Tracy Morgan did his first televised appearance since his near-fatal six-car accident last year. He sat down with Matt Lauer on the Today Show and discussed his the emotional ups-and-downs of his recovery.
Morgan says that his family has been “keeping his spirits up” through this rough time but he is still grieving the loss of his longtime friend James McNair, who died after the crash.
“The case is settled, but the pain is always gonna be there for Jimmy Mack,” he said. “He was a close friend of mine, a comrade in comedy, he was a loving man. He was a warm man. He was a good man, and it just hurts me to see that he’s gone. That’s it.”
The 46-year-old comedian settled a lawsuit against Wal-Mart last week. It was a driver of a Wal-Mart truck who was driving 20 mph over the speed limit and struck the limo bus that Morgan, McNair and others were riding in that caused the accident.
The West Coast keeps churning out talent Summer after Summer. Next up – Joe Moses, who has been consitantly putting out material for the past few years. With the release of his recent project ‘Brackin’ this song “Be The One” follows up his guest verse on Ty Dolla’s recent track “Only Right”.
Is Erykah Badu pregnant? According to her, the answer is no. She did take time out to poke a little bit of fun at herself as a response to a rumor that Media Take Out started or ran with. The singer said she’s a little bit fluffy right now, and perhaps she shouldn’t have eaten beans before her show, but she’s definitely not pregnant.
The doctor who was blamed for Kanye West’s mother’s death is hoping that his name can finally be cleared. Dr. Jan Adams said that it was in fact West’s cousin, Stephan Scoggins, whose negligence once Dr. Donda West left the hospital led to her death, according to the New York Daily News.
“Most people that I run into think she died on the table, they don’t even know this lady was home for a day,” Adams told the News. “The truth hasn’t been revealed.”
Adams said that Scoggins, a registered nurse with a Ph.D in public health, cared for Dr. West after she left the hospital after her liposuction, breast reduction and tummy-tuck surgery, even though Adams recommended that she receive care at a private recovery center.
Adams claimed that Scoggins left Dr. West with friends who were not qualified to take care of her, did not hook up the patient monitors in her bedroom and did not answer calls when Dr. West needed to be tended to.
Dr. West was also took 20 Vicodins for pain and choked on her own vomit after laying flat in her bed. She died on Nov. 10th, 2007 and the coroner’s report stated that medication used for pain and vomit were contributing factors to her death.
When confronted about the allegations, Scoggins told the Daily News that “it is absolutely not the case.”
Kanye West has not commented on any of these claims.

Rumor has it, Kanye West is helping Kylie Jenner get on in the music industry. Well we know she was in his fashion show, but apparently Kylie wants to put out some music too. Allegedly, Ye’ has been working with Kylie one-on-one to make sure she’s successful. Kylie’s mother, Kris Jenner, confirmed that Kylie has in fact been taking singing lessons. Lil’ Mama made a lot of noise with the release of her new “Sausage” video, but some of it wasn’t praise. Some have accused Lil’ Mama of being a culture vulture for stealing the very popular “Sausage” song created by Matthew Belamy from Miami. Belamy has opened up to tell his side of the story. According to Belamy, Lil’ Mama reached out to him acknowledging him as the creator of the song and inviting him to be a part of the video shoot. Lil’ Mama allegedly invited him to New York for the shoot. When Belamy said he couldn’t afford it, Lil’ Mama allegedly told him to look up two Greyhound tickets. Not Greyhound though.
Was Lil’ Mama’s video/single creative enough for you?
After T.I gave us hope that there was a ATL sequel on the way back in March, Lauren London has cautioned fans not to get too excited.
“It’s not definitely in the works,” she told The YBF. “I don’t want to be the spokesperson for it. I don’t want people take my word for it. So, no. Right now it is a concept and there’s a lot of possibilities with that.”
T.I uploaded flicks via IG earlier this year of he and London, Jason Weaver, Jackie Long, Albert Daniels and director Chris Robinson all on set the movie. The “No Mediocre” rapper went on to say in an interview that all the cast members were returning.
“Nobody’s saying ‘No, I’m not doing it,’ regardless of any success they’ve assumed afterwards or how many other projects they have to work on,” Tip said. “Everybody’s coming back.”
Va Beach, VA emcee YoungN’ flips “It’s Alright,” pulled from his classic “Streets Is Watching” project. For all those who are already familiar with YoungN’s artistry, you’ll notice how parallel his bars in this freestyle are to HOV’s original version of the record.
