Chaz Ultra Ft. Zuse – “101 Cups”

Since relocating to Atlanta earlier this year, Chaz Ultra has been connecting with artists and producers throughout the city including DJ Spinz, Dun Deal, FKi, Southside and more. With a new mixtape titled Off The Clock set to arrive sooner than later, Chaz connects with Zuse, who is currently on the road with Tech N9ne as a part of the Special Effects tour and recently joined T.I. as the features on Tech’s single “On The Bible”. Ultra’s new single “101 Cups” comes produced by Wheezy 5th (production credits on Young Thug’s Barter 6 including “Constantly Hating”). With plenty of content lined up and on the way, this serves as a small taste of what’s to come for the young rapper in 2015.

David Versis – “Possession”

David Versis is a Canadian artist/producer born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. More than anything, Versis’ music can be described as gritty. There is a raw emotion behind each word, and it’s presented in a unique way that blends seamlessly with his heavy instrumentation.

Versis has released multiple mixtapes, including the 2012 release “PSALMS”, and has also produced on albums such as Yo Gotti’s “I Am” and Wiz Khalifa’s Grammy nominated album “Blacc Hollywood“. Most recently, Versis released “Warhol”, a 8 song EP featuring production by Versis himself, Arthur McArthur and Mikhail.

Joe Young Drops Preview For 2015 Reality Show

While working on his latest offering “We Are Young” slated for release in September and solely produced by The Heatmakerz & Amp on the Track, who delivered a cut after producing the chart topping Dizzy Wright single “I Need Answers”, Joe Young is working his reality show The Young Life to give a inside look at his 2nd album .

“Whats different about this show is, you get unscripted, real emotions, we didn’t yell “Cut” when it got too personal or hectic” Joe Young elaborates. The show takes a look inside what Joe Young goes through to get his songs done and what goes on behind the scenes.

Agallah Ft. Ras Kass – “Rolling Stoned”

“This is the story of my life that I put down from all my trials and tribulations I had, living life, being in this rap game and making sense of what reality has dealt me,” Agallah says when speaking of his fourth solo album Agalito’s Way. “And more or less, just making sure that I get back to my star power and let people understand and know that I was built for this music game. No matter what’s going on in this genre, I’m still something to be reckoned with.”

Featuring Ag’s signature production along with appearances from Big Daddy Kane, Ras Kass, Prodigy, Chino XL, Sean Price, Rock, Termanology and longtime collaborator Ike Eyes all make guest appearances on Agalito’s Way.

“Whatever they want to label my career, Agalito’s Way shows that I still got dope music and that I’m still representing to the fullest.” Agailto’s Way drops May 5 through Empire Distribution.

Who Is Irv Gotti Taunting?

Photo by Johnny Nunez Wire Image/ Getty Images

Is Irv Gotti simply reminiscing about the good ol’ days of Murder Inc or taunting Ashanti? Ashanti posted a video clip from Ja Rule’s “The Pledge” remix video on her Instagram. Irv Gotti wasted no time pointing out the lyrics of the song.

“You know that I can’t see myself living without you, being without you, breathing without you. What you done to me. You know that I can’t see myself living without you, being without you, breathing without you. Hahahha. Nice Words @Ashanti.

Ashanti replied saying,

“Yeah I know! Thanks! & I’m STILL cool with everybody!!!”

Irv replied again with more of the lyrics sounding a little bitter and nostalgic as he said “It’s still MURDER Til The casket drops.” Ashanti replied once again saying,

“Like I said Thanks! & Again I’m STILL cool with Everyone! & I hope it remains!!”

Irv leave that girl alone!

EXCLUSIVE: Mobb Deep Returns To The Stage As “The Infamous” Turns 20

Juvenile Hell may have been our first official introduction to Mobb Deep, but it was the 1995 release of Infamous that delivered their first taste of critical acclaim and mainstream fame. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since Prodigy and Havoc first burst onto the scene, yet as the anniversary of their first commercial hit comes around, the duo sat down with AllHipHop to reveal just what their breakout project means to them:

In one word: everything. It’s the reason for everything. It always like, makes me trip out, like bug out when we perform that song and the crowd goes bananas.” They added, “It’s always mind blowing. Nowadays when we be performing, some of the kids in the crowd be like 19, so they wasn’t even alive when it dropped and they be singing it word for word.

In celebration of the album, they’ve brought in Alchemist, Smif-N-Wessun and more for a star-studded concert with sounds provided by Funkmaster Flex. For more information on how you can be in the building as they crash the stage April 26 click here.

Education & Hip Hop Youth: “The Souls of Crack Smoke”

The LATH Cover (SE) In the American literary classic, “The Souls of Black Folk,” W.E.B. DuBois eloquently describes the twoness the African American population feels living as both an American and also as a Negro: “…two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings; two warring ideals in one dark body…” I’m sure if Mr. DuBois was a prophet, in his brilliant analysis, he would have warned us about the “Threeness,” a third personality that would arise in many of us in days to come – the crack cultured 70’s & 80’s baby.

In discussions of education and youth engagement, the havoc the crack cocaine epidemic brought to inner cities and American society as a whole has been greatly underemphasized. Quietly behind the stories of drug addiction and family destruction, heart wrenching statistics of mass incarceration, and high numbers of chemically imbalanced babies born addicted to a narcotic they never chose for themselves, stands another compelling story. It is the story of reversed economic and social progress; a tale of inverted generational rankings and the narrative of communal bastardization.

