Dallas Worker Exposed To Ebola Has Been Quarantined On Cruise Ship In Belize

A Dallas lab worker from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital who is suspected to have handled Thomas Eric Duncan’s specimens has been quarantined on a Carnival Cruise ship on the coast of Belize, Fox News reports.

The ship has not been allowed to dock and the identified woman has been being monitored while in isolation. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki says that the woman has temperature checks daily and has not shown any symptoms of the virus. The worker found on this cruise ship through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s efforts to track down everyone who came into contact with Duncan, who was the first Ebola patient to die on U.S soil on Oct. 8th.

The doctor that has been monitoring the worker says that she is in good health.

Since being alerted on Wednesday (Oct.15) that this passenger was on board, Carnival Cruise Lines has released a statement.

“At no point in time has the individual exhibited any symptoms or signs of infection and it has been 19 days since she was in the lab with the testing samples. She is deemed by CDC to be very low risk.  At this time, the guest remains in isolation on board the ship and is not deemed to be a risk to any guests or crew. It is important to reiterate that the individual has no symptoms and has been isolated in an extreme abundance of caution. We are in close contact with the CDC and at this time it has been determined that the appropriate course of action is to simply keep the guest in isolation on board.”

Pharrell: For Every Individual Who Gets Killed, Someone Should Build A School Or Teach A Child

Pharrell Williams has been racking up magazine covers and now he can add EBONY magazine to the list. In the November issue, the Oscar-nominated singer/rapper touched race, the Ferguson fiasco and criticism about his latest album cover.

When it comes to race relations and responding to situations like Mike Brown’s killing, Skateboard P encourages unity.

“I don’t talk about race since it takes a very open mind to hear my view, because my view is the sky view. But I’m very troubled by what happened in Ferguson, Mo. When things like that happen, we need to be a united cell. We need connective tissue to be linked by spirit and spirituality. For every individual who gets killed, someone should build a school or teach a child. We really need to balance things with positivity.”

Pharrell also spoke on the backlash he received over the GIRL album cover because it lacked brown skinned beauties.

“I love Black women. If you don’t think I love Black women, then you don’t understand me.” He continues to add, “I have obsessed over Black women since the days of Jayne Kennedy, Beverly Peele and Roshumba Williams. Those are the women I daydreamed about growing up.”

The November issue of EBONY is on newsstands now.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Will New Doe B Music Come Without Tip’s Permission?

I have a tip for you all. The first year anniversary of Doe B’s tragic death is approaching. Here at AllHipHop, we are hearing that there is a bit of a civil war going on within the ranks of the circle. After he passed, earlier this year, they dropped D.O.A.T. 3 (Definition of a Trapper). But I am hearing there are others that have more music to release. AND, I hear that others feel that this other music is more representative of Doe’s legacy. I am hearing there is the possibility that this will be leaked in the spirit of the young rapper’s life. Shout out to the leaker, the person is one that came up with Doe.

By, the way, this isn’t with T.I. authorization.

Speaking of Doe, I had initially heard that the crazy people that tried to break in his grave were deranged fans. Now, I am hearing it is something more sinister. The people that were breaking in his resting place were actually, allegedly trying to rob him in jewels that he was supposedly buried in. Now that’s CRAZY.

Iggy Azalea Blasts The Austrailian Division Of Her Record Label

When it rains it pours, just ask Iggy Azalea. First, her ex-boyfriend claimed he had a sextape of her and then said he was her estranged husband.  Earlier this week, the “Fancy” rapper had a nasty exchange with a paparazzo and wished Ebola on him and then  went back and forth with Snoop Dogg over social media after he deemed her a long lost member of the White Girls cast.

The Grand Hustle rapstress received some good news though when she topped Maxim Australia’s  2014 Hot 100 list but it was  bittersweet. The mag apparently used a photo from a 2011 photo shoot she did for Complex back in 2011 without Iggy’s permission. The 24-year-old posted a series of tweets blasting the Australian division of her record label for selling the three-year-old flicks to Maxim Australia after she had requested that they not be used.

Yesterday, (Oct.16) she posted “stop giving permission on my behalf for magazines to purchase images of me that have already been printed in major publications for covers.”

The femcee did express that she was grateful for the cover but wished that a proper protocol was followed.

