Chicago, Illinois produces yet another rising rhymer looking to make serious waves in the rap game – Clark Airlines. Some of the rapper/producer’s immense talents are on display in the visuals for his single “Option.”
While Superstarr Beats provided the soundscape for the tune, Clark tackled the vocals and directed the video. Fans can expect to find “Options” on Clark’s forthcoming EP Trill Air.
“This visually is basically me poking fun at all the stereotypes of a ‘rapper’ from the women to the fancy cars,” states Clark. “When you tell people you rap this is pretty much what comes to their mind.”

(AllHipHop News) The Internet went in on Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave last week after reports began circulating that his latest album Major Without A Deal sold less than 4,500 units and 30 physical copies in its opening week. It was later clarified the digital sales numbers represented copies sold over only a three-day period, and the physical sales were actually illegal purchases since CDs were not supposed to go on sale until the following Tuesday.
Following the continuous bashing on Twitter over those low totals, Troy sat down with The Breakfast Club to talk about his new project. Of course, Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy, and Angela Yee brought up the uproar over his independent release.
“Basically it was like the ‘mom & pop’ stores had them, and if people came and asked for them early they was just giving them,” explained Troy “It was really this one store in The Bronx that sold the 30 copies. But shout out to them. They got my music out. I ain’t tripping.”
The BSB leader went on to express that he does not believe his sales equal a flop. According to Troy, being independent and apparently getting 95% of the revenue is a win for him, regardless of the final units sold.
“When you’re self-made and independent it don’t matter. You gotta get the slow grind. The [Jay Z] Reasonable Doubt grind. They gonna catch on later. And it’s gonna keep picking up,” Troy stated. “At the end of the day, I’m here to make money. I’m here to get the paper, and now I understand what Jay Z meant by ‘Can you really match a triple platinum artist buck-by-buck with only a single going gold?’ I can really match a platinum artist without even a single going gold.”
He added, “We’re getting 95%… no 90%. Five percent goes to my lawyer and then five percent goes to the distributor. But I’m so ill where I negotiated it where I need the distributor to pay 2.5 of my lawyer’s percentage. I pay the other 2.5. It’s all about having the leverage and doing what you want to do.”

Motor City heroes Slum Village have been established as a legit brand in Hip Hop for almost two decades, and despite all of their trials and tribulations they have continued to stay true to their classic, high quality sound with their latest project “Yes”. The group gave fans a treat a few days ago by allowing streaming of the entire album before its June 16th official release date. This album was produced in most part posthumously by the legendary J. Dilla, and this work of art surely stays true to the legend’s signature sound as it features a plethora of tracks to vibe to in addition to a soundscape very reminiscent of the 90s golden era. Young RJ and Black Milk also contributed to production on this album.
The first full track of the album is “Love Is,” featuring Bilal and Illa J. This track stays true to the R&B laced Slum sound, with Bilal contributing his smoothed out vocals to the catchy, buttery hook. The music has a classic soulful feel to it, reminiscent of the soulful grit of legendary crooners, such as Marvin Gaye and Isaac Hayes. A few tracks deeper into the album brings us to “Tear it Down,” which offers one of the more edgy and energetic tracks on the album. Here Jon Connor makes the most of his appearance with a memorable guest verse in which he solidifies himself as a player in the industry. Another track that is certainly a standout is “Push It Along”. This song has excellent production from Young RJ and Phife Dawg drops a quality verse that is interwoven into this track seamlessly.
The following track “Windows” is another piece of art that brings great energy to the table and is one of the more lyrical tracks on the album, with each artist painting a vivid image of the chaos that they see when they take a glance at the world.
“It aint sweet/Automatic llama squeeze/Kamikaze tryna kill everybody speech/Yeah we hunger but our mind’s bout to feast/Read the signs of the times then the signs of the streets/Yo define what is peace/Can you tell a merchant selling wool to a sheep.”
-Windows
Here T3 does does a great job of portraying the corruption, chaos and manipulation that is all too common in the world today. Can you tell a merchant selling wool to a sheep?
“Right Back,” featuring long time comrades De La Soul is another one of the standout tracks on the album. Once again J. Dilla comes through with his smooth jazz influenced sound, as the instrumentation includes a distinctly sentimental and nostalgic piano loop. In the closing moments of the album Slum Village makes sure to stay true to their Motor City roots by giving you a glimpse into life in their gritty hometown with pride on “Where We Come From”.
“Yeah witness yo they vanish you often relay/Tossed in the lake /Pray that it isn’t one’s fate/Yeah my city aint the shadiest/ It aint what they say it is/ Yeah we raise our babies here/We’ll love the wonder years/Build til we persevere/ Spirit of the pioneers/When the sun clear we switch gears”
-Where We Come From
Collectively, this album has high quality production and insightful, though provoking lyrics. This project is curated more so for already established fans of the Motor City group, but is sure to pique the interest of new ears as well as the classic 90s influenced sound and appreciation for lyricism is back on the rise. Or at least we could hope right? New fans or not this project shows that Slum Village is primed to continue grinding and cooking up music for the soul.
Lyricism: 8/10
Production: 9/10
Cohesiveness: 8/10
Replay Value: 8/10
Overall: 8/10
Standout tracks: “Tear It Down”, “Push It Along”, “Right Back”, “Love Is”