Though many of us were not crack dealers, the soundtrack to our formative preteen and teenage years was filled with crack rock Hip Hop anthems widely distributed by mega media corporations. We watched multimillion dollar budgeted urban crack street tales projected on the silver screen. And we saw all these exaggerated figments of entertainment play out daily in the real world around us. With little in place to counteract the real life traumas we experienced in our neighborhoods and the “D-Boy” media glorification of the 90s, the value system of many of us born in the Hip Hop generation (1970s and 1980s) became skewed. Inflicting violence upon peers became fun, disrespecting young ladies became normal and preying on the sicknesses and weaknesses of others for financial gain became a way of life.

Growing in this culture there became a threeness: As Americans we simply wanted to live in peace within our country and enjoy the American Dream that we’d heard so much about. As Black Americans we understood that America has had contempt towards us since her inception and we must continue to fight against her racist ways in order to obtain peace. As Black American crack cultured 70’s & 80s babies we stood in the midst of an internal civil war, fueled by hatred. We rejected mainstream acceptance while warring against our own common kinsman who shared our same struggles. Three warring ideals in one dark body.

As a result of lack of resources, ineffective social intervention and crack culture being reinforced through the decades in pop culture, many of today’s youth have been taught to normalize crack values, resulting in a trauma organized culture that praises immediate and short term success, irrational risk taking, degradation of peers, violent behavior and youth supremacy. In the crack culture, the kid is king. It is important to understand that one’s environment and experiences have an effect on one’s social and emotional states. Social and emotional states have an effect on one’s values and one’s values have an effect on one’s behavior. Much of our education and alternative education systems continue to make the mistake of addressing the behavior of our at risk youth and not the values their behavior is rooted in.

In Dr. Sandra L. Bloom M.D.’s paper Creating Sanctuary In The School it states “The injury model says an abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal behavior.” The dysfunction we see in much of our youth is simply a normal reaction to the dysfunction in which society is nurturing them. Unfortunately, many public school educators, with no fault to themselves, have not been properly educated and trained to effectively engage their students who are nurtured in these social realities. One of the most effective ways to motivate a person is to engage in what they value. We can no longer afford to have our children’s socio-emotional literacy ignored. Segments of school curriculum must directly address the immediate realities and values of the students being taught. If the entire school curriculum is of a nature foreign to the value system of the student, the student will continue to be disengaged.

Children learn best in the context of relationship. This is why both urban youth culture competency training for school staff and authentic Hip Hop curriculum for students are necessary. Due to the pain, complexity and maybe even guilt attached to the waywardness of our young people, there is an instinct by society to flee from confronting this growing crisis. It is irrational to expect our youth to endure complex traumatic experiences daily, while being saturated by the world around them with sex, drugs, excessive materialism, violence, etc., and then sit and focus for six hours in a classroom while teachers teach lessons that are totally irrelevant to their daily realities.

Our children did not create the social conditions or value systems in which they are nurtured. As we continue to ignore the socio-emotional state of our Hip Hop youth, these Pop Crack values continue to grow and spill across socio-economic, ethnic, gender and religious boundaries. As the legendary rap group Geto Boys once stated, “The World Is A Ghetto.” And though Hip Hop has been blamed as the problem, we may discover that it is in fact the solution.

Does Nas Have A New Boo?

Photo via ATL Pics

Nas has been spending time in Barbados with Vanessa Bronfman the daughter of Seagram heir and former CEO of Warner Music Group Edgar Bronfman Jr.. and sister of DJ Hannah Bronfman, leading some to speculate that the two are dating. Nas and his reps are downplaying the rumor but we don’t know if we believe they were there at the same time by coincidence.

According to Page Six :

We’re told the two were spotted together over the weekend on a catamaran during a vacation. One source said the rapper — who was previously married to singer-turned-chef Kelis — is “totally smitten” with Vanessa. But Nas’ rep told us that the two ended up on the island by “complete coincidence.” She added: “He was there for his best friend’s wedding. They are cool and friends, though. Just not together.”

A Crazed Beyoncé Fan Is Threatening Jay Z?

Photo by Kevin Mazur Getty Images

Allegedly a crazed Beyoncé fan has been threatening Jay-Z and Roc Nation! The obsessed fan, a woman, allegedly sent threatening letters and emails to Jay Z and his company because she hates him and wants Beyoncé to split up with him.

A source told Bossip:

The messages say that the fan will kill Jay-Z if he doesn’t leave Beyoncé. The source says the letters and emails have unnerved Roc Nation staff, but Jay-Z told them to ignore the threats. But when the fan made an amateur attempt to hack Jay-Z’s Twitter account, his staff were able to obtain the fan’s twitter handle and email address, which they handed over to private investigators. “Even though Jay is brushing it off, everyone is worried,” the source said, “since there have been cases of people shooting people and then committing suicide right after.” Nearly all of the fan’s tweets critique Beyoncé’s life and choices, try to find out where she is and generally hate on Jay-Z. The person only posts Beyoncé pics and uses a snap of Beyoncé as her profile picture.
