(AllHipHop News) Bobby Brown is seeking to get guardianship of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s estate reports WXIA. The 22-year-old daughter of Brown and Whitney Houston is still hospitalized at a Georgia medical facility after being found unresponsive in her home in January.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Whitney Houston named Bobbi Kristina as her only heir, and Patricia Houston is the present executor. Houston’s estate is estimated to be worth around $20 million.
There have been conflicting reports surrounding Bobbi Kristina’s medical condition. Her father claimed Bobbi Kristina was “awake,” but her grandmother, Cissy Houston, has stated there was no change in her condition.
Cissy Houston’s attorney issued the following statement to WXIA:
This is a family matter involving sensitive information. We hope to resolve this in a manner that is respectful of Bobbi Kristina’s sensitive health information. The Houston family has always looked out for the best interest of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The family has done so all of her life and will continue to do so. We trust that others have the same objective.
(AllHipHop News) Jay Z went on a rare tweet spree yesterday (April 26) in order to defend his new streaming platform Tidal. One of the tweets included Jay accusing other companies of engaging in a “smear campaign” against his service.
The New York Post is reporting music industry giant Apple is purposely interfering with Tidal’s placement on the company’s App charts. Last week Tidal fell out of the top 750 applications in the App Store and dropped out of the top 40 on the music apps chart.
A source told the Post, “[Apple] deliberately took a long time to approve Tidal iOS app updates. Tidal had a new app on Android on April 15, but still hasn’t received approval for Apple’s iOS app store.”
There are also claims that Apple’s Vice President of iTunes Content, Robert Kondrk, told executives at Universal Music Group that if their artists put music exclusively on Tidal they would not be promoted as featured artists on iTunes.
A source also says Rihanna’s music was “scrambled and were out of commission for periods of time” in the iTunes store after she premiered her “American Oxygen” single on Tidal. Apple denied any tampering with Rihanna’s music, but declined to comment to the Post on the other accusations.
Several high-profile artists are part of Tidal’s ownership group including Jay, Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna, Jack White, and J. Cole. Each of those artists have provided exclusive content on Tidal.
Apple is set to relaunch its own Beats Music streaming service in June. Beats Music is currently ranked at number 10 on the Apple Music Apps Chart behind Pandora (1), Spotify (2), and SoundCloud (3). Tidal is currently at number 49.
(AllHipHop News) Scarface has been in the music game for 25 years, so he has witnessed some memorable moments. During an interview with Sway In The Morning, the Houston representative shared several stories of his time touring with the late Tupac Shakur.
“Pac would always start fights. He used to go on before me. [He would say], ‘Next motherf*cker to throw something up here, I’ll give you $100 to beat his ass,'” Face recalled. “He’d go back and get the bag from off the DJ stand and slide the glocks out and clear the g####### arena out. I was so f*cking mad at Pac for three shows.”
The “Smile” rapper goes on to add that seeing a picture of Pac’s deceased body caused him to become extremely emotional. He spoke about the moment when he found out his friend was shot in Las Vegas.
“I was on my way back from California, and they called and said, ‘Pac got shot,'” stated Scarface. “Me knowing Pac like I know – this crazy motherf*cker – he’s gonna get out of this sh*t. He’s gonna be alright… That day they say he died, that was a f*cked up day for me.”
Watch Scarface’s interview below.
As much as we want Hip-Hop to be an art form based solely on skill, contemporary culture often dictates otherwise and turns it into popularity contest. And while opposing points of views, different styles, and controversy all have their place in helping progress be made, sometimes they overshadow the music.
The result of that is headline-grabbing stories instead of songs. In the best case scenario, negative publicity can pave the way for good music. Or, in the worst, the music can never eclipse the other attention and it’s more harmful than helpful.
So, here are 10 rappers we love to hate, therefore proving that there’s really no such thing as bad publicity.
10). Kanye West: Mr. West is an amazingly skilled producer and rapper whose consistency is second to none. He has not only produced classic beats for some of rap’s elite, but also made one of Hip-Hop’s best albums ever, his own My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. However, with an unrivaled ego and level of arrogance, one of the music industry’s best talents also has one of the worst reputations.
09). DMX: In the late 90’s, he was one of the most successful and popular rappers on the planet. But in the years since, his drug addiction, legal woes, and family drama has plagued his career considerably. And people have been just as interested in his fall as his rise. The fact he was able to laugh at himself about it though in 2014’s Top Five does help him a bit.
08). Riff Raff: He is more of a character than a rapper, and people like to dislike him because there are so many better emcees deserving of the spot he got through gimmicks. And any shred of credibility he has acquired over the years has since been lost because a bodyguard tackling someone at one of his shows recently is the most publicity he has ever received.
07). Birdman: As the co-founder of Cash Money Records, he’s famously rich and infamous for mistreating his artists (Juvenile, Mannie Fresh). Even Lil Wayne, one Hip-Hop’s biggest stars in recent years, is currently suing his longtime label, Cash Money Records for $51 million dollars- the sum of various costs that Cash Money owes Wayne and Young Money but have yet to pay. And in case people forget, Birdman is also a rapper, with five solo albums, two collaboration albums, and his work as part of the Big Tymers all under his belt.
06). Waka Flocka Flame: He hasn’t dropped an album in three years, but he stays on peoples’ radar. And while he did have moderate success with “Hard in da Paint” and “No Hands.” The music’s appeal was seemingly limited to mosh pits and frat parties. And recently, he said he wasn’t worthy of Jay Z or Kanye feature on his upcoming LP. Then there’s his 2016 presidential campaign. There hasn’t been a more ridiculous run in politics since p### star Mary Carey made a bid for Lieutenant Governor of California.
05). Iggy Azalea: She became a superstar in 2014 and her music couldn’t be avoided. However, it wasn’t sour grapes about her success that made some in the Hip-Hop community dislike her, it was the fact that she disregarded what role white privilege played in it. By tweeting things in response to her opposition like, “so it’s completely fine and I’m used to it by now. i don’t lose any sleep over it,” (i.e. haters are going to hate) she ruffled feathers by not showing respect to a culture and history of music that had been treating her very nicely.
04). Azealia Banks: She is definitely more popular for her words off records than on them. In addition to beefing with more rappers on twitter than female R&B singers that Biggie fantasized about making love to on “Dreams [Just Playin’],” she also got lots of attention for her words in a recent Playboy interview. In addition to other controversial comments, she proclaimed that she hates “fat white Americans,” and hated on Kanye West and Lorde. Clearly her outspokenness is what’s keeping her in the spotlight. Remember this pic from last summer when no one (including her) showed up for her set at the Hove festival in Norway?
03). Chief Keef: While promoting Bang 3, he made the following Instagram post:
‘Nuff said.
02). Bobby Shmurda: In December 2014, the 20-year-old rapper was arrested in a 69-count indictment which included murder, drugs, and weapons possession. And his music glorifies all of those same negative elements. When asked by the press if his lyric in “Hot N***a” was true about selling drugs at a very young age, he responded by saying: “I was running with older guys, my brother and [his friends]. So by the time they was doing stuff, I was doing stuff. So they was in like 9th grade.”
01). Young Thug: People love to hate Young Thug for a multitude of reasons. It’s hard to understand what he says, he exploits his own sexual orientation via social media and attire, didn’t take a favorable stance on Ferguson, said he’d never buy a Jay Z album because he’s too old, and basically stole Lil Wayne’s album title. Karma seems to be catching up with him though; he was booed just a few days ago at a show in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Real R&B is back!!! Meet R&B group 12Til! Born and raised on the north side of Beaumont, Texas, 24-year olds Quinn Derry, Bryan Harrison, and Duntea Davis all found themselves introduced to music at an early age. The trio harmonized their version of Def Jam’s Playa’s popular single “Cheers To You.” The magic that was made in that moment solidified the group known today as 12Til. The group’s immense talent garnered the support and attention of Grammy Award-nominated singer, songwriter and producer Tank and singer/songwriter J.Valentine, and they were signed as the first R&B group to Tank’s record label Song Dynasty. 12Til is bringing back that real R&B that has been missing in this generation. The trio recently released their first official self-titled EP, 12Til, giving their fans and the music industry an introduction to who they are as artists. With their uniquely soulful vocals, incredible range, and amazing harmonies, the group has been gaining a fan base all over the world. 12Til is the new era Jodeci meets H-Town meets Playa.

Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane used to be the best of friends, but that relationship soured into a cruel case of beef.
Wake says all of that is behind them, but with a catch.
“We’re always in a good place. I’d just say – business point of view, it’ll never happen. Just because a snake’s frozen right now, when it thaws out don’t mean it ain’t gonna bite you. … It’s under the rug, man. F*ck it. It is what it is,” he told MTV News.
Waka is presently preparing to run for president in 2016. Gucci is incarcerated.
Houston continues to improve in Hip-Hop. Alongside The Sauce Factory, Houston’s 5th Ward JP is earning respect from his city. Soon global ears will follow suit thanks to his breakout single “Too Many Bosses” featuring Kirko Bangz. IYo Visuals directs a quality treatment to accompany the single, “It was a pleasure working with both J.P. and Kirko Bangz. We had been hearing about JP’s buzz with the whole sauce movement out of Houston so we felt honored to be a part of the new wave coming out of our city.”
(AllHipHop News) The high-profile, artist-owned streaming platform known as Tidal re-launched just a month ago, but the service has already faced negative media reports about its slow start and criticism for its $20 hi-fi premium price.
Tidal has attracted new users thanks in part to its exclusive content such as new videos from Beyoncé and Rihanna and access to live streams of events like J. Cole’s upcoming concert and Throne Boxing’s “Ward vs Smith.” However, after ranking at #78 on Apple’s App Store two weeks ago, the Tidal application dropped out of the top 750 last week.
In an attempt to right the ship for his new venture, the company’s part owner/public face Jay Z sent out a series of tweets on Sunday addressing the public perception issues surrounding his new venture. The Hip Hop mogul even contends other companies have conducted a “smear campaign” against Tidal. He also lays out the platform’s support of independent artists.