“I think it’s awesome anyone would want me on the cover of a magazine, but there’s a right way to make that happen and the Australian label clearly aren’t respecting my wishes.”

She then addressed Maxim Australia saying “thanks for the love and I’m sorry no one asked me. i would have love to have given an interview & done a shoot with u guys.”

Bobby Shmurda’s Mother Discusses Son’s Rant About Not Getting Paid

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this week, Bobby Shmurda jumped online to vent about not making any money from his show performances. The video rant was eventually taken down from his Instagram page but not before it became trending news on the internet.

[ALSO READ: Bobby Shmurda Complains About Not Making Any Money]

Billboard spoke with Shmurda’s mother/manager Leslie Pollard about his complaints. According to Pollard, her son is recieving his payments, but the “Hot N***a” rapper is just not aware of how the business works.

“It’s not that he’s not getting paid, it’s that he’s new to the business,”said Pollard. “There’s a chain of command that he has to go through before he gets his payment. I guess he’s thinking all the money should go from the front man to his hands — it doesn’t work like that. Of course they hold onto it so he actually does the show. Then it goes to his business manager, then to the touring accountant, and then to him.”

“I would still be interested in doing that. Me and him produce, so we could literally produce the whole project or EP,” said K.R.I.T. “He’s the kind of rapper that if I get in the studio with, I know I’m not finna take him lightly. That would make great for a project.”

The two southern emcees previously worked together on the DJ Khaled track “They Ready” which also featured Kendrick Lamar. During the interview, Sway suggested that K.R.I.T., Cole, and Kendrick do an album together, and the “Pay Attention” performer stated he would consider going on tour with his “They Ready” collaborators.

Faith Evans Says 2Pac Used Her As A Pawn, Regrets Recording With Him

(AllHipHop News) R&B singer Faith Evans became a chess piece in the feud between The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. As the wife of Biggie, 2Pac used her to take shots at his rival. Pac also recorded a song with Faith, and the former Bad Boy artist now says she regrets ever working with the man who was beefing with her husband.

“I wouldn’t have done it had I known he had anything to do with Death Row,” said Evans. “Actually when I got to the studio I realized he’s on Death Row, because I saw all these Death Row people. I was just going to do this hook and get my $20,000.”

Evans was then asked if she felt Pac used her as a pawn. She replied, “Absolutely, cause I didn’t know him. I didn’t know him before that. All I knew of him was what Big said. Big thought they were cool, and he was sort of confused like ‘What’s going on? I didn’t know we had beef.'”

50 Cent Describes How He Played A Part In The Eventual Beats By Dre/Apple Deal

(AllHipHop News) The blockbuster $3 billion deal between Apple Inc and Beats Electronics sent shock waves through both the business world and the music world. As a result of the technology giant purchasing Beats, co-founder Dr. Dre made $620 million in one year, easily landing him atop the Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings list.

Another selection on the Forbes list has now revealed how he indirectly helped make the entire transaction happen. 50 Cent was asked about the Apple/Beats deal and not being on the Beats board in an interview with XXL, and the G-Unit leader says one of his business dealings with Apple founder Steve Jobs played a role in establishing the iPod maker’s relationship with Dre’s Beats partner Jimmy Iovine.

50 Cent said:

We were selling sneakers and the idea was to sell speakers. Dre was going to follow and sell sneakers. G-Unit shoes made $80 million in that timeframe. After he seen it, he was like, “You doing what selling sneakers?” I sat in a meeting with Jimmy [Iovine] and Steve Jobs. Was there for about 10 minutes and we were talking. I told them, “You think you could sell like that—an iPod, I can sell an iPod, are you kidding me?” [Jobs] looked at Jimmy, and Jimmy was like, “Strangely enough, the kid is telling the truth.” At the time, I’m the first person to do Apple product placement with the iPod inside a music video or anything that they spent money on at that point. That dude gave me $175,000 that went against recouping the budget for “P.I.M.P.” The remix, me and Snoop, you see me get up with the girls with the white hats, the iPod is there. That’s the first time they ever did that and they did it because I convinced them that I could sell an iPod. From there, Jimmy and Steven built a good relationship.

