musician has decided to bless listeners with “Think Like They Book Say.” This one of the most potent songs of the new year and its a jagged mosaic of drums, synths and bars. Also, it looks like MartyrLoserKing will arrive January 29. Yes, Drake, Future and Migos are Hip-Hop…so is this.
Without a doubt, 50 Cent is one of the most legendary artists ever and that’s to this day. However, there was a time when he was closer to the dude that got shot multiple times. That dude that brought a few other guys from Southside Queens to form a fledgling rap act named G-Unit. On 50 Cent’s first mixtape there was a three-man riot called “In The House” with Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. But, it was 50 Cent that completely went psycho illmatic on the mic, anchoring the whole song. Check it out and remember the way things were in 2002.
Its been a while since we featured a track with Breeding Ground Artist Ryshon Jones, but he’s super talented and on “Nothing Like It” Ryshon Jones snaps. Linking up with Rochester producer Kidd Called Quest to deliver this heady cut, this track has a more aggressive feel than we are used to with Ryshon. This is also the second single off Kidd Called Quest’s latest album “Put Your Headphones On 2,” which also has records from Curtis Williams, Reks, Termanology, Scotty ATL, Wara From The NBHD & more
