Tax Season podcast host Tax Stone led the deliberations in The Bronx’s This Is It, and Jadakiss was among the emcees named as the Top 5 DOA. The Lox member later joined in. Kiss also spoke about why he has not reached the same level of mainstream success as some of his contemporaries such as Jay Z.

“I might be too real for whatever that means. They don’t really want to let real n*ggas get all the way in. We got to sneak in. It ain’t going to be that easy of a task for n*ggas like us, cause they know what we we’re going to do if we were to get in a position like that,” said Jada.

Toronto Artist Tory Lanez Addresses Rumored Beef With Drake (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Tory Lanez looks to be the next star to emerge from Toronto. His single “Say It” is a Top 10 hit on the Hot R&B Songs and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts. The track has also led the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artists chart.

As Lanez’s buzz continues to grow, comparisons to another rapper-singer from Canada are sure to follow. There have already been a few instances that appeared like Tory was taking shots at OVO leader Drake. Tory once tweeted he did not like people referring to his hometown as “The 6,” a nickname made popular by the “6 God” rhymer.

Lanez also seemed to throw a subtle jab at Drizzy during a freestyle on Sway In The Morning when he rapped, “I know these n*ggas about to act scary. T.O. n*gga, only spitting without the Blackberry.” Drake famously rapped from a Blackberry phone during his own freestyle on Hot 97 years before.

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Tory downplayed any speculation he has issues with Drake. The 23-year-old Mad Love artist even came across as if he has mellowed out about Toronto being referred to as The 6.

“Me personally, I feel like the term is kind of corny. I later took [the tweet] down, because I realized I didn’t want to alienate a certain audience. And anything that gives the city legs, regardless, should be supported,” said Lanez.

As far as those Blackberry bars, Tory did not directly mentioned if they were meant for Drake. He skirted around the question when it was brought up.

“Is that a shot?” asked Lanez. “I was on Sway, and I didn’t rap with a Blackberry. I was stating the obvious.”

Puffy recently stopped by the Sway In The Morning radio showand host Sway Calloway asked the Bad Boy Entertainment boss about possibly teaming with Hov.

“Me and Jay – we’ve talked about it. We said we want to pick the best one,” revealed Puff. “It’s going to have to be that one thing that gets it all the way popping. For other people, it was DreamWorks. When DreamWorks happened, it made it okay for strong, visionary, idealistic leaders to get together and figure out how to navigate.”

He added, “Sometimes you don’t do it, not because you don’t want to do it – it’s almost out of respect for someone else, you may just want to stay in your lane. But I think that’s the only way we’ll be able to get true economic power. If we do more things together. That’s the next level for Hip Hop.”

Puff Daddy stated he is open to building with any of his peers including Jay Z. According to the Harlem native, there have been discussions among Hip Hop artists about working together in the business realm.

Photo via 50 Cent’s Instagram

All weekend fans have been watching the InstaBeef between Rick Ross and 50 Cent. 50 won’t stop trolling and Rozay won’t stop responding. It seems like things really took a turn when Ross brought 50’s son into the beef saying,

“@50Cent your son applied to be a intern at @untouchablemmg and it will be processed as you well know I go t40 cars/200 acres and a mower w/ his name on it. #ImWhatYouUsedToBe.”

When news broke that 50’s son Marquise was allegedly trying to intern with Ross, fans begged him not to take the “internship.” Most fans told him that he is just being used, and he is better than that. A lot of fans told him to be loyal to his father despite the fact that they haven’t had the best relationship in the last few yeas. Ross’ comment was disrespectful also. We wonder how this will end up. Do you think Marquise will end up MMG? LOL.

The festivities are being conducted in celebration of the incredible strides in social justice facilitated by The Gathering for Justice. Founded by Harry Belafonte in 2005, and led by Executive Director Carmen Perez since 2010, the organization was born out of a need to address the criminalization of black and brown people. Mr. Belafonte was inspired to start the organization after watching a television special on a 5 year-old black girl named Jaisha Scott who was handcuffed by police officers in her Florida classroom for being “unruly”.