Snoop Dogg, The Game, and More OG’s Performs at How The West Was Won

Remember when the West Coast/East Coast beef? There wasn’t anything bigger in Hip Hop during the 90s than the feud between two of the biggest sounds and artists of the genre. But who really one? Several have said the west side won by a long-shot, and How The West Was Won is the concert that signify it. Clearly, it was won by chin-checkin because the G’d up roster of West Coast heavy weights all came to deliver a message. How The West Was Won- produced by Adrian Scott Productions and Live Nation had a sold out crowd at Irvine’s Verizon Ampitheater, bouncing in a sea full of W’s in the air. Headlined by Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and The Game, the show was a retrospective of the history of West coast hip-hop including: Dj Quik, Suga Free, Xzibit, WC, Too Short, E-40, Mack 10, The Eastsiderz, and Glasses Malone. From DJ Quik beseeching the crowd to recognize that he’s the greatest producer alive, to Ice Cube threatening anyone who thinks his acting career has made him soft to “Check Themselves before they Wreck Themselves” the legends of the West could not be denied. Check out the photos below of “How The West Won”.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is Iggy About To Get Massively Sued?!

MANNNNNN! Iggy Azalea is the hot chick of the moment! The more she goes along, the more she gets acclaim. Beef or Broccoli – she’s got it going on. Anyway, the chick is definitely on everybody’s tongue. But I am hearing that she is also going to get sued crazily by some “people” that say she’s got a lot of unpaid dues. Man, lets just say that paperwork is serious when you are coming up.I don’t know anything about Bobby Shmurda, but he’s riffing about money. Now, now Bobby and Iggy are very different. Iggy is a TREASURE CHEST and mannnnn, I am hearing they are coming for that chest…I mean, treasure. Anyway, don’t be shocked if Iggy is hit with 1 or more lawsuits in the near future. She already has something pending from a man that claims he had her signed before T.I. came along. And the others feel she is contractually bound to them. This means oodles of cake. We will see if she is actually going to have to pay up or if they are blowing hot smoke in the Aussie.

Oh yeah, as if you didn’t heard this, but I heard T.I. checked the sh*t out of Snoop for going at his Iggy.

Three Questions With Kandace Springs

Hip Hop as a culture has always included more genres of music than just rap. Soul singers like Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu have brilliantly delivered the R&B voice to the game since the 1990’s. And pianists like Robert Glasper and Kris Bowers’ incorporation of Hip Hop into their jazz recordings has presented a magical melding of styles as well.

There is now one rising Nashville native that presents all of those elements in one compelling package. Kandace Springs’ debut self-titled EP presents a fresh alliance of the female Rhythm & Blues perspective, jazz musicality, and Hip Hop influence.

Springs was introduced to the music industry at a very early age by her father who was a professional singer. At 17, she was discovered by veteran producers Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (Rihanna, Christina Aguilera). Blue Note Records head Don Was later signed the rising vocalist on the spot after hearing Springs perform Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”

Even with a 2014 that included opening shows for Ne-Yo, Luke James, and Chance The Rapper plus making her network television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman, 2015 will likely be an even bigger year for Springs. The proud fan of The Pharcyde and A Tribe Called Quest is on pace to release her first full length album, but before the LP hits stores next spring, get familiar with Kandace in AllHipHop.com’s “Three Questions” series.

If you could only listen to five albums for the rest of your life, which ones would you have to pick?

Definitely Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation. I’d have to pick The Best of Sade. I’m a big John Legend fan so Get Lifted. Then I have to go with Erykah Badu’s New Amerykah part one and two. Then Norah Jones’ first album Come Away With Me. That’s what really inspired me to become a singer. The last song on there – “The Nearness Of You” – is the song that inspired me to want to play and sing, to be known as a female jazzy soulful artist.

If you could live in the body of any musical artist for a day, who would you pick?

Probably Sade. I like how she can just disappear from the industry and then come out of nowhere and sell out a stadium anywhere. She is who she is. No one else sounds like her, she’s beautiful, and very original.

Can you think of one of your lyrics that best describes where you are in your life right now?

I have a song called “Forbidden Fruit.” One of my favorite lines is “wish I could escape you, but love won’t set me free.” I love that line. But also the song “West Coast.” I say, “You can keep your empire state of mind, boy, I’m so Santa Monica.”
