Coogler has definitely made an impact on the film landscape with his latest work. He also earned praise for 2013’s Fruitvale Station. Mikey T The Movie Star spoke with Philadelphia rapper and Creed actor Tone Trump about working with the accomplished filmmaker.

“In the last five years, I’ve probably been to the movies three times. One of the movies I did go see was Fruitvale Station,” said Trump.

He added, “Fast forward a couple of years later. I get the chance to work with the director of that film that touched me so much, I couldn’t ask for more. It’s an honor to work with Ryan Coogler. It was even more of an extreme honor for him to look to me to be part of the film. He actually wrote me into the film.”

Fellow Creed star Tessa Thompson echoed Trump’s statements about Fruitvale Station. In a recent interview with AllHipHop.com, the actress/singer spoke about her experiences working with Coogler.

“It was incredible. I was such a fan of him from afar. I just love Fruitvale Station. I thought it humanized a headline in such an incredible way,” stated Thompson. “Ryan is just so cool. There are a lot of things in the movie that are actually improvisation. He is very collaborative. He takes the best idea. It doesn’t matter where it came from. I think that’s something that’s very rare to find.”

According to reports, the 37-year-old apologized to the city of Rochester as his wife Yandy Smith and their 10-month-old daughter sat in the court room.

Smith and harris were married live on Love & Hip Hop New York earlier this year.

On Instagram, he delivered a message of responsibility and regret.

I want you all to understand something. I completely accept responsibility for all that is going on. My transition to be a better person a productive person started well before this case. However in my past I made some bad decisions. Young men let my life be an example to you now before it’s too late. Better who you are now in your children’s lives and in society so you can change the path of your fate. Lack of opportunities, a fatherless home, the unforgiven neighborhood and circumstances you grew up in can no longer be your excuse. Trust me I tried. And it doesn’t make the pain your family feels any different. Young man educate your self and break the cycle. Don’t become a number on the DOA (dead on arrival) list or on the incarceration list. To my wife and children you are all strong and well prepared for this. This is just another brick laid down towards our house of happily ever after , walk with your head held high knowing I would never past the buck and put another family through what we have endured. Continue to walk in faith and love as you’ve done so well. To my peoples thank you for all the encouragement and support please continue to encourage my family. Thank you again all.

EXCLUSIVE: Master P Says He Will Not Be Strong Armed For Money From Ex-Wife Or Attorney

With a contentious court battle currently playing out in the news, No Limit founder and hip-hop mogul Master P is fighting to clear him name against allegations made by his ex-wife, Sonja Miller. Insisting that he’s simply doing what’s best for his children, he reveals that while he would love for his kids to be with their mother, her alleged drug use has contributed to the deterioration of their relationship, resulting in the children remaining in his care. Speaking to AllHipHop he went further into detail explaining,
No one wants to be with anyone if that is doing wrong. Maybe
maybe the court system should focus on that. Something is wrong with the picture when all 7 of the kids feel the same way and the words from Sonya’s own mouth were ‘Go live with your dad. My kids know I have a strong value system and education is first, so if they think it’s going to be a party my house would not be the place. I’m going to put this in God’s hands.
Largely ignoring the press surrounding the former couple’s ongoing court battle, he now feels that enough is enough. He added,
The false accusations about me, means nothing. I’m going to keep doing right by my kids and people that know me personally, know my true character. When people claim that things happen to them a long time ago and are not able to provide evidence or police reports, they are only false accusations coming from the attorney. I’ve been a celebrity for a long time, anything that I do would be news. I am praying for my ex-wife, she is being strong armed by her attorneys for money. Drugs have destroyed a lot of families but we will get over this. I have a lifetime commitment to my kids.

Young Thug Claims He’s Not A Deadbeat Dad; He Just Refuses To Go To The Hood

Photo via Young Thug’s Facebook

Young Thug has gotten in another heated debate with one of his baby mamas. His baby mama @my3whatsmatters_ says that Thugger hasn’t ever done anything for their child and the $1K a month he pays in child support is nothing. Young Thug says he can’t come see his daughter because there is a bed at the door in a 2 bedroom 1 bath with 17 people. He went on to say,

“I have a mansion with 12 empty bedrooms waiting for them. I refuse to come to Cleveland Ave, that’s called backtracking.”

Thugger says that when he gets full custody he can see his kids everyday, but until then he will continue to pay child support. They say never forget where you come from, but once you are able to remove yourself from an environment onto a better one then of course you would no longer choose to be “in the hood.” Also when you are an artist you can’t and shouldn’t be doing some of the things that you use to do. Now Thugger may have taken it a little bit too far by completely bashing his baby mama’s living conditions especially when he probably once laid his head somewhere with her and he slept with her. He really should be focused on getting his child in the best living environment he can ASAP.

Talib Kweli And Niko Were Victims In Racist Attack Overseas

Over the Holiday weekend, Talib Kweli and friend/label mate Niko were attacked before a show date in Copenhagen.

The activist rapper said that the assailants didn’t know that it was rap royalty that they were were attacking.

On Instagram, Talib chronicled the assault.

Me and @nikohigh walking into Christiania Copenhagen last night. One of my favorite places in the world until last night. I’ve been hearing about Danish racism on the rise. I witnessed it firsthand. I was attacked by two bigots last night saying they “hate me” and they didn’t even know who I was, they just didn’t like the color of my skin. It wasn’t an Internet attack, it was physical. I was hit and kicked. Thank you to @nikohigh for helping me get out of there. It goes to show you that racism and hate doesn’t stop for ppl with money or “celebrity” whatever that means. They stop nothing tho. The show still went on, Copenhagen was a great crowd. Even tho I will never see Christiania the same, a place I once wrote about for a travel blog as utopian, I will always love my fans in Denmark. Your love last night, especially while I was away from family during holiday, only made me stronger.

Rick Ross’ Ex Challenges Expenses In Her Sextape Trial Win Against 50 Cent

Lastonia Leviston, who won a lawsuit against 50 Cent earlier this year, is questioning the monies spent during the court of the trial. Leviston, who has a child with Rick Ross, won a $7 million lawsuit against 50 after it was ruled that he posted a sextape of her on the internet to intentionally humiliate her. The New York Daily News reports that since the money that she won is now being held up because of his bankruptcy trial, she is addressing the money that his lawyers from Brewers Attorneys are seeking from him.

Leviston wants the judge to dismiss some of the expenses included in the hefty sum of $123,455.92 that lawyers want from Fif. She reportedly wants the judge to dismiss the $57,241.76 in hotel expenses, saying that there were “more economic alternatives were available.” Leviston is also challenging the $26,890.90 spent on court reporter fees, $4,186.94 spent on travel expenses and the $14,800.66 spent on legal research.

50 Cent filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy back in July.

Are 50 Cent’s Extravagant Legal Fees Keeping Rick Ross’ Baby Mama From Her Money?

Photo via 50 Cent’s Instagram

One of the mother’s of Rick Ross’ children, Lastonia Levistion was awarded $7 million in damages to be paid by 50 Cent for intentionally “leaking” her sextape, but 50 has yet to make any payments. Leviston is now challenging the nearly $124K in expenses that 50’s bankruptcy lawyers are seeking over at Brewer Attorneys & Counselors. She believes the expenses are expensive and extravagant. Levingston is also questioning the fact that 50’s team spent thousands on court reporter fees, extravagant hotels, travel expenses, and legal research, when her own team spent less than $3K on the same trial. 50’s team doesn’t seem too worried. They believe their expenses were reasonable. Do you think 50 will have to pay up?
