Hip-Hop Rumors: Chris Brown And Trey Songz Tour Not Selling Tickets?

This tour is supposed to sell out crowds left and right, everybody loves Breezy and Trigga right?

Well…the heartthrobs aren’t getting much love with ticket sales of their show and may have called off a few dates.

Billboard Magazine reports:

“Chris Brown recently canceled his headlining show at Minneapolis’ Target Center arena due to unspecified “scheduling conflicts,” according to the Star Tribune.

The real reason, however, may have been poor ticket sales. The show, with an attendance cap of around 20,000, had only moved about 3,500 tickets, according to Billboard’s sources. This appeared to be the case with most dates on the tour.

The show had originally been rescheduled before being canceled after Brown violated his probation.”

Hip-Hop Rumors: John Legend Not With Kanye's Grammy Antics

The world watched in horror as Kanye West approached the 2015 Grammy stage during Beck’s speech for winning Album of the Year.

Yeezy quickly left the stage and everybody laughed it off as a joke, but Ye’ has come out and said he wasn’t playing, Beyonce’ should have left with that award.

G.O.O.D. Music’s John Legend says he although Kanye is his friend he disagreed with his actions.

Legend posted:

“I want to clarify my thoughts on Kanye’s actions at the Grammys on Sunday. First of all, Kanye is my friend. He believed in me years ago when very few did, and I wouldn’t be here without his support. That doesn’t mean we’ll agree on everything, but it does mean that I am grateful to him. And I also believe he is one of the most gifted people I’ve had the privilege of working with.

In my comments to US Weekly, I said that when Kanye walked up on stage, mimicking his interruption of Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech, then turned around as if he was just playing, most of the room including me saw this as funny, as a way of taking the p### out of himself for his infamous behavior several years ago.

When I said that was funny and people should lighten up about it, that’s what I meant. I wasn’t referring to Kanye’s comments after the show which I have now seen and heard. I disagree with those comments. Beck is indeed a true artist’s artist. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, a creative and unique singer-songwriter whose music I have bought and enjoyed over the years. While his win may have been a surprise to many, it’s not because he’s not a great artist deserving of recognition. All of the other nominated artists, including Beyonce, are incredible in their own right, and arguments could be made for any of them deserving to win. This is not an objective process. It’s completely subjective, in fact. We can all debate who we thought should have won. But even if you didn’t vote for him, plenty of our colleagues in the music business did. These voters are all creators who love music and have dedicated their lives to it, and the plurality of them chose Beck as the Album of the Year. I respect their decision and congratulate Beck on this outstanding accomplishment.”

50 Cent Explains Why He Feels Beck Deserved To Win The Grammy Over Beyonce (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent has a different opinion than his former commercial rival Kanye West about Beck’s Grammy win over Beyoncé. Kanye declared Beyoncé was essentially robbed of the “Album Of The Year” award win the Academy voted to honor Beck’s Morning Phase. In contrast, 50 believes the right person took home the trophy.

“[Beck] produced the record, wrote the record. It’s eleven producers on Beyoncé’s album,” 50 told People. “Kanye, being a producer and a writer, should see that. But we get jaded.”

The Queens rapper may have explained his reasoning for why Beck deserved the award, but he was not offering praise to the Grammys overall. 50 stated people probably do not care about “those establishments” anymore and pointed out how he lost the 2004 “Best New Artist” award to rock band Evanescence.

“I felt that I deserved ‘Best New Artist’ for my first album [Get Rich Or Die Tryin ’],” he added. “It’s the largest debut in rap with 13 million records sold, and when’s the last time you’ve seen Evanescence? Crickets, crickets. It’s just the way it is.”

Best New Artist has been one of the most controversial categories throughout the award show’s history. Other questionable Best New Artist wins include Marc Cohn over Boyz II Men (1992), Paula Cole over Erykah Badu (1998), Shelby Lynne over Jill Scott (2001), Bon Iver over J. Cole (2012), and Milli Vanilli winning in 1990.

Malcolm X's Daughter: If Hip Hop Artists Are Going To Use The N-Word, Then Everybody Should Be Able To (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Ilyasah Shabazz admits that she listens to some Hip Hop, but the daughter of iconic activist Malcolm X is not fond of the word “n***a” being used in a lot of the songs. She spoke with TMZ about the use of the N-word in rap music.

“If you’re going to use it, then everybody should be able to use it,” Shabazz told a cameraman. “So if you don’t like other people using it, then we shouldn’t use it.”

Last year, Shabazz also took issue with the word “n***a” when Nicki Minaj posted the famous picture of Malcolm X looking out of the window to her Instagram page. The photograph was used as promotion for Minaj’s song “Lookin’ Ass N***as.” Shabazz called Nicki’s use of the image “disrespectful.”