N.W.A. affiliate D.O.C. received some great news when five of his platinum plaques popped up at a Texas pawn shop.
The D.O.C., who released the classic album No One Can Do It Better, was one of the writers that helped propel the Compton-based rap crew to the top of the charts.
Social media helped get the plaques back to the OG and he made several thank you’s on Twitter.
And thanks again https://t.co/3dKAV7kSWJ

The albums, which were engraved with his name, showed up at Top Cash Pawn in Plano, TX about five years ago. It wasn’t until recently did the owner refurbish the items and put them on the wall. They were never mean to be sold, however.
According to Taylor Packwood of Top Cash, said that a fan of N.W.A. was upset that the plaques were in a pawn shop. Shortly thereafter, he received a call from The D.O.C., real name Tracy Curry.
Exactly what albums represented the million sold was not disclosed, but D.O.C. has been vital to the success of Eazy-E when he was with Ruthless Records and Dr. Dre when he established Deathrow and Aftermath.

Hundreds of angry fans are demanding refunds after a Detroit performance many are calling a drunken disaster. Multiple people in the crowd, during Thursday night’s 9:30 show at the Fillmore, say a seemingly wasted Chappelle took the stage an hour late and told very few jokes. Instead, he sat quietly smoking, rambling, and slurring his speech.
This is weird. Diddy seems to be starring in a new, updated version of the Rush Hour franchise, but there will be no Chris Tucker or Jackie Chan.
The fervor started when Diddy posted a Billboard on Instagram, prompting the news. At the time of this writing, nothing had been confirmed about “Rush Hour 4 with Face/Off 2.”
Additionally, the posting explicitly stated that Diddy’s co-star would be Byung-hun Lee.
The Billboard can be seen in Los Angeles and below.

A powerful, 7.9-magnitude earthquake shook Nepal’s capital and the densely populated Kathmandu Valley before noon Saturday, collapsing houses and leveling centuries-old temples in the worst quake in the Himalayan nation in over 80 years. Thousands of Nepalese citizens spent the night outdoors following the devastating earthquake which killed at least 2,000 people. Mountaineering officials say the quake triggered avalanches which killed at least 17 people on Mount Everest – in the worst ever disaster on the peak.
Guess a few people in the crowd weren’t feeling Young Thug at this show. He got booed at while trying to perform in Baton Rouge, LA.