Over the past decade, under the leadership of Ms. Perez, The Gathering for Justice has also given way to the development of Justice League NYC, a task force of social and criminal justice advocates, activists, and formerly-incarcerated individuals. This past April, Justice League NYC led the March2Justice, marching with over 100 Justice Champions on a 250 mile journey from New York City to Washington DC. Upon arriving in DC, Justice Champions delivered a “Justice Package” to Congressional leaders which included legislation to address inequities in the criminal justice system, end racial profiling and put a stop to the militarization of law enforcement. For the past ten years, The Gathering for Justice has worked in the community and facilitated a number of trainings, and programs that elevate nonviolence and illustrate the importance of restorative justice.

“We’re coming together at the Justice Ball to celebrate an unbridled spirit and our hopes for the future,” said Ms. Perez. “We’re at a critical juncture in our country’s history where the issue of who gets justice and how has captivated the consciousness of America. There’s an incredible amount of work to be done but our focus is on what we’re building, and cultivating. We’re celebrating the spirit with which The Gathering for Justice was founded and the belief that we have the ability to change what obtaining justice means for future generations.”

Did Rick Ross Call His Goons To Come “Pop” 50 Cent?

Photo via Rick Ross’ Instagram

As we know Rick Ross and 50 Cent are still beefing, and trolling is an art form. Apparently Rick Ross made a call for backup as he called some of his “goons”. A video has been floating around showing his associates saying they would “pop” 50 Cent for him. This has to be one of the corniest videos ever. One of Rozay’s associates is way too hype also. The crazy part is, who would post a Facetime video communicating threats on social media? Self incriminating much? Most fans commented on the stupidity of a person that would post a video like this. Others pointed out that Rozay was the same one canceling shows when he feared for his own life. People are just out here posting conspiracy to commit murder videos huh? Oh okay. Carry on.

OG’s Introduce Kev Cartier and his “ROLLIE” Feat. G-Lloyd – (Official Video)

Kevin Maurice, popularly known as Kev Cartier is an American rapper, songwriter and producer who was Brooklyn born and southern raised. This 22-year-old Brownsville native is the lyrical mastermind behind the catchy club banger, “Rollie”.

Coming from a family with deep roots in the music business, Kev was practically born for this. He’s represented by his father and three uncles who have been in the game for 20+ years, producing tracks for the likes of Brooklyn greats, The Notorious B.I.G, Lil’ Kim and Rakim.

For Kev, while music is in his blood, the artistry of rap didn’t take hold until the early age of twelve. He attributes the influences of BET and Hot 97 to his induction into the game after hearing Jay Z’s verse on Mya’s “Best of Me” Remix. From then on he would rap over instrumentals, write, produce and freestyle. Kev’s inborn talent would quickly become noticed. His debut single “Rollie” which was entirely recorded as a free style would capture the attention of Brooklyn rapper G-Lloyd (of Pocketful Entertainment) who is also featured on the hot track; rapper, Mike Davis of Dream Chasers expressed wanting to collaborate on a remix.

Kev Cartier’s buzz is building as an emerging voice of an underrepresented generation. “Rollie” has since been featured on Power 105, Hot 97, SiriusXM, Spotify and YouTube. It’s currently available for purchase on ITunes. http://tinyurl.com/qyunjc2

Are Churches Going Too Far With Hip Hop Remixes?

It seems that churches have been going up on Sunday’s with Hip Hop covers, remixes, and renditions. The question is has it gone too far? We’ve even heard some “Trap Gospel” songs. Is this too much or is this a good way to pull in a different demographic to Gospel music? Is this a way to make Gospel music appeal to today’s youth? Lately congregations have been “Hotline Blinging” and “Milly Rocking” for Jesus. What are your thoughts?