Shabazz spoke about her father’s legacy during the TMZ interview as well. Even though the 52-year-old author feels Malcolm’s birthday is not celebrated at the level it should, she is optimistic about the younger generation’s appreciation for his contributions.

“I think that this generation – they are understanding and appreciating the fact that he was a very young man that sacrificed a lot,” she stated. “In 12 short years he made a significant impact around the world.”

Patriots Cornerback Brandon Browner Blasts Kanye West For Beck Grammy Incident

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West has once again p##### off another celebrity because of his Grammy night actions against Beck. Ye’s decision to protest Beck’s “Album Of The Year” victory over Beyoncé by stepping on stage did not sit well with New England Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner.

Browner blasted Kanye on Twitter and called out the “Only One” rapper for pulling the award show move for the second time. Kanye famously interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs, again to protest Beyoncé not winning.

Swift was actually nearly 20 years old when the Video Music Awards incident took place and she has since been seen publicly hugging Kanye. Despite the age error, Browner had more opinions on the G.O.O.D. Music leader.

West was also chastised by alternative rocker Shirley Manson. The Garbage singer wrote an open letter where she told Ye he was making himself “look like a complete t###.”

While other celebrities have come out to defend the Morning Phase album creator, Beck seemed unbothered by the whole ordeal. He is quoted saying: “I was just so excited [Kanye] was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody” and “I still love [Kanye] and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.”

Snoop Dogg Shares His Thoughts On The Grammys By Using Picture Of Macklemore

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop’s issues with the Grammys extends all the way back to 1989 when members of the community boycotted the telecast, because the initial “Best Rap Performance” award was not being aired on television.

Fast forward to 2015 and again none of the rap categories were shown during the broadcast. There was also controversy surrounding last year’s ceremony when Macklemore’s The Heist won the “Best Rap Album” trophy over Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed good kid, m.A.A.d. city.

One rap representative is ready for Hip Hop to completely ignore the Grammys altogether. West Coast legend Snoop Dogg posted a picture on his Instagram page which points out Macklemore has picked up more Grammy awards than some of the greatest artists from the culture – combined.

Snoop captioned the photo with a very blatant statement, “F**k the Grammys. We need a Hip Hop show for real n***az and real MCs.”

F### the Grammys we need a hip hop show for real n#####. ?✨? n real mcs.

The 57th Annual Grammy Awards: The Biggest Night In Music

Although Sam Smith and Beck dominated the 57th annual Grammy Awards, there were many other happy and notable winners such as Beyonce and Pharrell. Both stars pulled in 3 Grammy wins each along with Rosanne Cash. Plenty of music’s top earners grabbed a smaller share of Grammy glory, including Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett , Tiesto , and Rihanna (Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, with Eminem). Beck shocked a few by nabbing the award for Album of the Year. The biggest night in music was hosted once again by Grammy Award-wining rapper and actor LL Cool J and broadcast on CBS live from the Los Angeles’ Staples Center.

Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney lit up the stage with their performance of”FourFiveSeconds” Seeing this improbable and unique collaboration in person is possibly why many tuned in. Rih’ was expressive with the vocals, Kanye West’s Auto-Tuned assisted verses added flavor, and McCartney’s mere presence alone was enough to seal the deal especially with his guitar and backing vocals. Beyoncé won more than the BeyHive’s hearts with her performance of “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”. Some, especially Kanye West, felt Queen Bey was robbed of the album of the year award, but win or not Bey brought her skilled vocals to the cover of the Thomas A. Dorsey gospel classic, soaring with her highest vocal registers at various moments. Kanye West even beat Beck to the microphone and jokingly reenacted his 2009 interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. Icon Prince also gave viewers a hint of cultural commentary going on to state “Like books and black lives, albums still matter.” Madonna wowed the crowd with her dance filled performance of her new single “Living for Love.” Kanye West performed the ode to his young daughter North West “Only One”, and Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett teamed up for a powerful performance that included a medley of his hits.

Obama spoke out against sexual violence via a video cameo appearance. His speech would hopefully be a mirror reflection of the beliefs of those in attendance in regards to the desire to end sexual violence against women. He brought awareness to the White House’s “It’s On Us” campaign. Katy Perry then followed with a great performance of her Prism ballad, “By the Grace of God.” Annie Lennox joined Hozier for a performance of “Take Me to Church”: This was clearly Sam Smith’s night. The man won four awards. He also was one to steal the show when he partnered with Mary J. Blige for a soulful performance of “Stay With Me,” which was reprised at the end of the show.

AC/DC opened the show. They proved to be an interesting choice but nonetheless brought it with their back catalog, and the musical evening closed with John Legend and Common performing their Oscar-nominated hit “Glory” from the movie “Selma.” It’s safe to say that Hip Hop fans were pleased that this year Kendrick Lamar took home a pair of awards — for best rap performance and best rap song.