Producer, engineer, instrumentalist – these are all labels on the résumé of St Louis raised, Chicago based artist Drew Mantia. The self-described “one-man-band” parlayed his formal musical training at Webster University into a production career that includes time working with Chance The Rapper, Twista, and more.
On June 15, Mantia is dropping his full length album Feel Good Music. The collection includes the cuts “Good Day,” “Send It Back,” and “Kill Yo Ass.” The 24-year-old’s LP will also feature the ProbCause assisted single “No Lie.” The song was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Mantia.
Drew Mantia connected with AllHipHop.com to premiere the laid back track laced with Prob’s rapid fire rhymes and additional vocals by Brittany Lee Moffitt. The multi-genre wiz kid also gave insight into how “No Lie” came together, the Hip Hop scene in the Windy City, and the variety of themes presented on his Feel Good Music album.
Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Timbaland, Kanye West, Steve Jordan, Daft Punk, and Kimbra.
You mix and engineer all of your own music as well. How does having those technical abilities impact your work when producing an artist’s vocal performance?
I’ll make suggestions to adjust their vocal tone, so it’s sounding out of their mouth closer to how I hear it mixed in my head. The good technical vocal performances I want as an engineer tend to also be the captivating and energetic performances I want as a producer.
You’ve had the chance to work with some of Chicago’s biggest rap stars like Twista and Chance The Rapper. What’s the creative energy like in the city at the moment?
Good vibes alongside hard work and opportunity. I know myself and the people I’m working with are having a great time and feeling as creative as we ever have. We also have confidence that if we do great work it will get heard. If you’re making good music in the Chicago Hip Hop scene, there’s a lot of opportunity for you right now.
Are there any particular artists that you haven’t worked with yet that you would like to hear on your production?
Mick Jenkins, Joey Purp, Noname Gypsy, and Eryn Allen Kane.
What was it about the track for “No Lie” that led you to get ProbCause to add verses?
I gave him a pack of demos for his new album and he picked that beat. It’s straight up a song I produced for his album. We later decided it added something more special inside the context of Feel Good Music than it did on the ProbCause album.
Plus, there was no shortage of my production and solid material on his album, so he could let me grab it. A few of the tracks were born that way, recorded originally for the artist’s album. So you know they gave me good bars. [laughs]
The title is kind of self-explanatory, but what can listeners expect from the Feel Good Music album?
A lot of featured vocals. Expect it to deliver on what the title implies, but it’s not a one-trick-pony, there are surprises coming. It’s a big ask these days, but give it a beginning-to-end listen and you’ll be surprised and feel good. Expect to possibly ask yourself on a few moments though, “This is feel good?”
The first singles “Send It Back” and “Good Day” are all “good times, we’re feeling great.” The next single “Kill Yo Ass” had some darkness to it. Even “No Lie” to some degree. I wanted more song content than the obvious lyrics “Feel Good Music” evokes.
Stevie Wonder made anti-war songs that feel good, sad songs, songs about evil that feel good, along with all the love songs. It’s about the feeling it gives you, not necessarily the content of the song. So expect to definitely feel good, but expect a little more range than what “Feel Good Music” may imply.
Karrueche is letting it be known that she can take pics with any guy that she would like to. In fact, she is letting it be known that she can do whatever she would like to do period, regardless of how her ex Chris Brown chooses to act. Someone made the good kid mad. Kendrick Lamar served as the headliner for the Sweetlife Festival this weekend (May 31), which was held by the salad chain Sweetgreen. Before he kicked off a performance of “m.A.A.d city,” the TDE rep searched the crowd for a fan to bring on stage under one condition: they had to now all the words to the track.
He ended up picking Sweetgreen CEO and co-founder Jonathan Neman, but he stage time was cut short when he failed to know the words and was “ad-libbing as he went along” K-Dot said. He then picked a female fan who went word-for-word with the “i” rapper.
Troy Ave kicked it with AHH this week and let us know why he’s major without a deal. Troy has decided to stay on the indie route for the start of his career instead of signing to a major. One would think it would be pressure on an artist with no major to try and resurrect the music scene of his home region. Especially NYC since its a never ending debate about how New York hip hop is dead.Currently the record “Doo doo” has been picking up popularity. When asked about the success of it he said “we independent so it aint nothing that we doing that you can predict..i dont really have expectations I just put my best foot forward. Troy ave’s independent album “Major Without A Deal” is coming this summer 2015.
