Meek Mill To Stay Locked Up Until September

(AllHipHop News) A judge has rejected Meek Mill’s request to get out of jail early, which was submitted through his lawyers.

The rapper has been in jail since July 11 after violating the terms of probation rooted in a 2009 gun conviction.

The judge rejected a request to have an emergency hearing that was an effort to get the 27-year-old rapper out of jail.

“All I’m asking for is a hearing to learn why [his jailing] is constitutional and they won’t even give me that,” Meeks lawyer, Christopher Warren, said yesterday. “The last thing I want to do is go running to another judge to tell another judge what to do. But we have no choice,”

Meek will have to file a request through his lawyers that will have the court go to a higher level judge to override the original judge’s deception.

Defense lawyers for Meek intend to argue that Meek didn’t receive advance notice of the previous infractions.

EXCLUSIVE: Wes Jackson Accuses MTV Of Racially Biased Coverage Of Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The 10th annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival was a celebration of unity, the hangover is not as pleasant. Today (July 18th) Brooklyn Bodega President Wes Jackson and Head of Marketing Jules Pierrot discuss their accusations of MTV Two days after the 10th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival MTV music journalist Rob Markman posted an interview with Mac Miller about performing with Jay Electronica over the weekend. Jackson took exception to the original article not mentioning the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival by name:

The article now includes the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, however Jackson accuses MTV of racially biased coverage of the festival itself over their coincidental choice of interview subject:

So, the one time in 10 years I get one white rapper and MTV’s like ‘Oh, let’s talk to him.’ But,I never seen you call Torae. Kweli was there. [J.] Cole was there. Jay Elec was still in town. Yo, why didn’t you call me? Why you didn’t call Jules? Why didn’t you call Tatiana? Why didn’t you call Ebony? Because this is one of the few organizations that are flooded with Black people.

Following the publication of the article, Jackson initially blamed Markman for “questionable” journalism, but in this interview admitted that he does not believe Markman to be a cause of the problem. However, Jackson supports Dame Dash’s  “over run by people with no respect for the culture”

We are fooling ourselves if we don’t think there are tons of white people at the control that would much rather push Mac Miller out there than Jay Electronica. I mean, come on. If you a 50 year old white dude at MTV and you got a choice: we can get the eccentric dude with gold fronts, who’s a Katrina refugee rocking an F.O.I. uniform. Or we get the smacked white boy. You know they’re making these choices.

Los Angeles Clippers' Head Coach Says It's Hard To Recruit Players Because of Donald Sterling

(AllHipHop News) Uncertainty in basketball is purgatory on Earth for some coaches. In a recent interview, Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations Doc Rivers explains how Donald Sterling’s current ownership battle has hurt Clippers’ recruitment.

NBA free agency began on July 1st and Clippers have been able to sign a few players including free agents Jordan Farmar, Spencer Hayes and their draft pick CJ Wilcox. Two months before the start of free agency, NBA Commissioner banned Donald Sterling from participating in any basketball operations for the Clippers. With Sterling currently fighting the forced sale of the Clippers to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Rivers informed reporters on Monday (July 14th) that  the uncertainty of whom the Clippers’ owner is has hurt the team in recruiting players:

It has hurt us some this summer. You go in to talk to a free agent and most guys, teams will bring their owner. I go in, looking like this, by myself. I don’t know what effect that has had but that’s not been great for us

While meetings with Ballmer are not allowed, Rivers admits that two have had accidental “bump-ins” with his soon-to-be new boss. Los Angeles Clippers’ Head Coach Says It’s Hard To Recruit Players Because of Donald Sterling

New Actress Playing Aaliyah In Upcoming Biopic Revealed

(AllHipHop News) Aaliyah was One In A Million and finding an actress to play her may have the same odds. Today (July 18th) the lead actress for Aaliyah:Princess of R&B has been replaced and the new actress was recently revealed.

Last month, Disney Channel star Zendaya Coleman dropped out as playing the late R&B legend for undisclosed reasons. Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp has been tapped as her replacement according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shipp has acted in Nickelodeon’s House of Anubis and is slated to appear in the upcoming Drumline 2A New Beat.

Coleman faced criticism when she was announced as acting as Aaliyah in the upcoming film due to her skin complexion. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Debra Martin Chase, exec producer of the biopic, addressed the controversy:

I’m African-American. What does that mean? She’s biracial, but she identifies as black. She has a very strong black father. It’s very narrow and short-sighted. It’s not the world we live in today. And she, like you, like all of us, encompasses all her cultural experiences and heritage. And most importantly, she physically resembles her.

Shyheim Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter & Weapon Charges

SILive reports Shyheim was accused on speeding through a stop sign around 5 a.m. that morning. He ended up crashing into a car and killing Felipe Avila Olea before hitting another parked vehicle. According to authorities, the emcee/actor then fled the scene on foot, but left his blood and watch in the borrowed Volvo S80 he was driving.

The weapon charge stemmed from police discovering a loaded gun in Shyheim’s apartment in April of 2013. Shyheim previously served a two-year sentence for an attempted-robbery conviction.

Shyheim burst onto the Hip Hop scene at 14 years old when he released his debut album AKA the Rugged Child. The Wu-Tang Clan affiliate went on to drop several more projects including 2009’s Disrespectfully Speaking. He also appeared in the films In Too Deep and Finding Forrester.

Jeezy Speaks On Issues With Freddie Gibbs

(AllHipHop News) At one point Freddie Gibbs was a standout member of Young Jeezy’s CTE World label, but the two rappers parted ways in 2012.

Gibbs has not been shy about addressing his issues with the Atlanta-based rapper through diss tracks, tweets, and interviews. Now Jeezy is speaking out on the matter.

During a discussion with Elliott Wilson, Jeezy explains he had no ill will towards Gibbs, but the financial situation would not allow him to continue to fund the Indiana emcee’s career.

Jeezy said:

I put him on a song with Eminem. I put him on a song with T.I. I put him on numerous mixtapes that I had. I took him on tour. Took him around the world. I spent money on videos that he didn’t use cause he didn’t like them, and it wasn’t his money.

So at the end of the day, my whole thing was to him was ‘I took you to every label in the game. They don’t wanna sign you. I don’t have no reason—I love you. You know what I’m saying? I think your music is dope, but they don’t want to sign you.’ So at the end of the day, when I called him up I was like, ‘Yo, I can’t really spend my money on you. I got family, other s### I gotta take care of. So, I’ll help you all I can, but I can’t fund it anymore.’

Cool. Conversation went well. We got off the conversation it was straight love. I hear diss records. What I’m supposed to do? I’m not replying to that. N**a, we getting money. YG just sold a million f**king singles. At the end of the day, we all tried. It didn’t work. That s### happens in business all the time…

I still ain’t surprised, cause I don’t give a f**k. I’m still getting money. I’m still on top. You’re not gonna knock that. And I’m still having success around me, but when you listen and good things happen – we celebrate like with YG.