(AllHipHop News) During an interview with The Breakfast Club in May, actress La La Anthony was very open about her upcoming topless sex scene on the Starz series Power. Ever since the former MTV VJ and reality show star let the world know she would be baring it all on screen, some people have been anxiously waiting to see Carmelo Anthony’s wife nude.
One website attempted to placate the waiting fans by leaking footage of the scene. It appears MediaTakeOut’s decision to jump the gun and release visuals from the forthcoming episode could be costly. Power executive producer 50 Cent posted an Instagram video threatening to sue the gossip site for leaking the Anthony content.
“Shout out to MediaTakeOut for showing La La some love and showing her scene early,” says 50. “For doing that, I’m not gonna take it personal, so don’t take it personal with me when they sue you til you’re blue in the face.”
The article has since been removed from MTO, but it is unclear if that will stop 50 or the executives at Starz from continuing with a lawsuit.

(AllHipHop News) Tyler, The Creator is still upset with Dr. Boyce Watkins for his role in the Odd Future leader losing a partnership with Mountain Dew. In 2013, Tyler directed a series of commercials for the soda company, but the ads were pulled after Watkins and others complained the content was racist and misogynistic.
Watkins referred to Tyler’s work as “arguably the most racist commercial in history.” The California native responded to the criticism by stating, “It’s a young black man who got out of the hood and made something of himself… But instead of looking at the positivity from that, [Watkins is] trying to boycott Mountain Dew.” Ultimately, the PepsiCo brand decided to cut ties with Tyler.
Hot 97 recently uploaded an interview with Tyler, The Creator to the station’s YouTube page, and the subject of the commercial controversy was brought up. Tyler expressed his issues with Watkins not communicating directly with him, and he made it clear he refused to apologize for his creative work.
“I never apologized for that sh*t,” said Tyler. “What am I apologizing for? I did nothing wrong. N*ggas was like, ‘We should put out a statement.’ I’m not doing sh*t.”
Later during the discussion Tyler addressed Watkins. The “Deathcamp” rapper did not hold back his feelings about the author/social commentator.
“I’m not out here shooting n*ggas. It’s little kids that hang out where our store used to be. Every time I see them kids I say, ‘Don’t do drugs.’ I’m out here trying to tell kids, ‘Don’t f*ck up,'” Tyler added. “I’m out here not promoting f*cked up sh*t, and for someone like that to look pass all of that and point out some bullsh*t – f### that. F*ck Boyce Watkins. He’s a b*tch. His daughter’s a fan.”

Are Chinx’s widow and his newly emerged baby mama becoming sister wives? Chinx’s wife Nelli (@Therealnelli_) says that her, Chinx and Patricia (@Trishhii) already knew Patricia was expecting, and the three had been handling it privately. Chinx’s wife seems to be okay with the fact that one of her husband’s mistresses is expecting. In fact, they’ve had lunch and dinner dates. It seems like more and more entertainers are getting their significant others, wives, past girlfriends, baby mamas etc to get along these days.
(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month Willie D revealed the Geto Boys were heading back on tour together and a new album from the Texas group could be on the way. It is now official. Willie, Bushwick Bill, and Scarface are recording a new LP. The Geto Boy’s reunion album will be titled Habeas Corpus and is being funded through a Kickstarter campaign.
Fans that contribute to the crowdfunding effort can receive exclusive perks such as fan club membership ($5), limited edition CD and photo book ($25), access to the New York City listening party ($55), playing a round of golf with Face ($3000), and a custom-made casket ($10,000). They are looking to raise $100,000 by July 15, 2015.
“I’d like to take credit, but the fans really made it happen,” Willie D told Rolling Stone. “It’s hard to get all of us on the same page, ’cause everybody’s always doing their own thing. We are three totally different people. We didn’t grow up together. We’re not blood-related. We didn’t go to the same schools, didn’t grow up in the same neighborhood. The one commonality that we do share is being in the group.”

Allegedly the mother of Chris Brown’s daughter, Nia Guzman, apologized to Karrueche for breaking up Chris and Karrueche’s relationship, and any pain she’s caused. Supposedly Guzman told Karrueche that she’s sorry for everything that she’s done. Guzman was sure to let Karrueche know that she has no relationship with Brown. Wait! How is Chris Brown’s homewrecking baby mama going to tell Karrueche to be positive? How is she going to say she’s sorry? She knew what she was doing when she became involved with Chris. Don’t be sorry homewreckers; be careful. Just kidding. Don’t homewreck at all.
(AllHipHop News) Eminem already has two diamond-selling albums on his resumé (The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show). The Detroit rap legend can now add two diamond-selling digital singles to his list of accomplishments as well.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded Em with a diamond certification for the single “Not Afraid.” After previously earning that recognition for “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna, Eminem becomes the first artist to have two digital singles sell over 10 million copies.

This singular achievement – earning a Diamond Award on two separate digital songs – is unparalleled, and we congratulate him on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history,” said RIAA Chairman/CEO Cary Sherman in a statement.

Christina Milian says her and Lil’ Wayne are not talking wedding bells at the moment, “But if it happens, you never know.. it’d be cool. I’m always open to wedding bells.” Christina seems to be just going with the flow and concentrating on her “work”. Do we really want anymore music from Christina? Is she delusional to think that Wayne may ever marry her?