Leo Brixx, a rapper/singer is repping the 757 is a dope up and coming emcee that bring more than just catchy hooks & ad-libs to catch the ears of the masses. This VA native knows how to put together a well-crafted songs and reels you in to his music through his striking visuals.
“Chances ain’t s–t if you don’t take one. Mansions full of b—hes, bout to rape one,” croons a voice that’s sounds very similar to Rich Homie Quan on the leaked song “Day 1.”
RHQ was caught up in a media firestorm after similar lyrics about sexually assaulting women were discovered on his track “I Made It.” Quan later apologized for the unfinished version of “I Made It” leaking to the public. But “Day 1” sounds like a finished record, and the rape lines are actually part of the song’s chorus.
The lyrics are probably gonna p### people off, but if Rich Homie Quan “keeps it real” in his music, this could turn out to be an even worse situation for the Atlanta rapper.
Check out the “Day 1” track and video of Rich Homie Quan’s interview with The Breakfast Club where he talked about his songs leaking.
(AllHipHop News) Young Money boss Lil Wayne was in St. Louis over the weekend to take part in the 4th annual LooseCannon Celebrity Basketball Game. Wayne lived up to the event’s name when he was caught on camera confronting a referee supposedly over bad calls.
The game was billed as “Slim’s LooseCannon Vs. Lil Wayne’s Young Money.” A portion of the proceeds went to the “Put Down The Pistol” campaign.
Video taken at the Chaifetz Arena shows Wayne attempting to confront a ref, but the rapper was held back by his team and others. Audience members can be heard asking, “Is he mad for real?”
This is not the first time Wayne has lost his cool at a sporting event. In 2013, the New Orleans native was caught on video cussing out a cameraman at DirecTV’s annual Beach Bowl football game. Then Wayne was seen trying to fight Marcos Maidana following the boxer’s bout against Floyd Mayweather in 2014.
Though not directly part of Wayne’s recent situation, Slim was previously involved in a videotaped altercation as well. In January, footage of the promoter in a brawl with R&B singer August Alsina hit the internet. That fight took place at the same venue during the “State of Emergency 2” non-violence concert.
Lil Wayne attended the 4th annual Celebrity Basketball Game between LooseCannon S.L.I.M. and Young Money at the Chafitz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.
During the game, Weezy got annoyed at the referee for bad calls and tried to start a fight before getting kicked out. Check out the footage..
(AllHipHop News) The ongoing struggle between Apple, Tidal, Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, and Rapsody for the streaming market has led to allegations of smear campaigns, sabotage, and backroom deals. As music streaming becomes this generation’s preferred method of consuming music, there is a lot of potential profits on the table for all of these competing companies.
In order to draw in users, the streaming services are each trying to add features to its particular brand. Tidal attempted to separate itself from the pack by offering high quality sound, exclusive content, and the idea of it being an “artist owned” service.
Several entertainers including Jay Z, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Daft Punk, J. Cole, Rihanna, and Usher were among the acts presented as part owners of Tidal. But many other notable superstars did not sign on as partners in the company. One of those being Drake.
Billboard Senior Branding Correspondent Andrew Hampp spoke with Bloomberg Business about Tidal and its rivals. Hampp claims Drake was close to joining Jay and the rest of the high-profile Tidal backers, but Apple executive Jimmy Iovine apparently convinced the “6 God” rapper to hold off.
“Apple has incredible marketing spend and brand power. Whenever they launch a new product, they go big. They’re spending a minimum of $100 million that first month,” said Hampp. “Tidal spent maybe $10 million marketing itself. There’s also the fact Jimmy Iovine has directly gone after all the artists who were supposed to be involved with Tidal. Drake was literally a Tidal partner until two days before the launch. Then he mysteriously disappeared.”
This revelation comes in conjunction with a New York Post report that claims Drake was offered $19 million to become a guest DJ on Apple’s iTunes Radio and other opportunities. Iovine reportedly joined Apple as a “special adviser” on creative matters after Apple bought Beats Electronics in 2014. Beats was founded by Iovine and Dr. Dre.
Jay Z briefly mentioned Iovine in his controversial “Tidal Freestyle” at the B-Sides Concert in New York City. The Tidal investor rapped, “Pharrell even told me go with the safest bet. Jimmy Iovine offered a safety net. Google dangled around a crazy check.”
